Enjoy superb audio from desktop speakers

Looking for multimedia speakers that can deliver high-performance sound from your iPod, iPhone, or computer? Enter the Focal XS 2.1 multimedia sound system. This advanced audio system features two desktop speakers and a powered subwoofer you can place on the floor.

Focal XS

Simple setup with USB connection

Focal XS Speakers

The system connects to your computer through a standard USB cable. This connection bypasses the PC's sound card and feeds the signal to Focal's advanced Burr-Brown digital-to-analog converter, which produces highly accurate, richly detailed sound.

Integrated iPod and iPhone dock

An iPod dock built into the base of one of the speaker stands helps you avoid desktop clutter. Simply dock your player and enjoy clear, natural sound with your favorite tunes. The Focal XS also charges your iPod, and a switch on the back of the docking base lets you sync your player with your computer.

Quality construction for optimal performance

Three separate built-in amps power the system — one each for the left and right speakers, and a third for the subwoofer. This ensures optimal responsiveness from each speaker. Mylar dome tweeters reproduce clear highs, while 3" woofers handle the midrange frequencies. A 6-1/2" powered subwoofer deliver full, rich bass.

Convenient remote control operation

Use the system's compact remote to control volume, as well as basic commands on your iPod, such as play, pause, skip and start. And you can attach the magnetized remote to either of the anodized aluminum speaker stands for quick access when not in use.

From the review The Focal XS 2.1 Multimedia Sound System delivers audio goodness

"If you're working on a computer for long periods of time (and who isn't these days?) the Focal XS can deliver a listening experience that rivals a good home audio system. When I was sitting in that sweet spot typing away on my laptop, the Focal XS 2.1 Multimedia System's soundscape really made my stored music come alive."

Clean and True Sound Quality

Written by: StanLee from California on August 2, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Focal's 2.1 system delivers exceptional true sound quality without any coloring added, which you will find in most desktop computer speaker systems. The tonal quality is fabulous and for the true audiophile for sure. Most desktop speakers are below your ears, on the desk. The Focal are at the right listening ear-height, sitting atop a stand that is eloquently designed. Focal's 2.1 system put the PSB PS1 Alpha w/Subseries 100 subwoofer system to shame. PSB's system just had too much color and assisted tone.

Pros: Tonal quality, Appearance, Height of Speakers, Features

Cons: Older design does not have updated Apple lightning connection, extremely unfortunate that this system is now obsolete. A terrible shame for the audiophile community.

Great sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This system would sound great without the sub but with it (and the ability to adjust its output) I was very impressed - from either just an iPod or especially the computer. Even at the highest volume the sound was very clean and balanced.

Pros: Great sound / compatibility with either an iPod/iPhone or computer

Cons: Expensive / subwoofer placement may be a challenge if there isn't much room under the desk

Stop don't look any forward

Just to introduce myself, I'm very specific about how I listen to my music anything here or there will just turn me off. So after a lengthy research I decided to buy these Focal XS 2.1 and boy it is a great choice, if you want to buy Bose go ahead because if Bose is on your wish list means you know nothing about quality sound, this 2.1 is just untouchable, make sure you have WMA files it will just surprise you with the clean crisp sound, Sub is very tight like how subs are suppose to be, as I say you can make a $20 sub sound louder then $1000 sub its the tightness of sub that counts. One last thing, I want to thank Crutchfield staff they were very nice and helpful. Buy it my friend if you are reading this comment.

Pros: Sound Quality, looks and Focal

Cons: Only if it had a volume display and a Headphone jack life would have been perfect.

High Fidelity in a small package!

I am a believer! FOCAL has produced great sound from a computer speaker. Low level detail, depth and timbral accuracy are stunning! A lot better performance than I would have thought! Very Pleased BURG

Very good, not spectacular

Good sound, easy to set up, small, nice looking. Remote not that easy to use because of the angle of the on/off switch. Doesn't have a headphone jack--that's a serious lack, in my view. Sometimes nobody in the house can deal with the volume!. But it's a good system, just not spectacular.

Focal XS® 2.1 Multimedia Sound System

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I own a 27" iMac and I was looking for some speakers that would go well with it. I was a bit hesitant to pick these up mainly because of the price but the way I see it, I wont be buying any new speakers for my computer any time soon. These speakers sounds amazing.

I have two complaints about these speakers.

Volume Rocker: My Logitech Z4 speakers not only have a round knob (like most speakers) to adjust the volume but also a connector to connect your headphones. The Focal XS speakers have a "minus" and "plus" button to adjust the volume which is a pain because if you need to turn the volume down you need to keep pushing the button, its just a hassle. Its not that big of a deal because I can adjust the volume from my keyboard but still, for speakers at this price, I'd expect better.

Remote Control: I'll be pretty blunt, the controller is cheap.

overall though, great speakers. I'm giving it a 4 because of the volume buttons and remote control but overall I'm happy with these

My son's 1st system

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The 1st set were damaged, however 1 call to Crutchfield quickly and painlessly remedied the problem.

Great looking speakers that take up minimal space. Yes they are relatively expensive but their sound and build quality surely warrant the price tag. The only negative comment would be the attached speaker wire is not very flexible and a little short for my liking.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a Fantastic set of speaker system, make no mistake about it. As a long time user of 30" apple lcd and dell U2711, I can definitely say they did a wonderful job for producing this decent sppeakers. I know I paid more than a half grand for it, but considering its sharp, vivid, and bright sound quality you could easily forget about it. I'm hearing a lot of unknown sounds out these satellites, which I've never heard from my previous speakers. Just amazing.

Customer Q&A

2 questions already asked

Hi Dennis, it should, though I haven't tried it myself. To be absolutely sure I would recommend getting in touch with Focal's technical support team in North America -- Audio Plus Services (sorry I can't provide a link but the response tool won't allow me -- just look them up with that name and the "contact us" tab). If it does work, I am not sure I would recommend it unless you are going to place the Focal on a desk. It's really meant to be on a desk and sat in front of for best sound, in my opinion. It has special cables that only go a certain length, as in sitting on a desktop, and you can't extend those (I know because I got in touch with their technical support about this). I'd probably recommend other options that are more flexible, unless you ultimately plan to hook it up to a PC. Hope this helps! [ jennie  Jul 03, 2015 ]
Yes it does [ Christopher  Jun 30, 2015 ]
No, this is not possible. See detailed technical specification and user manual at http :// www. focal. com/ en/focal- xs-21/266- focal-xs-21-35440 54690 253.html (remove the spaces which are required for this answer). And I agree with Christopher: Use the audio output of the player for your headset. If you prefer high quality USB sound from your computer, use a USB headset. [ NW Critic  Jan 05, 2015 ]
No, I don't believe so. No output connections, just input. [ Stephen  Jan 04, 2015 ]
I am not sure why you would want to plug earphones into it when you can just plug your headphones into the music source such as an IPhone or iPod or computer. I am not with the system right now but I believe there is an aux port in the back but it is for a music source and would not produce output sound to earphones. [ Christopher  Jan 03, 2015 ]
