Go digital without going broke

If you're ready to ditch that album full of scratched-up CDs and go digital, Boss Audio's 812UAB digital media receiver offers an impressive array of features for its price range, plus a variety of connections for your devices.

Plenty of ways to play

This double-DIN (4" tall) receiver can fill a big space and provide plenty of entertainment. You can pop an SD™ card full of music into the slot behind the front panel, or enjoy your local AM/FM stations. Plug a thumb drive into the front panel USB port to enjoy MP3 files, or use the aux input to connect a portable satellite radio tuner. That front panel aux input will also work with a portable CD player -- if you haven't quite finished digitizing everything, you've got a backup plan in place.

Hands-free convenience

Buying a budget receiver doesn't mean giving up conveniences like built-in Bluetooth® connectivity. With the 812UAB, you can take calls or stream music stored on a smartphone without taking your hands off the wheel.

Plenty of great features

You can use the 4 EQ presets and the tone controls to shape the sound, while a set of RCA outputs gives you room to expand your system with an outboard amp. Handy illumination controls allow you to adjust the brightness of the display. It even comes with a remote control for your backseat passengers.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Smartphone note: If you're going to use your Android smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Should fit any Ford with Double Din opening. I actually installed in a 2006 Sterling Class 8 truck( same as Ford) . I needed a shallow radio due to air lines running in dash. Works great and very pleased with features for price.

I'm sure it can... I can play music via USB on my HTC. I believe when it says it doesn't have controls means that it doesn't have special abilities, like using Siri with the system. Once again, though, I'm not entirely positive, I'm just assuming.

I was wondering if I brought this receiver for my 2002 trailblazer. It has remote start, but I don't believe it's factory. The reason I believe it is aftermarket, is because the remote start unit has a small device right above the rearview mirror. So I don't know if it has anything to do with the factory stereo or not. I guess my question would be, if I installed the boss 812 would it interfere with the receiver in any way?
    jason  Mar 29, 2014

Yes. The receiver has RCA pre-amp outputs which will connect to the RCA inputs on your amplifier.

Kris S, the bluetooth on this unit is awesome. I have not had a single issue using this unit. The microphone for making calls actually sounds better on this unit than on the JVC that it replaced. For the money you can't beat it IMO.

Ray W, I have an I-phone 4S. The phone will only make calls via bluetooth. When I connect the phone to the unit, the phone asks if I trust the computer. I click trust and the head unit then refuses to acknowledge the I-phones is even there. I have tried selecting don't trust and same thing. I only use my cable/USB to charge my I-phone. I use bluetooth for everything else.

I have only used bluetooth, and it is great. My phone is recognized as soon as I get in my car, even if I actually have the radio tuner selected. I haven't been able to figure out how to use it with usb connection, but if that is important to you, simply call Crutchfield, these guy are great!
