Overview

Our take on the Boss BV7335B

Too bad you don't have room in your dash for a big DVD receiver. But now there's a way around that — Boss Audio's compact BV7335B DVD receiver fits in most car dashes and features a 3.2" LCD screen that lets you view pictures and DVD videos when you're parked. Plus, it adds a bold splash of color to your car with a choice of five background display images. And you can attach a backup camera to the BV7335B, making it a lot easier to navigate in tight parking lots and driveways.

Make a splash in a small space

Bluetooth® on board

Boss Audio built Bluetooth into this receiver, so you can answer a phone call with the push of a button. You'll talk as if your caller is sitting next to you, freeing up your hands so you can concentrate on the drive. And the BV7335B supports Bluetooth audio streaming, so you can stream music wirelessly from compatible devices to the receiver, with basic control functions like play and pause.

Your media

With a built-in amp that provides plenty of power, this compact receiver gives you plenty of ways to play your music and more. You can slip a store-bought or recorded CD into the slot located behind the fold-down face, including discs burned with MP3 files. You'll appreciate the SD™ card slot and a USB input for checking out the music and photos you've stored — you can also plug compatible Android phones into the USB port. The front-panel A/V input lets you jack in other music or video sources, while a rear-panel video output sends video to an external monitor.

Installation was a Snap, Good Crisp Sound & Clear Picture, Easy to Operate

Pros: Easy to install, good clean audio for all modes (CD, DVD, AM/FM, Blutooth Phone, Aux), plenty of power for comfortable listening, very user friendly.

Cons: The view on the screen is a bit small for DVD, but that was expected; When switching from a DVD movie to FM radio, be sure to turn the volume down 1st - playing a DVD requires an extra high volume setting to obtain a comfortable listening level, so if switched from that mode to FM mode without 1st trimming the volume, you could blow some speakers or eardrums!

I have now had this unit installed in my truck for 3 weeks. It is actually better thatn I thought it would be. I love it! The installation kit and instructions make this a breeze to install. The Bluetooth function is GREAT! My grandchildren love watching the DVD's. The back-up camera function works great when hooking up to my camper. Like other reviewers have mentioned the clock is really small. I overcame that by adding a "stick on" clock on the dash. I do recommend this unit to anyone that wants all of the features that this unit has at a really good price!!

Pros: Features, price, ease of installation

    Cons: Small clock display.

Good sound quality and a clear video display are strong points for this stereo. The only gripes I have are the very small station preset buttons, the small time display and the fact that you have to change the mode to return from the audio set up page. Bluetooth works well and installation was a breeze.

    Pros: Sound quality

Cons: Small buttons and clock display

This radio is just ok. It would probably have better reception if you lived in a big city where the signal is strong but I travel a lot and it's very weak, outside for the price it's decent.

    Pros: Good video looks nice

Cons: Poor reception on the fm band.

Well, I wanted a receiver for a backup camera. This is what this product delivers in the vehicle I have that this receiver fits. Other than that, it is ok. Not the best thing out there but I guess I cannot be picky. Let see how long it lasts.

Pros: Having a backup camera is nice.

Cons: Sound quality is not that great. Preset buttons are small. When the radio is off, it does not even display the time which would be nice.

For money this is great. Bluetooth is seamless and works perfect both for phone calls and streaming: Pandora, itunes/ipod, and the like. never an issue. I have my phone (5S) on a dash cradle next to radio which makes it much easier to use. has inputs for a back up camera and external displays for DVD player. I plan to install a back up camera soon and make use of the great LCD on the single DIN unit.

Pros: CHEAP. Bluetooth works perfect. LCD screen is awesome for such a small receiver.

Cons: My stock radio was double DIN. Using the single DIN chasis that Crutchfield sold me, I cannot open the face or detach it with out a lot of elbow grease. I do not plan to use the DVD, USB port or take the face off so I am okay with this but buyer beware.

Great little radio/dvd player. Installed it with a reverse camera too, the screen is a little small for using the reverse camera, but is nice when backing up to a trailer. Navigating all of the features takes some getting used to, I still haven't set the clock.

Pros: Reverse cam, good price, and it has dvd!

    Cons: Small screen.

Questionable quality I bought this head unit with high hopes. It plays and displays DVDs, How cool is that!?! First off, let me share that I am review this product separate from Crutchfield. The negative rating should in no way reflex on Crutchfield. I took 2 attempts at this product. The first. installed easily. Looked nice, but would not pick up a radio station. It also would repeatedly reboot when I plugged in any USB device. I contacted Crutchfield support. They made some suggestions and I followed them. When they didn't work, Crutchfield replaced the unit. Boss unit # 2 arrives. Installed even easier (already wired) and the radio picks up stations! Awesome! Then I try several USB devices. same issue. I now have a Kenwood unit on the way to replace this. While I am now anti - Boss and am very much pro Crutchfield. What awesome support! They even returned an email on New Year's Day! WOW.

Pros: Does have a cool factor

Cons: 2 attempts and didn't get a fully operational unit.

Owning this unit for a few days now. it's quite easy to install. the software and settings are very simple, easy to use. The amplifier certainly packs a punch. Albeit my system already comes with a highly rated amp as well, this receiver gives strong, clear sound at minimal volume level (2-5) when its max is like 50. I'm scared to even think of maxing it out (shattering windshield comes to mind) with such a low price, you can not deny the features that are included such as lcd screen with rear-view camera input (pair it with a $15-$20 camera and you are golden), bluetooth built-in, and sound quality. Here comes the but's. the simplicity of the software limits all the potential of this unit. It can easily display so much more info on the lcd screen. such as in radio mode (if Radio Data System is equipped - i'm just this does not cost more than $10-$20) people would want to see more than just the big channel number in the middle of the screen. Or in Bluetooth streaming mode, let us know what song is playing and by whom rather than showing just "Bluetooth Streaming". I haven't tried making phone calls but the unit doesn't have a dedicated phone button so you will have to pick up your phone and dial. obviously there won't be any phone book, or recent calls, or voice command. One other minor thing is that it will only connect to one device via bluetooth at a time. I'm told that it's normal and I'm spoiled by the JVC's I've had which let me connect 2 phones.

Pros: lcd screen very strong ampn, good sound quality

Cons: needs better software interface to utilize the lcd screen. the included wire harness that allows 4-channel audio outputs doesn't come with RCA connections. I had to wire those connectors in myself in order to connect it with my amplifier

I purchased this receiver for my 18 year old brother. It has a ton of features and good sound for a low price. It's a great entry-level stereo.

Pros: Great value. Lots of features

Cons: The build could be a little more solid. Seems like something will snap when removing the head unit.

I bought this unit because I wanted a deck that would play DVDs burned with MP3s due to a large music collection. It's not a BAD unit and it sounds pretty good actually but it is missing a LOT of very basic features and that makes it a little disappointing. The disc takes quite a long time to read when you start up. Usually 1-2 minutes before it starts up. It will ALWAYS start in repeat mode no matter which mode you left it in. (Yes, the memory wire is connected correctly.) When you change it to random, it will leave the song you are playing so if you like the song you are listening to, better wait. The display will not scroll song titles and there is very little space to show them. For a lot of burned MP3s, you just get part of the first word. That's a big let down for me. There is also no way to search by song title or folder. The screen itself isn't "bad" but it's not great either. For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find another DVD player. It's a little washed out but I didn't buy it to watch movies. The bluetooth on the unit is actually quite good. It syncs up VERY fast and can stream from the phone much faster than playing from a disc. There are a lot of fairly nice features on the unit and the remote works well but there's a lot missing that could have made this a very good unit. I'm hoping to return mine and get something a little more "user friendly" for music.

Pros: Lots of fairly nice features for a "cheap" unit.

Cons: Missing some very basic functions that could have made it a winner. Deck is very slow for most features.

I really liked this radio. I can't see it being used too much for watching movies though. The screen is just too small. It worked great and sounded great. It was easy to install, but the DVD feature was a bit much for me. I returned it so I could get a radio without it.

    Pros: Great features and sound

Cons: Screen is just too small.

I'm afraid I don't know...I installed this in a car without steering wheel controls. That said, I do think that Crutchfield sells interface boxes that can be used to keep functionality with steering wheel controls for many models, so it's worth checking with them to see about this. I cant answer that. I put one in a 2005 Ford F150. I can tell you the remote is cheap. If I could do it again I wouldn't buy. Pretty limited. [ Lucas  Jul 07, 2014 ]
If you purchase the correct adapter it should. This a very good radio for the price. One note though the screen was even smaller than I anticipated. [ Josh  Jul 03, 2014 ]
As far as I know it will if you buy the adapter for your vehicle. [ MICHAEL  Jul 03, 2014 ]
Yes, the microphone even picks up voice conversations with the sunroof open, or window down in my Grand Cherokee. [ Scott  May 13, 2014 ]
I wonder if the two issues are related? [ Kenny  May 12, 2014 ]
Thanks for the reply. An '02 Jeep is what I was looking at installing this stereo in. I know the background noise could be a big issue and the microphone on this system appears to be in the radio itself. I was not sure if the distance from the driver would hurt the quality of the reception of the microphone with all the background noise of the soft top. I figured having the microphone low in the vehicle would help when the top is off. [ Kenny  May 12, 2014 ]
Not sure if im using the mic on my phone or the head unit but quality is good. [ Richard  May 12, 2014 ]
Works just fine. My daughter has an 05 jeep that can be very noisy at times and she doesn't have any problems with it [ David  May 12, 2014 ]
I installed this in my wife's Honda Pilot, when I call and talk to her we can get through a conversation and understand each other but it is not clear. Her car is not load either. Also she has complained about the radio stations not coming in as clear as they did with the old radio. [ SETH  May 12, 2014 ]
Nope you can choose e a different background in the settings it can be another pre installed one or one you have personally. [ Robert  May 07, 2014 ]
You can choose your own background or choose from preloaded back ground. [ KRISTA  May 06, 2014 ]
That would be my only issue is you can't upload your own images and the preset ones are a little dark for the cost the radio can't be beat Eric [ MICHELLE  May 06, 2014 ]
    Thanks! [ Joey  May 06, 2014 ]
