Eye-catching and customizable

Think of it as a mood ring for your car. JVC's KD-AR959BS CD receiver lets you customize the illumination color in three different areas of the faceplate for any combinations you can think of. Combine that with super-clean CD playback, a USB input for charging devices and playing your music files, and Bluetooth® for hands-free calling and audio streaming, and you've got a complete entertainment console for your car. And since this receiver is part of their Arsenal Series, JVC backs it up with a 2-year warranty.

JVC Arsenal KD-AR959BS CD receiver

You can use the Separate Variable color adjustments to match your interior lighting and illuminate your controls.

Smartphone integration

Bluetooth serves as a wireless bridge between your smartphone and your dash, enabling music streaming and hands-free phone calls with any compatible phone. But pair up this JVC and an Android™ smartphone, and you can use JVC's Smart Music Control App to harness Bluetooth's full potential — you'll be able to use your phone to change settings, EQ, and sources on your receiver with a simple gesture or a voice command.

If you enjoy Internet radio on your iPhone or Android, you'll really enjoy playing music from Pandora® and iHeartRadio® on this great-sounding receiver. You can scroll through your stations, bookmark songs, and give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down right from the receiver's face.

Added cool stuff

JVC upped the power in their USB port, which lets you keep your smartphone charged, even when it's doing several tasks at once. Drive Change allows you to connect a memory card reader or USB hub to the receiver's USB input and select music from up to five memory cards or USB flash drives. Connect just about any portable audio player using the KD-AR959BS's front aux input. Once you've got the music going, you can shape your sound with the onboard 5-band parametric equalizer.

If you're adding amplifiers or a powered subwoofer, the six 4.8-volt preamp outputs provide you the clean signal you need. You also get a subwoofer level control and low-pass filter to help you match the sub's output with the rest of your system.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this JVC stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the JVC, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

App Note: iHeart Radio playback and control requires the "iHeart Link for JVC" app on your smartphone.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

I am a senior citizen so Coolness Factor is pretty low on my list. I am looking for practical and good sound. The flashing lights and changing colors were cool for a few minutes but that got old quick. (you will understand when you get my age. :-) I do like that I can change the colors to suit. Love being able to have all red at night, it doesn't mess with your night vision which as a night time photographer is important.

I had a JVC unit and wanted to stick with JVC so I didn't have 'rewire' the car. This one replaced the old no by simply removing the old and in with the new. I drive my vehicle for work and need to log the mileage. I am in and out of the car doing it manually got old. I bought a app for the phone that will track it for me but I had to plug up the phone for it to start logging. Getting in and out and it got old and I would forget to plug it back up. The app had a bluetooth option, once it linked up with the stereo it would start tracking. That was my main reason for replacing my old one. Plus I love the fact that it will start Pandora and play without me doing anything. Yes I am spoiled now! I like the 5 band EQ, i was skepitiacl but it sounds better than the old one and I love the being able to use the phone hands free.

This is a tremendous radio at this price point. Not sure where you would get a radio that has all the capabilities that this JVS has for <$120. People could get into a discussion on the quality of the sound, however, this model is not directed towards audiophiles. It has all the capabilities that you would want or need out of a base car stereo at this price. Bought this Radio for my 18 year old daughter in a 2002 Jeep Gand Cherokee. This is perfect for this car. Fits nicely in an unusual dashboard configuration.

Pros: All features of expensive radios. USB / Aux Bluetooth Hands-free calling iHeart Pandora Sirius/XM

I always buy JVC headunits, and they never let me down. This is my fifth different install I've done over my life and each time I've used a jvc head unit, and they're always great. This is probably the best yet, but that makes sense as its their flagship single din radio. I would recommend this to anyone who wants quality without sacrificing dependability.

Pros: Dependable, feels well built (buttons have a quality feel). Easy install and in my wrx. Great value for the money. Not blinding at night and easily visible during the day.

Cons: Remote is a bit small. Also,I can't seem to get the "usb hub" to function with an iPhone or my note 4. This is not to be mistaken with the front usb, only the option of plugging in an expansion hub. Would greatly appreciate help getting this to work if anyone knows how.

This deck has a ton of features ,Bluetooth,I pod control from either the head unit or your ipod it also charges it.Pro level eq adjustments, bass boost adjustment, loudness boost adjustment, sub amp turn on and off,sub level control, internal amp control for the deck itself, you can make a call from the head unit by going to the phone book and hitting volume button to make a call,it .IT also has three sets of pre outs and one is for a sub.I have had this for a couple weeks and have no problems with it.I read some of the other reviews about flashing lights and not being able to read display. The deck does respond to headlights being turned on off by changing light brightness on display and you change settings for the display lights also it is all in the owners manual.I highly recommend you carry the owners manual with you for a couple weeks.I suspect a lot of people will not even use half the features on this deck.My current system: Jvc 105ar959bs ,Image Dynamics 12" sub (American made),Mmatts 600.1 600 watt amp true rms (American Made), RT sub box (American Made), Infinity door speakers.

    Pros: 2 year warranty,see review

Cons: I suspect this might not be as loud as some older factory decks because of the small amp size inside of the deck itself, still plenty loud though.

A nice upgrade from my aging Panasonic CD head unit. The Bluetooth works great in my 13 year old car and connected to my iPhone 6Plus easily. The phone audio is clear and the microphone picks up my voice nice and clear. The Bluetooth audio playback is really sweet. I can listen to my iHeart, Pandora, or saved music with ease. The color is a little nice, but all the flashing colors can be distracting, especially at night. I made during to shut that off and use a standard single color.

Pros: Price, ease of install, Bluetooth connectivity, included remote control, USB port can charge your phone

    Cons: Flashing color display.

This CD receiver is awesome. It is like having my own disco in the car. An awesome light show. I enjoy the various options for display and colors. The sound is much louder and richer than my factory CD receiver. It was vary easy to adjust the three levels of bass and the treble to meet my music preference. Bluetooth was very easy to setup for my IPhone and took only a few minutes. The microphone is easily heard by those I call, even though the microphone is not that close to me. I can hear my calls crystal clear. The USB connector charged my Iphone very quickly and is very convenient....it frees up my cigarette lighter for another device. The controls on the CD receiver are well made and easy to use. I also connected the remote control to my steering wheel to keep my eyes on the road. I highly recommend this product. It is actually the best CD receiver I have ever owned. I recommend getting rid of your factory CD receiver to buy a JVC.

The customer support is excellent!!!! The technician spent some time with me finding the right product. I was given the pro and cons, which helped me make a decision. I had to call back for tech support for one thing. I new what I was doing, but wanted to make sure before I connected the wires to the factory wires. I got a technician on the phone right away. He new exactly what I was talking about and I got an answer right away. I highly recommend this company and will continue to do business with them.

Pros: 1. Easy to use (I did not even look at the manual) 2. Very loud...much louder than my factory CD. 3. The price is very low for the high quality. 4. The wow factor of the light show. 5. Easy to use bluetooth for smart phones. 6. Excellent sound and microphone for phone calls. 7. I could read the display very easily..in the daytime and night! 8. Spectacular customer service. They were very professional and knew their stuff.

Cons: I have no negatives for this product. I am a very satisfied customer

This is a great unit for not a lot of money. Installed in my '97 Tahoe with the dash kit also provided by Crutchfield. Everything provided fit perfectly. The MasterSheet wire schematic matched perfect. My only issue I had was that I did not get the pocket piece to take place of the stock cd player that is located under the climate controls. I assumed it would have been included with the rest of the dash kit, but you know what happens when you assume. Not a big deal though. I paired this unit up with the Boss R1100M amp and a Sound Ordnance B-12 and is it ever loud. I don't have the sub level on the amp turned up anywhere near it's full potential and this receiver kicks out the best tunes I've ever had in a vehicle of my own. The blue tooth syncs up just fine. Yes, there is a lot to this receiver and God forbid you have to look in the provided manual to figure out all the bells and whistles but that's what the manual is for. I use the bluetooth EVERY TIME I get in and it is FANTASTIC. It takes a handful of seconds to register and start playing, but it's bluetooth, stop being in such a rush. All in all, I love the thing.

Pros: Bluetooth works great, easy install, fits perfect, looks awesome.

Cons: Nothing with the receiver itself. Install kit provided did not come with cubby/pocket thing to put in place of stock cd player in my specific application ('97 Tahoe).

This is my initial review. I just installed it last week. Haven't completely critiqued the settings and options yet. I haven't 5 starred it at least not yet because the Bluetooth set up isn't that easy to follow as i would like. Granted I don't have a top of the line phone, that being said it could just be my phone having the issues linking up. My other reason for not 5 starring is because it's great to have so many audio settings, but for me a person who isn't aware of what each setting actually does, for example messing with the "mid low" or "mid high", it would have been nice to have a detailed explanation section to help with adjustment.

Pros: everything except user ability in regard to detailed audio settings.

Cons: Issues linking up phone for Bluetooth

I had another JVC unit (JVC KD-R960BTS)l and while I really liked it, the deck kept resetting. I looked and this was a fairly common complaint for that model even in the reviews on here. I ended up returning it and I decided to give this other JVC model a try so I didn't have to re-splice all my stuff again. So far it has worked flawlessly and has a lot more tuning options in terms of sound than my other unit had. I had originally looked at other brands but none of them had so many features for the price of the JVC. For the money it's great and does about anything you could need or ask for. So far I am really liking this unit and it was worth the extra money.

Pros: Color changing options Sound Tuning options High RMS output remote control

Cons: Hard to see in sunlight

    Nice for the price

I ordered this unit as a replacement for a KD-R960BTS unit that I returned. Great sound with the factory Monsoon system in my GTI. The equalizer presets are nice and the ability to adjust the sound manually gives the user the ability to adjust the sound any way you like.

The ability to match the colors to my interior lights makes it look great, especially at night. This unit also has a auto dimmer to dim the display when the headlights are turned on, including different colors for day or night.

It took a few tries to pair my iPhone 6, but got it done. Bluetooth calls are clear and the unit has the ability to adjust echo, mic volume, etc and immediately made a few calls to adjust. The key to good calls with the unit is taking the time to place the microphone close to the driver. It also provided the ability to make adjustments such as echo, mic volume, etc. This unit seems to take a little longer to connect with my phone than the one I replaced, but does so every time.

My only complaint with this unit is the display. The brightness during daylight hours makes it hard to read. It also sits at an angle in my car that seems to reflect every glare in the car. I find myself putting my hand over the display to shield it so I can see the display.

Pros: #Great sound #Ability to change colors of the display #Bluetooth works great with iPhone 6--calls and audio streaming

Cons: #Display is hard to read in the daylight

This head unit from JVC will be hard to beat for the money, considering all the features. I was looking for something in the bluetooth compatible market with superb features and front, rear, sub low level outputs and this deck hit the mark and then some even though it was quite a bit BELOW my intended budget. It has all the features I need and room to grow and expand. I would definitely lump it into the "bang for your buck" catagory, and even suggest that it be at the top of that list. I am super nit-picky and I was not dissapointed.

Pros: Great sound control features 3 zone infinite color customization Blue tooth and android compatible 3 sets of low level outputs

Cons: I wish the remote were a little bigger. No bull, it's barely bigger than my thumbnail and I'm afraid I'm going to looses it. That's more a gripe than a con so take it at face value.

Front, rear, sub outputs and controls. Good volts. Blu tooth works great, nice Pandora controls, radio reception is good, though I rarely listen to the radio. It picks up the station name and song name. This deck is simply amazing in the $100 range. It's very unlikely you could get all these options and quality in any other deck near this price. Obviously it's not a pro deck, but if you are looking at bang for buck, this is a strong contender. Extremely happy.

    Pros: Everything listed above.

Cons: Waited too long to buy, :)

I drive dark roads late at night. The display constantly blinks without regard to settings and the front of the unit is glossy, both are distractions for such driving. JVC customer support contacts bounce. Do not count on anything from JVC customer support.

Unit setup is tedious and the settings to not survive a disconnect of the vehicle battery lead.

OEM radio display was much easier to read and did not have any blinking indicators. OEM radio had matte finish that does not reflect stray light. OEM radio backlight responded proportionally to dashboard brightness setting. Shouldn't it be a simple matter to have such features in a replacement radio?

Pros: It works and fits. MP3 play from flash (no MP3 player required) is a good money saver.

I got the unit and installed it myself in just a couple of hours in my '03 Outback. I replaced the original stereo with this one and what a difference!! I love the Iphone voice control and after reading the instructions can operate pretty easily. The Bluetooth calling feature works great and everyone I have talked to said the call is clear and I can make the caller as loud as I want on my end to hear even when the windows are down and I am cruising on the back roads here in Montana! Definitely recommend.

Pros: Sound for calls and CD's Color settings

Cons: BT connection for music from Ipod or Iphone is about half as loud as sound from CD and BT calling

Great receiver for the money. This receiver has features normally found on stereos $25-50 more! The faceplate has a real wow factor with tons of color combos or color flows. FM sensitivity is better than most receivers and the preamp voltage will make any other amp installs you do sound much better. The ease of use isn't great, but within a week you are a pro at navigating this head unit. A great feature of this receiver is the low/high amp settings. If you are running stock speakers, running low amp gain keeps the receiver from blowing the speakers with more power than they can handle by limiting the max volume. If you have aftermarket speakers, you will then be able to set the amp gain to high with no fear! There is a large group of head units all around $130, but if you spend an extra $10 and get this receiver, the amount of upgrades you get is just a steal for the money. Next up are some new speakers and a sub for my setup!

Pros: Build quality, sound quality, coolness factor

Installed this device in my 2010 ranger to replace the factory radio. The difference in sound quality was quite noticeable. The JVC produces great sound across the frequency spectrum and makes the OEM speakers come alive. I'm using the blue tooth and pandora functions and enjoy the simplicity of it. The colors are a nice touch and if you have the need, you can create any effect you want. There's an option for colors to change as you listen, but it seems a bit distracting for a road vehicle. I wonder if the large dial/volume knob will last based on how many functions it has to perform. The usb port is great for playing tunes from a jump drive, using the cell phone as a source and for charging devices. The install kit absolutely sucked. Directions were wrong, the plastic cheap, and the radio is ready to fall out of the opening with the slightest pull. The stock radio had sirius plug that connected to the truck's antenna and power system which was not addressed in any of the literature or options. If you want xm/sirius, be prepared to shell out more for a compatible device.

Pros: Sound, blue tooth, pandora, colors.

Cons: Install kit no option for connecting to existing sirius plug

I purchased this stereo as an entry level head unit to update the older stereo in my class A motorhome. I wanted a unit that was Bluetooth capable and boy was I pleasantly surprised at all this unit provides especially for the great price. First off, driving a 32' 18,000 lb. motorhome down the highway I really don't want to deal with any distractions from a cumbersome stereo. The main items I wanted was: Bluetooth capability, an actual round volume knob to turn music up or down instantly without having to hold in on a button. (Dumb engineering idea by the way), and hands free talking for phone calls. This unit does all of this plus more. It has the usb connection for any mp3, 1/8" line input for any type of audio, and more. The best part is how easy it connects with my Iphone 5 for Pandora and phone calls. I just jump into RV, turn on stereo and it does the rest. Another great plus is I have been using stereo with Google maps and RVParky via Iphone and voice directions play over stereo car speakers! It comes with a microphone that I mounted on steering column and have not had any complaints from callers. I really did get everything I wanted from this stereo and way more. JVC has always been a solid equipment company and this unit exhibits that and more.

Pros: Easy Installation Great Price Lots of Options Versatile Clear voice for phone calls Works great with Pandora Bluetooth connects great and stays connected Selectable display brightness and color

Cons: Haven't found any cons yet since install of May 2014

There is nothing that makes this radio stand out. The sound and controls are about the same as the Kenwood and Pioneer I also own. I had an extremely cheap media only version of this same head unit in my old junk car. I needed bluetooth calling in my new car. The old cheap media unit worked perfectly for this. However, this head unit has such poor bluetooth that I can't use it with most of my customers. It sweals and they can't understand me. It cuts out constantly. I even called into tech support for help. With some fine tuning it stopped the squealing but my customers still can't hear me.

Seriously, the only reason people replace factory car stereos today is because they need a feature like bluetooth that did not come with the car.

My other complaint is that you can only really use playlist. If you have an 80GB ipod and want to go from Adele to ZZ-top then it will take 5 minutes of scrolling. It's just easier to disconnect the iPod and use that interface and then plug it back in.

    Pros: Lighting effects

Cons: Horrible bluetooth Media controls Lack of backlighting on center buttons for shuffle, etc

The install directions for a 2001 Toyota Tacoma, left out some panel information which I will share with those that run a Tacoma. There are three (3) screws, 1 in the lower right side behind the ash tray. The other two are behind the Climate control panel, on the right side it is the middle screw, on the left It is the top screw, with these three screws removed you can remove the panel. The rest of the install was a breeze. So glad I went with this JVC. Nice

I ordered this on a Wednesday afternoon and it arrived on Friday afternoon, so the service was was quick and accurate... I installed this JVC the following Monday and all I can say is Wow! It has made my stock speakers come alive.... I hear a lot more range along with volume in all music... I haven't learned all the controls yet, so I know once it is dialed in correctly, it will be even more awesome... The only thing is that it makes me wonder if I need to even upgrade my stock speakers now...

Pros: Decently priced, full of features, great sound and clarity, stylish

Cons: None that I can see unless you count the fact that it now makes me question whether or not I even need to change out my factory speakers Lol...

It had everything my young new driver could ask for and then some. Needed the color selection to match the older dash controls of his vehicle, and the expand-ability so he could add as he came up with the funds. Great deal and great buy over-all.

This is our 2nd one.after putting this in my truck, the wife had to have one in her car.of course I changed all factory speakers and added a small sub,but this unit has all the built in features and controls to work with most any combo.i did give 4 stars for ease of use, only because for non electronic types it can be a little much to navigate all the features at first. The pro eq has a 5 band eq that lets you really dial in the sound to your vehicle but, also has a 3 band or pre sets for those who don't want to tinker with the unit. Built in hp and lp filters with adjustable levels is a great addition for a unit in this low of price range. All in all I would recommend this to anyone that is not looking for the very top of the line but still wants great sound at a good price. The crutch field included install parts makes install a breeze. Defiantly worth considering.

Pros: Lots of usable features.. Bluetooth etc..great sound.. Hands free. Practically infinite adjustments.

Cons: Can be intimidating to some at first.. But the manual is quite clear and user friendly.

Very powerful radio that was super loud when i turned it to full volume. The ability to change display colors in three zones is awesome. You can utilize various built-in color schemes and the colors will pulsate to the beat of the music if you like. Radio Data System works great in Chicago. Has thumbdrive USB and aux jack but I use Bluetooth for calls and music. The price was good compared to other vendors I looked at and Crutchfield provides all the accessories for about 50% off which is awesome. Great sound and well built and looks really cool. I have had people ask me what is flashing in my car when they see my radio flashing the various colors at night. Cool factor is off the chart. You will not regret buying this radio and the slight shortcomings/con are not a big deal to me but thought I would mention them for an honest review.

Pros: Affordable, colorful, powerful sound, excellent bluetooth sound, clearly readable text, Siri Eyes Free to control your iPhone for certain functions, detachable faceplate,, Satellite Radio Ready, 6-channel preouts, remote control, 2 year warranty, 3 with my Amex, 5 band EQ

Cons: not as easy to read during sunny days, clock not displayed during Radio Data System, limited remote control features, buttons are a little small for my taste, slow response when moving from the different sources like AM to FM to USB to bluetooth, etc.

I spent some time searching for a good replacement after my receiver was stolen (I was ignorant and never removed the faceplate). I compared this receiver with an Alpine CDE-152, Alpine UTE-52BT, Sony MEX-N5000BT, and Clarion CZ702. These are all great receivers that are rated highly by many people. My decision came down to the JVC receiver's features. This receiver has front, rear, and subwoofer pre-amp outputs (4.8V). The higher voltage sends a better signal to your amplifiers. The front USB input is compatible with an iPhone cable and charges your apple device. There is a detachable face which was a must for me considering my last receiver was stolen. Unfortunately, it does not come with a case so I had to find my own. There are plenty of audio controls and there are options for the presets, Easy EQ, and Pro EQ which makes fine tuning the sound very user-friendly. The built-in iPod controls work very well but can be a bit confusing at first. It is a bit hard to figure out how to navigate the iPod mode (playlists, etc.). The screen is a decent size and it is easy to read. I really enjoy the custom color illumination. The interface for this can be a bit confusing but there are a ton of options to pick from. It is similar to a RGB setting so you can get almost any color you want and the colors can be different for the button panel, screen, and USB / AUX inputs. Overall, it is pretty easy to use, sounds great, and for the price you can't beat it.

Pros: - 3 Pre-Amp Outputs (4.8V) - Front USB and AUX inputs. - Plays CDs - 5-band Parametric EQ with 12 Preset Tone Curves. - Built-in Amplifier is 22W x 4-Channels (not great but better than others) - Screen is easy to read. - Custom color illumination in 3 separate areas. - Low / High Amp power options (Volume adjustment either 0-30 or 0-50)

Cons: - Faceplate feels a bit delicate. - Interface / Controls can be somewhat confusing. - The adjustment range for some of the Audio options could be a bit wider.

Installed in 2006 Pontiac Vibe factory Monsoon system with amp, to replace factory head unit. Initial quality ok. Love the ability to set up two bluetooth phones, call and audio separately too!! Also look the instant way to mute the sound with pressing the knob. The unit does take about 30 to 60 seconds to re-pair with my iPhone 4S each time I start it up; this can be a bit annoying. The unit occasionally forgets my phone is paired for audio as well and I have to re-establish that; this is midly irritating. This unit comes with external microphone for hands-free calling, a reason for my purchase, but the microphone (installed on top of the steering column behind the wheel) is not that sensitive and does pick up a bit of ambient noise. You can adjust the sensitivity, but it doesn't perform as nice as the factory unit in our Nissan. Another mild complaint is that you can store 18 FM stations, but the can only quickly choose the first 6. The rest have to be scrolled to.This unit does play well with an android device. I would recommend for the price still, just wish the pairing "forgetfulness" could be resolved. i almost forgot, I did have to reset the unit once after it froze on me. I have had the unit for about 2 months now.

Pros: bluetooth calling, BT audio, ability to pair one phone for calling and another BT deice for audio, compliant with iTunes podcast playback, USB port for direct auido

Cons: only able to one touch first 6 FM stored stations, takes about 30 to 60 seconds to re-establish BT audio connection when getting back in car, "forgets" audio playback pairing

I MISS KNOBS, i would rather have less features with hi quality easy to use knobs!!! Anyone tech savvy or under 30 will have no problem with this though. I bought this same deck for my boys 1999 Plymouth breeze, fit perfect and wire harness too. i still haven't put the time into stopping the DEMO mode, there's enough flashing lights and colors to put you into a seizure lol. I do recommend this deck. Shipped fast also. Thanks Crutchfield!

Just installed this last night in a 2001 Infiniti QX4 (Same as Nissan Pathfinder) with the factory Bose system which annoyingly can be difficult to interface with. I was able to set up all the functions and adjust the screen color and brightness to my preferred settings without even consulting the manual. Great EQ options, great app interface for my Nexus 5 android phone, great color options, good preamp outputs, displays radio info on the screen, easy bluetooth pairing and controls. I haven't tested out the aux input yet to see if I need a ground loop isolation aux cable to get rid of the buzzing you can get on a lot of factory systems. I also haven't tested out the USB functionality yet. I wish it has a separate power antenna wire. I had to wire the power antenna to the remote amp turn-on so now the antenna goes up as soon as the stereo is turned on instead of only when FM/AM is selected as a source. It seems like many stereos no longer include the power antenna wire so its not too big a deal. I also wish it had an HD tuner, but at this price point I can't complain. I was also able to get it to work perfectly with my factory steering wheel controls using a SWI-RC.

Pros: Easy install, Easy to use, Great features, Good strong preamp outs, Great bluetooth controls, works with my factory steering wheel controls (with SWI-RC)

Cons: No separate power antenna wire, no HD tuner (can't complain at this price but that was the one feature I wish it had)

I really like this unit. It was easy to install and set up. I like all the color options and the idea of the Bluetooth functionality. However, the Bluetooth has one annoying issue. If you have two Bluetooth devices connected (one for audio and one for phone calls), you may experience an issue when you take a phone call. If you have the music paused then take a phone call, the music will resume after you end the phone call. I'm a delivery driver, so while this may seem like a really specific issue to some, it's a constant issue for me. Other than that, I like this unit. It's easy to adjust the settings and has a great parametric EQ if you like to be really specific with your EQ settings.

Easy install. Excellent power, even running through the factory amp. Sounds great. Very good dynamics and tonal control.

Pros: Easy install. Strong sound and much improvement I've the factory system, even with the stock speakers (maybe replace them shortly?).

Cons: Bluetooth connection for audio streaming is kind of slow.

After spending a couple days researching and reading reviews, I decided to buy this radio. Great buy for the price. Great sound through my stock 95 GMC Sierra speakers. (Although an upgrade is coming soon.) Bluetooth pairing is great! The kids love that we can now listen to FROZEN in the truck through bluetooth streaming.

Pros: Bluetooth. Tons of color options.

    Cons: none

This is a very well thought out and executed product: The installation was a breeze -- Crutchfield parts and knowhow was the key to a fast and very successful install. The features of the radio are excellent for the private party with a modest budget. I purchased two of these units for my car and my grandsons car...we are both smiling all day as the tunes caress our ears (albeit very different tunes).

Pros: We like everything about these units.

    Cons: None....yet

This is a great stereo for the price, and as always, easy to install with Crutchfields install kit.

Pros: Easy installation , great price, and ships quickly!! Stereo sounds great in my sons Jeep, and had installed in about 45 minutes. I pre-wired adapters to save time sitting in the vehicle, and it worked out great.

Cons: My only issue, was there was no apparent way of securing the stereo inside the mounting sleeve, and I could not find anything in the directions to help in this issue. I finally just bent the tabs on the sleeve up against the plastic mounting bracket. Seems to work fine.

A good buy for the money. This was my first radio installation . I am soooo glad I bought from Crutchfield. I had no idea that there would need to be several parts in addition to the radio and Crutchfield put a package together at no additional cost. I had to call twice for installation help and I received excellent guidance . Top notch Customer Service!

Pros: Nice looking and many color variations. This radio picks up AM stations much better than any other radio I have heard.

Cons: Operator Manual could be better but I figured it out soon enough.

I've been using JVC head units as replacements for many year now and have never been disappointed and this is no exception. It was easy to install, easy to setup, especially the Bluetooth. A minor personal thing...I wish I could make the display solid purple.

The CD player quit working after approximately 45 days--kept getting error message to eject disk immediately after it was inserted. Called Crutchfield support and they were great, as always. They are sending me a replacement unit.

Pros: The unit worked well and had great sound until the CD player malfunctioned. Other than the failure of the CD mechansim/player, I had no problems and was very happy.

Cons: CD player had a defect which manifested itself after a month and a half.

Really good stereo. Good bluetooth sound, microphone is great, I placed it on the rear-view mirror. Lots of station preset room, loved that it connects with my Iphone easily. I can play playlists off my phone quickly and easily. Sound quality is really good. Love that there were a variety of equalizer presets to choose from - Jazz, Hard Rock, vocal boost, etc. If the presets don't do it for you, you can create two of your own. Good value, great product. The screen can be a little difficult to read in daylight, but playing with the colors remedied that. Default isn't set to display the clock, so you have to change it to do so. Would have liked the clock to be present on all screens. But that really is my only criticism. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Pros: Value, sound quality, equalizer presets, good bluetooth. Seamlessly interacts with my Iphone. Also liked the color options.

Cons: Have to play around with the colors to get a good clear version during daylight hours. Wish clock would always show. You have to choose clock, or the station/track title to display.

Great unit. Paired with the right speakers and you have a super package. So many options too customize to make it your own. But also that is what makes it a little hard to navigate. Takes some time with the book to get accustom to but worth the effort.

Pros: Easy install with Crutchfields guide. Sound, display options galore. Great sound.

Cons: Options can be hard to navigate for the technically challenged.

Really great update for my 87 Toyota pickup. Fits fine and the sound is awesome even with my old speakers. Everyone is impressed by seeing it light up and they say it sounds great. Also has a plug in for sirius satellite and sirius is working great with this JVC radio and cd player. Awesome upgrade. Very happy.

Pros: Works with my old 87 Toyota which makes it worth the cost and now I also have sirius satellite reception with this JVC.

Cons: It took me some time to match and secure the wires, but had good directions. I also used wire connectors and electrical tape as I did not want the wires coming apart.

All in all this is a decent head unit, it does what it's supposed to and it sounds great even without an amp.

The Bluetooth works well, the satellite radio works well (with additional receiver), the USB port charges my iPhone 6 & the hands free phone works well.

For the money this is probably your best bet. I'm happy with my purchase.

Pros: Everything works as it should and it sounds great.

Cons: User interface stinks! Scrolling though the various menus to make changes is tedious to say the least...there is no easy way to navigate anywhere. Even changing satalite radio stations is a chore...once you set the presets it's easy but searching is a task. If you're the type of person who likes changing settings, colors, searching for sat radio stations...steer clear of this monster. If you're happy getting everything set and just listening...you'll be happy.

This is great unit, and JVC always makes great stuff. There are only two drawbacks that I have noticed so far on this piece. One, the bluetooth seems to take forever to connect to Pandora, and even after it connects, you sometimes can only get it to play by switching it over to bluetooth audio. And two, the buttons on the bottom in particular "menu" and "display" feel a little loose. I don't want to say, poor quality, but they just feel like they are one push away from falling off the faceplate. Otherwise, great sound, simple hookup, lots of options and cool features

Pros: Lots of options between bluetooth, usb, input jack, etc. color choices galore to suite any need simple and advanced EQ settings quality sound Bluetooth audio and phone work great, and the mic is included which is awesome

Cons: bluetooth seems to be a bit wonky on Pandora, when it works, it's great, but when it doesn't it just leaves you feeling a little confused

I just installed this in a 2001 jeep cherokee tonight and couldn't believe how simple it was. Paired with an install kit, siriusxm tuner and linked up to my galaxy s5 via bluetooth this is a great head unit. I usually get confused with car stereo settings but this unit is simple to navigate and I have yet to look at the manual for operation instructions. Only gave it 4 stars for value because it's a little high priced for me but these features will probably get cheaper as everyone starts putting out more models.

Pros: Ease of use, looks great, array of features.

Cons: Slightly pricey, they should all come with siriusxm tuner instead of having to buy one separate.
