These speakers were really hyped to be the best thing since sliced bread, but they really weren't that much of an upgrade over the stock Chevy speakers.

Pros: Good midrange and highs

Cons: Lousy bass--Stock speakers were better

Great Speakers

Written by: Cody Alan from Ottosen, IA on December 13, 2015

OK here's the scoop. I bought a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville with original speakers and stereo. I was using a cassette adapter to listen to music from my phone, and this work out nicely until the Auto Reverse function junked my adapter. So being stupid I bought another, this time the sound was so distorted I thought I blew my speakers out. So I came on here first because Crutchfield has been used throughout the family and I used it before on my pickup. Bought the speakers yadayada, and they work don't get me wrong, it was the Instruction Sheet Crutchfield gives out that was the problem. I spent four hours trying to tear out my backseats just to get to the rear deck. Note to yourself look it up on youtube as well, if Crutchfield could also make a video that would have saved me time and few words I'm not proud of.

Pros: Great speakers, with great bass! I always recommend Crutchfield to my friends.

Cons: Instruction Sheet needs to be reworded and reevaluated. It was awesome when I did my pickup with it, my car not so much.

Fairly easy to install - sound is much better than factory. Everyone says they are weak but doesn't matter to me as I don't go loud (I like my hearing).

Pros: Good Value, adapter supplied for free.

Cons: Needed an adapter, install a bit fiddly.

Good Value

Written by: John S from Ohio on April 22, 2015

For the price, these are just fine. They brought a high level of clarity to my stock head unit. These have a lot of treble built into them, and not a whole lot of bass. Had to reconfigure my head unit's settings dramatically from the factory paper speakers. Overall though, a much better sound.

I rated the 6X9 in the same series a star higher, because these have a very low wattage rating and don't push a lot of volume. Doesn't matter with the windows up, but there is a large difference with them down. Also, I would've gotten the 6X9 as well for my front doors instead of these had I known they would fit, even though Crutchfield says they wouldn't. I was surprised to see 6X9's from the factory in the front doors.

Pros: High clarity, good price

Cons: Low wattage, low push, low bass potential.

Crutchfield response on April 28, 2015 Thanks for taking the time to leave a review on these speakers. The front doors of your Avenger are so tight that there actually aren't many aftermarket 6x9's that'll fit easily. Our database lists the JVCs as being just a hair too big in several dimensions. You might be able to squeeze them in there, but it's so tight you risk damaging the speaker. That's why we recommend 6-1/2's or 5-1/4's instead.

I picked these up as a replacement for the 9 year old factory speakers in my wife's van. They sounded so bad that I reinstalled the old speakers after 3 days.

Pros: Price. Great return policy.

Cons: Sound. I didnt expect much mid range or bass from these, but even the highs were distorted.

Have had these in my 97 Jeep for almost a year. Great all around speakers for regular music play with Rock, Yet the bass is not very good for my jeep (soft top) I'm sure in a regular vehicle with a hard top the bass will resonate much better. They are in the roll bar for now but i just got adapters for the dash to fit 5.25's in the dash. The grille they come with gives them a very BA look.

Pros: Great looking, very reliable, and good sound.

I purchased these to replace the factory speakers in my Chevy Cobalt that had gone out. They are acceptable with no surprises - bass is not as low as factory, high end is pretty clear but nothing to write home about. Buy these for a cheap replacement, but don't expect to be wowed by them.

Pros: Low cost, clear high end

Cons: Poor bass, other better speakers are not too much more expensive

I think these door speakers are good for your back doors because not a lot of bass comes from these. They are great for mids and highs though. I have played many types of music on these and the all sound crisp and clear. I personally think they sound great for rock songs and most rap.

Pros: Easy to install, nice sound, great price.

Cons: None as of now

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall I'm pretty happy with this purchase. The speakers provide plenty of good clear sound. If I had it to do over again, I would have chosen a larger speaker to pick up a little more low end. As far as the Crutchfield Mastersheet goes, it should provide more detail around clip placement and panel removal. I ended up calling the help desk who was very helpful in providing more detail.

Sound quality is very good, far better than the factory speakers. Real good mid range sound, and excellent high range sound. Bass is as expected for a 5 1/4". Overall very good speaker. The only down fall is the mounting holes. They just didn't come close to being an "exact fit" as described.

Pros: Good sound quality.

Cons: Didn't fit well.
