Definately better than stock

Written by: Scott from North Carolina on July 25, 2015

I just (10 minutes ago) replaced all 4 of the stock Alpine speakers and (disconnected) tweeters with these speakers in my 2006 Honda Pilot EXL w/Res and it sounds much better, especially when I run the mp3 player through them. You can buy a cable and run the mp3 through the RCA plugs that are located in the backseat for the DVD player/video games, etc. I did not have to cut the back out of the factory cup/mounting bracket for the speaker mounting, they all four fit perfectly. After the first door removal and speaker installation the other three were easy, took me about 1 1/2 hours but will go much faster not that I know what I am doing, between Crutchfields instructions and a youtube tutorial on my suv, it was a "piece of cake". Good luck, it is worth it!!!

Pros: Sound much better than stock at a good price.

Cons: Wish I had a lot more money to spend but this will do very well for now.

2010 Chevrolet Equinox
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought them to replace some blown speakers in my Chevy Equinox front door and they don't have much bass but the clarity is good but I wanted more bass

Pros: Not blown

Cons: No bass

Crutchfield response on April 15, 2015 That's a common reaction when replacing car speakers. What you can expect to hear from a new speaker is better clarity and definition in the mids and highs. So your music will sound better and more lifelike, but you might not hear more bass. The only way to get more bass is to add more power, and if you want to keep the factory radio, that means adding an amplifier. A small (40-50 watts), 4-channel amp can supply twice the power of an aftermarket stereo and three or four times the power of the typical factory radio. That'll improve all the sound, but you'll especially hear it in the fullness of the bass.

The included mounting brackets and wire harness to tie into the existing factory system we a nice benefit. The included how to vehicle specific instructions was a nice touch. As for the speakers, they seem to be as good in sound quality as the factory GM speakers I replaced so that was good. A quality speaker for a decent price.

Pros: The instructions made it easy to do, I installed 4 speakers, which included the removing and replacement of 4 door panels in about 1 hours time.

Cons: At the moment, none.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For $50 you can't ask for a better pair of speakers. I replaced the front speakers in my 2007 cobalt which had gone out. With the installation parts crutchfield provides, it took me about 45 minutes. I've had these for a good month now, and they sound great, the highs are really crisp over my subwoofer, and they can provide the mids just as well. I haven't tested the lows as I have a subwoofer so I have a high pass filter on my cab speakers.

Pros: Easy install, great sound

Cons: Connecter pins are a bit flimsy

Great Speakers at a Great Price

1995 Chevrolet Tahoe
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I couldn't be happier with these speakers. I treated myself to 4 of them for my '95 Tahoe (yes, they will fit in the rear doors too), and they sound fantastic. Strong & solid base, crisp mid-range and highs. They would have been a bargain at regular price, but at the sale price with a new JVC receiver, they are an absolute steal. I know there are more expensive brands out there, but I don't think you can find much better for the price in this range. And if you haven't decided where to buy your gear, even if it isn't these, don't look anywhere else but here. The folks at Crutchfield are awesome. Rhonda was a great sales advisor, and after I realized the 6.5' would fit in the rear doors, she helped me swap the 5.25's I bought for them for another pair of 6.5's. All this plus free mounting hardware and wiring harnesses makes it a can't miss buy.

Pros: Great value for the price; Cool looking speaker grill (though I couldn't use them in my vehicle); Really awesome sound, and more than enough base unless you just want to vibrate your vehicle apart.

Cons: None...I highly recommend them.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers sound great matched up w/ a JVC head unit and crossed over. Mids and highs sound great; can't comment on bass response as all mine comes out of the sub. Fit was not exact; even w/ the bracket. You play the game of matching it as best as you can, then drilling another hole in the door and carefully routing the wire - after soldering on the new leads. Still not a difficult installation overall, and the sound is great. Crutchfield's master sheet made the door panel removal a breeze.

Pros: Price, sound, mids and highs

Cons: Fitment not exact, even w/ included bracket for Nissan Xterra rear speakers.

Good for the price. They were very muddy in the rear doors of my Jetta, so I moved them to the front doors and they sound OK there. May work fine for other vehicles.

Pros: Fairly balanced sound for a cheapy. Happy that it had the hybrid fabric surround. Handles enough power for the factory head unit. Two-way with coaxial tweeter is not the smoothest, but its nearly as good as the factory speakers before they blew out.

Cons: Shipped with wimpy adapters and 'harness' connector that did not power the satellite tweeter. If you do not need those componenets, these are perfectly good inexpensive speakers.

Better than blown

Written by: Eric-T from 6000 Ft on May 16, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you are replacing blown speakers and do not want to spend much these will be OK. They add the bass back into door speakers and will probably last. The midrange is weak and the tweeter is one of those chromed poly domes with chrome plastic flash. You will never see the tacky chrome unless you surface mount and the performance of the tweeter is not so good. I put them in the rear doors of an old Jeep Grand Cherokee and they are fine, especially compared to the original speakers which had no foam supporting the cones.

Pros: Tuff, and good bass at a value price

Cons: Midrange and high frequencies weak.

I gotta say I love these speakers. I installed them in my 2000 civic sedan front sides and they are very crisp. Not raspy to the point where my ears feel like they are gonna bleed which is good. They don't have any bass at all though which I figured based on the material they are made out of, but I was not expecting bass, I wanted something crisp and clear that will compliment the sound of my sub.

Pros: Very clear crisp

Cons: not really an issue for me but these speakers have no bass so if you want some bassy speakers don't get these i suppose.

Features

Woofer: Mica is added to an aramid and carbon fiber composite olefin base, resulting in a rigid, light, and durable cone.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1" PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) balanced-dome tweeter; PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter.

Woofer Mounting: In addition to fitting standard 6-1/2 and 4-hole 6-1/2 applications, the speaker also has a standard 6-3/4 bolt pattern. However, if mounted in a 6-3/4 location the holes for the smaller pattern create an air leak, which must be sealed using a speaker baffle, or something similar.
