Crutchfield is the best. Their fit guide was very helpful as I bought a similar pair of JVCs from another site what didn't fit right. So, lesson learned, get the right speakers from Crutchfield and the included speaker harnesses saved me a lot of installation time.

For the price, these are just fine. They brought a high level of clarity to my stock head unit. These have a lot of treble built into them, and not a whole lot of bass. Had to reconfigure my head unit's settings dramatically from the factory paper speakers. Overall though, a much better sound.

Pros: Clarity, price.

Cons: Natural high treble, not much bass potential.

2009 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Added these speakers to my 2009 Toyota Tacoma. Slight improvement in sound quality with vocals and mid-ranged improved greatly. For the amount of money... good choice if you just want a simple "bolt-on" upgrade. Much improved over the "made in Mexico" stock garbage speakers they replaced. Love the fact that the installation hardware and wire was also included. I have been buying car audio from Crutchfield since 1989.... and will continue to do so! My order was in my hands 48 hrs after placement and it took less than 30 min to install. Thank you to my product advisor (Crutchfield Rep.) for great service!

Pros: Price, service and free service and installation instructions!

Cons: Kinda wishing sound could be slightly better (reason for 4 star)... However, much improved over factory speakers!

For the money, I don't think you will go wrong with this speaker.

Pros: Good sound quality for the price. I don't expect very good sound quality, but it is night and day difference between factory stock speaker for sure.

Cons: Lack a bit Clearity compare to low end focal speaker that I installed on my other car. I know it's unfair to compare it to speaker that is 3 times the price of this speaker. But just can't help to compare them.

Used as a replacement for factory speakers that were falling apart. Matched up w/ a JVC head unit; sounds great. I have these crossed over, so I can't comment on bass response, but all the highs and mids are crystal clear. Speakers look great as well; too bad they're hidden behind a door panel.

Pros: Direct replacement for my Nissan Xterra, aside from having to solder the new wire leads on. Great mid and high response, especially for the price.

Cons: None so far!

2004 Oldsmobile Alero
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed new rear deck speakers after my son blew one of them out in my '04 Olds Alero. I chose these because the Alero has bi-amp outputs (low frequency outputs and high frequency outputs) It was a simple matter of cutting the tweeter wires off the posts and soldering them to the wires from the amp, and then connecting the other wires with the posts. Mounting them was also very easy, although you won't be able to use the covers that come with these, as the rear deck has built in covers. The entire procedure took one hour from start to finish, and the results were very much worth the price and time put in.

Pros: 1. Very good price for the sound quality 2. Solid construction. 3. Smooth/balanced sound from the lowest lows and the highs extend beyond the stock speakers.

Cons: None at this time.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed as part of a full factory replacement on a 2014 Nissan Sentra. Much cleaner sound than the factory speakers at all volume levels.

Pros: Good overall sound at an affordable price.

Cons: Unfortunately there was no MasterSheet for my car so I had to look elsewhere for instructions on how to disassemble my car's interior, a not so difficult but lenghty process. The speakers fit on the rear deck but the screw holes fell just outside of the speaker frame. I used silicone adhesive to hold the speaker in place and screws with big washers on the perimeter of the speaker and it worked perfectly.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great sounding speakers and a great addition to the new in-dash unit. While installation should be easy in many cars, it was VERY difficult installing these in the rear of a 2001 Honda Civic EX. The entire rear seat Cushions and back part) as well as the passenger side panels had to be removed to gain access to the rear speakers. But once installed it was worth it as they are a great improvement over the OEM speakers.

Pros: Great sound

Cons: Difficult installation in my application (but not in most).

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the cracked rear deck speakers on my 2002 Honda Civic with JVC CS-V6938 6"x9" 3-way car speakers. The results were amazing. I didn't know what I was missing. The install went easily and took about an hour. Crutchfield, sent the adapters to the speakers from the special Honda plugs - for free. I should have done this years ago. The Honda speakers install under the rear deck in the 2002 Civic. The instructions from Crutchfield were good. This took about an hour. I did find a couple of videos online with tips that helped me, I'm a visual learner. This was a very good investment.

Pros: 3 way speakers cover the full spectrum of sounds, making the mid ranges pop out and can understand the song words better. Much better bass than factory speakers.

Cons: None, except now I am considering changing out the front speakers.

JVC CS-V6938 Are Great

Written by: Anonymous from Barrie, Ontario on April 12, 2014

These are a great set if speakers and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to replace their stock speakers. Originally had them in my 00 Oldsmobile Intrigue and now I've put them in my 12 Impala. They was no modifications whatsoever and they directly fit in. These speakers might look tall by they are pretty shallow. They have great high, mid and lows.

Pros: Cheap, great bass, mid and lows

Cons: None

Excellent bass, mids, and highs

Written by: Patrick from State Center, IA on April 6, 2014

Generally speaking, deck or enclosure-mounted 6x9's give more bass response than 5x7 / 6x8's do. That said, the rear deck-mounted factory 6x9's in my wife's cavalier were pretty much shot, so I picked a pair of these up. What a difference. The highs are crisp and easily audible with low input. Mids are also amazing and full. But the big surprise is the bass. With a new JVC head unit and no amp, these things actually put out bass that you can feel, and the quality is amazing as well. Very clear. My only gripe is that now I have to buy front speakers too, because these sound so good, you can't even hear the front oem's! Great buy.

Pros: Excellent clarity, great highs, great mids, greata lows, no distortion at higher power levels.

Cons: None

Written by: Mark W from Calhoun, GA on March 16, 2014

2000 Pontiac Grand Am
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good sounding speakers for the price, frequency range more than enough for the head unit we're using them with, but there were some modifications necessary to make them fit into the plastic housing on the rear deck. The stock speaker housing had four clips to hold the speaker frame in place, and these had to be removed and sanded flat to make sure the speaker would be seated on the silicone seal. This means using the supplied screws to secure the speaker to the stock housing. Also, these screws were a little long and had to be cut down slightly in order for the housing to sit flush on the rear deck. None of this was difficult or took long to accomplish, and the resulting sound performance is really good.

Pros: Good sound, reasonable price, and just short of plug-&-play in our Grand AM.

Cons: Some minor mods necessary for them to fit securely.

Purchases for 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT1. I put these speakers in the rear dead to replace the aging (original stock) speakers. Installation of the speakers was easy but GM's design for the rear deck on this model forced me to remove the side trim panels to raise the rear deck (grill is part of the deck and is not detachable). On the stock speaker mount brackets, I had to break off all of the clips that held in the original speaker (original speaker is not screwed/bolted down) and screw down these JVCs

These speakers are being run off of the original stock radio atm. They work well and I enjoy sound from the back of the car once again.

Pros: Fit my car stock

Cons: None at the moment.

Picked these up because they were on sale, and cheap.

They aren't terrible, but not stellar either. They sound better than factory, and better than some other like-priced speakers.

These are good basic speakers that will work fine for most people. Not going to blow your mind, but not going to leave you feeling cheated, either.

Pros: Sound decent. Good overall value if you are on a budget, or just like to save money.

Cons: This is just me, but these are ugly speakers. Fine if you hide them. Also, the included grills are worthless- no protection. If you have kids, make sure you can mount these in the factory spots behind some real grills.

I can't testify to the bass as i have 2 12's in the trunk and those override any bass from these. i bought these for the mid range. I used these to replace my factory 6x9's, and the sound is really decent even without an AMP. With any speaker that you are trying to get some bass response from, you need to make sure they are secured down very tight. And if you can put them in boxes, or enclose around the back side of the speaker, it will only help. Sorry I can't answer your direct question. But reputable brand, and good price for the features. Have them connected without an amp. Sound better than a $70 pair of speakers. Very good speakers for the price. Good bass for 6"x9" speakers. If you want sub-woofer bass. Buy a sub-woofer. [ Paul  Apr 21, 2015 ]
Hello, I did not connect these to an amp. I hooked them up to a stock Honda radio. They sounded very good. [ Brian  Apr 20, 2015 ]
I didn't use an amp with the radio I bought wirh it but if it's a factory one I may recommend it [ JOHN  Apr 01, 2015 ]
Reid I would recommend using an amp. The speakers did sound great in the beginning powering then with the JVC unit I installed. I listen to a lot of Pandora through my iPhone, but when I would get meeting notices/email/text messages. That would broadcast over the speakers. I feel the extreme sharp tones from these notifications stressed the head unit and ultimately blew one of the 6x9 ( which I will now need to replace) I don't think it would have been a problem if I used an amp (it would have handled the peaks much better than my head unit...which I think was around 20rms, 45peak) Hope that helps Ed [ EDWARD F  Apr 01, 2015 ]
I replaced my speakers to match my jvc media receiver about two years ago and haven't run into any problems yet. The speakers just clipped right into the existing wire harness and have plenty of bass with out adding an amp. You should be just fine :) Neil P. Dodge Caliber R/T [ NEIL A  Apr 01, 2015 ]
