Q
I want to put 6x9's in my cars factory 6x8 location. What I want to know is why you guys say they won't fit. If they are too deep or if they would fit if I trim or modify it otherwise?

Q
Has anyone connected these to an amp? Hows the bass sound with or without an amp?

I can't testify to the bass as i have 2 12's in the trunk and those override any bass from these. i bought these for the mid range. I used these to replace my factory 6x9's, and the sound is really decent even without an AMP. With any speaker that you are trying to get some bass response from, you need to make sure they are secured down very tight. And if you can put them in boxes, or enclose around the back side of the speaker, it will only help. Sorry I can't answer your direct question. But reputable brand, and good price for the features.

Have them connected without an amp. Sound better than a $70 pair of speakers. Very good speakers for the price. Good bass for 6"x9" speakers. If you want sub-woofer bass. Buy a sub-woofer.

Hello, I did not connect these to an amp. I hooked them up to a stock Honda radio. They sounded very good.

Q
Will I need an amp for these speakers or can I just hook them up and expect my factory radio to do the job? I did replace my radio with a new JVC media receiver

I didn't use an amp with the radio I bought wirh it but if it's a factory one I may recommend it

Reid I would recommend using an amp. The speakers did sound great in the beginning powering then with the JVC unit I installed. I listen to a lot of Pandora through my iPhone, but when I would get meeting notices/email/text messages. That would broadcast over the speakers. I feel the extreme sharp tones from these notifications stressed the head unit and ultimately blew one of the 6x9 ( which I will now need to replace) I don't think it would have been a problem if I used an amp (it would have handled the peaks much better than my head unit...which I think was around 20rms, 45peak) Hope that helps Ed

I replaced my speakers to match my jvc media receiver about two years ago and haven't run into any problems yet. The speakers just clipped right into the existing wire harness and have plenty of bass with out adding an amp. You should be just fine :) Neil P. Dodge Caliber R/T
