Easy-to-read display
No more scrolling words — the JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT CD receiver features a 4-line display that makes it easy to read song info no matter which source you choose. So whether you're listening to tunes on your iPod, checking out Pandora® on your iPhone, or streaming an app from your Android™ phone, you'll know what's playing at a glance. When a call comes in, it'll be easy to tell who's on the other line.

Plus, you can customize the look — choose from over 30,000 different shades for the left and right sides of the receiver. And you can rest easy knowing the receiver is covered by the Arsenal two-year warranty.

Bluetooth® included
Hands-free calling is just the beginning — think of Bluetooth as a wireless bridge between your smartphone and your dash. JVC includes a tiny little Bluetooth dongle that fits nicely on one of the rear USB inputs. Pair up this JVC and an Android™ smartphone, and you can harness Bluetooth's full — you'll be able to receive text message notification, stream music, or access Internet radio stations, depending on your phone's features. iPhone® users get the same features while connected via USB.

Smart Remote for Android™ smartphones
JVC's Smart Remote Android app lets you use your compatible Android phone's touchscreen to control the action using finger swipes and gestures — for example, tap the screen to play and pause, or swipe right to skip forward a track. Install your Android phone in a mount in a convenient spot, then you'll be able to reach down and skip a track without taking your eyes off the road.

Pair two phones at once
The KD-A95BT's built-in Bluetooth lets you pair two phones at once — no need to choose between your personal and business phones. When a call comes in, the receiver will blink either blue or red, so you'll know at a glance if your call is coming from home or the office. To answer a call, just tap the volume knob.

Higher-power USB connection
JVC upped the power in their USB port, which lets you keep your smartphone charged, even when it's doing several tasks at once. And with your smartphone connected, you can listen to its internal memory as one source and access the little microSD card as another.

Control PANDORA® Internet radio
JVC makes it easy to play your favorite PANDORA Internet Radio stations. iPhone users can control PANDORA when connected to the USB slot, while Android and Blackberry owners get full control of Pandora over the Bluetooth connection, depending on your phone's features.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this JVC stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the JVC, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Burr-Brown 24-bit D/A Converter: The JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT CD receiver utilizes a premium TI/Burr-Brown 24-bit digital-to-analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The KD-A95BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the KD-A95BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the KD-A95BT are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 20 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

5V/6CH Preamp Output: The KD-A95BT is equipped with three pair of 5V gold-plated preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front & rear preamp outputs offer balance/fade control and are designed to hookup to a full-range 4-channel amplifier. The subwoofer preamp output is non-fading and designed to hookup to a mono-block subwoofer amplifier. You can adjust the head unit's subwoofer level between 0 and 8, as well as the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse).

Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KD-A95BT with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

My Sound EQ: The My Sound EQ features lets you customize your car audio system's sound by listening to test tones in five frequencies (All, Low, Middle, Middle-High, High), each represented by a different type of instrument. You can adjust the level of each frequency between -9 to +9. You can save up to 3 My Sound EQ Profiles (Sound 1/2/3) for easy recall. You can also download sample music (instruments) in various genres for the My Sound EQ function from the JVC mobile website onto a USB thumbdrive.

5-Band EQ (with Presets): You can select a preset sound mode suitable for your music. You can select from Flat, Natural, Dynamic, Vocal, Bass, or User. The User mode lets you customize the head unit's 5-band EQ (50Hz, 200Hz, 800hz, 3.2kHz, 12.5kHz) from +/-9dB.

Source Link EQ: This feature allows you to store the head unit's Preset EQ or 5-band EQ settings for each source (CD, AM/FM, Aux, USB, iPod, Bluetooth, and Pandora).

DSP Control: In order to optimize the sound quality, you can use the head unit's DSP control to set the type of vehicle, your seated position, and speaker size, distance, & x-over points. The DSP settings include the following:

    • Car Type: You can choose what type of vehicle you have; Compact, Sedan (medium), Sedan (large), SUV, SUV (small), X'over, Truck, Wagon, Minivan, or Van.
    • Seated Position: For a better sound-stage you can select your optimal listening position. You can choose from All, Front Left, Front Right or Front.
    • Time Alignment: You can manually fine tune the sound stage by selecting the distance for each individual speaker in the vehicle compared to your listening position. You can select between 1.6-16.4' for the Left Front Speaker, Right Front Speaker, Left Rear Speaker, Right Rear Speaker, and Subwoofer.
    • Speaker Crossover: You can choose between an Easy crossover setup or Pro (custom) crossover setup for your audio system.
      • Easy: The speaker X'over is automatically set when the size of each speaker is select from the following items.
        • Front/Rear: select from full-range, 4", 5-1/4", 6-1/2", 6-3/4", 7", 4x6", 5x7", 6x8", 6x9", or 7x10"
        • Subwoofer: select from full-range, 6-1/2", 8", 10", 12", or 15" + over
      • Pro (Custom): The JVC head unit offers a high-pass crossover for the front & rear speaker/preamp channels and a low-pass crossover for the unit's subwoofer preamp output.
        • High-Pass Crossover (Front/Rear): variable high-pass filter (30-200Hz) and crossover slope (-12/-18/-24 dB per octave); frequencies lower than the selected frequency are cut-off from the front and rear speakers
        • Low-Pass Crossover (Subwoofer): variable low-pass filter (30-200Hz)and crossover slope (-12/-18/-24 dB per octave); frequencies lower than the selected frequency are sent to the subwoofer.

D.T. Expander (Digital Track Expander): The Digital Track Expander feature compensates for harsh high frequency sound in compressed digital tracks. The Digital Track Expander effect can be used for MP3/WMA (64-128 kbps) audio files and iPod/iPhone music files.

Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. The Loudness features has four settings (1, 2, 3, or off).

Key-Touch Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    Built-in Bluetooth

USB Bluetooth Adapter: The JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT comes supplied with a USB Bluetooth Adapter (KS-UBT1) which is pre-installed into the head unit's rear-panel USB 1 input, making the KD-A95BT Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR certified. The KD-A95BT supports Bluetooth hands-free communication and wireless audio streaming. • Audio Streaming: A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).

Pairing: Your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone or digital audio player must be paired with KD-A95BT before hands-free & wireless operation. You can register up to five Bluetooth enabled devices with the JVC head unit. You can keep two phones connected at all times (only one can be used during a call).

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC head unit. See JVC's Bluetooth compatibility chart for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled devices.

External Microphone: The JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT includes an external microphone to carry on your side of your phone conversation and voice command dialing. The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the level of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 12' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone offers an integrated mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash. The external microphone measures 0.525" (diameter) x 1.485" (depth).

Note: This unit does not offer an integrated front-panel microphone.

During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering a Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker, the head unit's display will flash (Ring Color), and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the KD-A95BT's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call. You can adjust the head unit's ring color from the unit's 29 preset colors or 30,000 custom colors.

SMS: If your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone is compatible with SMS (Short Message Service), the JVC head unit will notify you when a message has been received. You must then use your phone to check the message. You cannot read, edit, or send a message through this unit.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The KD-A95BT will be able to control basic playback functions of your Bluetooth device's stored music; such as Play/Pause, Skip Next/Previous, and Fast Forward/Rewind. The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Song and Album title. You will continue to use your Bluetooth enabled smartphone to view and control streaming music apps. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

    Pandora App

Pandora Internet Radio Control: The JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT CD receiver lets you playback and control the Pandora Internet Radio music service that is being streamed to your Apple iPhone, Android smartphone, or BlackBerry. You cannot connect a USB device via a USB hub or Multi-Card Reader to this unit.

Note: The rear-panel USB 1 port comes with the KS-UBT1 Bluetooth adapter installed. The Bluetooth adapter must remain installed for Bluetooth functionality. It can be removed to allow connection of a second USB (MSC) device.

Drive Change Mode (for BlackBerry and Android): JVC's Drive Change Mode lets you connect your Android or BlackBerry smartphone (that uses an external memory card) directly to the head unit, via USB. Drive Change Mode will let you switch between your Android or BlackBerry smartphone's internal and external memory (such as microSD Card), so you can listen to music stored on either memory. You'll continue to be able control basic playback functions; such as folder/file search, play/pause, and skip next/previous; regardless of memory type.

Auto Drive Router App: Auto Drive Router is a free JVC app from iTunes for your iPhone (iOS 5.0 or later). This app can be controlled from the JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT, when your iPhone is connected to the head unit's USB port. E-mails with map data can also be sent quickly and easily from your iPhone, letting others know where you are or where you want to meet. You can start and stop when Auto Driver Router records your routes using the in-dash CD receiver's controls. You can do all this while still listening to stored music or streamed music from your iPhone on the JVC Arsenal KD-A95BT.

    • Drive Data: This function allows you to record routes and store them as data in your iPhone, enabling you to easily retrieve data just by selecting a route from the Saved Route List. When data is called up on your iPhone, the route being taken will be shown as a single line on the map in different colors to indicate how fast you were traveling. It is also possible to zoom in and out of maps on your iPhone, as well as see the speed and altitude of routes in a graph format on the iPhone's touchscreen. By connecting an iPhone with this app installed to the KD-A95BT, you can record routes via the control knobs and buttons of the in-dash head unit.
    • Here I AM: When you select the "Here I Am" function on the Auto Drive Router app, a flag showing "Here I Am?" will appear on the on-screen Google Map of your iPhone to indicate your current location. And by using a default template, an e-mail will also be created instantaneously for delivery of the map to multiple recipients. The flag can also be placed in different locations on the on-screen map of the iPhone with the "Here I Am" function being used to e-mail changes in meeting spots. When your iPhone is connected to the JVC CD receiver, your email templates can be selected and sent directly from the head unit.
Note: The JVC head unit must be set to External/App mode. All visual navigation will be displayed on your connected iPhone (not the JVC head unit). You can only control a specific number of functions from the JVC head unit. Not compatible with iPad or other iPod models.

iPod Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position. This unit does not charge the iPad. If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.

Is there a trick to removing the faceplate after you hit the open button and it drops down? Can't seem to get it and feel like I may break it. Manual is little help. Thanks.

No real trick, just needs a little push to the left I believe. It should not need too much force, but it is in there good. I do not really remove mine, but when I have, it feels like I'm going to break it also, but I don't.
    derek  Apr 08, 2015

Sure not a problem, when the face flips down don't worry about breaking it. It was designed to be pulled right off simply by pushing to left or right and then pulling it straight out. If you want you can test it by pushing on the holding pieces out to the side and you can see how it's designed to move side to side for removal. Hope this helps.

Yes, grasp the faceplate and slide slightly left or right (can't remember) and pull the opposite end out. If I recall correctly, you kind of use the same actions to put it back in. My memory lapse is due to the fact that this stereo is in a car that has been out of use for a while. Good luck!

    Q
I just installed this unit and using with iPhone connected via USB & Bluetooth. When using any source aside from USB/Bluetooth (ie Aux In or FM) and using a GPS app on my phone (ie Google Maps or Waze), sometimes the JVC will auto mute the Aux or FM audio and inject the mapping directions and then come back to the source audio again. I like this but it's not consistent. Sometimes it works fine for a whole trip and other times not at all. I don't know what I am doing differently to make it work like this. Does anyone know?

Hi Chris, Because the GPS on your phone works like a phone call to the JVC unit, it may have something to do with the settings on the JVC unit for "answering" calls. Maybe if you change the settings either on your phone or the head units phone settings, it may be more consistent. I haven't had the issue on mine since I leave my source as Bluetooth when using Google Maps and play music from my phone's music library. Hope it works out for you.
    david  Apr 02, 2015

It may be that you've lost the internet connection which would be a function of the phone and not the unit.
    robert  Apr 01, 2015

I installed this in my wife's vehicle so really don't use it. But it could be an issue with the app itself. There's times when I use Google maps with my Bluetooth headset while listening to music and every once in a while I'll get the same issue.
    john  Apr 01, 2015

I have found that there are times when my phone is the issue and not the unit. Either on the settings for GPS the voice option was turned off or the volume level for the GPS voice was turned down. I use a HTC M8. Hopefully that is all it is. It is weird how different things on the phone will change itself volume wise with different apps.

I can see that the face has to move to insert a cd into this unit. Has anyone had any trouble with the moving parts associated with this? I've got a Sony that makes terrible noises when opening and closing and sometimes has to be "helped" by nudging the face. I've actually stopped using the cd player on the Sony.

Bob, I can say that my JVC unit opens and closes soft and smooth. I had a Sony before I bought the JVC and agree that the Sony didn't open and close smoothly. Sony had poor mechanisms in the model I bought.

I have been using my set for two years and love the blue tooth cellular and link to my Iphone. I am embarrassed to say that I have never used the CD capability. I presume that if you had a problem with it that Crutchfield would refund or exchange for you? Regards, Bill

I Really don't use the CD player at all but I can tell you that the build quality on this deck is fantastic. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it so I would be surprised if the CD player had issues.

Yes. Practically any tone of Amber or Orange. I have an older Porsche with Orange dash display and I wanted something that wouldn't look out of place. In addition to loads of features, the ability to set the display colors was why I chose this unit. I'm sure you'd be able to match other Euro display colors, like BMW, etc.

Nope. There's no variability from the dash dimmer, but you can change the brightness and color to something less offensive in the nighttime dim settings.
