Our take on the JVC Arsenal KD-AHD65

Built-in HD Radio™ for digital sound
Your favorite AM/FM stations never sounded so good. The JVC Arsenal KD-AHD65 CD receiver lets you tune in digital HD Radio brodcasts, cranking up the sound quality significantly. Many stations take advantage of the multicasting feature, which lets them broadcast additional channels on the same radio frequency, so you have more listening choices. And it's all backed by the Arsenal two-year warranty.

Put Pandora® Internet Radio in your dash
JVC makes it easy to play your favorite Pandora stations. With your iPhone connected, you can skip songs, change stations, and rate songs using the receiver's controls. Plus, the 1-amp USB port charges devices quicker and keeps them charged while they're multitasking.

Separated Variable Color display
The KD-AHD65 features a super cool display that lets you change the colors on the controls independent from those on the screen — with over 30,000 possible shades per side. That means you can create the ultimate color scheme, match your dash perfectly, or just let the colors cycle continually for a fun effect.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this JVC stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the JVC, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

It appears to be a very nice stereo. Does take some getting used to all the menu options to get it set up and running. But all in all, pretty easy to operate, good sound and good features.

This sucker rocks. I love the HD Radio, very easy to use. Looks great when installed and sound quality is good. I love the different color display options for the buttons. You can control your iPod on your iPod which is great.

Pros: Easy to adjust setting & navigate menus. Very cool color display options.

Cons: Some buttons are kind of small and you can tend to hit others when using. Not the greatest instruction manual to explain all the more in depth features.

Solid little unit. Audio quality is good when loud is switched to on (paired with infinity reference door speakers). I love the rear aux input so that I can hook in an AptX reciever instead of regular bluetooth. Great little unit that fits nicely in the car. Just beware the FM receiving isn't really good.

Great stereo all the way around. It has all the features an audiophile could ask for. The equalizer has tons of settings for perfecting the sound of your music. I paired this stereo with some Kicker speakers, and the sound quality and power output are amazing. I love the USB input, which allows you to control an iphone or ipod through the stereo, rather than fiddling with the device itself. I highly recommend this stereo.

Pros: Great sound quality. Lots of settings and input options.

Cons: The plastic faceplate has a little bit of flex to it when you push the buttons. It would be nice if it felt a little sturdier.

I bought this to replace an older model JVC radio in my car. The salesman at Crutchfield told me the unit would plug in without having to rewire anything. That's the main reason I bought another JVC radio so I wouldn't have to rewire the setup. Well he was wrong! The wiring is the same but the plugs aren't. The old unit has a big plug and the new unit a small plug. So I will have to rewire the plug after all. So I'm not too happy about that. The reason for the one star on ease of use.

    Pros:

Cons: Unit wiring not the same as the plugs are different size. Don't believe what the salesman says unless you can verify what they tell you.

Good value, Sound quality is good for me, if you talk to my wife that means nothing. Ease of use is as good as any. By that I mean I don't need glasses to drive, but to operate the radio I should have them on! So I have a learning curve to remember what buttons do what. Not the same flush mount as factory radio, but that is fairly common I would guess. Works well with my IPod. Instructions from Cructhfield again and as always made the install so easy with harness for the car. Took all of maybe an hour to install.

Pros: Color background can be adjusted to match, or come close to factory. Looks good Front USB and Aux connections

Cons: Been two weeks since install, none yet.

For the money this stereo packs in a lot options. The only thing that would make it better would be radio data service for song and album titles, but I knew that wasn't there when I bought it. I'm still very happy with what I spent versus what I received. $129 for everything including the install kit.

Pros: Lots of features for the money.

Cons: Set-up changes are a little tedious, however, there is a lot of customization which is good.

Easy install and noticed a difference right away with my stock speakers, then sounded even better with my aftermarket speakers (which I also got from Crutchfield). I like the Pro Equalizer as it has more specific adjustments than most equalizers. The HD radio is nice as well the stations sounds much clearer. I would recommend this for someone looking for an entry level head unit.

Pros: Adjustable color illumination so it matches my dash lights. Good equalizer. HD radio

Cons: Display screen has a lot of glare during the day so it is sometimes hard to read. Not very good instructions for using a non-iPod mp3 player.

Pros: The greatest is the USB port . I have a small flash drive that will hold 1000 tunes. The front plug for external players is also a plus.

Cons: Some of the buttons are to small. Had to take unit out to hook up blue wire that I was not sure about.Reception was much improved after that.

I replaced a KD-AHD69 because the Source (On/Off) Button is positioned in a better place on the KD-AHD65. The Frequency Responce of the KD-AHD65 is listed as the same as the KD-AHD69 but sounds a little better, a little fuller for CD and USB songs. I used to use Sony in my car but I have changed and have used JVC since 2010. Sony makes the best remotes but JVC beats them in display/button color options. The sound levels are about the same. With the JVC you do not get the annoying beep, beep, beep everytime you shut off your car like you do with a Sony.

Pros: USB port - Many, many color options for the display and the buttons - built in HD Radio - use same KD-AHD69 plug for KD-AHD65

Cons: Depending on the color you chose, you might have to use different color settings for the buttons and the display to make both appear the same. If the buttons look too bright after you turn down the dimmer you may have to turn down Red and/or Green and/or Blue value by one or two. KD-AHD69 remote on/off function worked but there is no remote on/off function for the KD-AHD65.

I've always loved JVC stereos. This is about my fifth one over the years. This JVC arsenal is great. Excellent HD radio quality. I've always loved having the remote control in my truck, but this model doesn't let you turn the power on or off from the remote like my previous JVC radio remotes were capable of. The USB port is awesome, no more burning CDs. However, I'm having issues with files in a given folder playing out of order and not because the radio is on "random" play. I don't mind with music folders, but when listening to an audio book you really want these files to play in order. Make sure you format your flashdrive to FAT32. Even then files play according to a hierarchy, but even with files in numerical order in a folder you may still have issues with them playing in proper order. One last thing, if you have a folder with say 150 files there isn't a way to jump by 10s to a high numbered file like previous JVC stereos could by using the mode button. You have to thumb through them one at a time. Maybe I will eventually figure this out. Still an awesome stereo.

Pros: USB port, no need to burn CDs anymore. Remote control.

Cons: Can't turn radio on or off from remote. Can jump to high numbered files by 10s, have to move one by one through them. USB file order issues when playing, may not play in proper order.

I had this installed in a 1992 Wrangler. I chose this unit for the HD radio and ability to choose what color display I wanted or to have it display them all in a rotating pattern. If you live in a big city I am sure HD is awesome. Where I live it sucks. So the chanels fade in and out and also skip like a record it's pretty bad. Has nothing to do with this unit, just HD reception is bad here.

Pros: Ever color changing display, remote, 2 ipod or other connections, USB for thumb drive connection. More bells and whistles than I need, but I got them.

Cons: None for the unit, just check out HD in your area first as you can not choose (that I am aware) to turn on or off HD and HD here in Louisville, KY sucks.

Looks good, sounds good even with factory amp and speakers, unfortunately, it wouldn't move out of the demo mode and just keep rotating through all the functions.. Installation was very easy with the kit and harnesses, took about ten minutes.

Pros: Good sound, easy installation, the I pod connection on the front is a big plus.

Cons: Buttons are pretty small, the first one sent to me had to be returned. Still waiting for the second one. Scan didn't stop on any stations and I couldn't pick up many on manual scan. I have about 25 HD stations here and it only picked up one. Not sure what the sensitivity is on the radio but if that all you listen to, this is not the head unit for you. I bought it for the I pod connection so for the money it's still a pretty good buy.

After going through a Boss, Kenwood, and Sony, the JVC reciever definitly gave me a lot more for much less than expected. My speakers, when it got to high, would distort like crazy with the other head units. With the addition of a high pass filter in the stereo, it allows me to keep my speakers from having to put out much of the low frequency and have my subs take up almost all of the bass work. This stereo is sleek, has 6 channel outputs, and has many more additions that you will rarely find in a head unit of this price. No problems with it yet.

Pros: It set up correctly, can reach very high volumes with no distortion. Havent used bluetooth yet, but also another great addition to the unit. 2 aux outputs. Great unit for a unbelieveable price.

Cons: Too many colors to pick from for the display (not a con)

Great Radio!!! I bought this radio for a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. I didn't want to spend alot of money on an aftermarket radio in a soft top Jeep. I love all the features and the radio sounds great. I like that you can select an ipod mode where you can see the displays on your ipod and use the ipod controls. Some radio's won't let you do that, you can only control the ipod from the radio. I like that you can have simple or complex audio modes (bass, mid, treble). I just want to use the simple mode. I don't care to tune every freqency of the bass, mid, and treble, but if you want to you can. You can choose seperate day and night colors and brightness that changes automatically at night. Very easy to use and setup. I like that when you are changing between am/fm/ipod ect. it waits a few seconds before it changes. That way you aren't hearing every change until you get to the mode you want. I haven't used all the features yet. I can't wait to set up an amp behind this radio. It has 3 sets of 4.8v preamp outputs for the front, rear, and subwoofer. Installs easy with adapters and Crutchfields awesome customer service.

This JVC receiver, JL Audio TR600-CXi front door speakers and Rockford Fosgate Punch P1692 (6x9) replaced the factory casette radio and speakers. I had them professionally installed. I don't play the stereo at a loud volume and the JVC has sufficient power to drive the speakers. I play mostly CDs and don't use the equalizer. This system is a vast improvement in sound quality over the factory set. I am very happy with the JVC.

Pros: One can choose the color of the illuminated display, Sufficient power for my taste. It has a tiny remote control.

Cons: Unless one changes the setting, the Demo display come son every time it's turned on. I called JVC for help in overriding the Demo. HD radio is not yet "CD-like." HD sounds flat while CDs sound full-bodied. Drums and bass are tighter on CD, cymbals ring on CD. I can't say the same for HD radio. Radio stations don't use the full capability of broadcasting in HD. Many, if not all, split the signal. HD radio does seem to sound better than regular FM, but is definitely not yet "CD-like." .

I just installed this in a 1999 Nissan Maxima. Earlier this year I purchased the AHD79 model for my Ranger. Both radios are very similiar and outstanding products. My only complaints are the installation kits. Neither kits fit the vehicles without serious modification. The Ranger kit would not fit the factory hole at all. Fortunately I was replacing another aftermarket radion with it's own kit so I used the old kit and just threw the new kit away. The Maxima kit also would not fit the factory hole, it was too wide. I had to use a Dremel to remove enough of the woodgrain frame to get the kit to slide in. Also the kits are extremely flimsy. I had to use super glue to hold the thing together. As a side note, if you are replacing a Bose headunit and plan on using the factory Bose speakers you have to connect the blue/white amplifier turn on wire so the new head unit knows to turn on the bose speakers. Each Bose speaker has it's own amplifier. I also did not need the Scosche Nissan Factory Integration Harness.

Pros: Nice looking, good power and sound

    Cons: Installation kit is terrible

The menu system could use a little tweaking, but I doubt any system would fit everyone perfectly. It's easy enough to navigate and learn. I use it for mainly iPod and USB flash drive playback. Both work fine and are easy to navigate. I REALLY like the fact I can set the LED/background colors to match my car's dashboard lights. The menus can have different colors than the normal playback mode colors. Nice little touch. I use it to drive 4 Pioneer speakers and it sounds fine at the volumes I use. I rock out a bit, but am no teenager. I don't listen to more than 5 or 6 radio stations, so no comment on its radio menu usability or lack thereof (as others seem to mention)

Pros: price custom colors ipod/USB playback

This replaced the factory stereo in a '04 Audi A6 in order to get iPod input and HD radio. The installation was pretty straightforward, and the Audi dashboard 'fit kit' looks great. The sound quality is very good for all inputs: iPod, CD, HD radio and FM. Note it is driving the factory amp and speaker system. The user interface is very weak. Presets 7 through 18 are very difficult to set and recall. The most frequently used buttons are the smallest: seek, preset up/down, EQ adjust and display (title/song/station/clock). The main display for station and song information is not bright enough in daytime, even at the brightest setting, and the lighting around volume/source selection is too bright at night, even on the lowest setting. In hindsight, I would have chosen another unit had I looked more closely at the usability. Note also that, like almost all after market head units, switching to night time illumination levels requires an analog 12V input wire, which this generation Audi lacks. The factory radio received digital control signals from the car's computer system to dim the lights. I wish Crutchfield had mentioned this during the sale.

Pros: Audio quality, pretty simple installation

Cons: Usabiilty is very poor. Crutchfield has other options that appear to be much better. Do your research, and read the user manual before buying.

All the functions of this radio work great! Sound quality is improved over the stock head unit in my 2012 Nissan Altima, the HD Radio is very nice to have, and the USB capability is fantastic. I have read reviews where people complained about slow access times for loading USB thumb drives, but I think this unit is actually quite speedy. The menu functions take some getting used to, but I don't know how you could really make it any easier given the amount of functions you can play with. Overall, I'm very pleased with the unit (especially considering it was quite a bit less expensive than just an iPOD adapter for the stock Nissan radio).

Pros: Tons of functions including HD Radio, iPOD control, USB and AUX inputs, variable lighting, and detachable faceplate. I was even able to use the rear AUX and Telephone Muting features to interface this unit to my factory Bluetooth.

Cons: Small buttons for controls make it hard to access functions while driving, and the display is really dim and hard to read in daylight. I find I have to use the brightest white display to even stand a chance of seeing it in daylight, which means I can only match colors to the car for the night settings.

Nice that unit changes colors as it is placed in a Corvette and did not want it to stand out. Much better than Bose (Delco) head unit. Compared to Kenwood and Sony better unit for the money and HD radio.

I installed this into a BMW 5er with the factory speakers, and it sounds GREAT when playing with an Android device connected via USB. It also does equally well with an iPod-type device. I love having the remote control, and I use it more than the panel controls. The operation of the controls is pretty easy (much easier than the Kenwood in my other car) and it has the added benefit of a changeable display color. This makes it match the factory red/orange of the BMW VERY well. If you have a BMW, you know that this color is hard to match if you don't want the interior of your car to look "aftermarket". I don't and the only complain that I have is that it has swoopy illuminated lines near the knob and Germans did NOT believe in swoopy lines. A little out of place, but I can live with it. The only negative to the radio is that in HD mode there is noticeable compression in the digital signal. This may be a function of my distance to the station (20 miles), but my other car's Kenwood does not deal with this problem and it also has HD tuning. Overall a great bargain on a great stereo.

Pros: Features, color adjustment, sound quality via USB

    Cons: HD sound compression

This unit replaced an old Pioneer navigation unit our 05 camry (with JBL audio) had before. The Pioneer was hooked up to the car's JBL amp, but had a horrible alternator wine issue (no amount of changing the grounding location helped). We upgraded to this JVC unit due to the 4.8v pre-amp outs. We talked to the rep before buying to make sure the unit works with the JBL amp. Not only is the alternator wine gone, we actually like all the new features like HD radio and iPod integration. Haven't tried with the unit's own speaker outs, so cant vouch for that. However, the installation process itself was a breeze (took about 30 minutes).

Pros: - 4.8v pre-amp outs which are less prone to noise - has sub outs - HD radio, iPod integration (with Pandora support) - Cost

Cons: - The prev/next track and up/down buttons are TINY.. wife says its Ok for her, but I cant deal with them. - Getting to the 6+ radio presets is a pain

This stereo performs perfectly and was right in my budget. The sound quality along with radiuo reception is far superior over teh factory head unit. I have 3 other vehicles I will consider replacing them with a JVC.

Pros: HD Radio, Aux Port and USB Port, and very adjustable EQ. Not just 3 channels. Kind of curious if an out board EQ/Crossover is even needed.

Cons: For only 10 bucks more you can get bluetooth, Or for this you have to buy a $50 part in order to get bluetooth. Track and search buttons just too damned small. I dont think the menu button needs to be that big and easily pressed when not looking. Power/Source button right next to track/search button combined with size makes for a few oops.

Sound is clear and fairly loud can do muiti EQ adjustments . Displays song, album, time . Can be operated with smart phone app .

Cons: Up and down track buttons small . Remote too small few features not really needed . XM radio part needs to be purchased seperately and is nearly the price of the stereo ! Performs and sounds better than the Dual unit it replaced. I'm still in the learning phase of how the user interface is designed. Innitially, it doesn't seem as user friendly as the previous Dual unit. As an example, both the old and new units has 18 FM pre-sets available. The Dual unit allowed selecting FM-1, FM-2, and FM-3 selections allowing push button access to the 18 pre-selects. So far, I can only program the JVC buttons with 6 pre-sets and the remaining 12 are only accessible by rotating the volume knob after holding it down for 3 seconds to access the second function. ANY electronics designed for a vehicle should be designed to minimize the need to look at it while adjusting, so far this unit requires more "watching" during adjustments than did the Dual unit. Other than this, it seems to be a very high value for the money.

    Pros: Excellent performance, high flexibility.

Cons: Requires too much "eyes off the road" to access second and third level pre-sets.

I wanted to maintain steering wheel controls so I got an interface unit from the UK just for the Mini. I was able to make all the connections before even starting the process. Removed old stereo, plugged in the new connections, and installed this unit. Total time 1 hour 10 minutes. Fired up the first time. Sound quality is great even though I still have OEM speakers. HD Radio

Built-in HD Radio: With the built-in HD Radio tuner, you can receive digital AM/FM broadcasts from local stations where available. HD Radio technology significantly improves audio quality and reception, as well as includes information such as artist name and song titles or traffic news, viewable on the receiver's display. HD Radio Technology will deliver high-quality digital sound. AM digital will have FM-like quality in stereo, while FM digital will have CD-like quality sound with static free and clear reception.

Note: HD Radio is the system for digital AM and FM broadcasting in the U.S. More than 2,000 radio stations are broadcasting their primary signals in digital HD Radio technology, as a free service. Go to HDRadio.com to check for HD Radio stations in your area.

Multicasting: In addition to conventional broadcasts, with HD Radio broadcasting, it is possible to choose from up to 8 multicast programs (HD1 to HD8 and analog). There are also data programs for each program.

Text Display: AM/FM digital stations can offer text and data such as artist names and song titles. The built-in HD Radio tuner displays song title, artist and station information on the display of the JVC Arsenal KD-AHD65.

iTunes Tagging: It is possible to save the song's information (tag) from a HD Radio broadcasting station to your USB-direct connected iPod/iPhone. The songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your iPod/iPhone. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music Store. You can "tag" up to 50 songs.

Note: Your iPod/iPhone must have at least 50MB of free space to "tag" and transfer songs. iTunes 7.4 or later is required to purchase "tagged" songs.

Analog Broadcasts: In addition to HD AM/FM stations, the KD-AHD65 can also receive conventional analog AM/FM broadcasts.

Digital/Analog Tuning: You can setup the KD-AHD65 to search both analog and digital radio stations, only HD Radio stations, or analog radio stations only.

Digital/Analog Presets: You can set up to 18 FM and 6 AM digital/analog presets stations as presets (HD Radio multicast channels can also be preset). Presets can be set manually or automatically, using Strong-station Sequential Memory (SSM).

Radio Timer: You can tune into a preset station at a specific time regardless of the head unit's current source. You can activate the Radio Timer once, daily, or turn it completely off.

Mono Mode: If an analog FM stereo broadcast is hard to receive, you can manually switch the tuner to Mono operation.

IF Filter: You can also switch the analog tuner's IF filter to Wide or Auto to increase/decrease the sensitivity.

US/European Tuning: You can set the built-in AM/FM tuner between US standard and European tuning spacing.

    Disc Playback

Disc Compatibility: The unit features a single disc player that will playback CD-Audio, CD-Text, and finalized CD-R/CD-RW audio discs.

MP3/WMA Playback: The KD-AHD65 can play MP3 (8-320 kbps)/WMA files (32-192 kbps) that have been recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs. The disc must be recorded in one of the following formats: ISO 9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, Romeo or Windows long file. Each disc can have a maximum of 8 folder hierarchies, 255 folders, and no more than a total of 512 files and/or folders on each disc. The unit also supports IDTag3 (version 1.0, 1.1, 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4) for album and artist information from MP3 or WMA files.

Track/Folder List: The Track/Folder List displays a list of MP3/WMA folders and tracks on a loaded CD, so you can easily access your music. The Track/Folder List will also display the list of track titles on a CD Text disc.

Random/Repeat Modes: The JVC KD-AHD65 offers the following Repeat and Random playback modes for your audio CDs.

    • Repeat: Track Repeat (plays the current track repeatedly), Folder Repeat (plays all tracks of the current folder repeatedly), Off (cancels repeat function)
    • Random: Folder Random (plays all tracks of the current folder, then the tracks of the next folder in random), All Random (plays all tracks of the current disc at random), Off (cancels random function)

Disc Resume: If you change the source, playback also stops (without ejecting the disc). Next time you select CD for the playback source, the disc will start from where it has been stopped previously.

Off Insert/Eject: A CD disc can be inserted or ejected with the power off. When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will automatically power up and begin playback.

Disc Protection: If the ejected disc is not removed within 15 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to protect it from dust. The source will change to CD, and the disc will begin playback, even if you have another source selected at the time.

Mounting: For proper disc playback you must install the unit within 30-degrees of horizontal.

    USB/iPod/Aux Connectivity

USB Port: The JVC Arsenal KD-AHD65 features a front panel USB 2.0 (type-A) port behind a sliding cover for connection of a USB mass-storage class device (such as a USB thumbdrive or digital audio player). Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC Arsenal KD-AHD65 utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The KD-AHD65 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the KD-AHD65 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the KD-AHD65 are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 20 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KD-AHD65 with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

Pro EQ: The KD-AHD65 is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Flat, Natural, Dynamic, Vocal Boost, Bass Boost, User) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User mode allows you to manually adjust the head unit's 3-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

    Pro EQ
    Frequency Level Q
    Bass 60, 80, 100, 200 Hz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.75, 1.0, 1.25
    Treble 10.0, 12.5, 15.0, 17.5 khz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) Fixed

Source Link EQ: This feature allows you to store Pro EQ bass, middle and treble tone settings for each source (CD, HD Radio, Aux, USB, iPod, and Pandora).

Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can turn this feature on or off.

4.8V/6CH Preamp Output: The KD-AHD65 is equipped with three pair of 4.8V preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front & rear preamp outputs offer balance/fade control and are designed to hookup to a full-range 4-channel amplifier. The subwoofer preamp output is non-fading and designed to hookup to a mono-block subwoofer amplifier.

High-Pass Crossover: The KD-AHD65 features a High-Pass Crossover for the front & rear speaker-outputs or preamp-outputs. You can adjust the high-pass crossover from 100 Hz, 120 Hz, 150 Hz, or Off. The 'Off' selection is a full-range setting.

Subwoofer Controls: The JVC Arsenal KD-AHD65 offers the following subwoofer controls, when you have the unit's subwoofer preamp output activated.

    • Low Pass Crossover: The receiver features a built-in Low Pass Crossover for subwoofer preamp output. You can select from 55 Hz, 85 Hz, 120 Hz, or off.
    • Subwoofer Level: Once the Subwoofer preamp output is activated, you can independently control the subwoofer preamp output level (0-8) from the CD receiver.

Key-Touch Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    Display Features

Detachable Face: The JVC Arsenal KD-AHD65 CD receiver features a detachable face to deter theft. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Note: No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

Variable Color LCD & Key Illumination: The JVC Arsenal KD-AHD65 features 29 color presets for the LCD and button illumination. You can choose one of these color presets or select the ColorFlow mode which scrolls through all 29 color presets. Additionally, there is a User preset, allowing you to individually adjust the intensity of Red, Green, and Blue from 0 to 31; resulting in approximately 30,000 custom color options. The chosen color preset or custom color can be applied to the display panel and the backlighting for all the buttons except the eject button (it remains red). You can choose to use the same color for the LCD display and button illumination, or use a separate color for each one. You can also select a different color for daytime and nighttime in regards to the unit's LCD and button illumination.

Brightness: The unit offers an adjustable display and button illumination brightness level (0-31) for day and nighttime driving.

Display/Button Illumination Dimmer: The display/button illumination dimmer can be set to Off (normal brightness at all times), On (display/button illumination is always dimmed), or Auto (display dims when 12-volts is applied to the orange/white illumination lead).

    Bluetooth/Remote Control

Optional Bluetooth: The unit's rear-panel auxiliary input can also be used to connect JVC's KS-BTA100 Bluetooth Adapter (105KSBTA10, sold separately). The KS-BTA100 must be plugged into the rear-panel auxiliary input, and not the front-panel auxiliary input. The front-panel auxiliary input does not support Bluetooth. The KS-BTA100 gives you hands-free communication from your compatible Bluetooth mobile phone and wireless streaming audio from a Bluetooth enabled digital audio player. The optional JVC Bluetooth Adapter includes a super-sensitive microphone, an Answer/End button, and playback controls. The KD-AHD65 can be set to automatically mute any music audio to your vehicle's speakers so you can listen to your telephone call using your car speakers.

Note: Not all Bluetooth devices will be compatible. Visit the JVC Mobile Entertainment Bluetooth Support Page for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled devices.

Wireless Remote Control: The KD-AHD65 comes supplied with a wireless remote control (RM-RK52). The remote contains Attenuator, Sound, Source, Tracking, and Volume functions. The remote operates off of a single CR2025 3V Lithium-cell battery (included).

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit also features an OEM steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with the optional PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (541SWIRC, sold separately); or the optional Metra ASWC Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (120ASWC, sold separately).
