Features
MOS-FET Amplifier: The JVC KD-G340 features a MOS-FET amplifier that is CEA-2006 compliant and rated at 20 watts RMS x 4 channels in 4-ohm and 1% THD+N with a signal to noise ratio of 80 dBA.
MP3/WMA Playback: The KD-G340 can play MP3/WMA files that have been recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs. The disc must be recorded in one of the following formats: ISO 9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, Romeo or Windows long file. You can directly access folders numbered 01-12 (they must be assigned two-digit numbers when recorded). Each disc can have a maximum of 8 folder hierarchies, 200 folders, and no more than a total of 512 files and/or folders on each disc. The unit also supports IDTag3 (version 1.0, 1.1, 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4) for album and artist information from MP3 or WMA files.
Direct Track Access: You can directly access CD tracks 1-12 by pressing the station preset buttons. If a preset button is pressed for less than 1 second, the track corresponding to the number on the preset button is selected (for tracks 1-6). When a preset button is pressed for more than 1 second, the track corresponding to the number above the preset button is accessed (for tracks 7-12).
Detachable Face: The unit features a detachable face to deter theft. The CD player does not come supplied with a face case.
Preferred Setting Mode: By activating the Preferred Setting Mode (PSM), you can set the clock, choose the time zone and daylight saving time, select the dimmer mode, select the external component type (changer or line input), turn on/off ID3 Tag display, switch between US standard and European tuning spacing, set the Amplifier Gain control (high/low), and several other operational settings.
Intelligent Equalizer (i-EQ): The KD-G340 has a 3-band parametric EQ with manually adjustable low (60 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz, or 120 Hz), midrange (500 Hz, 1 kHz, 1.5 kHz or 2.5 kHz), and high frequency (7.5 kHz, 10 kHz, 12.5 kHz, or 15 kHz) settings and bandwidth settings (0.5Q, 0.75Q, 1.0Q, 1.25Q, 1.5Q, or 2.0Q). The settings for each EQ band varies from -12 to +12 dB. In addition, this unit also has six selectable preset sound mode combinations. Each of the sound modes may be adjusted to your preference and stored in one of three user memories. The preset Intelligent EQ modes are:

Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can turn this feature on or off.
Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KD-G340 with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.
Preamp Output Mode: In the PSM menu, you can set the rear preamp outputs for connecting rear speakers (through an external amplifier) or for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When set for rear speakers, the rear outputs operate with the unit's fader control. When set for subwoofer, the outputs are non-fading, and you can set the cutoff frequency of the low pass filter at 90Hz, 135Hz, or 180Hz. The subwoofer level can be set between 0 and 8.
Front Panel Auxiliary Input: A front panel stereo minijack is provided to allow the connection of a portable audio source. Just connect your portable cassette, MD or MP3 player to this unit, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system. The input level of the auxiliary input can be adjusted from 0 to 5.
Compatibility with Optional Input Adapter: An optional JVC Line Input Adapter (item # 105KSU57) or Aux Input Adapter (item # 105KSU58) may be used to provide an additional auxiliary input on this unit. This feature allows you to connect a portable audio player, such as a portable MP3 player, to this unit as an additional audio source. The adapter connects to the CD changer input on this unit. When the adapter is connected to this unit, a CD changer cannot be connected.
Clock Display: While playing a CD, you can switch between the clock display and the CD elapsed time display (the track number always appears). While listening to the radio you can switch between the clock display and the station frequency display. When you press the Display button during power off, the unit will turn on, display the clock for 5 seconds, then shut off. This can be done with the ignition on or off. In the PSM menu, the clock can be set to display with the unit on or off, only turning off when the ignition is turned off ("keyed" operation).
Display/Button Illumination Dimmer: The display and button illumination dimmer can be set to Off (normal brightness at all times) or On (display and button illumination is always dimmed). Note that the amount of dimming is fixed; it cannot be adjusted.
Disc Protection: If the ejected disc is not removed within 15 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to protect it from dust. The source will change to CD, and the disc will begin playback, even if you have another source selected at the time.
Disc Résumé: If you change the source, playback also stops (without ejecting the disc). Next time you select CD for the playback source, the disc will start from where it has been stopped previously.
Wireless Remote Control: The KD-G340 comes supplied with a wireless remote control (RM-RK50). The remote contains Power, Attenuator, Sound, Source, Tracking and Volume functions.
External Device Controls
iPod Control: The optional KS-PD100 iPod adapter (sold separately) allows an iPod portable digital music player with a dock connector to be hooked up to and controlled by the KD-G340 and display the following: CD Text, MP3 folder/file names, or ID3 Tag information. All your iPod buttons will be disabled when connected to this adapter and the iPod will be controlled from the JVC receiver. With this optional interface, you'll be able to play your iPod music files through the JVC receiver and have all the titling information appear on the JVC's display. When this interface is connected to the JVC receiver, you cannot connect a CD changer. The adapter is made for audio file playback only, so it won't pass video signals from video capable iPods. Your iPod is also charged while it is connected to the KD-G340.
Note: The optional KS-PD100 is compatible with iPods that have a dock connector, including the following models: iPod with dock connector (software version 2.3), iPod with Click Wheel (software version 3.1), iPod mini (software version 1.4), iPod photo (5th generation - software version 1.2), iPod nano (1st, 2nd, 3rd generation) and iPod classic. The KS-PD100 is not compatible with the Apple touch or iPhone.
Bluetooth Operation: The KD-G340 features Bluetooth operation when the optional JVC Bluetooth Adapter (KS-BTA200, sold separately) is connected to the receiver's CD changer port on the rear chassis of the unit. By using this adapter, you can operate the following functions from your Bluetooth compatible cellular phone wirelessly with the KD-G340 headunit.
- Receiving a call: If you receive al call, "Receiving Call", name and phone number appears on the radio's display.
- Making a call: You can make a call by entering a phone number from the JVC receiver.
- Calling from phonebook: You can call a number from the phone-book in your connected cellular phone using this JVC headunit; before using this function, transfer the phone-book memory of your cellular phone to this unit.
- Calling by voice command: If your cellular phone is equipped with the voice recognition system, you can make a call by your voice using the supplied microphone that comes with the KS-BTA200.
- Calling from call histories: The KS-BTA200 adapter has three kinds of call histories - redial, missed calls, and received calls. You can make a call using these call histories through this JVC headunit.
- Call Waiting: If your cellular phone is equipped with the call waiting function, you can put the current call on hold and answer the waiting call.
- Calling by preset numbers: You can preset up to six phone numbers for one touch dialing from this JVC receiver.
- Receiving the SMS (Short Message Service)/Text Message: If your cellular phone can use SMS and Text Message, you can read the message on the display of the receiver.
Satellite Radio: This unit supports both XM and Sirius Satellite Radio when used with an optional satellite radio tuner and adapter, sold separately. This JVC headunit supports the SiriusConnect Universal Vehicle tuner and JVC KS-SRA100 Sirius Satellite Radio interface (item number 700SIRJVC1, sold separately). The headunit also supports the XMDirect2 Universal Vehicle tuner and CNPJVC1 XM Satellite Radio interface (item number 700XMJVC1, sold separately). You can also connect a Satellite Radio Plug-and-Play tuner to the unit's front-panel Auxiliary input.
HD Radio: The KD-G340 supports HD Radio when the optional JVC HD Radio tuner box (KT-HD300, sold separately) is connected to the receiver's CD changer port on the rear of the unit. HD Radio Technology can deliver high-quality digital sound. AM digital will have FM-like quality in stereo, while FM digital will have CD-like quality with static free and clear reception. In addition, AM/FM digital stations can offer text and data such as artist names and song titles. Many HD Radio stations also offer more than one channel of programming. This service is called multicasting. To find HD Radio stations in your area, visit www.hdradio.com. When this optional HD Radio tuner box is connected to the KD-G340, you will still be able to receive conventional analog AM/FM broadcasts.
Changer Controls: This unit is equipped with JVC's "J-Link" CD changer control system. It is fully compatible with JVC's CD/MP3 changer (257CHX1500). Other JVC CH-X series CD changers (except CH-X99 and CH-X100) can be controlled directly by this head unit, however, they are not compatible with MP3 discs. You cannot use the KD-MK series CD changers with this unit, even with an adapter.
