    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the most powerful unit I have ever installed in my car. Bass and fine
tuning controls are better than the three previous radios. Just take time to
read over all the optional settings. I guess the hd is ok, really not sure
what to expect when I did put it in. Seems somewhat clearer compared to
other stations. I was going to buy another one but it is now discontinuted

    Overall Great

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Unit is overall great, HD in general is not all it's cracked up to be, I think anyone could do with out considering sound quality but HD is great for not hearing all the morning talk stuff.
The unit's only drawback when used with JVC KSPD100 IPOD adapter is that when you listen to a song from an album you cannot access the menu from where you are, you have to start from the beginning which can divert your attention from the road longer than you typically would like.

    Weak Ipod Connection

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good stereo for the money -- especially with the HD rebate. But the HD is ultimately underwhelming. The much-hyped CD-quality sound is basically the exact same as an FM signal -- maybe slightly better.

The Ipod interface here is straightup bad. First, there's no built in input. So I added the Ipod control module, and it magically turns the Ipod into a just another cheap MP3 player. The controls are slow and the navigation isnt intuitive. And there are not enough characters on the display to understand
what you're looking at. I'm sending back the Ipod adapter and buying a standard input cable, which will let me control the Ipod with the Ipod -- not the JVC deck.

No Better HD Unit for the Money!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

    Hello all,

I bought this receiver a little over a month ago and I am so glad I did. For the price, all of the features this unit packs are awesome! HD radio (which
rocks), CD, MP3, WMA, optional input, RCA's, etc, etc, etc....

Some people have complained about the remote functions, I don't know what they are complaining about. The remote works fine and is small; of
course it won't do everything the face controls do!!! The sound is nice and clear, the SRS is great, and the attenuator button is great (both on the remote and face). The unit does not heat up like many other brands and this is a good thing as less heat means longer life. The display is not distracting with a bunch of super-bright colors and flashing lights. It
displays the important stuff and that's about it.

This price for a product which packs all of these features is amazing. I was even able to get a rebate from HD Radio, so it makes the deal even
better. After shipping, this radio is a steal considering all of the features that JVC packs in. You even get a face plate case!!! Who sends
    those with their radios anymore?

If you are looking for a well built, inexpensive, feature packed HD radio, then I would highly recommend this unit; you won't be disappointed!!!

    Very nice sound

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This stereo is very easy to install with the Crutchfield harness. The wiring harness is totally worth the money. Using the harness, it took me about an hour to install the stereo and 4 new speakers. Make sure you have either a soldering gun and solder or the screw-on connectors to connect your Crutchfield harness to the JVC harness.

The sound of this stereo vs my stock system is just amazing. I have a '99 Mazda 626 with 4 speakers, and it used to sound like all of the music came from the rear. With the surround sound turned on, the music sounds a lot fuller and comes more from the front. I also got the JVC iPod controller, which works great. The only drawback is that you can't listen to podcasts, just playlists, unless you put your podcast into a playlist (but then you have to start from the beginning each time). The HD radio sounds good, but the FM quality is about as good as a CD anyway.

Some of the buttons are very small, and I find myself staring at the radio rather than watching the road, especially when fooling with the iPod.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this radio.

    Fantastic receiver/player for the money!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit in my 1969 Camaro Convertible (the dash was already
cut). I really didn't know what to expect when I ordered this unit, as I've
found in car stereo you often get what you pay for.

After installing it and firing it up, I was absolutely amazed! The Surround
Sound option wakes everything up, and the equalizer allows you to tailor fit
your music to your liking. With the HD and other options (including 6 RC
plugins, with one being a dedicated subwoofer out), this deck performs as
well as others 3 or 4 times the cost!

Having the ability to control the JVC CD Changers' 12 disc capacity is the
icing on the cake! If you are considering buying a CD Sereo head unit, you
won't be at all disappointed in your purchase.

Full featured CD Receiver at great price!

Written By Anonymous, Houston, TX on Saturday, September 20, 2008

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This CD receiver offers some great features at a very low starting price. I decided to upgrade my Jeep Cherokee's system and did some research on this price range. No manufacture offers what this receiver does. It includes HD radio and iPod connectivity at this price range. The addition of the JVC KSPD100 adapter for the ipod, is an unbeatable total price for the CD deck, HD radio, and iPod integration. It also features a MOSFET amplifier, 3 additional sets of preamp outputs (2 are for bass freq.), and the SRS circle surround that adds a new dimension of sound to your vehicle.

Receiver, HD Radio, and iPod connection.
SRS Circle Surround, that makes a big difference on the sound.
    Gain Control for factory speakers.
    All the outputs future upgrades.

Small Controls on the face of the unit
The Volume knob is very slippery makes it difficult to adjust volume quickly.
Interface not too user friendly. Must read the manual to set clock, for instance, and do other simple functions that are sometimes natural on other receivers.
Remote Control basically useless, specially that it does not changes from HD1 to HD2 on HD Radio and rather changes band from FM1 to FM2 and so on.

Overall, this is a great unit for this price range, specially if adding the iPod adapter. The addition of the extra outputs makes this a sweet deal since you can upgrade your vehicle's sound in the future with less effort.

The best radio at this price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed an inexpensive radio for my older Jeep, one that was inexpensive enough to not worry about getting stolen. Can't beat it for that price.

    The good----(IMHO)
HD Radio - EXCELLENT for riding the mountain trails in the jeep. Can't get regular FM worth a hoot where I go, but as soon as the HD tuner locks in,
sounds just like I dropped in a CD, no multipath distortion, only once did I have a complete HD signal drop out---and there was no radio station to be
had at all at that point.
MP3 - It can randomize in a single folder of MP3's(eg, rock, country, 70s, etc), or randomize a whole disc. And it DID NOT skip on even the hairy-est
    of rock crawl-4x4 low-1st gear-pedal to the floor-trails.

    Not so good----
The EQ makes no effect on the subwoofer output. If you crank up the 60Hz control, it only makes an adjustment to the dash/rear speakers, the sub isn't EQ'd. (if someone CAN, let me know!)
Remote is extremely small. Very non-ergonomic friendly being so small. The thing is only slightly larger than my thumb!

I gave it 5 stars, though, because there's no way you'll find a better deal.

    Not bad but...

Written By Majic, Tucson, AZ on Friday, September 12, 2008

I've had this radio for about a year now and think it's ok overall, BUT like the other review stated it is very annoying to have it switch back and forth from 'normal' FM reception to HD. There is no doubt a sound difference between the both, with HD sounding better hands down. It just seems like no matter wherever I'm driving, in Tucson or nearby Phoenix, the receiver constantly switches back and forth from one mode to the other. When it switches you will ALWAYS hear a delay and/or a repeat of words in the song that is playing. I read reviews prior to purchase stating that this happened to some buyers, but it seemed to be attributed to living in less populated areas. Not so...just my two cents.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

AM radio sounds like FM. FM sounds like CD, even with mulitple HD channels on the same freq. HD stereo separation is 50dB above analog FM stereo and you can hear it. I had a concern about HD because many complained of repeating audio when their unit switched back and forth between analog and digital. They blamed it on HD radio overall. Mine rarely drops digital but when it does or if I force it, the audio always stays in sync between the two modes. Worst I ever hear is a small phase shift. Must be issues with older processors and buffering on their radios--not with this unit and not the radio stations (at least in the DC area). Final price includes install kit and instructions. Took 40 minutes to install, most of which was soldering harness wires. Can't go wrong with that!

this radio isnt what i was looking for. ive had pioneers for as longas i can remember but my old unit wouldnt fit in this car. hd is funky seems to skip and echo alot. couild be im not in full range of the stations. dont know. audio seems low for a unit with "200" watts. trying to figure out how to adjust the equalizer is an all day adventure that i still havent got nailed down yet. when everything is all said and done if i had to buy another radio this would not be my choice. i think ill just try to get a pioneer that will work in its place.

    Ok for the price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit primarily due to the recent hype i've read over HD, and hoping to get better reception with local HD stations. I was surprised that the FM reception on this unit was far less than the OEM or Blaupunkt (?) unit I replaced. Couldn't pick up several local stations at all, and it switched back and forth from HD to analog on other stations which made it sound like a skipping CD. Ended up replacing my antenna just to get back to where I was with reception. Sound quality has been good and CD/MP3 operation good so far.

    Love it so far!

I just got this radio installed and I absolutely love it. My factory had died and then I purchased this knock off brand just to hold me until I could afford a nice one. Man that raido sucked! so I was so pleased when I ran accross this one on sale! It is definately worth the money! When the guy installed my radio he was like "Where did you get this radio b/c the adapter for the HD feature came with it! it never comes with the radio!" So that made me feel even better! lol.... Anyhoo, the only thing I can say is it wouldnt hurt to have a bigger remote with more options of control. But other than that I have not complaints. the sound is great!!! Thanks Crutchfield for the great deal!

    Fair rating at best

Written By SRCPT, Akron OH on Saturday, September 06, 2008

I've had this unit for about a year now. I find that I rarely listen to HD radio because even in the city, the radio keeps shifting between HD and analog. This is very annoying. If I lock it onto HD then the sound cuts out frequently. The HD sound is great, but the signal varies with distance from the station and among tall buildings. An undocumented feature is the radio picks up the one HD station on AM here. I find that the AM tuner is very weak and won't pick up weak signals as well as the radios in my other cars. Another annoyance is there is no way to keep the time displayed if the radio is off. You can only display the time for a few seconds by pushing the display button. I just reinstalled the factory tape deck in my Honda Insight and find it has much more volume than this unit. I have never used the remote.

Pros: Price, Design, HD / MP3 unit Cons: I dont like how you have to adjust bass/ treb and even after you do adjust seems like bass is still going to speakers i dont want it to. HD fades in and out and gets annoying, this might be an issue with all hd decks.

Overall: worth the price but dont expect a top of the line radio.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to integrate my iPhone into my 99 BMW M Roadster's sound system and the KD-HDW10 turned out to be a very good find. Given that iPod connectors don't work well with the iPhone 3G AND I couldn't listen to Internet Radio using the iPod connector, my priority was to get a head unit that had a rear line input and HD Radio...and the JVC had all this and it looks great in my car (black/chrome). Install time was less than an hour. Display and operation are simple and easy...and it sounds great. In the end, I got all I wanted for a great price...how can you go wrong! Thanks Crutchfield for great service!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Please note: This receiver DOES have bass and treble controls. Its an actual 7 band EQ, but you adjust each band separately. PLEASE READ THE MANUAL.

This is a great unit. I was able to take advantage of Crutchfield's free install gear special they had. This made the deal even sweeter! THEN. Units that have built in HD radio qualify for an additional mail in rebate to boot! You do the math!

Had an issue with the install kit, it came broken, called Crutchfield, and they refunded me the price for a new one at my local stereo shop! AMAZING CUSTOMER service.

    Now to the unit itself...

    - Nice looking
    - Sturdy Face Plate
    - functional remote
    - SRS function sounds awesome in my car, if not in yours it can be disabled.
    - Clean sounding and effective anti-shock (something you would expect from JVC)
    - Tag information is displayed nicely, scroll speed is perfect.
    - Many useful features
    - MP3/WMA

    - I found the face plate a bit tricky to remove/install.
    - HD radio signal is spotty at best, however this MAY not be an issue with the unit itself
    - Like the other reviewer experienced, there are MANY features to this unit. You MUST read the owners manual to learn how to access them.

JVC has a winner with the KD-HW10.

I installed this in my Paseo. It feeds into a Profile AP740 amp that powers
Polk Momo MMC5250 speakers up front and MMC690 speakers in back.
Overall I like it. However, the controls are hard to understand, especially
when driving. If they would just replace some of the station preset
numbers (who actually uses these anyways??) with more option buttons, it
would make it much easier to use. Good player for the price.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am amazed at the quality of head units on the market today for low prices. This one is right at the top. A couple months ago I purchesed a more expensice JVC for the wifes car, and this one is as good or better!

The HD is great. This is my first encounter with it, and I am suprised at the difference in sound quality.

The EQ is basic but does a good job at adjusting sound to my prefence.

3 sets of RCA outputs on a head unit for this price? Unheard off just a year or 2 ago! But this one has them. Not to mention CD changer control, Ipod connection and so on.

I am running all my speakers on amps through the RCAs so I can really comment internal amps performance, but I am sure it would satisfy the needs of people who do not desire an external amp.

The controls are easy to use. The screen looks a little basic, but does the job. The remote is nice at doing some of the basic controls and thats really all you need one for anyway.

I doubt you will find a better head unit for the money, and it is probably as good or better than some higher priced units as well.

I would have gave this 5 stars, but I didn't like the fact that it does not have bass and trebble controls on it. Newer cars, it probably would not matter, but in a older pickup with some original 4 inch speakers, I would like to make sure that there is not much bass but also have some trebble so you can hear it loud without busting the speakers.

Other than that, I love the radio, and the HD Radio.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I couldn't be more pleased with this HD radio. It's my first foray into HD radio and I LOVE it. The sound is SO clear and I get more stations. Plus, FM sounds CD-quality and AM sounds really great, too. In fact, I have several stations I couldn't receive well with my factory radio and this one picks them up with great quality. I also love how you can see the display of artist and song as it plays--though I wish it were smaller so it wouldn't have to scroll. Kinda hard to read a full artist and song title while you're driving if it's slowly scrolling.

This was the first radio I ever installed. I've installed stuff in my PC, but never my car--it was WAY easier than I thought it would be thanks to Crutchfield's great directions. It went almost without a hitch, but when I did have a question, I called and the rep helped me right through it happily. Great customer service. If you're deciding between this radio or something like a Dual, this is the one to buy. The sound is terrific and the quality is top-notch.

I picked up one of these just because it was so cheap and I could use a new head unit in my 98 RAV4 that had an 8 year old Pioneer CD player (from Crutchfield of course) that I installed also. This can play mp3 CDs and has the built in HD tuner, so I thought this would be a very nice upgrade. I really like this unit. The options with how the HD tuner behaves is great, also the display is decent. I like the dedicated volume knob. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is for not having any aux input anywhere. Otherwise you can't go wrong for this price!

I had it replaced thinking it was just a bad one and once again after a few months, it makes a clicking noise when I switch to CD, when the CD is playing the music skips when theren is not any scratches. the sound does weird things like goes from side to side on the speakers and my radio once didn't work at all when I went from CD to radio. I am really disappointed in this product and am now looking for a new one.

I have no complain on the features and quality of sound but the unit easy scratch discs like other front insert units. If you have valuable discs would like to listen in car, make a copy and keep the original disc scratch free. Scratches can cause sound degradation and skip.

Crutchfield install instructions and harness made this the easiest car stereo installation I've ever done. The total time was probably thirty minutes, most of which was attaching the adapter wire harness together, which I did on the sofa in the living room while watching TV and eating dinner!

Great deal, great radio, love the HD. It was easy to install, and there is
absolutely no noise, very clear even when cranked up. It was realatively
easy to use, the only problem was trying to figure out how to get to the EQ
functions, I just had to read the manual to figure those out. All in all a
    GREAT radio for the price.

I ordered it Aug 4th and received it THE VERY NEXT DAY! Less than 24hrs
from ordering it on the computer to having it installed in my truck! Great

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My last stereo got stolen so i wanted to replace it with another nice one, yet didnt want to buy something really expensive, in case it were to happen again. I came across this stereo, already liked JVC, and the built-in HD radio really did it for me. I love the stereo, the radio signal is clear and crisp, i would've liked an aux jack on the front instead of having to buy a JVC adapter, but that was a small price to pay to have the HD radio included without an external receiver. I would definitely recommend this stereo.

    Now I'm Jealous!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this JVC as a bargain radio to put in a 93 Sentra that we bought as an around town beater. Not the best looking but it runs great. Well now it has the best sound of and most advanced radio of all the cars in the family. Installation looks factory and the sound is fantastic. Best yet I installed the iPod adapter. Now I can listen to my tunes on the way to the store, the gym, etc. HD radio is also crystal clear with a huge number of stations here. I can't believe I got all this for this price & on a Saturday. Unbelieveable, I pass by my Acura to drive this beat-up Sentra just for the radio. Crazy Sound!!!

Great sounding unit with many features!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put this in a "93 Thunderbird with JBL premium sound system fully utilized,
very clear and clean sound, with tons of power. Noticed an increase in
clarity over factory receiver. We have 41 HD stations in Tampa area, I don't
receive them all but the ones I'm getting strong signals on are the same
stations I have been listening to for years. ONLY now they are in HD and
sound just like a CD! If you like to tweek your frequency settings, every
thing is adjustible on this unit, even the preset Eq Curves. There are 7
levels of the freq spectrum you can adjust. The circle surround gives
fullness and presence to the source. This unit has more features than
many other HD/CD receivers, costing hundreds more that I looked at! This
is a nice looking unit and fits perfectly in my dash. The remote control is
    handy, for most used functions!
This is ONE nice unit and ONE SWEET price!
I had a few issues with the wiring harness, purchased locally, as
Crutchfield was out of stock. Crutchfield Tech Support was most helpfull in
    getting things to work.
    Thanks Crutchfield Folks!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall I would give this 5 stars. Great sound, Great looks, Easy to use. My reason for 4 stars only is the remote. I have not found a way to switch between HD stations with it. Several stations in my area have multiple HD stations... the only way I have found to switch to them is with the head unit itself. Other than that... I love it!!

This receiver has everything you need or will ever need if you decide to upgrade in the future. 3 PREAMP OUTPUTS, HD RADIO, 7 BAND EQUALIZER,
SURROUND SOUND FEATURE, AND POWERFUL BUILT IN AMPLIFIER!!!! Unit like this should at least cost $170 and you get it for this!!! Preamp out puts
will let you connect up to 3 amplifiers with highest quality sound. No more splitting one pre amp output with Y-adapters and losing your fader and sound quality.HD radio is just amazing, I did not expect so many stations to be already in HD!! Pretty much every station you listen to has an HD broadcast with crystal clear sound. 7 band equalizer allows you to ajust the frequences from 60 Hz to 15 kHz! I have sensitive ears and by turning down treble on my old sony would make the overall sound be dull. On this
unit I just turned down 15 kHz frequency and the sound is still amazing withought those high pitched sounds that cut your ears. Surround sound feature is awesome too, it feels as if all 4 speaker are pointed at your ears a couple inches away! For those that just replacing their stereo, this has a
great amp built in that will turn your factory speakers into bassy and loud monsters.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this head unit for the 3 pre-amp outputs, specifically the subwoofer pre-amp output. For the price, it was a no-brainer. I would recommend this product just for that and you get built-in HD Radio and mp3/wma support as an added incentive. Until the prices come down on bluetooth and usb head units, I won't be upgrading anytime soon, nor will I ever need to talk on the phone while driving.

The only gripe I have is with the proprietary aux inputs, but since I don't care to install a cd changer or a mp3 player, I'll stick to loaded mp3 discs, the radio, and oh, those albums artists put out on CDs.

As for the controls, it can get a little frustrating to optimize sound and various settings because the use of function keys (like on laptops). It will take some time to get used to it, but I got the hang of it after I read the some of the manual. Besides, the automatic settings sound just as good.

    Great value

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just put this in my 1994 Accord Coupe and it transformed my car stereo
from mediocre to stunning! The sound had been tired and boring but now
is impressive enough that I spent a couple hours just listening to songs on
the radio in HD. This truly is a revolution in sound as the HD is static free
and the surround options on this unit keep you enveloped like a movie
theater! Even stations not in digital come in very well. JVC really created a
good value for the money in this unit and it installed easily with
Crutchfield's help. HD does rock, as much a step forward as going from
    mono to stereo sound!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed this in my '07 Ranger with optional iPod adapter. All I can say is, WOW! Ford has always had good speakers and with this unit, I can turn it all the way up to 50 with minimal distortion. Simply put...it rocks. Installation was super easy and looks great. The iPod adapter doesn't allow for radio control of my iPhone, but I can control the music from the phone in the Pro-Fit adapter I also installed and it charges the phone while listening. Sound quality at all volume levels is exceptional. Haven't tried much of the HD feature, but from what I did try, it's on the same high level as the other functions of the unit. Although I don't live in or frequent high crime areas, I'm very happy to have the removeable face for security. I'd HIGHLY reccommend this unit to anyone. Great job JVC! I've also got to give respect once again to Crutchfield. Don't think there's a better electronics retailer out there.

I recently installed this deck and am fairly impressed for the price. It's cons
are you need a 40 dollar adapted to use a mp3 player and the controls are
not as user friendly as some other decks. The pros are it's a great price,
great outputs for subs and other amps and looks and perfroms flawlessly, I
    would defintly reccomend.

    Nice for the price

This is a great unit. The HD radio is tremendous, and even when there is no HD avaliable, the tuner is much better for AM than any deck I've heard. The ipod interface is superb, and at least as good as the more expensive Alpine. The surround features are first rate. Buy it, you'll like it. What a bargain !!!!

I do have to say that I'm quite impressed with this head unit. I was a bit
skeptical of JVC at first. But, even with stock speakers installed, the sound
is excellent, especially with the HD radio. Although I'm still learning the
controls, they aren't as bad as I've seen on some others. Oh, and it's looks
    are also great!

Great product for the price. Before i had this stereo i was using a $350 Alpine Head unit. That got stolen, so i replaced it with this. I mean, for the money, this is very very good. I have Rockford Fosgate Punch front and back speakers, as well as Fosgate subs, and with this head unit i can change settings easily and control the bass on the subs in a snap. Very user friendly and looks great. Dont let the "JVC" logo throw you off, this product is excellent for the price.

    MOS-FET Amplifier: The JVC CD player features a CEA-2006 compliant MOS-FET 20 Watts RMX x 4-channel amplifier in 4ohms at 1% THD+N with an 80 dBA signal-to-noise-ratio.

DiAS Tuner: This model is equipped with JVC's Digital Intelligent Advanced Sensing tuner, offering unprecedented analog radio performance with higher sensitivity and selectivity. You can set up to 18 FM and 6 AM stations as presets. Presets can be set manually, or automatically using Strong-station Sequential Memory (SSM). If an FM stereo broadcast is hard to receive, you can manually switch the tuner to "Mono" operation. You can also switch the tuner's IF filter to Wide or Auto to increase/decrease the sensitivity.

Built-in HD Radio: With the built-in HD Radio tuner, you can receive digital AM/FM broadcasts from local stations where available. This new technology will significantly improve audio quality and reception, as well as include information such as artist name and song titles or traffic news, viewable on the receiver's display. HD Radio Technology will deliver high-quality digital sound. AM digital will have FM-like quality in stereo, while FM digital will have CD-like quality with static free and clear reception. In addition, AM/FM digital stations can offer text and data such as artist names and song titles. Many HD Radio stations also offer more than one channel of programming. This service is called multicasting. You can setup the KD-HDW10 to search only HD Radio stations. To find HD Radio stations in your area, visit www.hdradio.com.

MP3/WMA Playback: The KD-HDW10 can play MP3/WMA files that have been recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs. The disc must be recorded in one of the following formats: ISO 9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, or Romeo. You can directly access folders numbered 01-12 (they must be assigned two-digit numbers when recorded). Each disc can have a maximum of 8 folder hierarchies, 200 folders, and no more than a total of 512 files on each disc. The unit also supports IDTag3 (version 1.0, 1.1, 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4) for album and artist information from MP3 or WMA files.

Direct Track Access: You can directly access CD tracks 1-12 by pressing the station preset buttons. If a preset button is pressed for less than 1 second, the track corresponding to the number on the preset button is selected (for tracks 1-6). When a preset button is pressed for more than 1 second, the track corresponding to the number above the preset button is accessed (for tracks 7-12).

Preferred Setting Mode: By activating the Preferred Setting Mode (PSM), you can set the clock, choose the time zone and daylight saving time, select the dimmer mode, select the external component type (changer or line input), turn on/off ID3 Tag display, set the Amplifier Gain control (high/low), and several other operational settings.

Intelligent EQ (7-Band iEQ): This model has Rock, Classic, Pops, Hip Hop, Jazz, and User preset EQ curves. The User preset can be adjusted to your preference and stored in memory. For the User preset, you can independently adjust the following frequencies: 60 Hz, 150 Hz, 400 Hz, 1 kHz, 2.4 kHz, 6 kHz, and 15 kHz. The level of each frequency can be adjusted from -5dB to +5dB in 1dB increments.

SRS CS Automotive: SRS Circle Surround Automotive (CS Auto) lets you experience a natural sound field anywhere in the vehicle, unlike other sound field manipulation methods such as time delay. The SRS Circle Surround II decoder converts a stereo signal into multichannel sound. SRS Focus elevates the sound field to an optimal listening level, while SRS TruBass creates rich bass, even without using a subwoofer. SRS Focus can be applied independently to front and rear speakers. SRS TruBass can be applied independently to front and rear speakers and the subwoofer. You can choose from the following presets:

    • Type A: systems with large front speakers with tweeters and rear deck speakers
    • Type B: systems with large front speakers with tweeters and door-mounted rear speakers
    • Type C: systems with small front speakers and door-mounted rear speakers
    • User: allows you to store your own setting

Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KD-HDW10 with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

Subwoofer Output: In addition to the 2.5V front and rear preamp outputs, this unit has a set of 2.0V subwoofer preamp outputs. The subwoofer output has independent level control, adjustable from 00 to 08, and a selectable low-pass crossover. You can select a cutoff frequency of 90, 135, or 180Hz.

Disc Protection: If the ejected disc is not removed within 15 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to protect it from dust; playback starts automatically.

Disc Resume: If you change the source, playback also stops (without ejecting the disc). Next time you select CD for the playback source, the disc will start from where it has been stopped previously.

Dimmer: When 12 volts is applied to the illumination lead and the dimmer set to Auto, the display dims. The dimmer can also be set to Off (normal brightness at all times) or On (display is always dimmed).

Clock Display: While playing a CD, you can switch between the clock display and the CD elapsed time display (the track number always appears). While listening to the radio you can switch between the clock display and the station frequency display. When you press the Display button during power off, the unit will turn on, display the clock for 5 seconds, then shut off. This can be done with the ignition on or off. In the PSM menu, the clock can be set to display with the unit on or off, only turning off when the ignition is turned off ("keyed" operation).

Wireless Remote Control: The KD-HDW10 comes supplied with a wireless remote control (RM-RK50). The remote contains Power, Attenuator, Sound, Source, Tracking and Volume functions.

    External Device Controls

Optional Interface Adapter for iPod: You can connect your iPod to the KD-HDW10 J-Bus port using the optional JVC KS-PD100 iPod Interface Adapter (257KSPD100, sold separately). This optional iPod Interface Adapter supports audio playback for the following iPod models - iPod (3rd/4th generation), iPod photo, iPod mini, iPod nano (1st/2nd/3rd generation), iPod video (5th generation), and iPod classic. You can search for music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, Podcast and Genre. You can also select Repeat (One/All) and Random (Song/Album) modes. In addition, your iPod will charge when connected to the KS-PD100 iPod interface.

You cannot use the KD-MK series CD changers with this unit, even with an adapter.

This feature allows you to connect a portable audio player, such as a portable MP3 player, to this unit as an additional audio source. The adapter connects to the CD changer input on this unit. When the adapter is connected to this unit, a CD changer cannot be connected.
