Straightforward stereo

If you're not into multi-colored lights on your display, JVC's KD-R850BT CD receiver offers you the benefits of a feature-packed car stereo with an understated look for your dash. You'll enjoy super-clean CD playback, a USB input for charging devices and playing your music files, and Bluetooth® for hands-free calling and audio streaming. You can run the show from the well-placed controls on the receiver or by using your smartphone.

Smartphone integration

Bluetooth serves as a wireless bridge between your smartphone and this JVC. Once you pair up this JVC with your smartphone, you can harness Bluetooth's full potential — you'll be able to receive text message notifications, stream the stored music on your phone, or access Internet radio stations, depending on your phone's features. iPhone® users can even communicate with Siri without picking up the phone.

If you enjoy Internet radio on your smartphone, you'll really enjoy playing music from Pandora® and iHeartRadio® on this great-sounding receiver. You can scroll through your stations, bookmark songs, and give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down right from the receiver's face. Load JVC's Smart Music Control app for your Android® and you get access to your receiver's settings, EQ, and sources directly from your smartphone.

Added cool stuff

JVC upped the power in their USB port, which lets you keep your smartphone charged, even when it's doing several tasks at once. Drive Change allows you to connect a memory card reader or USB hub to the receiver's USB input and select music from up to five memory cards or USB flash drives. You can also connect just about any portable audio player using the KD-R850BT's front aux input.

Once you're playing what you want, shape your sound with the onboard 3-band parametric equalizer. If you're adding amplifiers or a powered subwoofer, the two sets of 2.5-volt preamp outputs provide you the clean signal you need.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this JVC stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the JVC, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

App Note: iHeartRadio playback and control requires the "iHeartRadio Link for JVC" app on your smartphone.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

    Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

The car stereo is well packaged and come with an extraction tool in the box in the event that you need to pull the stereo. The beautiful blue lights give it a cool factor and dims well when the lights are on. The display is clear and shows the station names as well as other content. The front facing USB port is handy and the hands free mike is nice, except that it is wired and should have been made wireless. With the built-in Bluetooth it seems like the mike was an afterthought. The clear audio is strong and there is no need for an additional amplifier. For the price it is a very good value.

Pros: The display is clear and bright. The audio is loud and crisp. The multiple features make this a good buy. The installation was easy leaving very little operator error.

Cons: The corded mike is not commensurate with the high quality of the product. It should have been wireless or the mike should have been built in. The instruction manual also seems cheap and lacks adequate details. The instruction on using the provided extraction tool leaves the user to guess on the proper usage. Despite these few shortcomings it is still a very good product.

Great value, Bluetooth works great and the sound people hear on the other end of the phone is very good. Everything else works as expected. Tip: Press the menu button to pause/play. The brightness adjustments aren't very good. Too bright at night (on min setting) and not bright enough during a sunny day (on max setting). I have gotten use to it, but I wish there was more room for adjustment.

Pros: Great Bluetooth phone call sound quality on both ends (microphone mounted on steering wheel column behind the wheel)

    Cons: Poor display brightness adjustments

Bought this to replace the original stereo that was slowly starting to fail. The removal instructions and installation instructions were right on. The wiring kit was very easy to understand and I was finished with the entire job within 20 minutes.

Pros: Very easy to install. Sound quality is much better that the original that came with the vehicle. Blue tooth connected effortlessly to my phone. The installation instructions saved me hours of frustration! I thought that I would have to replace my speakers also, but everything sounds great now!

I'm kind of unsophisticated when it comes to car audio. My new JVC head unit replaces a 15-year-old JVC radio/CD/cassette player that gave me a lot of service, but would never have been able to interact with my phone and other devices.

This one is smarter than I am -- it operates my iPhone (connects via USB or Bluetooth), facilitating hands-free calls, playing my stored music and podcasts and making Siri seem (sometimes a little disturbingly) "present." It turns off my music when I get a call, and turns it back on when I'm done. I didn't even know I needed all that service until I had it.

There has been one loss to my lifestyle -- this unit doesn't play cassettes. It seems like a minor quibble this far into the new millennium, especially because there is a handy aux input right on the face of the unit, so if I I were highly motivated to listen to my Kinks and James Taylor cassettes in the car I could just plug in my portable player.

I have not yet had my socks knocked off by the audio quality, but it sounds fine and I can hear it easily over my old car's road noise. It is a little more complicated to operate than my old unit, simply because it does so many things, but once I figured out how to use the menu function and change the radio stations (and turn off the terribly distracting demo mode light show) everything was fine.

The unit is priced attractively for everything it does, and my brother-in-law said it was easy to install.

Pros: Easy interactivity with other devices Hands-free phone Nice sound

Cons: Face lighting seems too faint in daylight and too bright at night.

I bought this radio for my 1989 Chevy truck that I am restoring. I needed a new radio that would work with my lifestyle. I have had nothing but great experiences with JVC electronic purchases in the past. The bluetooth handsfree with remote microphone is great. Callers have a hard time believing that I am using a handsfree connection. Pandora, IHeart, and NASCAR live using my Android phone are flawless. My co workers are impressed that a 62 year old guy knows what to buy.

Pros: Loaded with lots of features that make it flexible enough for almost any lifestyle. Free install kit made this a 45 minute job to install. Bluetooth pairing is easy.

Cons: Lack of seperate output buttons.

This is a great improvement over the OEM stereo (can you believe Chrysler was still installing cassette players in cars in 2004?!) I originally planned to buy an AUX-IN kit for the OEM stereo but this cost only $50 more and does a lot more. It's a little slow to connect in Bluetooth mode, and turning the ignition switch from RUN to ACC (no matter how quickly you do it) causes the connection to drop. If you make sure the music is already playing on your phone before starting the car, the stereo does seem to pick up the connection a little faster. Still can't get Fast-forward/Rewind or Previous/Next to work in BT mode. A little disappointing since my main reason for wanting BT was to alleviate the need to touch the phone while driving. Radio reception is still great. In my experience, the AM/FM reception on aftermarket stereos rarely stacks up to OEM, but this is actually an improvement.

Pros: Lots of features and very customizable. Nice, big volume knob. Great value. Removable faceplate. All kinds of sound adjustments. Remote control fob. Wired microphone with plenty of cord to reach your desired mounting position. Installation kit instructions were very easy to comprehend.

Cons: Pretty much the only cons I have with this stereo are related to Bluetooth and coincidentally, the only other Bluetooth accessory to give me this much trouble was also made by JVC. Not sure what's going on there... The buttons that control alternative functions are either not very intuitive or they're a little difficult to see. Keep the manual nearby and give yourself a few months to get the hang of the location/function of all the buttons and I think you'll be satisfied.

Its a great unit, I had the same unit just a few model versions earlier (about 2 years ago is when I bought my first) and loved it but sold the car and bought a truck and it is just a must have for me, I love having the bluetooth built in and the usb charging and playback capability is awesome. Works nice with Siri and Google Maps even will interrupt the song and tell directions when using navigation.

Pros: iPod charging and control Bluetooth calls Great EQ and tone

Cons: Only thing I don't like is that when its in iPod mode (instead of head home), I have to turn the volume up every time I start the truck because it goes to 0 volume by default but when in head mode, it keeps the previous volume. But I like iPod mode because I am able to control songs with the iPod. In head mode, I have to unplug the iPod, change the song, and plug it back in. I just like to be able to control the iPod and not have to turn the volume up every time I start the truck. Still 5 stars

The audio and controls are very average. The features this unit offers are great. The worst part about this is the sound quality of using the blue tooth for phone calls. It cuts in and out (not a phone issue) and the microphone/receiver quality is horrible. People have a hard time hearing you and carrying on a conversation.

Great unit for an affordable price. All the things you'd want a car stereo to do these days. Easy installation, and once you get a device paired, the Bluetooth works great. Microphone that comes with it is surprisingly receptive from a distance. Would recommend if you just want features for a reasonable price without a bunch of flashy animation, colors, etc.

Pros: Affordable. Relatively easy to use. Several input options. Easy installation.

Cons: Pairing a Bluetooth device can be somewhat difficult. When using USB the unit takes over your iPod (classic only that I know of. iPhone has full functionality) makes it difficult to navigate the iPod menu one button at a time.

The only issue I have with this car audio radio. Is that you can not see the display. I barely can see the time, station number or anything else. I have the brightness set to the highest number but still unable to see the display information.

Pros: Good solid radio for the money

Cons: Display brightness, not so good.

I was surprised at the fine quality of audio that this system produces. I bought it mainly to replace the radio that came with my Subaru because it had only one CD slot. The JVC KD-R850BT allows an iPhone or iPad to be connected to a USB port and that allows any number of songs to be played. I as also pleased with the sound from the radio for FM and AM stations. This is a great value, fit perfectly, is easy to install and fairly easy to set up and program. I recommend this JVC product.

Pros: Great sound, looks good and Crutchfield tech support is the best.

Cons: It's mostly plug and play but the many options can be a little daunting to program but the owner's manual is very complete and Crutchfield tech support is quickly available to help.

Pros: Love the mute function on the volume control. No need to turn the volume down OR look for the mute like on other radios

Cons: Owner's Manual was not specific enough. Had to play with the menus to make the unit display the info I wanted. Unit functions flawlessly.

I bought this to replace my factory stereo on my 2001 RAV as the cd player in it quit working. This JVC unit actually sounds a lot better in the RAV than the factory one. While it isn't hard to use I am actually still trying to figure out how to set the FM presets 6-12. I actually don't care about a coolness factor very much. I appreciate being able to adjust the brightness on the display but for those who want "cool", well it is more towards normal. I also like the scrolling display of the music you are playing. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but what I wanted... Bluetooth for the phone complete with the ability to use Pandora and IHeartradio as well as being able to connect 5 Bluetooth devices which it remembers for you. Installation was simple with the Crutchfield kit. All in all I am very satisfied with this and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Pros: Ability to adjust sound to your taste with equalizer settings vs just generic selections of rock, jazz, country, etc. Connects to and remembers up to 5 bluetooth devices. Sound output quality better than factory. Removable faceplate. Ability to adjust "in call" volume and remove echo.

Cons: Take a bit of time to figure out how to move through menu and settings, but not too hard.

I installed this in a 1993 Chevrolet pickup to replace a dead factory cassette/AM/FM radio . Crutchfield's instructions and after market parts (in-dash pocket and receiver kit) made for an easier installation than I expected.

Pros: The main thing is that it works and sounds great even with the factory speakers. My teenager drivers like the USB port and phone connection.

Cons: The clock does not indicate the right day and time. Because I don't drive this vehicle very much, I haven't looked into searching for an answer. Also, the mounting bracket seems a little flimsy.

The receiver operates exactly as advertised. Watched a video on line to assist with removing the one installed in my Odyssey and how to rewire the wiring harness. First time I've attempted anything like this and on a 10 point scale the difficulty was 3. Great product. Wish I had done this a long time ago.

Pros: Great receiver with lots of source options that work as advertised. I have a friend that is considering the same unit.

Cons: Missed a start up step to turn off DEMO mode. Caused some frustration with little help from support as to the scrolling demo messages. Found the solution by accident. Also the instructions for the in dash mounting kit was VERY confusing. Guess that's what you get when the kit works for so many different car (Honda) models. Gave up on the printed instructions and guessed what to do. My guessing worked and the receiver is installed and working. The illumination is also too bright even set at 0.

For the modest cost of this unit I wasn't expecting much. I was surprised at how good this unit actually is. I have high-end head units in all of my cars and this is as good as or better than most, in terms of features and "bells and whistles." JVC should leave out the remote control and, instead, spend the money on a better hands-free, noise-canceling microphone. All things considered, I'd buy this unit again.

Pros: - Very reasonably priced. - Great BlueTooth compatibility. - Tons of added features (Pandora; IHeartRadio, etc...) - MP3 via USB works flawlessly.

Cons: - Hands-Free Calling isn't terrific and is subject to lots of background noises. - Sometimes it's hard to get the unit to "let go" of the cell phone during a call. - So many features that there's a steep learning curve. - No "Speed Sensing Volume" adjustment as with many comparable units. - Can't turn down the front-panel brightness enough, so it can be a distraction at night.

This unit was all that was described. It was easy to install in my 2003 Dodge Ram Quad cab. Pay close attention to the wiring instructions as it is easy to make a wrong splice. I also soldered all connections as it makes a positive connection that won't fall apart due to vibrations of the vehicle. The sound was fantastic..On problem was to mount the radio to the bezel there was NO SCREWS.

Pros: EXCELLENT VALUE & SUPERIOR SOUND.

I bought this stereo mainly for the Bluetooth and the more sensitive FM receiver. My Android phone (Droid Razr Maxx) connected easily to the receiver. I mounted the Bluetooth microphone to my sun visor and it picks my voice up very nicely for hands free calls (this receiver is mounted in my 1999 Jeep Wrangler so it's not a quiet environment). I like how Bluetooth audio automatically starts music playing from my phone, as the stock stereo in my other car requires me to have Google Play Music open before it will detect Bluetooth audio. This stereo has very good sound quality (I'm still using original speakers) and was relatively easy to set the clock, equalizer settings and other settings. The FM receiver does seem more sensitive than my last receiver as I now get much better reception on a particular station I listen to in the morning, where before I would get interference as I got closer to work. I haven't tried the CD player yet so I cannot comment on that. I only gave 4 stars for build quality as a couple of the buttons seem somewhat flimsy. Hope they last long term.

Pros: Great price, excellent Bluetooth pairing, Bluetooth audio works great, remote control

    Cons: display button seems flimsy

I installed this to replace a long-dead factory cassette/AM/FM driving the four speakers in a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. Crutchfield's instructions were clear and easy to use. I'm really in awe of this unit's features and the way it's transformed the experience of using this truck. Would recommend this as a low-cost, feature-packed way to replace almost any factory radio.

    Pros: Features/price

Cons: I hadn't expected to be crimping wires, but I had the tools, parts and experience to ensure it came out right the first time. Panel-mounting could be more secure. Controls are a bit confusing to this old fart.

I've been using the receiver for almost 2 weeks now and I can say that it's a definite step up from my factory cd player. I primarily got it for the built-in bluetooth so I could use the bluetooth functionality on Android in the car through the system. But, what can I say? I got much more than I bargained for. The bluetooth works pretty seamlessly, the USB works awesome with my 16GB flash drive, CDs sound wonderful, and the radio works better now than ever.

You might think that's a superlative way to review this product, but it deserves it for the price. The built-in EQ settings are a great feature and I find myself using that quite a lot. I don't have an iPod or iPhone so I can't comment on that part of the stereo.

I'd definitely recommend it to a friend, and in fact I have. This is a great upgrade from the factory stereo, and I look forward to using it until my car dies (and then transferring it to another vehicle).

Pros: Bluetooth functionality responds to the apps on my phone and tablet almost like magic. Lots of built in features like usb, aux, iOS controls, and bluetooth.

Cons: Brightness of display - I find it difficult to get it right. Changing functions changes volume.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The JVC KD-R850BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (version 2.1+EDR), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.5 (Hands Free Profile), OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.3 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC KD-R850BT. See JVC's Bluetooth compatibility chart for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled devices.

Secure Simple Pairing (SSP): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the JVC KD-R850BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. When a paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. You can pair up to five Bluetooth-enabled devices to the JVC  head unit with a maximum of two Bluetooth phones and one Bluetooth audio player connected at one time (but only one can be used at a time).

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication: The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The controls of the KD-R850BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (with mounting bracket) featuring adjustable gain, so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering A Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the head unit's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately or after 1-30 seconds. The KD-R850BT also supports the Call Waiting function, so you can answer another incoming call while suspending the current call you are on. Your compatible cell-phone must also support this feature.
    • Dialing A Number: Using the KD-R850BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:
      • Entering a Phone Number: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 32 digits from the head unit's front-panel rotary dial.
      • Speed Dialing: You can store up to 6 contacts in the memory of this unit for speed dialing.
      • Phone Book: You can dial by using the downloaded phone book. You can download phone book data from your cell phone to the KD-R850BT.You can search through your contacts alphabetically (A-Z) or numerically (0-9). Up to 400 numbers can be stored for each registered cell phone.
      • Call Log: The Call Log is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls (up to 50 each).
      • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply speak into the included microphone.
Note: The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the volume level and noise cancellation of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 10' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone offers an integrated mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash. The external microphone measures 0.525" (diameter) x 1.505" (depth).

SMS: If your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone is compatible with SMS (Short Message Service), the JVC head unit will notify you when a message has been received. You must then use your phone to check the message. You cannot read, edit, or send a message through this unit.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ Metadata Display): The JVC KD-R850BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The KD-R850BT will be able to control basic playback functions of your Bluetooth device's stored music; such as Play/Pause, Skip Next/Previous, Fast Forward/Rewind and Random/Repeat. The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title. The KD-R850BT also supports audio streaming of music apps downloaded on your smartphone with metadata display and limited control. Advanced music control of your music apps will still need be done via your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Audio Section

16 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KD-R850BT utilizes a 16-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The JVC KD-R850BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KD-R850BT are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)
Note: When you are using the KD-R850BT with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

2.5V/4CH Preamp Output + Sub Control: The KD-R850BT is equipped with two pair of 2.5V preamp outputs (Front, Rear/SW). You can set the Rear/SW preamp outputs for connecting a pair of full-range rear speakers (through an external amplifier) or for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When set for rear speakers, the rear outputs operate with the unit's fader control. When the unit's Rear/SW preamp output is set to Subwoofer, you can set the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter at 55Hz, 85Hz, or 120Hz. You can also adjust the head unit's subwoofer level between -8 and +8 (separate from the main volume level).

Pro EQ: The KD-R850BT is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 12 preset sound modes (Flat, Hard Rock, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Talk, vocal Boost, Bass Boost, Classical, Dance, User 1, or User 2) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 3-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

    Pro EQ
    Frequency Level Q
    Bass 60, 80, 100, 200 Hz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.75, 1.0, 1.25

    Customer Q&A

    7 questions already asked

Yes, it works very well for that. I put the microphone on the steering column right behind the wheel so that it picks up my voice well, and most people on the other end of the phone can't even tell I'm in a car. [ STEPHEN  Sep 08, 2014 ]
Yes you will be able to hear the caller thru your car speakers and it comes with a mic that you will use to speak back to the caller. [ JOSEPH  Sep 08, 2014 ]
Yes, as long as your phone is paired with the receiver. [ JAMES  Sep 08, 2014 ]
Yes, you can use handsfree over the speakers and provided microphone. Just remember to connect microphone on rear of head unit prior to installing. [ ROBERT  Sep 08, 2014 ]
LaShawn, It comes with the mic for you to route and install wherever u wish (there is plenty of cord and the sticky tape works well) for your voice. But, you will hear everything from your speakers. The mic works just like your phone for audio input after you push the top left button on the head unit to cue the mic up. You can even record conversations if you wish. Hope this helps, Stu [ STUART  Sep 08, 2014 ]
Yes, with the supplied corded mic. Works great, sounds great, mic picks up great. [ ROBERT  Sep 08, 2014 ]
Yes you can. You have to set it up and link it to your phone via bluetooth. It comes with a microphone you mount inside the car and the sound comes through the speakers. [ SHEREE  Sep 08, 2014 ]
Yes it comes with a microphone that you connect to and I have it in my car and it works great [ CLAYTON T  Sep 08, 2014 ]
This stereo has both Bluetooth and aux in Jack for connecting most newer phones. However, I don't know if the forward and back buttons and a few other functions on the unit will work as they do with my iPhone over Bluetooth. I suspect they will. On another note, this unit gets confused now and then when some hardware connection changes and the unit freezes. It becomes inoperable until I power it down, usually I quickly disconnect the faceplate to reset it. [ Robert  Aug 17, 2014 ]
You can play music through the headphone jack using a 1/8" stereo jack. The bluetooth should have no problem working for calls, but I don't know if it has any extra features useable over bluetooth. [ KYLE  Aug 11, 2014 ]
It should be. You can go to JVC's website for a complete compatability listing. I am certain that it is compatible though. [ MATTHEW B  Aug 11, 2014 ]
It should be compatible. I've used it with several different Android devices and it's worked with the Bluetooth each time. If you are asking if the USB works, I don't know, but it should according to the specs. The stereo does everything and more I want it to do really. [ Stephen  Aug 11, 2014 ]
I ONLY KNOW IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH MY OLD SAMSUNG GALAXY II AND MY NEW LG G2 PHONE. I FEEL COMFORTABLE SAYING THAT IT WILL WORK WITH ANY PHONE. I LOVE JVC RADIOS. ONE SPECIAL FEATURE I LOVE IS THE VOLUME BUTTON. NO NEED TO FIDDLE AROUND TRYING TO MUTE THE SOUND. JUST SIMPLY PUSH IN THE VOLUME KNOB MOMENTARILY TO MUTE/UNMUTE [ JUAN N  Aug 11, 2014 ]
    Yes... I believe there is a wire... [ GARY  Jul 13, 2014 ]
Thanks. I got conflicting answers so I will stick with my 2012 or 2011 model. Some say this one has a dimmer wire and some say it does not. Thanks again. [ Jason  Jun 17, 2014 ]
Not sure if it dims with the console. I know you can set the daytime and nighttime dim settings. Don't have access to it now to check sorry. [ IAN  Jun 16, 2014 ]
Thank you. Most helpful. I have a JVC variable color 2011 model but the BT isn't up to today's standards and calls are awkward to answer and make. It does however dim when the lights are on. Because of the radio location I need it max bright in the day and to dim when the headlights are on so it's not blinding. [ Jason  Jun 16, 2014 ]
Thanks! I've got a variable color JVC from 2012 and it dims when the headlights are on by adjusting the dimmer on the panel. I can't buy one that does not have this feature. Because of the stupid location of the radio in the car I need it super bright in the day and to dim automatically at night. Bummer. Thanks again. [ Jason  Jun 16, 2014 ]
Yes, there is a wire that will control the radio's illumination whether your headlights are turned on or not. If the radio's illumination (dim) wire is connected to the same color wire from an automobile that offers this connection, the radio will dim properly. The radio is programmable in what level it does dim for day (headlights off) and night (headlights on). The dimming ability of the radio allows this dimming to also be different for the radio backlight and for the selection buttons. For each (day or night) you can set the background intensity (and color) and the selection button intensity (and color). [ DONALD J  Jun 16, 2014 ]
It has it's own setting for the display brightness. There's a day and night mode. [ SHEREE  Jun 16, 2014 ]
no sd card slot available, only usb and aux. plug. great stereo [ STEPHEN  Jun 06, 2014 ]
    NO SD Slot. Only 1 USB [ JUAN N  Jun 04, 2014 ]
    No sd slot [ ROBERT  Jun 03, 2014 ]
There is a USB port that you can plug a flash drive into, I haven't tried using a card reader but I suppose that might work as a work around for The lack of a SD card slot. [ Stephen  Jun 03, 2014 ]
    do not have [ MIGUEL  Jun 03, 2014 ]
No, only USB and headphone jack. [ MATTHEW B  Jun 03, 2014 ]
No, no SD card sot just USB and Aux mini jack. [ LENN  Jun 03, 2014 ]
No. This unit has USB input but no SD card slot. I also wanted an SD slot but chose this model for its FM sensitivity. I keep a USB thumb drive in my car to play higher quality .wav music files sometimes. [ Robert  Jun 03, 2014 ]
