Can't find your exact car?

All the best in digital music

Tired off digging around in your car to find the scratchy old CD you dropped between the seats? Ditch the discs and go digital with JVC's KD-X310BT. This digital media receiver handles all your music devices, plus it gives you a lot more power than your factory radio. Built-in Bluetooth® lets you enjoy hands-free calling and wireless streaming audio.

Ready for your Android™ phone

Android™ users can control Pandora® right from the stereo through the Bluetooth connection — no wires needed. JVC's Smart Music Control app lets you use your compatible Android phone's touchscreen to control the action using finger swipes and gestures — for example, make an upside-down "V" to change the source. With your Android phone safely attached to a mount, you can reach down and skip a track without taking your eyes off the road.

The KD-X310BT plays MP3, WMA, WAV, and even FLAC files. Putting together a custom road mix on a thumb drive for a long trip? You can use JVC's Playlist Creator software on your Windows® PC to organize your music, so you can find the song you want in a flash with the JVC's controls.

This digital media receiver will not play CDs. If you want to play CDs in your vehicle, we offer a wide selection of CD receivers.

Siri® Eyes Free technology

If you're an iPhone user, this receiver gives you more than wireless control -- you get voice control. Talk to Siri to make calls, choose music, get directions, and more. Anything you can do with Siri can be done with this receiver.

The KD-X310BT is all about app control, too. Pandora® or iHeartRadio users can connect to the receiver and access basic controls like "play," "pause," "thumbs-up," and "thumbs-down" on the screen display. For added convenience, the 2-way control feature lets you pick music using the receiver's controls, or you can use the phone itself.

JVC KD-X310BT Digital Media Receiver

The simple control panel gives you access to a wide range of entertainment options.

Do more with your USB connection

The powerful 1A USB port lets you keep your smartphone charged while it's performing many battery-draining tasks at once. And with your smartphone connected, you can listen to your phone's internal memory as one source and access the little microSD card as another. You can even pair two phones at once, so you'll never have to decide between the personal phone and the work phone again. The Drive Change feature allows you to connect a memory card reader or USB hub to the JVC's USB input and select music from up to five memory cards or USB flash drives.

Expand your system

The KD-X310BT offers the connections you'll need if you're planning to build a complete car audio system sometime in the future. When it's time to add a powered sub, you can switch the rear preamp outputs over to subwoofer mode to control your bass from the receiver. A front aux input lets you hook up other gear, like a Dock & Play satellite radio.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

My son and I installed this one afternoon in less than an hour. It only took that long because I was trying to teach him along the way. All that to say Crutchfield makes it Super easy to install your own stereo in whatever car you have. I honestly did not think it would be as easy as it was.

Pros: Bluetooth and hands -free phone use are a big bonus. The ability to set Pro EQ is nice as well

Cons: Display can be hard to read during sunlight, even at the brightest setting.

This head unit packs a ton of tech and sound in a small footprint. The Bluetooth and Pandora were great additions to my wife's 03 Mercedes C240. The stock deck had AM/FM and cassette and now she can stream her iTunes music via BT or USB, charge her iPhone or listen to Pandora with much greater fidelity. I did miss a step during the install that required the connection of the Mercedes antenna amp to the JVC power antenna lead. That killed the AM/FM reception until I called Crutchfield and got it straightened out. I had to pull out the JVC and connect the harness wire correctly and now the radio reception is perfect. Moral of that story: Follow the helpful instructions that Crutchfield provides regardless of what you think you know.

Pros: Good power. Bright blue display, Apps, EQ Mode, Ease of Install

Cons: A bit too menu button centric.

This is a great media player. I bought it to replace the aging OEM stereo on my 2007 Chevy Cobalt, and to add bluetooth capabilities. Install was pretty simple (maybe 15 minutes total, not including the 10-15 minutes of wiring done at the kitchen table). Sound quality is great, and the sound through bluetooth is great too. The favorite stations on the radio took a while to get used to (you can push 1 through 6 on the face, but to get to 7-18 you have to go to menu, then scroll to the right favorite), and it seems to take longer than I would expect to connect to my phone via bluetooth, but for the price, it was a great buy. I'd highly recommend it.

Pros: Easy install, small size, great sound

Cons: Not super user friendly, and bluetooth seems to take a while to connect to my phone.

I have two of these units. One is installed in my 96 Bronco and the other is installed in my 2015 Frieghtliner. If you stream audio from Pandora, iHeart, Spotify, ect then you'll enjoy the wireless ability to connect your phone or tablet to this JVC unit. It's best to only use one paired device. My tablet is paired to my Frieghtliner JVC unit and my Android phone is paired to my Bronco's unit. The JVC unit comes with a microphone to take/make calls, but I've been told it isn't very clear and has that "bottom of a well" sound for the other person. When backed up with good speakers (I use Infinity Reference Series speakers) this unit kicks out great crisp highs and deep booming lows. For the money, it's a good buy.

Pros: Ease of use Great sound- even without an amp The Pro EQ is very adjustable Buttons and screen brightness can be individually adjusted Price point

Cons: Calls sound hollow and distant for your caller Cannot adjust color of buttons

Nice receiver. I replaced the stock unit in my 03 Wrangler. JVC is much louder than stock stereo, so I'm debating whether or not to even get an amplifier. Easy installation with Crutchfield installation kit.

Pros: Easy fit / install. Sounds good.

Cons: USB on front panel. Not a big deal, but a USB cable off the back would have been nice too. Controls for multiple FM (1 2 & 3) presets are confusing

Installation was a breeze (with the help of YouTube!). Upgraded the factory radio in a 98' Buick LeSabre. I LOVE this JVC radio! The deciding factor for me was the EQ control. There's "easy" and "pro" settings for ALL your tweaking needs. There's also enough output power to make my Kicker 5-1/4's and 6x9's THUMP and ROCK!! I do NOT need subwoofers now...but it sounds like I have them in the trunk! I'd put this radio in any vehicle! Outstanding value and sound.

Pros: EQ settings really let you dial in YOUR mix. Bluetooth allows you to hear callers through the speakers while you drive!

    Cons: None that I've found!

I bought this to replace a factory am/fm/CD receiver. The unit was easy to install and worked immediately. Bluetooth pairing was straight forward. Setting up pandora from my iPhone was simple, but I have yet to successfully set up Iheart radio. The sound quality from both Bluetooth and USB is very good. I am not a huge fan of the styling, display, or buttons but for a unit in this price range it's pretty much on par with other brands.

    Pros: Great value easy setup

Cons: The supplied Microphone did not work out of the box but Crutchfield is mailing me a new one.

The receiver is working wonderfully and has a nice clear sound. I love the pause feature, being able to make and accept calls through it and Pandora especially. It is very easy to use. I haven't used the usb feature yet but if it works as well as the rest, then I am sure I will love it too. The display is a bright blue but I adjusted to it after a few nights and don't notice it anymore. The holder that came with it does not actually fit in my dash despite being advertised that it would. I drive an '02 Toyota Corolla CE, perhaps it fits the dash in the LE. No biggie, we just used the holder from the old player. The wiring harness doesn't come with butt connectors---maybe not a big deal but it would have been nice if they were included.

Pros: Clear sound, intuitive features, easy to push buttons

Cons: Items that come with do not necessarily fit

This is a very basic media receiver with bluetooth. The single wiring harness is very easy to crimp or solder to, and the profile of the unit is quite small, probably half the depth of a CD/DVD drive model. This means it's ideal for a tight installation. Unit is very nicely laid out, and the remote is simple, and easy to use.

Pros: Easy install, small unit... Comes with lots of extra wire for the included microphone for bluetooth. JVC unit has plenty of power, and volume increases smoothly without jumping in volume levels. Sound quality is good. This is a great lower priced full featured stereo.

Cons: The plate/frame to slide the unit into should be slightly heavier to provide a slightly sturdier mount for the radio... I installed this into a 1" thick teak bulkhead in my boat, and the frame rocks a bit more than I'd like... but I may shim it to tighten it up... NOT a deal breaker, the slide is no worse than any other radio I've used.

I bought this for my 2000 Jetta Vr6 to replace it with the old monsoon radio, don't get me wrong the old one still sounded nice but the radio was coming in all fuzzy sometimes. I replaced the antenna and cables and still the same, so I decided to get a new radio. I came across this one because of the Bluetooth system and thought it was interesting. Overall the sound quality is much better than the old one but the only downside is the Bluetooth sounds like your at the other end of a room if your on the other end.

Pros: Quality is great, access is simple and fast to use, installation was a breeze.

Cons: Bluetooth works good but not that loud while listening on the other end.

    Terrible Experience

Written by: Tom L from Ohio on January 4, 2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Everything about this experience was terrible. I talked to a customer rep who made me believe I could do this myself, lie. He said that Crutchfield would walk me through the instillation, lie. I received no directions in the box when I asked if I would receive anything. I do not like the stereo I was suggested and I trusted Crutchfield wouldn't steer me wrongly. I don't like the stereo, its a pain especially with bluetooth. I have lots of questions and not a lot of answers. Avoid this place like the plague. Ohh, in the end I ended up taking the stereo to a local place who charged me an arm and a leg so I got someone else to charge me to install this stereo. What a terrible experience with Crutchfield!

    Pros:

    Cons:

Crutchfield response on January 6, 2015 We should've emailed the installation instructions to you again when you first contacted our Tech Support team. As for the stereo, yes, some are more difficult to use than others, and that's a very personal thing. You might find that a different brand is easier for you to use than the JVC. It's a very popular stereo (we sell a lot of them and actually have them returned less often than most other stereo models), but if you weren't happy with it, then returning it to us was the right thing to do. We hope any future experiences with Crutchfield will go better.

I replaced the stock stereo w/cassette player in my 2000 Ford Escort but left the stock speakers. The improvement is remarkable. The mids and highs are a lot clearer. The bass is still a bit muddy but I'm sure a swap of speakers will cure that. I still haven't tried all of the options yet but the ones I've used have been good. The blue tooth feature is nice. I love adding the ability to answer the phone while driving. The preset equalizer settings have been pretty good given the speakers I have. The clock has been the only down side. I can't get it to stay on time. No matter how many times I try to set it, it defaults back to 10:00am witihin minutes. I imagine I'm doing something wrong but I haven't had time to deal with it. It's a minor annoyance so I don't know that I will ever fix it.

This stereo works great for me. I have it in my 2001 GMC Jimmy, which had a less-than-stellar stereo. The installation went flawlessly and worked immediately after setting it up. I love using the Bluetooth option with Pandora because i dont need an aux cord or anything. The only thing i am disappointed about is that i cannot seem to change the display for more than ten seconds. It seems as if it is in demo mode the whole time, which has gotten annoying.

Install and setup was very easy. I don't use CD's anymore, so a digital media receiver made the most sense. The bluetooth and included external mic work great. The menus could be a bit simpler, but most tech savvy types will be fine. The sound quality over the VW factory unit is way better, especially at high volume. All in all- this is a great receiver for the price.

Pros: Price, ease of install, quick setup, strong sound quality, great bluetooth streaming and phone functions.

Cons: The menus should/could be simpler, does not have a great range of dimming and brightness at night.

I've only had it a few days but I'm extremely impressed! For the price this is a huge improvement over my factory unit in my 2004 Volvo S60. It's a real convenience to use bluetooth for any calls and also not to have to swipe open my phone to change songs. Extremely satisfied.

Pros: Easy setup, just connecting red to red, blue to blue, etc. I did it myself in about 30 minutes. Seems to be really good value compared to others in similar price range. The sound is great, starts up fast enough, plenty of customization. Great device

Cons: The blue is pretty bright. Some people like that though. Menu navigation is a little weird as well.

Pros: Sounds Great, looks good, and has good features if you want to use your radio with your phone (i use it with and iPhone 5s)

Excellent stereo! I installed this in a 1999 Corvette along with the Axxess XSVI-2004 so I could retain my Bose speakers without the need of running xtra wiring, the sound is awesome. Now I have hands free calling and all the great features from bluetooth. Hooked up my Android phone, no problem. I now can enjoy wireless bluetooth to listen to Pandora and Iheartradio, no wires protruding from my dash. The installation went very smooth, the phone calls are crystal clear. Pleasure to deal with Crutchfield, they sent me everything I needed. Highly recommend!

This turned out to be a great unit, I wanted a Kenwood but could not find a unit that meet my specific needs. Crutchfield rep recommended this unit but I had never owned JVC products before. I went ahead and ordered it and I am glad I did, this unit works great. It's a little difficult to navigate at first but once you get used to it it's no big deal. The Bluetooth works amazing and my iPhone pairs up with the unit automatically as soon as I get in the vehicle. IPod function works great also and can be controlled from the head unit. I am very impressed with the Bluetooth clarity when connected to phone calls and works great with Siri too! I would highly recommend this unit!!!

Great digital receiver, easy to use, and cheap bluetooth. I have no CDs anymore so this is perfect. It has only one annoying flaw; it doesn't initiate the BT connection until you select BT audio. This means waiting 30-60 seconds for it to pair up again every time you change inputs or turn on the stereo.

Pros: Easy to use, dims with the rest of the console, good amplification and sound

Cons: Doesn't maintain the Bluetooth pairing unless you've selected BT Audio

Radio, Bluetooth, and USB all work well. The USB reads the flash drive much quicker than my last receiver. Scrolling and searching for songs is not as easy as I'd like and the tool to create a database on the drive is limited but the overall USB functionality is good. Bluetooth also works very well. The iHeartAuto app I downloaded on my phone doesn't see the receiver but the regular iHeartRadio app and TuneIn work fine. JVC has other smartphone apps but I haven't spent too much time learning about them.

Pros: The controls are easy to use.

Cons: The display limits USB searching and scrolling.

I bought this because I wanted a CD Free receiver in my Sprinter van. I am running this with 2 6x9's in a box and a single 10" sub on a 4x100 w amp with the head unit powering a 2 way 4" dash speaker with separate tweeters. This combo is very good and makes a lot of sense for my van from an install perspective.

Head unit takes a little getting used to, but has solid preset EQ options and the ability to make adjustments to varying sound ranges. I've been able to dial in my system.

Pandora controls are meh. As expected, dumbing down the interactive nature to an LCD and 2 buttons is frustrating. If you are playing from pandora it automatically forces you to use the headunit which makes driving and trying to find a relax or station more dangerous than just using your phone.

Demo mode is annoying, but easy to turn off.

Pros: -Good power for my use. -Has features I like, but many I won't use. -Good sound quality. -Easy to install -Lots of options in the head unit like bass boosting and rear channel crossover for sub (I'm using bass blockers on the front mids and the amp crossover for the back) -Decent Value

Cons: -Pandora control is not a plus -Looks and feels cheap -LCD could be brighter for sure -Sound quality much improved over stock, but I think it's a little gainy even on low gain mode from built in amp.

I recently bought this for my 99 Miata and absolutely love this unit already. I bought it to replace the factory head unit because I was sick of using an FM modulator with my devices. The Bluetooth connects fast and works like a champ whether connecting with my ipod or cell phone. Coupled with a new set of Blaupunkt 5x7's in the doors, the sound quality has obviously undergone a drastic improvement. As usual, my order was processed and shipped incredibly fast and I recieved everything as advertised. With the addition of the harness adapters and mastersheet, installation was incredibly easy and I was able to install both the deck and speakers in less than an hour. **Note to fellow Miata owners, If you have a 99-05 Miata, you will only need the wiring harness to complete the installation. The DIN sleeve fits securely in the stock position without using the supplied Metra install kit.

Pros: Great Price, cool looking deck, great functionality and sound quality, ease of installation. A few people mentioned that it doesnt tell time.. This is incorrect. The clock works all the time, you just need to configure the display to show it.

Cons: Not really a big deal, but there isn't a storage case supplied for the detachable face. Not really a con, but the operating instructions provided with the stereo are a bit vague in a few areas such as tuner operation.

I bought this stereo as a gift for my daughter, and I installed it in her 1996 VW Jetta. I have bought from Crutchfield before and they are the best. I really like their model-specific step-by-step instructions for different cars, there was no guesswork whatsoever and installing it was easy! The installation looked clean and professional. As for the JVC KD-X310BT, wow. Great stereo. My daughter's car has component speakers that really came to life, the clarity from this unit is unbelievable. I've owned cars with stock radios and cars with a fully amplified system with subwoofer, etc... - and you would never know this unit was not being run through an amplifier, the clarity is great - even at higher volumes. It's a nice-looking stereo with great features. The Bluetooth paired immediately and seems to have a strong connection, if there is such a thing. Audio played from your phone via Bluetooth is so clean you would think the phone was directly connected via USB. The display is clean and easy to read with enough characters to display most song titles in their entirety. The phone works great and their audio controls for the phone are effective - once it's dialed in the clarity is very good and the echo-canceling feature really does work well. It's amazing that you can get a stereo of this quality, with this many features at such a good price.

Pros: No more CD's. Every feature works well. The sound quality is great. The "coolness factor" really is 5 stars in my opinion.

Cons: If there is a con, it's just the learning curve of using the menu - just like every other stereo out there. I sat in the car with the manual in my lap and had everything pretty much figured out in 20-30 minutes. But once it is dialed in the way you want it I doubt you will need to go into the menus very much.

We encourage every customer to contact us before ordering to confirm that the stereo is going to do everything you want it to and to make sure you get everything you need to make it work. I installed this radio in a low speed electric vehicle similar to a golf cart. It's been great. It's Bluetooth functions work well. Hands-free phone is cool. The kids also enjoy plugging their Ipods into the USB port on the radio's face.

Pros: Inexpensive radio w/ great features

    Cons: none

Great unit for the price I paid! I needed a simple Bluetooth receiver for my phone and tablet in the car and this thing fits the description and works great!

Pros: Small size, easy to install, great sound, works great!! Small external Mic for phone makes the call quality actually workable while driving.

Cons: The only con is I can't adjust the color of the display and the auto adjusting brightness doesn't seem to work in my car.

    Great Sound! Easy Install.

As Much As I like this Stereo. I am amazed how easy the install was. Ordered 4 kicker speakers as well. Got the package today @2p. Was kinda busy, and thought I wouldn't get to it today. Started with 1 speaker , and that went well, so the other, then the back pair.... The crutchfield directions, and install kits, wiring harnesses, and tools made this so easy. The last time I put in a stereo, was in the 80's. The installs have come along way. Stereo was simple to install, and to set up. I usually don't review things , but this experience was worth taking the time for the review. Thanks Crutchfield, wont hesitate to order from you again. Will definitely pass this on to friends.

Pros: Easy install Nice looking unit Sounds great Easy setup

I spent several months looking for a unit to replace my defunct stock HU and FM transmitter. I have a 2004 Ford Taurus SES with minimal space in the dash and the unfortunate combination of a/c controls with it. I've replaced HUs before but none that required so much interior disassembly as Ford was nice enough to put the amplifier in the trunk *sigh*.... Overall the unit fits my needs and is easy to control.

Pros: Separate dimmer control for buttons/display with auto day/night switching Controls my iPhone music apps Pandora interoperability is awesome Charges a connected USB device fairly quickly Powers on/off quickly Smaller form factor for tight spaces Prestripped wiring harness connections Buttons and volume dial are easy to operate while keeping your eyes on the road

Cons: Remote is small and has few useful functions (I lost it in the first week) The HU cage is flimsy, the mounting brackets were much more useful The display has crazy glare in the daytime making reading it at a glance close to impossible

I bought this system to replace the 6 CD changer in my 2002 Ranger Edge 4x4. The sound is excellent, even with the factory speakers. Its loud, clean and the Bluetooth works flawlessly with my iPhone5, playing my playlist on the phone and Pandora without any problems. The installation was done by my 18 year old son, since the system was a Fathers Day present. Im quite happy with the system.

Pros: High power, ease of connections with phone, excellent FM radio quality, lots of adjustable features, clear phone calls.

    Cons: no complaints!

I installed this receiver into a 2003 Blazer about a week ago and I'm extremely happy with it. Installation was a breeze. The wiring diagram and adapters that were supplied were a breeze to follow. Just match up the wires by color and connect. I chose to solder the wires together but it would work just as well with the crimp connectors. The radio sleeve fit right into the single-din kit an felt very solid once I bent the tabs on the sleeve to hold it in. No mods were required to the truck at all, just bolted right up. The receiver is light and only about 4" deep. I did place a small spacer between the bottom of the radio and the pocket on the single din kit which made it sit very level once installed. Plugged the adapter into the radio and connected to the stock wiring harness. All functioned perfectly including the auto-dimmer when the lights are turned on.

I did go with an aftermarket mic for the Bluetooth phone (olympus ME-52W), because I had read reviews that the stock mic was crappy. Hands-free phone sound quality is good and voice dialing works very well.

I downloaded the JVC app for my Android and it works like a champ. Once I paired it up it autoconnects every time I get in the car now. Playback of music files from the phone via Bluetooth sounds great. It is pretty cool how you can control the receiver with the phone as well. Have not tried the USB input but it is a cool option to stick a thumb flashdrive in there to play MP3s.

    Very Happy!

Pros: Installation instructions very clear. Wiring kit very easy to follow as all wire colors matched for both harnesses Sound quality is great. Tons of features for the price. JVC Android App Hands-free Bluetooth!

Cons: Buttons and volume knob do feel a bit cheap. Setup could be a bit complicated for some (not really an issue for me)

Stock system 01 Civic LX, install was easy with the adapter kit. Now I was going to upgrade my speakers at some point..thinking I would, but holy carp, the sound with the stock speakers, and I had to open the trunk to see if they actually were stock... yes, is amazing with this unit, I'm a bass junky and this unit had my mirrors vibrating, with stock speakers! I actually had met my match, I have never had to turn the bass down on any head unit I have had, always maxed out, not this little gem, I had to back off, sorry Crutchfield, stock speakers can stay... but then again can you imagine an upgrade? hummmm. Only complaint would be the display, which I can not really see well in daylight, yes I have it all the way up.

Pros: For the price, I can't imagine better

    Cons: Display brightness

    Nice unit for the price
