iPhone Audio/Video Cable (for JVC): The JVC KS-U59 works with select 2014 JVC multimedia receivers to connect iPhone 4 and 4S devices in order to show apps and video on the JVC receiver touchscreen monitor in App Link Mode. The cable also supports audio/video playback, content navigation, song/artist information, album art, and charging of other 30-pin Apple iPods/iPhones.
Note: Not compatible with newer iPod/iPhone devices with Apple Lightning-connector.
Connectors: The KS-U59 cable features a 30-pin dock connector on one end which plugs into your iPhone 4/4S. On the other end of the cable is a USB (type-A) connector which plugs into your compatible JVC receiver's rear-panel USB (type-A) port and a 3.5mm AV connector which plugs into the head unit's rear-panel 3.5mm video jack.
Note: The cable is 6' in length from the 3.5mm AV connector to the Apple 30-pin dock connector, and 32" in length from the USB (type-A) connector to the Apple 30-pin dock connector.
JVC Head unit Compatibility: The JVC KS-U59 works with select 2014 JVC multimedia receivers which offer App Link Mode, as well as feature a rear-panel USB (type-A) port and 3.5mm AV jack. Compatible models include (as of 4/1/2014):
iPod/iPhone Compatibility Chart: The JVC KSU-59 is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features when used with a compatible JVC multimedia receiver (as of 4/1/2014):
|Apple Device||Generation||Tested Version||Media Type||Control Type||Display Type||Charge|
|Audio||Video||Head Unit||iPod/iPhone||App Link||Pandora App||Album Art||Song/Artist Text||Track Info|
Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.

Edward, I this is the best answer I can give to your question about the JVC KW-20BT. I think complete compatibility will only happen with the with the iPhone 4s. I read many reviews before purchase of this unit. One of the reviews turned up this information: ByBuffFanon November 26, 2014 If you have an accessory that requires this cable (like the JVC KW-V520BT) and you have an iPhone 5 or greater, this cable will not work for video, even with an Apple 30 pin (old style) to Lightning (new style) adapter. This is due to design differences in each of the connectors, and the Lightning connector won't pass video through to the 30-pin connector. Apple has numerous other converters for things like HDMI and VGA connections, but if your receiver requires this cable, your Apple device must have the old style 30 pin connector. I understand that you are requesting information about the JVC KW-20BT and the above review is about KW-V52BT, however I believe the result of the connection between the JVC KS-U59 and the apple connector would be the same. I don't think it would work. Just my opinion. I hope this helps. Larry [ Lawrence Dec 09, 2014 ]
You can use that cord or you can order the conversion plug that uses an hdmi cord for the iPhone that allows if to be mirrored on TVs etc. and retain your USB input on your head unit for simple streaming music or as a charging port [ SPENCER Dec 08, 2014 ]
thanks so much... [ edward Dec 08, 2014 ]
Hello, This cable works flawless with i- phone 4s , ipads and iPods.it plays videos, music and Netflix. I have not tried the iphone 5 yet. As long as the lightning adapter comes from Verizon or Apple. It should work. I work for Mercedes and we have had no issues with the adapters from either place working in our cars. Hope this helps [ Sadie Dec 08, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Unfortunately, no. This cable is designed for audio and video from the iPhone4 and 4s. The iPhone 5 and up require the receiver to have a compatible HDMI input. For audio/video from the iPhone 5, the customer would need to upgrade their radio. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Jun 13, 2014 ] Staff
