Love local radio? Then it's time to check out the crystal-clear reception and improved sound quality that HD Radio technology can bring to your favorite AM/FM broadcasts. Just connect this external HD Radio tuner to your compatible JVC stereo, then tune in to participating stations to start enjoying AM that's as clear as FM, along with FM that's almost CD quality.

HD Radio delivers more than just superior sound, it enhances your listening experience, giving you greater variety without subscription fees. Many HD stations multicast additional channels of programming along with their normal radio content. The KT-HD300 lets you tune in these alternate channels. Wonder what song you're listening to? Just check your JVC's display. HD Radio stations can also broadcast artist info, song titles and other text information.

Hide the compact JVC KT-HD300 in a convenient spot, and hook up the simple power and signal connections — a data cable connects your HD tuner directly to your JVC's CD changer port. The convenient pass-through port means you can have HD Radio and keep your CD changer, too. Warranty: 1 year.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, I'm very please with my purchase. It's a pleasure to do business with
Crutchfield and their excellent customer service! This unit has excellent
reception and is simple to install. I was pleasantly surprised with how many HD
stations are in my area. I've often heard the claim HD radio sound rivals CD,
but I wouldn't go that far. You can hear a difference over standard analog, but
many stations offer only a modest sound improvement.. This might be due to their
broadcast bit rate or sound compression, I'm not sure..

Great Radio add-on

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I choose this over the satellite radio add-on as there is no montly costs
associated with HD radio. I am amazed at the great reception and sound
quality that this add-on provides. If you're in a large metropolitan area, the
number of HD stations is great. Some of your favorite stations even broadcast
more than one program at a time, so there are many more choices with this

Outstanding sound quality

Easy to install, does what it advertises

Written By jmetz, Boise, ID on Monday, April 05, 2010

I too was misinformed by one of the earlier reviews that claimed it would provide radio
text info (artist, song, cd) for analog stations. It does NOT!! It does provide RDS info for
HD stations, but Boise provides all of a couple of HD stations presently, and classical at
that. If I were living in a major city I would be ecstatic. The reason I bought this unit was
becaue my new JVC Kameleon receiver did not provide radio text. So naturally I'm a little
disappointed. However, I couldn't rate it low as it does provide crystal clear HD stations
with RDS info, and the AM reception is much better than it used to be. It is bigger than I
thought it would be, but it was easy to install, and luckily I had some space for it.

Adds range to radio sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I added this unit to the JVC Arsenal KDA805. The HD radio adds a lot depth to the music that is being broadcasted. You notice it most in the base. It really is like listening to a CD. I never truly realized how flat the music was on the radio until now. It was very easy to install.

Great if you want HD

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The HD tuner does what it says. This is great if you live in larger markets and have access to a lot of HD signals. If you're in a smaller market or travel quite a bit, then you'll notice the signal drop in and out or mix with the analog signal.

You may have to creatively mount the unit since it doesn't come with any mounting equipment.

The best route to go is to get the discount by buying with a JVC head unit. I got mine with the JVC KDA805. There are several that come with HD radio built in (I've owned two JVC units with built in HD before) but they don't seem to have as many features and options as you would if you got a unit without HD and then added the separate HD tuner later.

Good product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This equipment works great.

HD does sound noticeably better than regular radio. The downside is the signal fades in and out as I'm driving on the freeway, but JVC HD radio does a good job of switching between HD and regular signals.

My only complain about this item is how difficult it is to find a mounting spot for installation. As you can see in the product photo, the box is all smooth with no place for screws. Took me a while to find a good pocket in my car to place it. Not as straightforward is the JVC receiver I first installed.

Works great with JVC KW-AVX820

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This thing was very easy to install and made a huge improvement to the
screen appearance on my JVC KW-AVX820. I like seeing the Artist and
Song so I can find and buy songs I like. Sound seemed a little better but
not as good as Sirus.

My JVC KW-AVX820 was loaded as my Head Unit on Crutchfield when I
was searching for HD Radio adapter and the web site was telling me "This
item does not work with your JVC KW-AVX820".. That is an error - it does
work with this HU.

Does what it is supposed to

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well, I'm not crazy about requiring a separate box for the HD radio option but it worked out good for me since the factory radio I was replacing (2002 Chevy Malibu) was much taller than my replacement receiver so this device fit nicely just below it. My choices were limited on receivers do to the limited cavity depth of my car.

Although I'm not holding it against this device, I'm not very impressed with HD radio. Yes, it gives me a few more channels I couldn't get with regular FM but I can't hear the difference between regular FM and HD FM. With AM it makes a BIG difference but I don't listen to AM. This could just be due to the limited quality of my receiver (JVC KDR600) or factory speakers but I was hoping for a bigger improvement in sound quality.

Not worth the money, yet.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this based on another review here and the advice of crutchfield engineers that it would provide RDS (artist, song title) info for my analog radio stations that I missed after replacing my stock unit. However, this information proved incorrect. Confirming my finding, I finally got a belated reply from JVC Customer Care rep after 2 months that read:

"I understand you are inquiring about the Radio Data System (RDS) will be available to analog stations. We apologize if you have difficulty locating this information. This feature is a communications protocol standard for embedding small amounts of digital information in conventional FM radio broadcasts. It is only available to HD stations (digital). "

So I get RDS info for the 2 HD stations in my area....kind of a waste of money until they add more channels since I don't care for either of the 2 current HD channels. Maybe you'll have better luck in your area.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased with new JVC Radio. Easy Hookup. How can anyone listen to the radio without the optional HD stations? Its just that simple!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased with JVC KW-AVX810. Installed in '05 Mustang. Better reception then stock head unit previously in car. Lots of HD stations in Phoenix area to listen to and the sound quality is noticeably better. Especially for AM stations. Installing this module replaces the built-in tuner option as a source on the head unit.

Since the AVX810 built-in tuner doesn't have RDS adding this module will give you RDS data for analog stations for those stations that broadcast the information (most do in this area) but you can't do genre searches.

Was challenging to find a location to place the tuner box in the Mustang, especially as the unit has no mounting tabs or holes. Eventually found a location behind the supplemental restraint module in the center console stack

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was added to the JVC NX700 Nav/DVD system that I installed in a 2008 Chevy Silverado. Installation was easy, took about 10min. The unit works great when listening to HD radio in my area. Music sounds much better than regular FM.
