An entertainment powerhouse

Choose a source, choose a display color, choose an app — the JVC KW-R910BT gives you all the entertainment options you expect, and more. The symmetrical design looks terrific, while a host of connectivity features make this CD receiver an outstanding travel companion.

With built-in Bluetooth® and a variety of inputs, the KW-R910BT lets you access your digital media in a variety of ways. Play music from your iPhone®, Android™ or music player, or choose from JVC's ever-growing list of compatible apps. You can also plug a thumb drive into the front USB port, hook up your MP3 player to the front AUX input, or pop in a CD.

Awesome with your iPhone®

Once you plug your iPod or iPhone into the USB input, you can use the KW-R910BT's oversized knob and buttons to navigate your entire music library. With your iPhone connected, you can play your Pandora® Internet Radio stations through the receiver, and even skip and rate songs like you do online. The powerful USB port will keep your smartphone charged, even when it's doing several tasks at once.

Of course, you don't have to plug in at all if your iPhone is equipped with Siri® Eyes Free functionality. Just link up and enjoy hands-free control.

This sophisticated receiver also lets you pair two phones at once, so there's no need to choose between your personal and business phones. When a call comes in, the receiver will blink either blue or red, so you'll know at a glance how (or whether!) to answer the call. To answer, just tap the volume knob. And you can search your contacts alphabetically when you want to call someone.

Customize your receiver's appearance with the 3-zone variable color display.

Design your display

If you like your display to look a certain way, you'll love the 3-zone Variable-Color Display. You can choose from over 30,000 options, and even assign three different colors to your controls and the display. Choose your three favorite colors, or make your JVC pay tribute to your favorite sports team – the choice is yours. And if you can't decide, let the receiver cycle through all the colors continually. It's actually a very cool effect!

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The JVC KW-R910BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (version 2.1+EDR), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.5 (Hands Free Profile), OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.3 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC KW-R910BT. See JVC's Bluetooth compatibility chart for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled devices.

Secure Simple Pairing (SSP): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the JVC KW-R910BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. When a paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. You can pair up to five Bluetooth-enabled devices to the JVC  head unit with a maximum of two Bluetooth phones and one Bluetooth audio player connected at one time (but only one can be used at a time).

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication: The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The controls of the KW-R910BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (with mounting bracket) featuring adjustable gain, so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering A Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the head unit's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately or after 1-30 seconds. The KW-R910BT also supports the Call Waiting function, so you can answer another incoming call while suspending the current call you are on. Your compatible cell-phone must also support this feature.
    • Dialing A Number: Using the KW-R910BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:
      • Entering a Phone Number: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 32 digits from the head unit's front-panel rotary dial.
      • Speed Dialing: You can store up to 6 contacts in the memory of this unit for speed dialing.
      • Phone Book: You can dial by using the downloaded phone book. You can download phone book data from your cell phone to the KW-R910BT.You can search through your contacts alphabetically (A-Z) or numerically (0-9). Up to 400 numbers can be stored for each registered cell phone.
      • Call Log: The Call Log is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls (up to 50 each).
      • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply speak into the included microphone.
Note: The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the volume level and noise cancellation of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 10' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone offers an integrated mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash. The external microphone measures 0.525" (diameter) x 1.505" (depth).

SMS: If your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone is compatible with SMS (Short Message Service), the JVC head unit will notify you when a message has been received. You must then use your phone to check the message. You cannot read, edit, or send a message through this unit.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ Metadata Display): The JVC KW-R910BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The KW-R910BT will be able to control basic playback functions of your Bluetooth device's stored music; such as Play/Pause, Skip Next/Previous, Fast Forward/Rewind and Random/Repeat. The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title. The KW-R910BT also supports audio streaming of music apps downloaded on your smartphone with metadata display and limited control. Advanced music control of your music apps will still need be done via your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Eyes Free Control: When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S or 5/5C/5S via Bluetooth (not USB), the JVC KW-R910BT has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel control and external microphone. Simply press the "phone command" button on theKW-R910BT to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the head unit and its microphone. The head unit will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the KW-R910BT; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).

Note: You can ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone 4S/5/5C/5S. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Your compatible Android smartphone must be recognized as a USB mass storage class device; not compatible with MTP protocol.
    • Drive Change Mode: When an Android smartphone is connected to the USB input terminal, you can select its internal memory or external memory (such as an microSD card) to playback the songs stored on the phone or on the memory card. This feature is also compatible with other USB mass storage class compliant smartphones, such as Blackberry.

iPod/iPhone Connectivity w/ DAC Bypass: The JVC KW-R910BT's front-panel USB port can acts as an iPod/iPhone high-speed direct connection when used with the Lightning or Dock cable that came with your iPod/iPhone. The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's stored music and music apps to be loaded instantly to the head unit and sound quality to be maximized through the head unit's 16-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 105dB. The KW-R910BT's USB connection also offers music navigation, information display, and charging of select iPod/iPhone models from the JVC in-dash head unit. The contents of a Playlist or Category can be searched alphabetically (A-Z) or numerically (0-9). You'll also be able to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track) from select music apps streamed to your iPhone. • iPod/iPhone Mode: The iPod/iPhone Mode lets you control your older iPod/iPhone (iOS 5.1.1 and earlier) from its clickwheel or touchscreen. You'll still have access to basic playback controls (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) from the head unit, but advanced navigation functions will be locked. No song/artist information is displayed in this mode. The unit will simply display "iPhone Mode".
Note: The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position. Audio Section

16 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KW-R910BT utilizes a 16-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The JVC KW-R910BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KW-R910BT are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)
Note: When you are using the KW-R910BT with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

2.5V/4CH Preamp Output: The KW-R910BT is equipped with two pair of 2.5V preamp outputs (Front, Rear/SW). You can set the Rear/SW preamp outputs for connecting a pair of full-range rear speakers (through an external amplifier) or for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When set for rear speakers, the rear outputs operate with the unit's fader control. When set for subwoofer, the outputs are non-fading.

Subwoofer Controls: When the unit's Rear/SW preamp output is set to Subwoofer, you can set the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter at 55Hz, 85Hz, or 120Hz. You can also adjust the head unit's subwoofer level between -8 and +8 (separate from the main volume level).

Pro EQ: The KW-R910BT is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 12 preset sound modes (Flat, Hard Rock, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Talk, vocal Boost, Bass Boost, Classical, Dance, User 1, or User 2) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 3-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

    Pro EQ
    Frequency Level Q
    Bass 60, 80, 100, 200 Hz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.75, 1.0, 1.25
    Treble 10.0, 12.5, 15.0, 17.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) Fixed
Note: You can store Pro EQ bass, middle and treble tone settings for each source (CD, AM/FM, Aux, USB, iPod, Pandora/iHeart Radio).

Sound Enhancements: The head unit provides further sound enhancements for your car audio system.

    • Digital Track Expander: The digital Track Expander utomatically enhances compressed music files and restores the original richness of the recording.
    • Bass Boost: The unit's Bass Boost enhances low bass frequencies.
    • Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can set this feature to High, Low, or Off.
    • Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

Key Beep: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    Display Features

3 Zone Variable Color: The head unit's variable color illumination is separated into 3 Zones (Zone 1, Display Zone, and Zone 2). The KW-R910BT offers 29 color presets and custom colors for each of these zones. You can choose one of these color presets or select the ColorFlow mode which scrolls through all 29 color presets. Additionally, there is a User preset, allowing you to individually adjust the intensity of Red, Green, and Blue from 0 to 31; resulting in approximately 30,000 custom color options. You can choose to use the same color for all 3 Zones, or use a different color for each separate Zone.

    • Zone 1: Zone 1 consists of the rotary knob and the push buttons around the knob, plus the Aux and USB input.
    • Display Zone: The Display Zone consists of the front-panel LCD.
    • Zone 2: Zone 2 consists of the Preset buttons and eject button.

Lighting Effects + Color Guide: You can select a preset color change pattern/speed for all 3 Zones (Zone 1, Display Zone, and Zone 2). Choose from Spectrum, Groove, Techno, Emotion, Relax, and Night Sweep. When activated, the Color Guide mode changes the display and all button illumination to white when menu settings or music list search are performed.

Brightness & Dimmer Control: The unit offers a daytime and nighttime brightness setting for the LCD, button, and USB input terminal. You can adjust the brightness level of each zone manually from 0-31. The unit's dimmer control can be set automatically or manually; select "Off" for daytime brightness setting, "On" for nighttime brightness setting, or "Auto" which switches between day and nighttime brightness setting automatically when you turn off/on the headlights (orange/white wire of harness must be connected to headlamp circuit).

Day & Time: The unit displays a 12-or 24-hour clock, as well as the day (Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri/Sat). The day & time can be selected to remain on, even if the head unit is switched off (as long as the vehicle's key is in the accessory or start position).

Demo Mode: This unit features a Demo mode which can be turned On or Off within the menu.

2-DIN Chassis: The JVC KW-R910BT has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double-DIN"), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets. There is no mounting sleeve included for a Euro- or Custom-mount installation. As always, please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to verify fit with your vehicle.

    Remote Control

Smart Music Control App (for Android): JVC's Smart Music Control App lets you view the current status and perform simple gesture or voice control of the JVC head unit from your Bluetooth-paired Android smartphone (2.3+). The Smart Music Control App uses Bluetooth to communicate between your Android smartphone and the CD receiver. The head unit will auto connect to the Smart Music Control app when your Smartphone is in range. The Smart Music Control app is specifically designed for easy gesture control or voice command operation while driving, so driver and passenger can access information with ease from the Android Smartphone. With the Smart Music Control App, passenger and driver can check current playing song details or other car stereo information.

    • Information Display: The JVC Smart Music Control App will display the head unit's source information, such as song/artist information and station identification. In addition, it provides EQ info.
    • Gesture Control: The JVC Smart Music Control App lets you use finger gesture commands on your Android smartphone to control the playback of the JVC head unit. This type of gesture control is designed to operate the JVC head unit from your smartphone without having to look at your smartphone. Gesture control operations include Finger tap, Finger hold, Finger click, Finger swipe (right/left/up/down), and Finger curve (right/left/up/down).
    • Voice Command: The JVC Smart Music Control App also lets you operate certain head unit function by voice commands. Voice commands include - Change Source, Search for Song/Artist/Album, Previous/Next Track, Repeat/Random, or Preset Select.

Wireless Remote Control: The KW-R910BT comes supplied with a wireless remote control (RM-RK52). The remote contains Attenuator, Sound, Source, Tracking, and Volume functions. The remote operates off of a single CR2025 3V Lithium-cell battery (included).

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.

What do I need to make this work with Sirius xm radio?
    dara  Mar 19, 2016
    1 answer

This stereo does not offer any satellite radio capability so there is no option for controlling and displaying the service on this unit. You can add a "Dock & Play" tuner package to your dash or console and connect it's audio output to the auxiliary audio input on the JVC: http://www.crutchfield.com/g_250150/Dock-and-Play-Satellite-Radios.html?tp=85 This way, you can display and control the service on the external tuner but hear it play through your JVC stereo and speakers. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

After the initial setup, it takes maybe 10-15 seconds for the unit to initialize and recognize my phone. I start the car, roll down the drive way, and by the time I'm at the end of the block it's connected. There are random times where it won't see the phone and I'll recycle the power on the JVC, then it finds it. Overall it works just fine in terms of syncing.

Can I answer my phone (via bluetooth) with the remote control? Or do I have to push buttons on the head unit?
    michael  Nov 21, 2015

You can answer an incoming call from the head unit's front-panel controls, from the phone itself or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately or after 1-30 seconds. The included wireless remote contains Attenuator, Sound, Source, Tracking, and Volume functions, but you wouldn't be able to answer the phone from the remote.

What antenna? If there is a problem w a power antenna I would research similar problems w your automobile model or pull the radio out and use wire nuts for connections . I suspect that like many DIY installers the twist and tape method may have been utilized which fails rather quickly.

I have this unit, but can't seem to get music playback from USB Thumb Drives or CDs loaded with music files. All of my files are WMA Lossless, which I know is too high of a bit-rate, so I converted them to one of the unit's acceptable file types, but still no playback. Do I need to load them onto the USB drive/CD-R in a certain way (Sync, copy & paste, etc)? Any ideas on what to do or some limits I am missing?

I have an iPhone 6 and it paired just fine. And the Bluetooth works great. It is slightly limited in how many devices it will pair. I believe it is 3. The biggest problem I have with the receiver is being able to see the display in bright light conditions and sometimes it will come on and the sound won't work until it is turned off and then turned back on, otherwise it is a great receiver. Hope this helps.

I'm having trouble syncing my iPhone 5 through Bluetooth. The unit recognizes my phone, it says it's paired, then it disconnects. When I try to link it again, it says the the JVC can't be found and make sure it's turned on. I've tried updating the firmware for the unit, even resetting the unit. Everything else with the unit works fine. Any suggestions?

TRy restarting your phone if you haven't already. My Android had the same issue occasionally. The other thing to check is to make sure your phone software is up to date. Once I updated my software it worked fine. It also had to be done with my mom's iPhone 5s to make it work right. I hope this helps.

Yes. It'll pick up anything that you play through your phone with Bluetooth. It will let you skip on spotify using the next button on the faceplate as well.
    jared mykal  May 31, 2015

Once paired and making a call or utilizing some other data from your phone you will have either the option (making a call) to exclude the JVC or have to make a selection of input sources on the JVC. Whatever you stream to the JVC will be paused if you need to make or accept a call. I am not sure if there is a specific Spotify option on any head units like there is for rhapsody, pandora, sirius, and xfm. Your question looks like you want to stream music on your phone and not the head unit (why?) Your phone can be paired for calls and not linked for the other things it does like streaming and playing stored data (music files or pod casts).
    james l  May 31, 2015

Yes. You can select which Bluetooth interface you want to use or if you are using wired headphones you can do that. It takes a little getting use to but I use my phone through Bluetooth ear buds and/ or the stereo. It is very easy to use.

Do I need an amplifier for sub's? I see there is an amplifier already in the unit.
    kyle  Mar 20, 2015
    6 answers
    A
Yes you do. The built-in amp in the radio is only there to power your door and dash speakers. If you use it to power your subs, you'll literately have no music at all. Just some strange sounding noise coming out of your subs. Because subs require so much more power and operate way better under "low" frequency, an amplifier is highly recommended. Use the RCA outputs on the back of the radio for your subwoffers low frequency connection. Make sure you watch a video on how to install an amplifier if this is your first time as you could do some serious damage to your car and radio if wired incorrectly.

You can answer calls in any mode and you can charge your phone in any mode as long as it is plugged into the USB port. The bluetooth has custom settings to create better audio reception. I haven't played around much with it yet, most people indicate the sound is fine.

Yes! I have an iPhone 5c and it works! I just installed this radio 4 days ago. Plugged in my phone to usb and it worked flawlessly. However, setting up bluetooth was a bit of a trick for me. I'm not bluetooth savy, you see. I had to play around with it for a while but it works now. The problem was while it was pairing it would connect and then immediately say "not connected". Eventually I tried pushing the knob on the radio prior to pressing ok on my phone to pair, and it worked. So yes, it iPhone 5c is compatible with this radio, both usb and bluetooth.

Not quite sure what you want to know. I Iked the one I put in my truck so well I bought another to put in my car. The Bluetooth works well with or without it plugged into the USB port. It works awesome with my IPod also. It is loaded with options and is the best aftermarket radio I have ever had over the last 40 years and I've had aproxamitly 20 units. Most were Pioner, Clarion, Kenwood. Jeff H.

I am not a professional installer, but I am going to take a stab at this. A couple of things can effect the price. How many hours from start to finish and where you live. For example, in a rural area $50 an hour, 2 hours. $100. Some installer may charge a flat fee of $100. The kits and paperwork that come from Crutchfield make any installation quick and easy. I am looking to get some clarification on using android with this stereo. I have an LG G3, and the main thing I want to do is stream music from it. I know I can use the auxiliary input. Does the usb input support streaming android music? I've heard something about a jvc app, but can I just go to my regular music app and stream via usb? Also, I can I stream music via bluetooth through my regular music app?

I bought a JVC KW-R910BT about a year ago, and I use it every day. I have two android devices that I regularly connect via bluetooth: a Moto-G and a Nexus-7. You can definately stream from any music app via bluetooth. When the unit is set to the "BLUETOOTH" source, it functions just like a set of bluetooth speakers. Whatever would normally come out of your the internal speaker (or the headphone jack) on your Android device is going to come through the JVC KW-R910BT. Not sure about the USB connection (I never use it), but I'll test it and get back to you!

The usb input does work with Android. I have used it with my Samsung Galaxy S4. If you are using iHeart it does require the iheart JVC app which is in the Play Store for free. Pandora works fine without it. The main way I stream my music though i via Bluetooth. It comes through nice and clear and the head unit allows me tho thumbs up/down and skip music without touching my phone. I can also hear the gps directions when my phone is connected to bluetooth and I am streaming music. The music pauses and the gps voices speaks just like a factory system with navigation would. iHeart requires the app unless you have the unit set for bluetooth audio. But Pandora and iHeart have their own settings on the unit.

Not sure what you mean, but it charges Samsung devices, phone works and every app you play music with it will work 100% once you pair it (via Bluetooth). iHartradio and other embedded futures via USB have mediocre interface and usefulness. You shouldn't worry using android device. Don't forget Apple is the one trying to catch up with android the last 2-3 years.I personally have S4 active and everything is flawless. The system has great call quality as well.

You should be able to use it with AUX source. what is difference between single CD player and in-dash CD changer?
    d rhose  Dec 14, 2014

CD changer allows you to install multiple CDS at one time. The single CD Player only holds one at a time.
    jason  Dec 22, 2014
    A
A single in dash means one CD at a time can go in the radio. A in-dash CD changer will hold more than one disc. Which really isn't a selling point because you are going to hook up your phone,MP3 player, or other device vis USB or BLUETOOTH to these radios.

Well the in dash changer stores 5 CDs to just one with the single
    edward  Dec 15, 2014
    A
A single CD changer only plays 1 disc at a time. An in-dash changer allows you to input multiple discs (say up to 5 or 6) and select which one you would like to play. It keeps you from having to switch out CDs all the time. I have only found them useful on say long trips. But with the invention of Bluetooth and being able to sync your phones music playlist, it is an irrelevant feature anymore.

    edgar  Dec 03, 2014

Nissan products are usually difficult to work on so could take a long time (an hour). The radio itself is easy to install as the instructions are clear and easy. The car specific installation kit has the perfect trim to make the install look factory. Sorry about the slam on Nissan but they do not make any work easy. I imagine the longest part of the job will be taking off parts of the dash and instrument cluster to remove the old radio and then reinstalling the dash parts after making sure the new radio works well. Make sure you use wire nuts to attach your wires. They look like tiny xmas trees or pieces of candy corn. Not every install kit comes with them.

Hi Edgar, I had never performed an audio install myself until I purchased my unit from Crutchfield. The supplied instructions are brain-dead simple. From start to finish - even if you are going really slow and being super anal about things - shouldn't be much more than an hour and a half at the most. You will spend more time removing your old factory unit than you will putting this in.

I installed this on a 2004 Toyota Sienna and it was very straightforward. The only issue i had was installing the trim plate on the radio before installing in the dash. The trim plate (including specifically for the Toyota) had screws that were not quite long enough to go through the plastic trim into the radio itelf. If it hadn't been for that, installation would have taken maybe 30-45 minutes. Most of that time was connection the radio harness to teh adapter harness -- not hard at all (it's all color coded), just a number of wires to connect. Once that harness is connected, actually installing in the dash is very simple.

My husband and I worked together to install the phone in our niece's Altima. We followed the directions and even installed the harness so her radio buttons on the steering wheel. It was a little tricky (I think it took about 2 hours) but we got the job done and my niece is head over heals happy with her new radio.

Thanks James I found my problem the mic was plug in the wrong jack in the back of the radio. My fault the installer didn't see the mic so I did it my self and plug it in the wrong jack. So I call Support and they told me which jack 2 use Again thanks james.

As I understand your question, the mic is not working. First, power off the radio and re-pair your phone and radio then try to make a call. Sometimes the electronic gremlins just jack with us. If this does not reactivate the mic then you will have to tear down your dash and check the mic plug. Make sure it is pushed in all the way. If it is, the next step is to trace the mic cord and search for damage that may have happened during or after install. If you find and fix a problem make sure the mic works before putting your dash back together. You may need a replacement mic or head unit and the fewer times you have to take your car apart the better. Good luck.

I have the old iPhone 4 and all I do to answer a call is press, and hold for a second, the large center dial. I sometimes have trouble with the amount of time you should hold the dial down, so adjust accordingly. You should now be able to use the mic and speaker system. The large dial will also control the speaker volume for you call. Hope this helps.
    monty  Dec 03, 2014

Make sure your mic is installed and connected properly to the back of the receiver. Also double check your phone settings. During a call make sure you have the Bluetooth headset icon checked. That will transfer the call to the Bluetooth connection, which is your stereo. Hope that helps.

Chase, it really depends on the car or truck you are installing into. But with that said it was a VERY easy install and it shouldn't take but 20 minutes to install. Crutchfield is really good at getting the proper kit and adapter plugs you need.
    william  Jul 29, 2014

Installation time will depend on your comfort level with car audio installation. For me it took about an hour to install this receiver including soldering all wire connections. My entire installation also included installing a Sound Ordinance Sub-Woofer under one of my seats as well as an adapter to maintain steering wheel controls. This took additional time on top of the time to install the receiver. Oh, and don't make the mistake I made when I forgot to connect the microphone for the Bluetooth. That added another 20 to 30 minutes. Good luck!

I always pre-solder and electrical tape up all the wires prior to plugging the connectors now all in to the factory harness (no cutting). So looking at the radio info and then not cut connector sheet takes the longest getting it correct . . . maybe half an hour to hour here. Then pulling off all the panels and putting in the unit took half an hour time - very fast when you use all the stuff from Crutchfield!
    eric  Jul 29, 2014

I put one in back in April, and it was fairly easy. However, it is going to depend on what car you're installing it in to and if you've ever done a head unit install before. This was my third, and so I knew what I was getting in to. My first install took a few hours. This one probably took an hour start to finish, and I installed a steering wheel control adapter, which complicates things. But Crutchfield will supply you with the necessary adapters, wiring harnesses and instructions, which helps a ton.

I have not installed mine yet as my truck is being painted. However I have installed stereos before and it is not very hard. The hardest part is figuring out how to take apart your dash without breaking anything. Youtube can sometimes help. The free install kit from Crutchfield makes it pretty simple. You can play Pandora via Bluetooth or via the cable to your iPhone or iPod but the quality of the sound is going to depend on the signal/connectivity/bandwidth to the closet cell tower. So when you have good signal/connectivity/bandwidth Pandora will sound great and when you have a weak signal Pandora is not going to sound good.

On my Chevy truck I had to use the special harness to benefit from the bose sound system so I would not cut any corners if u want it to be right and look right. I doubt its the radio. The power should be pretty consistent from the radio, check all your wires. Could be a short or a loose wire. Check all crimps and connections. One thing I found too is theres a db boost option in the settings too you might fiddle with. My BT needed increased some. It was much quieter than USB.

Bailey On the Ford Mustang Mach audio system you have 4 factory powered amps that are ohm rated too low for the after market JVC radio. The bass is good in the JVC but the 4x6 speakers in the Mustang cannot handle the output of the JVC correctly. You can also make sure you dont have the speakers cross-phased...this will kill the bass completely and make your speaker sound blown. Your best bet is to upgrade to the baseline Kicker 4x6's. I out them in my wife's Ford Edge and the difference was amazing. I hope this helps. Thanks Mike K

My JVC puts out plenty of bass, the problem may be the integration with your Mach system. I bypassed the Toyota factory amp completely; the JVC unit works better without it. Hope you get it solved, -Lynn

This unit allows up to five Bluetooth devices to be registered (paired) in total. A maximum of two Bluetooth phones and one Bluetooth audio device can be connected at any time. (Instruction Manual, p. 11) My question: When more than one device is connected, can I choose the one I want? Or do I have to disconnect the unwanted Bluetooth audio source(s)? I'd hate to have to disconnect my iPhone just so my son can play his iPod over BT Audio... I've had this head unit installed for a week now and I'm well pleased. Apart from this issue, my only other concerns are (1) Power antenna goes up whenever the unit is on, whether listening to FM radio or not. (Easily overcome by installation of a toggle switch.) (2) The two sets of bars that are constantly moving back and forth. Wish there was a setting to disable them. (From what I read online, there is no solution to this short of JVC providing new firmware.)

My friend of mine daughter always driving with her cellphone and i told him let buy a bluetooth car stereo so she can drive carefully. Since i came here in 1987 i always buy and recommend Crutchfield, you can see that in my records. I hope you understand my reply. Thanks and keep up the good works. Amado

I can't specifically speak to your Acadia, but there is a video on the Crutchfield site I believe, that demonstrates why it might not fit. Basically, your radio may be "double din" appearing on the face, but actually is not behind the face. The video that I watched showed that some are double din in the front, but as it goes into the dash it is actually either single din or "din and 1/2". Basically it could be that the radio in your Acadia has a step down in the back of it that will not actually allow a double din to fit. On my Sierra the radio that came out was truly double din and not stepped down.

I don't have an Acadia, but after doing a quick search online it looks like their radios are actually larger than the JVC unit because it looks like the faceplate extends past the 2DIN area. So without actually having one here to physically inspect, that would be my best guess. Or, it may just be that nobody has designed the mounting brackets for this JVC for the Acadia yet. Good luck.

John, I have an android system but I'm sure it will work the same with an Iphone. The answer is yes. When I get in the car and fire up the radio, it links with my phone and i can then select BT from the source button and it will play the music I have stored on my phone via Bluetooth. The other cool thing is you can get a 32gb memory stick for a few bucks and put hundreds of cds on it and plug it in the USB port and have all your music right there. and it sounds great with multiple EQ settings including custom settings you can set to your own liking.

Yes. My iPhone works perfectly using the BT Audio source setting. Once you pair your phone with the unit, you can listen to music. If the phone rings it will interrupt the song and the phone audio will play over the speakers. The only advantage that plugging it into the USB port in front gives you is the ability to keep it charged.

I am planning on getting this product but I wanted to see if the following setup is possible with this JVC receiver: I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone and I'm planning on connecting it to this JVC receiver and my Bluetooth headset (for privacy) at the same time. I will be using the Phone profile for my headset and the Media profile for the JVC receiver. For the JVC reciver, I'd like to *control* it via Bluetooth connection (using the controls on the JVC receiver) but *listen* to the audio via AUX out for better quality. Is this possible?

Hi Lawrence, For the audio I agree. I looked at the user manual and it seems If my smartphone pairs and connects to the receiver regardless of what audio output is selected, I might be able to send playback commands from the buttons on the receiver to the phone with the source audio selection set to AUX. In fact, that would be a good idea to get quality audio with convenient controls. The worst case is you would have to be in "BT Audio" mode for both audio and BT remote control and that means I can't have my ideal setup. I am getting it installed tomorrow so I'll let you guys know.

My guess is if you plug the phone in via a cable you will have to select which input to use on the radio as source Bluetooth or aux in.

If I understand correctly you are using your phone fro your source music and want to use the audio out on the deck to listen. At the same time you want your phone calls to be routed through your bluetooth headset that will be linked to your phone. (odd picture in my mind having all that on your head) . The only tech problem I see is with your phone. As I understand it, we humans, may only have ONE bluetooth connection at a time. A connection to the deck OR a connection to the headset. If your phone will connect to two bluetooth devices at once this will work. The headset, if recognized, could be paired to the deck. I do not see an OUTPUT for transmission to a device for bluetooth in the operation manual. So, if you want the bluetooth privacy and want to listen to your music with a headset for better sound then it will have to be with just your phone. If you want to use the deck and the AUX output to a headset (which is illegal) you can set up phone bluetooth to the deck. This will play your music from your phone and output to your AUX headset. When a call happens or you want to make a call your music will be paused and you can use voice command or the deck buttons to scroll your menu and call. I do not believe the deck will transmit OUT to a bluetooth receiver except during a call. Ten devices may be paired to the deck with two active at a time. The buttons on the deck will control your phone for making and receiving calls and playing music. Hope this long aXX answer helps.

No the display does not dim with the headlights on, however, it is not distracting to me at all. The colors are light and I have mine where it changes from one color to the other and it still does not distract me when I'm driving. You can put it on one of the light colors without the color rotation like I have mine on and I don't think it will be distracting to you. I just love this radio. It's great. I hope this helps.

I haven't been able to find a way for the radio to begin playing as soon as the bluetooth connection is made; I have to un-pause it, just as Willie describes. Hi Willie - I have just bought this radio - I used the bluetooth just for set up of my phone connection (and set it to the JVC Unit) - When a call comes in and I am listening to either Radio, CD or AUX (i have satellite hooked up) - the radio automatically pauses, and I can answer the phone. Once the call has ended, it goes back to playing. I do not leave my stereo on bluetooth for the outsource.

Hi Willie, It seems that is a standard process with this radio. I bought one this model few days ago and I have to do the same thing you are saying in order to have the music play back again. We may contact JVC company. If you get solutions for this issue please let me know.

Sometimes smartphones pause apps like Pandora when the connection is not directly connected with a USB cable. You may not notice the problem if you are streaming content from your phone's stored music library. In Wifi, you are only using the front speaker channels, which you may or may not have noticed. Using a USB cable will give you front and rear and you won't have the paused issue, and your phone will charge - so it may be a matter of function over convenience. I have two different Wifi enabled car stereos, including the JVC KW-R910BT, and it's the same with both. The specifications / description never tell you exactly how the head unit will work with any given phone, but the manual gives a little more information. Also, many stereos say made for iPhone, but are really designed for Androids. My Kenwood streams via bluetooth from an iPhone, my JVC does not - but I plug them both in for front and rear channels, so it's not a huge deal for me.

Willie. I'm not sure if this will help or not since I only use my Bluetooth connection to play Pandora. If pandora app is open on my phone "paused or playing" and pandora is set as the "source" on the radio when I turn the car on, then once the Bluetooth actually connects it auto starts the music. I have not tried it using any other music source. Hope this helps.

Can the unit be programed to display the time while the radio or a source is playing?

Also, while talking on the phone with bluetooth you only see the word "TALKING" and cannot even change the display at all. This is extremely annoying. It would be nice to be able to see what time it is while on the phone.

Yes,it can display date & time plus scroll song info. I bought this a month ago-so far very pleased with it.

Yes you can push display at anytime to cycle through the different display modes one of which is the clock. Unfortunately you cannot set it to return to the time display automatically if you switch to one of the other modes. It will switch back to the time if it switches the display on its own for a moment. This is very frustrating for me as I would like a little more control. One other note: there is no display mode to see the artist and song name together. You have to choose between album name/artist or song name only.

Have not been able to get clock to display so far. Radio linked to vehicle clock so it knows the time...just doesn't display it.

I am not going to be much help for you. I'm still trying to figure out the radio. My daughter in law set the clock for me and it is showing the time. How she did it I'm not sure. I am still reading my user book to try and learn everything about the radio. Sorry.

Yes. You can push the display button multiple times for different displays, including one with the present time, the song, the artist, and/or the station or source.

Yes, once you program the time you can change what is showing on the display. I like having my clock showing as well so once I get my music set I press the display button and get the time showing so I do not have to look at my phone while driving.

Yes, if you hit "DISP" it will display day time (you may need to toggle through a few untiil you get it). Then when you change stations or anything, it will scroll through a few information screens then default back to the day and time.

Honestly -I am not sure. The instruction from JVC are lacking. You do have the ability to set the clock. You can toggle thru the different displays. I am still trying to get the display to stay one constant color without flashing all the time. The presets for FM 6-18 - have not gotten toggle over to those stations figured out yet. The Bluetooth & ipod features work great that mainly why bought this unit for listening to audible books. I hope that helps out.

Can you pick a single color for the display instead of the rainbow/multi-color option? Also, can you select the button & knob accent colors independently of the LED display color?

There are 3 different color zones. Each is adjustable independently. Lower zone, upper zone and display. Yes, you can make all lights the same color if you like. The android app for this radio is pretty cool too. My wife loves it.

Yes you can pick a different color from three different areas of the deck. The top part, the bottom part with the knob and buttons and you can choose the color of the display screen. Unfortunately you can not individually pick the color of the knob or the buttons around.

I bought this unit about 2 weeks ago, and I am very pleased with it. The answer to both of your questions is yes. The display is divided into three sections, and you can configure each of them to the color of your choice. In the picture the unit is configured green/light blue with purple for the display, and you can see a kind of color fading effect between the green and light blue sections. If switched it to green/green with a purple display the color fade effect would disappear. Of course, there are many more color options than green, light blue and purple for each section.

Hello Jon b, I recently purchased this radio and I can tell you it's a rather nice one. In regards to your question about the display color, you can choose specific colors. However, the select and knob accents cannot be changed separately. You can choose two seperate colors between the top half and bottom. For instance, you can have blue on top and white on bottom. Hope this helped Alex K

I just bought this a week ago and love it. Yes and yes to answer your questions. You can set the color independently of each zone or all one color, so the display, preset buttons and knob can all be the same color or different. There are 29 colors. I was looking at another brand in the same price range and one common complaint on the reviews with the other brand was you could not dim the display, so at night it was too bright. This is not the case with this stereo. There are 31 dimmer settings, you can also set to "night" or "day". Another cool display setting is light displays which cycles through colors at different speeds to create a "light show", if you don't want just one permanent color. For the price and features, I definitely recommend it.

Yeah there are 4 zones you can configure. You can do them all custom or just one or 2 colors. You can also set different colors for day and night (whenever the headlights are on)

There are 3 color zones (screen, left & right, and lower middle) on this radio and they can be set to the same colors. I'm very happy with it so far. Outstanding hands free calling feature even while driving 75mph it is clear

There are 3 zones on the player. You can set each zone to a different color if you like. Or they have preset colors to choose from. It is a really cool feature. U an also set your color display to the effects of being daytime and nighttime. And the way the player distinguishes the day and night is by your headlights, wether they are on or off. That is another cool feature. And yes you can set the color for the buttons and knob to be different than the led display. I'm super happy with this player couldn't ask for anything better for this kind of price.

Yes you can set it for a single color...the multi color is just for demo mode.

After reviewing the diagram and redoing the wiring, if you connect the orange/white wires, yes. You should be able to see the day of the week and the time, when the unit is turned off.

    A
2.5V/4CH Preamp Output: The KW-R910BT is equipped with two pair of 2.5V preamp outputs (Front, Rear/SW).
