Looking for a car stereo that you can operate like your iPhone? The JVC Arsenal KW-V820BT DVD receiver includes Apple CarPlay® which lets you control many of your iPhone functions directly from its 6.8" Active Touch Control monitor. You'll also enjoy a ton of media options, like Pandora® and SiriusXM, as well as sound-shaping controls to refine your sound. And JVC backs up this receiver with a 2-year warranty.

Apple CarPlay®

CarPlay integrates your iPhone into the driving experience in a seamless interface, putting iPhone content at the driver's fingertips with minimal distraction. That means easy access to your music library, audiobooks, phone, messages, navigation, and many third-party streaming music apps, too. Learn more at www.apple.com/ios/carplay.

Go wireless with Bluetooth®

Bluetooth enables wireless streaming for music, podcasts, and audiobooks, along with the convenience of hands-free phone calls. This JVC lets you quickly switch between two paired phones — handy for vehicles with more than one driver. You can install the included wired microphone close to you, so callers can hear you loud and clear. You'll also get voice control when pairing an iPhone with Siri.

Whole lot of radio going on

If you enjoy Internet radio on your iPhone® or Android™, you'll really dig playing music from Pandora and Spotify on this receiver. And you iPhone users can now tune into Apple Music for even more variety. If you're looking for radio stations that won't fade away when you drive out of town, add a SiriusXM tuner to this JVC to enjoy satellite radio's deep programming from coast to coast. The KW-V820BT also includes a sensitive AM/FM tuner to catch all your local stations too.

More media options

And when it's time to play your own music, this receiver also offers a DVD/CD player, a rear aux input for a portable music player, and a rear USB port that can handle your MP3, WMA, and WAV music files, as well as the music stored on your iPhone or Android. The display will show video when you're parked, and you can also feed video to optional screens you can add for your backseat crew.

User-friendly touchscreen controls provide quick access to all your media.

Settings for sight and sound

Once you've picked your tunes, you can tweak your sound by using a huge array of sound-sculpting controls, including a 13-band graphic equalizer and digital time alignment. JVC's K2 technology helps bring back the depth and detail for all your digital music sources. Because most car speakers are located down low in the doors, this receiver also offers Sound Lift, which adjusts your music's frequencies to virtually "raise" your speakers for better, more natural imaging.

Three pairs of hot 4-volt RCA preamp outputs provide an ultra-clean signal when it's time to add amplifiers to your system. JVC also includes variable color illumination and a customizable layout for the display, letting you pick the look that works in your dash.

iDatalink Maestro lets you keep your factory extras

The KW-V820BT offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (not included).

  • Ford SYNC systems: you'll be able to retain voice-controlled features, steering wheel audio controls, and factory audio functions
  • GM vehicles: you'll keep your steering wheel audio controls, your factory amp, safety warning chimes, and OnStar
  • Chrysler: you'll keep all your Uconnect functionality
  • Toyota: you'll keep your factory amplifer, auxiliary and USB inputs, rear-view camera, and steering wheel audio controls
  • Volkswagen: you'll retain the factory Bluetooth, the factory digital amplifier and fader, plus VW's media device interface

The iDatalink adapter also lets you tap into your vehicle's diagnostic port, so you can check out expanded functionality including gauges, climate controls, a distance sensor, and tire pressure monitor on the JVC's screen.

Note: JVC has confirmed that at this time this receiver will work with the iDatalink Maestro module to retain factory steering wheel controls, but it will NOT retain factory extras such as OEM Bluetooth and satellite radio, Ford Sync, GM OnStar, and Chrysler Uconnect. JVC should have a firmware update available by mid-August through the JVC website which will provide full compatibility with the iDatalink Maestro. Once the firmware update is available, apply it to your JVC receiver for support of factory extras; reflashing the iDatalink Maestro module is not necessary.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Smartphone note: If you're going to use your smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

    Touchscreen + Remote Control

6.8" Touchscreen w/ 6.2" Inset Video Screen: The JVC KW-V820BT DVD receiver features a 6.8" touchscreen with an inset 6.2" video screen, while the most frequently used touchscreen buttons (Home/Voice Screen On/Off, & Volume Up/Down) are highlighted on the left side of the screen. There is only one physical push-button control on the KW-V820BT's front-panel, and that is the Power On/Off button.

    • Clear Resistive Touchscreen: The 6.8" clear resistive touchscreen with high-transparency and high-luminance makes icons easy to see and function easy to use. The clear resistive touchscreen offers better visibility and is more responsive when compared to conventional resistive touchscreen panels.
    • Gesture Control: In addition to basic touch control, the 6.8" touchscreen offers Gesture Control features which let you operate certain functions of the head unit by making specific gesture commands on the unit's touchscreen. You can adjust the volume of the DVD receiver by making a circular motion with your finger on the unit's touchscreen. You'll also be able to navigate your music by simply swiping the touchscreen left/right or up/down.
    • Video Screen: The 6.2" video screen has a resolution of 800 (H) x 480 (V) x RGB with 1,152,000 total pixels. While watching a video, you can change the video screen's aspect ratio to Full (16:9), Just (4:3 LB), or Normal (4:3), or Auto (automatically selects to match incoming video signal). You can also adjust the video screen's display brightness, contrast, color, tint, and black level to suit your viewing needs during video playback.
Note: To prevent the display of video while the vehicle is in motion, the light green wire of wiring harness must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. You cannot view video unless your vehicle's parking brake is engaged. If you attempt to view video without the parking brake engaged, the unit's LCD touchscreen will simply display "Parking Off". While your vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view all of the head unit's menu screens/settings, source information, metadata, and album artwork, as well as CarPlay.

El Kameleon Design: The KW-V820BT features JVC's El Kameleon "stealth" design which totally blacks out the 6.8" touchscreen and 6.2" inset video screen when the head unit is powered off or your vehicle is turned off; there is no backlit illumination at all when the receiver or vehicle is off. There is still a JVC and SiriusXM logo, plus the KW-V820BT's model number on the front-panel.

Display Settings: You can make the following adjustments to the head unit's touchscreen display to better fit your application and needs.

    • Custom Home Screen & Backgrounds: You can customize the head unit's Home Screen by rearranging the icons and moving the icons of the four most sources you use most to this screen. You can also choose between nine preset background images or download your own still image (800 x 480) for use as the unit's background from a connected USB thumbdrive.
    • Variable Color Illumination: The touchscreen panel's color and button illumination can be changed to one of eight preset colors - blue, red, green, yellow, orange, purple, pink, or aqua. You can also choose to have the unit constantly scroll through all eight preset color. In addition, you can create a custom color using a combination (0-31) of red, green, and blue.
    • Clock Display: The DVD receiver offers a 12-hour clock which is visible from any source or menu screen. With your vehicle's key in the accessory or start position, the head unit will continue to display the LCD background image, clock, and button illumination during "AV Off" mode. Pressing and holding the Power button turns the unit off completely.
    • Dimmer: When the illumination lead (orange/white) is connected and the dimmer set to Auto, the display will dim automatically when you turn on your vehicle's lights. The dimmer can also be set to Off (normal brightness at all times), On (display is always dimmed), or Sync (dims or brightens when the headlight switch is turned on or off).

Remote Control: The JVC KW-V820BT offers compatibility with factory steering wheel controls (adapter sold separately) and comes with an wireless remote control (RM-RK258) for added convenience.

    • IR: The JVC KW-V820BT includes an IR remote control for wireless operation of the DVD receiver, including Bluetooth hands-free communication.
    • Steering Wheel Controls: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).

2-DIN Chassis: KW-V820BT has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double-DIN"), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets. There is no mounting sleeve included for a Euro- or Custom-mount installation.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth 3.0: The JVC KW-V820BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (version 3.0), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC KW-V820BT. Check here for the latest Bluetooth compatibility information.

Multi-Device Pairing w/ Dual Phone Connection: You can pair up to ten Bluetooth-enabled devices to the JVC head unit. You can even connect two phones full-time via Bluetooth. Calls to either phone can be received by a push of a key on the head unit (music can only be played back from one device at a time). When a paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

    • Secure Simple Pairing (SSP): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the JVC KW-V820BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings.
    • Auto Pairing (for iPhone):  You can even pair your Apple iPhone by simply connecting it to the JVC head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display.

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. Thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the JVC KW-V820BT provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The touchscreen controls of the KW-V820BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (featuring adjustable gain), so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers (All or Front only). During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering A Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the head unit's touchscreen, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately (1-30 seconds).
    • Dialing A Number: Using the KW-V820BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:
      • Enter Phone #: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 31 digits from the head unit's touchscreen.
      • Preset Dialing: Allows you to register up to 5 phone numbers for quick dialing. The preset numbers can be accessed from the head unit's touchscreen.
      • Phonebook: You can download phonebook data (up to 1000 entries) from your cell phone to the KW-V820BT. You can then use the head unit's touchscreen to dial a contact from the downloaded phone book. You can search the phone book alphabetically.
      • Call History: The Call History is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls (up to 50 total).
      • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply press the voice control button on the head unit's touchscreen and speak into the included microphone.
Note: This unit allows you to answer a call or dial out using any option without engaging the vehicle's parking brake.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The JVC KW-V820BT supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or audio player, plus song/artist information display. You are able to stream your stored music library on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, as well as music apps downloaded on your smartphone to the JVC KW-V820BT for playback.

    • SBC + AAC Codecs: In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the KW-V820BT offers support of AAC. By supporting AAC, the KW-V820BT offers better audio performance of the music streamed from your Apple iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
    • Advanced Music Playback: In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the KW-V820BT lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. (AVRCP 1.5+ phones only; including Android OS 4.0+ & Apple iOS 5.0+).
    • Song/Artist Information: The head unit will also display your stored music and music app's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (not compatible with all apps).
Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Eyes Free Control: When paired to an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth, the JVC KW-V820BT has the ability to access Siri through its touchscreen controls and external microphone. Simply press the "phone command" button on the KW-V820BT to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the head unit and its microphone. You can even ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Bluetooth; the head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the KW-V820BT; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).
    iPhone Integration w/ CarPlay

Apple CarPlay Compatible: Your iPhone must be connected to the JVC receiver via the Lightning-cable that came with your Apple device or JVC's KS-U62 Lightning/USB interface cable (105KSU62, sold separately). CarPlay features Siri voice control and is specially designed for driving scenarios. It also works with the JVC receiver's touchscreen controls.

    • Maps: The power and simplicity of Apple Maps comes to your dashboard; complete with turn-by-turn direction, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. You can enter a new destination or choose a favorite or recent destination using the head unit's touchscreen or by simply asking Siri. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars.
    • Phone & Messages: You'll be able to make calls, return missed calls, and listen to voicemails through the JVC receiver. Siri can also help you do all these things. In addition, Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages for you; so you never have to look at your iPhone while driving.
    • Music Library: Access your artists, song, playlists, and iTunes Radio on your iPhone using the JVC receiver's touchscreen. Or, just tell Siri what you'd like to listen to. The head unit's touchscreen will display song/artist information, as well as album art in the background.
    • Apps: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you've downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying music, radio, sports, news, podcasts, & audiobooks. Control them from the head unit's touchscreen just like you would from your iPhone. Current supported apps include (fees may apply):
Note: If you need an additional USB extension cable, use Kenwood's CA-U1EX USB extension cable (113CAU1EX, sold separately). Any other USB extension cable can cause CarPlay to malfunction.

iPod Music Playback: The JVC KW-V820BT supports direct connection of your Lightning iPod/iPhone device or 30-pin iPhone 4S through its rear-panel USB port for music playback. You'll be able to listen to stored music and music apps from your USB connected Apple device through the JVC DVD receiver.

    • Lightning Connector: If you have a newer iPod/iPhone with the Lightning-connector, you can use JVC's KS-U62 Lightning-to-USB cable (105KSU62, sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device to connect your iPod/iPhone to the JVC KW-V820BT for audio playback only.
    • 30-Pin Dock Connector: If you own an older iPhone 4S with the 30-pin dock connector, you can use the dock connector-to-USB cable that comes with your iPhone to connect your device to the JVC DVD receiver for audio playback only.
Note: This unit does not support video playback from any Apple device.

iPod/iPhone Control: The JVC receiver allows you to navigate your iPod/iPhone's music library from its front-panel & touchscreen controls. The head unit offers unique search features like Category Search & Link Search, plus offers basic playback functions like Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track and Repeat/Random of your connected iPod/iPhone. You'll also still be able to control most connected Apple devices from its touchscreen while connected via USB.

    • Category Search: Category Search allows you to navigate your iPod/iPhone's music library by Playlist, Artists, Album, Song, Genre, Song, Podcast, Audiobook, or Radio. You can then search each of these categories using the head unit's touchscreen slider function (categories will be listed in alphabetical order).
    • Link Search: The head unit offers Link Search, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Search lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, a artist list of the currently playing genre, or a album list of currently playing composer.

Song/Artist Info & Album Art: The KW-V820BT will display your iPod/iPhone's stored music information including Track number, Elapsed playing time, Song/Album title, Artist name, and Album art. The unit will also display song/artist info and album art from select music apps.

Battery Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1.5A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position. This unit does not charge the iPad. If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.

Search Functions: The JVC KW-V820BT offers unique search functions for disc & USB playback.

    • List Search: You can search folders & files on a disc or USB device according to hierarchy.
    • Category Search (USB only): You can navigate music stored on your USB memory device by Playlist, Artist, Song, or Album. Once a category is selected, you can search the contents alphabetically.
    • Link Search (USB only): Link Search allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. The head unit can create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, a artist list of the currently playing genre, or a album list of currently playing composer.

Resume: If you change the source, playback also stops (without ejecting the disc or USB device). Next time you select CD or USB for the playback source, the disc will start from where it has been stopped previously.

Auto Reload: If an ejected disc is not removed within 20 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to protect it from dust; playback starts automatically.

    SiriusXM + AM/FM Radio

SiriusXM-Ready: The JVC KW-V820BT is SiriusXM 3.0 Ready and compatible with the SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner (220SXV300, sold separately). The SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner supports SiriusXM programming with access to 175+ SiriusXM channels via subscription; check out the most popular SiriusXM subscription packages here. Additional features of the SiriusXM Connect tuner include:

    • Channel List w/ Category Search: A channel list displays a list of all available channels. The Category Search function searches for channels in a certain category.
    • Song/Artist Info + Album Art: Displayed Information such as Channel Name, Channel Logo, Artist Name, Song Title, & Album Art can be viewed on the head unit's LCD
    • Smart Favorite Presets: Up to 18 SiriusXM Satellite Radio station presets can be saved. Up to 6 of your SiriusXM presets on the current band are recognized as Smart Favorites for advanced features such as TuneStart, TuneScan & TuneMix.
      • TuneStart: TuneStart allows you to choose whether to start a song from the beginning or from its live point when tuning to a Smart Favorite channel.
      • TuneScan: TuneScan plays the first 6 seconds of each song that has not been listened to from each of the channels which you have saved as Smart Favorites.
      • TuneMix: TuneMix plays a unique blend of songs from your Smart Favorite preset music channels from the current SiriusXM preset band, allowing you to build a custom channel from as few as two to as many as six music channels.
    • Instant Replay: You can pause, rewind, and replay up to 60 minutes of current channel. You'll also be able to rewind and replay the last 30 minutes of content from your six Smart Favorite channels.
    • Content Alerts: The head unit will inform you when receiving content on another channel from a registered favorite artist, song, or sports team.
    • Parental Control: Channels containing unsuitable content for children can be blocked.
Note: A separate SiriusXM Satellite Radio subscription is required (operates on the XM Network). However, you can easily add this SiriusXM tuner to an existing Sirius or XM account for a Multi-Radio Discount Plan.

AM/FM Tuner: KW-V820BT features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning. You can store a total of 15 FM stations presets and 5 AM station presets. The radio allows you to set your AM/FM stations manually or automatically. You can activate the monaural mode to improve FM reception, when a station is week (the stereo effect will be lost).

    • RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.
    • US or European Tuning: You can set the built-in AM/FM tuner between US standard and European tuning spacing.
    Audio & DSP Section

High-Resolution Audio Playback: You can enjoy playback of 96kHz/24bit audio which contains about 3 times the musical information of music CDs (44.1kHz/16bit), or even 192kHz/24bit High-Resolution Audio files with their approximate 6.5 times data volume. With high sound quality approaching the original master recording itself, you will experience the presence and ambience of a tune the way CD simply cannot.

MOSFET Amplifier: The JVC KW-V820BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KW-V820BT are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

6ch/4V Preamp Outputs + Sub Control: The KW-V820BT is equipped with 6ch/4.0V preamp outputs (Front, Rear, Subwoofer). The front and rear preamp outputs allow fader control, while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading.  You can adjust the KW-V820BT's subwoofer output level (-50 to +10) independently from the head unit's main volume control for added bass volume. You can also adjust the phase of the subwoofer output between 180-degrees (Reverse) or 0-degrees (Normal).

K2 Technology: K2 is a JVC original technology that reproduces the original master sound by expanding the bit rate and frequency range. K2 is compatible with all sources including CD. For example, K2 will expand the digital data of the audio CD recorded at 44.1kHz/16 bit to 48 kHz/24 bit, and recreate the high-frequency range above 20kHz that is cut during the CD formatting.

Sound Optimization: The JVC KW-V820BT offers a vast array of sound adjustment functions to fine-tune and customize the acoustics of your car stereo system exactly the way you want.

    • Equalizer: Use the JVC head unit's built-in EQ to adjust the sound to your taste. Each frequency of the 13-Band EQ (100Hz, 160Hz, 250Hz, 400Hz, 630Hz, 1kHz, 1.6kHz, 2.5kHz, 4kHz, 6.3kHz, 10kHz, & 16kHz) can be adjusted from -9 to +9. Or, simply choose from one of eight preset sound modes (Flat, Pops, Easy, Top40, Jazz, Powerful, Rock, or User 1-4) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The unit's Volume Link EQ boosts specific frequencies in the audio signal to compensate for the impact of road noise. It boosts frequencies in the music that are affected by road noise.
    • Time Alignment: By selecting the car type, speaker type, and the distance to the center of the listening position, the head unit will automatically adjust the timing of the sound output from each of the speakers so that the sound from each of the speakers will arrive exactly at the same time to the listening position. The Front Focus feature even lets you localize the sound image in front of a selected seat.
    • Sound Effects: The KD-R975BTS offers adjustable Sound Effects to provide a better listening experience inside your vehicle. Use the "Space Enhancement" feature to virtually broaden the soundstage inside your vehicle. Use the "Sound Lift" feature to virtually lift the sound to ear level. And use the "Sound Response" feature to virtually make the sound more realistic and live inside your car.
    • Loudness, Bass Boost & Bass Extension: The Loudness feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. The unit's Bass Boost enhances low bass frequencies at any volume level. There is also a Bass Extension feature which further enhances the unit's bass output.

High Pass & Low Pass Crossovers: Allows you to set high-pass and low-pass crossovers for a Front, Rear, and Subwoofer speaker setup. You can independently customize the high-pass crossover for the front & rear speakers, with a separate low-pass crossover for the sub output.

    • Frequency: Choose between 30Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 70Hz, 80Hz, 90Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 150Hz, 180Hz, 220Hz, 250Hz, or Through (Full-Range).
    • Slope: Select from -6dB, -12dB, -18dB, or -24dB.
    • Gain: Adjustable between -8 to 0 dB.

Volume Offset: The level of each source may be independently adjusted to prevent radical leaps in output volume when switching from one source to another. The available settings range from -8 to +6.

Dynamic Range: The dynamic range can be adjusted by selecting either Normal, Wide or Dialog. Dialog makes the total sound volume become larger as compared with Wide and Normal, allowing you to listen to the movie's dialogue more clearly. This is effective only on Dolby Digital content material.

Source Beep: The in-dash receiver provides an audible beep to confirm source selection. This function can be turned On or Off.

    AV + OEM Connectivity

AV Input: The JVC KW-V820BT DVD receiver is fitted with a rear-panel minijack (3.5mm) audio/video input to connect external AV sources, such as a game system, Blu-ray player, or TV tuner.

Rear Camera In: The rear-panel Camera input consists of a composite video connector which allows you to connect an optional rear-view camera (sold separately). By connecting a rear view camera, you can use the in-dash receiver's touchscreen LCD to see what's behind you when backing up.

    • Parking Guide Lines: When a rear-view camera is connected and you are viewing a rear view image, parking guide lines appear on-screen making parking easy and safer. There are three color-coded horizontal guidelines and two vertical guidelines.
    • Rear-View Auto Switching: The video from this connection can be set to display when switched to this input, or display the rear view camera video automatically when the vehicle is shifted into Reverse gear. The purple/white wire of wiring harness must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching. Automatic video switching takes approximately 0.8 seconds.
Note: The rear view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

AV Output (with Dual Zone): The unit features a composite video jack and 3.5mm audio jack to output AV signals to an optional monitor and headphone system. The unit's AV output can be set to Disc, AV-In, or Off. Volume of the second zone can be controlled by the navigation receiver or your rear entertainment system.

GPS Receiver & Antenna: The JVC  head unit features a built-in GPS receiver and comes with a GPS antenna to enhance the performance of the unit's navigation map from CarPlay.

OEM Integration: This JVC DVD receiver is compatible with the iDatalink Maestro RR (794ADSMRR, sold separately); a web programmable module that will permit the aftermarket JVC receiver to work with select Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles that feature the factory SYNC system; as well as select GM vehicles with factory OnStar; select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with U-Connect, select Toyota/Scion vehicles, and select Volkswagens with factory digital amplifier.

    • Retained Features: The iDatalink Maestro RR lets Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Dodge/Chrysler, Toyota/Scion, and VW owners swap out their factory radio for this aftermarket JVC head unit; while retaining the Ford Sync system, GM OnStar system, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep U-Connect system, steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, USB interface, Satellite Radio, and 911 assist. You also get to keep the hands-free mic that comes with the car (which is specially tuned to that particular vehicle). *Retained features will vary by vehicle.
    • Extra Features: In some installations, the iDatalink Maestro RR lets you configure the head unit to operate interior climate controls and provides extra visual data; such as User Selectable Gauges, Vehicle Info (Tire Pressure/Battery Voltage/Check Engine Codes/Door Ajar Warning), and Visual Park Assist. *Extra features will vary by vehicle.

Note: The iDatalink Maestro RR is web programmable, which means you'll need to flash the iDatalink Maestro RR interface module with the correct firmware from iDatalink's website. In addition to flashing the iDatalink Maestro RR module, you'll also need a vehicle specific harness (sold separately). The JVC receiver's OEM Setup menu must also be configured with your compatible vehicle's factory system before initial operation.

    Q
will this work with an iPhone 8?
    richard  Dec 09, 2017
    5 answers
    A
Yes, CarPlay works well with my IPhone X and should do the same with your 8. I have had some issues with the unit since upgrading my phone. When first pairing the phone with Bluetooth, it will not download my contacts like it did with my iPhone 6. Also the Bluetooth disconnects randomly on occasion. I think this is due to a IOS 11 bug and expect it to be fixed in an update. Anyone else have this problem????

You can go on line and see what apps are compatible with Apple CarPlay. YouTube is not a compatible app with CarPlay. I think that video or picture would have to be recorded on a DVD to be viewable. Also believe there is a feature to prevent viewing DVDs while vehicle is in motion.

No this is not possible, I assume for driving safety reasons. There are some head units out there that have an mini hdmi input this is not one of them. For those that have an hdmi input you would only be mirroring your phones screen (you would have to sue your phone to change videos, websites etc...) hope that helps.
    aaron  Jul 27, 2017
    A
You can view videos only if they are loaded on a USB drive. There is no mirroring option like on Apple TV. If you play a Youtube video on your phone you can hear the audio on the car stereo.
    joe  Jul 26, 2017
    A
No it will not do this to my knowledge.
    shawn  Jul 26, 2017
    A
No, you cannot. The CarPlay function only works with apps that are CarPlay compatible. They are the iPhone, iMessage , and Maps apps as well as some music apps like Music, iHeartRadio and Pandora, etc.
    jesus  Jul 26, 2017
    A
No. The video playback is only allowed when parked. However, YouTube would have to design their app to be used with CarPlay. That is probably my biggest complaint with CarPlay, the limited number of apps.

Takes about 20 seconds to start up. Also you need to have you IPhone plugged in and then start up the radio to activate Apple CarPlay. Have really enjoyed the CarPlay feature, although sometimes the Spotify App can get a little wonky. Useually, restarting the radio will correct this. But time wise it starts pretty quickly.
    george  Jun 06, 2017
    A
After starting the car, it takes a few of seconds (between 4-8 I'd say), before showing the warning message. Hit ok, and ready to go. If you have a phone connected by bluetooth, it takes an additional few seconds (maybe like 5-10 seconds) before the phone's connected and music starts playing.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

No. The GPS module is simply an extension to boost your phones GPS signal a bit. This way your navigation from your phone will be able to lock on better in areas where it has difficulty on its own (like Chicago downtown).

This unit does have a GPS connection for the included antenna. However this unit uses apple CarPlay for its GPS. (It does not have a GPS program without your phone) The port/antenna does make the maps more accurate.

While it works via bluetooth, it does not work with car play. I would look into the JVC KW-V620BT which is essentially the same unit without the carplay and it comes with an HDMI imput as well.

The Bluetooth functionality will work with android. Car play is an iOS specific thing though.

If you are on the last preset of a channel (e.g. FM1) and advance to the next preset, will the radio change to FM2 or start over with preset 1 of FM1?

The station presets are shown on a single page menu that allows you to scroll through them all without having to toggle between "bands" I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

I see that this has 2 USB connections, can I connect 2 IPhones (mine and my wife's) and pick which one I want to use for CarPlay?

According to JVC technical support, you can only use the USB port with the iPhone embossing on it for CarPlay functionality. Therefore, to answer your question - no. Also, heed their recommendations about original Apple Lightning cables - I used an expensive Lightning cable from a local store and it crapped out after 6-hours of use. As soon as I connected to an Apple cable, it worked fine again.

Hey John, while there are 2 USB ports only the top port will recognize an iPhone or certain iPods, check the compatibility list. You can however have 2 phones synced via Bluetooth however you must select which one you want to stream audio from, very simple to switch this in the menus.

You can plug in two phones but only one can run CarPlay at a time. The other USB can run a jump drive. I am not aware of any device that lets you run two iPhones using CarPlay.

No, one of the inputs is dedicated for CarPlay and the other is a general usb port which will play your music but not interface with CarPlay. I've had this system for a few months now and cannot complain about one single thing.

Only one connection can be used for CarPlay and that is the one marked iPhone/iPod. Any device can be placed on the second USB port but will not allow CarPlay.

Can I use the existing microphone built into my car or do I have to use the one included with the unit for bluetooth phone calls?

I was told to use the JVC microphone by technical support, but I also have the steering wheel controls connected. I don't know how the head unit would connect to the built-in microphone as there are no wiring harness conductors for that.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

    Q
I recognize that an iPhone has to be plugged in for CarPlay to work. So if I have a phone set up for CarPlay, but choose NOT to connect it for a 5 min run to the grocery store, will it still connect with Bluetooth for phone and audio streaming? (CarPlay is awesome, but as often as not, I don't want to dig my phone out of my pocket to plug it in.) I don't want to have to re-setup the phone / stereo connection every time . . .

If you have Bluetooth set up on both the head unit and phone and they are paired then yes it will automatically connect if you don't have the phone connected via cable.

You can run your errands using Bluetooth no problems. When you want to, just plug in your iPhone to an Apple Lightning cable (many other brands will not work!) and you're good to go with CarPlay (you'll have to unlock your phone each time).

What is the signal to noise ratio and why do you not publish this anymore?
    david  Aug 11, 2016
    1 answer
    A
The Signal to noise ratio for the built-in disc player is 94dB. The FM Mono signal to noise ratio is 68dB. You will find this information in the "Specifications" section of the owner's manual. You'll find the link for the manual under the 'What's in the box?" section on the stereo's main webpage. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

The JVC KW-V820BT doesn't have WiFi built-in. However, it does feature Apple CarPlay technology which integrates your iPhone into the driving experience in a seamless, distraction-free interface. That means easy access to your music library, audiobooks, phone, messages, navigation, etc. all from the JVC's touchscreen. In order to use CarPlay, your iPhone must be connected to the JVC receiver via the Lightning-cable that came with your Apple device; or JVC's KS-U62 Lightning/USB interface cable (sold separately). I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Not able to find settings such as changing contrast or changing the view to the one in the screenshots. Where are these settings? The only options I've found so far are 1) change backlight and 2) Change colors but not actual layout of the home screen.

On the right of your main screen you will see a touch button with what seems to be a calculator symbol. This will take you to your settings screen. There you will be able to find the different settings options for your main screen, your sound etc.
