A digital dynamo
Plug your iPod® or iPhone® into the USB input, and you can browse your music library using the KW-XR610's controls. Your iPod's controls stay active, so your passengers can play road trip DJ. The KW-XR610 can play all your CDs, including recordable discs. You can burn your MP3 and WMA files to a disc or load them on a USB thumb drive — the choice is yours. A premium, 24-bit digital-to-analog converter brings out details in your music you may not have heard before.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Easy to add on
Two sets of preamp outputs let you add amps and subs to your system, and the rear output can be switched over to subwoofer mode so you can dial in the right amount of bass. You can also add a satellite radio tuner. A handy front auxiliary input lets you hook up a Dock & Play satellite radio or another portable.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use this adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this JVC stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the JVC, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

HD Radio-ready: This receiver is HD Radio-ready, but JVC does not currently offer the outboard tuner module that's required to get reception.

    Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

    Disc Playback

MP3/WMA Playback: The KW-XR610 can play MP3 (32-320 kbps)/WMA files (32-320 kbps) that have been recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs. The disc must be recorded in one of the following formats: ISO 9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, Romeo or Windows long file. Each disc can have a total of 512 files, 255 folders, and 8 hierarchical levels. The unit also supports IDTag3 (version 1.0, 1.1, 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4) for album and artist information from MP3 or WMA files.

Fast Search: If your MP3/WMA disc contains a lot of tracks, you can fast search (+/- 10, 100, 1000) through the disc by simply turning the head unit's rotary dial to find the right song.

A to Z Search: You can search MP3/WMA tracks alphabetically in a desired folder on a disc.

Disc Resume: If you change the source, playback also stops (without ejecting the disc). Next time you select CD for the playback source, the disc will start from where it has been stopped previously.

Disc Protection: If the ejected disc is not removed within 15 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to protect it from dust; playback starts automatically.

Off Eject: The KW-XR610 allows you to eject your disc with the head unit turned off.

Note: The unit will not allow you to load a CD while it is powered off.

Mounting: For proper disc playback you must install the unit within 30-degrees of horizontal.

    USB/iPod/Aux Connection

Front-Panel USB Port: The JVC KW-XR610 features a front-panel USB 2.0 type-A port (behind a sliding cover) for connection of a USB mass-storage class device. The USB port enables audio playback and control of MP3/WMA (32-320 kbps) audio files stored on a portable USB mass-storage class device (FAT 12/16/32). The KW-XR610 can recognize a total of 5,000 files and 255 folders (255 files per folder). The unit also supports IDTag3 (version 1.0, 1.1, 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4) for album and artist information from MP3/WMA files. The KW-XR610 provides Fast Search (+/- 10, 100, 1000) and Alphabetical Search (A-Z) to help you find your MP3/WMA files stored on your USB device.

Note: This unit cannot recognize a USB mass storage class device whose rating is other than 5V and exceeds 500 mA. You cannot connect a USB device via a USB hub or Multi-Card Reader to this unit.

iPod Direct: The JVC KW-XR610's front-panel USB port also acts as an iPod high-speed direct connection when used with the USB/iPod cable that came with your iPod. An additional iPod cable is available (469USBPOD, sold separately) so you can leave one at home and one in the car. Menu options allow iPod control from the head unit or from the iPod itself. From the head unit's front-panel controls you can search your iPod/iPhone's music by Category (Playlist/Artist/Album/Song/Genre/Composer/Audiobook). If the selected category contains a high number of tracks, you can fast search (+/-10, 100, 1000) through the music tracks in that particular category by simply turning the head unit's control dial. The KW-XR610 also supports Repeat and Random playback functions of your iPod/iPhone. Regardless of control mode, the KW-XR610 will display your iPod/iPhone's music file text. The iPod/iPhone will also charge whenever it is connected with the head unit turned on. The JVC KW-XR610 is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features (as of November2011):

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait until a newer software update is available.

Front Panel Auxiliary Input: A front panel stereo minijack is provided to allow the connection of a portable audio source. Just connect your portable digital music player to this unit, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system.

Optional Rear Auxiliary Input: An optional KS-U57 or KS-U58 adapter (105KSU57 or 257KSU58, both sold separately) can be connected to the J-port on the rear panel; giving you an additional auxiliary input. When either of these adapters is used, you cannot connect another external device to this port.

    Radio Functions

AM/FM Tuner: The JVC KW-XR610 features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning.

Preset Tuning: You can store a total of 18 FM stations presets and 6 AM station presets. The radio allows you to set your AM/FM stations manually or automatically.

Note: The KT-HD300 is a discontinued item and is no longer available.

Satellite Radio Ready: There are several options for connecting an optional XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio receiver to this receiver:

    • XM Satellite Radio: To receive XM Satellite Radio connect the optional CNP2000UCA XM Direct2 tuner and the JVC CNP-JVC1 adapter cable (package item number 700XMJVC2, sold separately).
    • SIRIUS: The JVC KW-XR610 is compatible with the SiriusConnect Universal Tuner and Plug & Play Dock.
      • SiriusConnect Tuner: Connect the optional SC-C1 SiriusConnect vehicle tuner (item number 607SCC1) and the JVC KS-SRA100 SIRIUS adapter (item number 105KSRA100) - package # 700SIRJVC1, sold separately.)

    • Portable: A portable satellite radio receiver can be connected to the head unit via the front panel auxiliary input or a JVC auxiliary input adapter, such as the KS-U57 or KS-U58 (sold separately).

Note: A subscription is also required to receive satellite radio programming from SIRIUS or XM.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KW-XR610 utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior CD sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The KW-XR610 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the KW-XR610 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the KW-XR610 are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 20 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

Pro EQ: The KW-XR610 is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 6 preset sound modes (Flat, Natural, Dynamic, Vocal, Bass, User) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User mode allows you to manually adjust the head unit's 3 band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

    Frequency Level Q
    Bass 60, 800, 100, 200 Hz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
    Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.75, 1.0, 1.25, 2.0
    Treble  10, 12.5, 15, 17.5 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) Fixed

Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can turn the Loudness feature on or off.

Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KW-XR610 with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

Source Volume: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

Switchable Preamp Outputs: The KW-XR610 is equipped with two pair of 2.5V preamp outputs (Front/Rear). You can set the rear preamp outputs for connecting rear speakers (through an external amplifier) or for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When set for rear speakers, the rear outputs operate with the unit's fader control. When set for subwoofer, the outputs are non-fading, and you can set the cutoff frequency of the low pass filter at 72Hz, 111Hz, or 157Hz. The subwoofer level can be set between 0 and 8.

Key-Touch Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The KW-XR610 comes supplied with a wireless remote control (RM-RK50). The remote has Power, Attenuator, Sound, Source, Tracking, and Volume functions. The remote operates off of a single CR2025 3V Lithium-cell battery (included).

Steering Wheel Remote Ready: The unit also features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit to allow you to keep your vehicle's radio steering wheel remote controls when used with the optional PAC SWI-JACK Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (127SWIJACK, sold separately); or the optional Metra ASWC Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (120ASWC, sold separately).

Note: Please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to see if your vehicle is compatible.

    Display Features

2-DIN Chassis: The JVC KW-XR610 has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as Double DIN or size DD), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets, or Euro-mounted using the supplied mounting sleeve.

Note: As always, please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to verify fit with your vehicle.

Variable Color LCD and Key Illumination: The JVC KW-XR610 features 29 color presets for the LCD display and button illumination. Additionally, there is a user preset, allowing you to individually adjust the intensity of Red, Green, and Blue from 0 to 31; resulting in approximately 30,000 custom color options. The chosen color can be applied to the display panel and the backlighting for all the buttons, except the Eject and Display buttons (they remain red). You can choose to use the same color for the LCD display and button illumination or use a separate color for each one. You can also select a different color for daytime and nighttime in regards to the unit's LCD display and button illumination, as well as adjust the display's contrast manually (1-8) to make display indications clear and legible.

Display/Button Illumination Dimmer: The display/button illumination dimmer can be set to Off (normal brightness at all times), On (display/button illumination is always dimmed), or Auto (display dims when 12 volts is applied to the illumination lead).

Clock Display: The head unit features a 12/24-hour clock. When you press the Display button during power off, the unit will turn on, display the clock for 5 seconds, then shut off. This can be done with the ignition on or off.

Pros: Fair amount of features but the USB will not work with iPhone 4GS.

I was looking for a system that I could plug my iPod into because AM/FM was just not getting it and the satelite radio wasn't compatible either with the stock system. The set was easy to install, easy to operate, (even for an old "low tech" guy like me) and the sound quality is awesome.

Pros: Looks like it belongs in the truck, sounds a lot better.

Easy to install. nice head unit with great color options. Very good unit for the price. Used in my 2004 Toyota Sienna to replace to factory cassette unit. I recommend for the price, you get a lot.` I have the higher model JVC in my classic Eldorado which has a better display and rear USB also.

Pros: Main controls very well placed for easy use while driving. Resonable quick reading USB files. Easy to see large display.

Cons: scrolling information very limited. Volume output was not very loud using the RCA outs to existing factory JBL system.

Solid unit for the price. I would highly recommend. I have a 94 Accord, it was a little tricky getting to fit properly but I was able to make it work. Sounds much better than the 15 year old Kenwwod I replaced. I like this unit over other double-DIN's because it seems to have more options, power and operate easier than similar units in it's class.

Great head unit that really pushes my speakers to the limit. I love the color 27 different color options and you can change the color of the buttons and face independently. Easy to install and is a perfect fit in my 2000 Toyota Tundra. The one con is the buttons feel a little cheap but this is not a deal breaker for me. The large classy silver volume knob makes up for this in my opinion. For the money, you cannot find a better head unit.

Pros: Sound quality, color choices, classy silver volume knob, easy install and perfect fit.

    Cons: Slightly cheap feeling buttons.

Overall JVC receiver is great. I'm glad I purchased with product. I would have been lost on installation without the Cruthfield tech guys. My sales guy was very knowledgable and did not pressure me in the sale. No problems so far with receiver. Wish there was an HD adaptor available for this receiver. Thanks Crutchfield for all your help and expertise!

Pros: Look, Value/Price, USB and Aux controls, Remote Control

Cons: Installation: Alot of wires that came with the steering wheel control and GM adaptor were not even used. The installtion kit is not the easiest to work with to install and having to cut off alot of the plastic parts to fit into dash.

Thank you for all the included installation kits and pictured diagrams I was successful in the installment process. Despite the difficulty in removing the face cover & unplugging the wires for the adapters I learned a valuable lession. I'm now ready for the speaker challenge and maybe an amplifier, too.

Pros: The sound is much improve from the factory radio, I like the change in colors of the face plate and the many options that come with the stereo receiver and also the USB plug-in for my MP3 player, I don't rely on CD's so much now.

Cons: Nothing to complain about I have done my research on the one that fits my Nissan Frontier.

Very good sound quality once you figure out all of the fine adjustments of the sound! I think on some of the other reviews I have read that were negative were due to the fact that the User could not figure out how to fine tune their unit! The power is good on this unit, there is quite a bit of difference between FM and CD/AUX sound quality as with most head units.

Pros: Great sound for the cost and installation was easy with the provided kit from Crutchfield.

I purchased the JVC KW-XR610 head unit for my Ford Five hundred. I should of done this a long time ago.The unit has my factory speakers sounding 10x better, I can't believe it. I'm glad I did not replace the speakers. The JVC features have outstanding performance as far as power and EQ sound. I purchased an Alpine unit less than a year ago and I can tell you JVC is the better bang for the buck. Although I did like the compadability of Alpines in-line Power Amp.

This is a decent cheap way to get USB and Aux in in an older GM. One thing that ticked me off is that the clock can only be seen is you push the DISP button when the unit is off.

Pros: USB and Aux in Affordable double DIN

Cons: Needs too many adapters Does not display the clock when the radio is off.

This thing instantly increased the sound quality in my 03 Toyota Tundra. Very clear and clean sound. Color changing is a very nice touch. overall I think its a great unit for anyone that doesnt want the single din with the small opening for junk to collect. also matches lines nicely. flashy but not in your face

Pros: Variable color, ability to control your ipod from the head unit or from the ipod itself. has clean lines

Cons: My ipod 5th generation video (30gb) will only let me control it from the head unit, and not from the ipod itself.

I was impressed overall with this product. The many features it has is a plus being able to chose which feature suits you best. My (FAVORITE) is the USB not having to burn cd's SWEET. Getting the free speakers what a bonus and I received my shipment before time. It serves my purpose more than I expected.

Pros: My Favorite by far is the USB port. Being able to adjust the Colors to match your Vehicle interior lighting color is nice. The overall look of this product.

Cons: The easy in witch you can remove the unit from the dash. No way of interring a security code that disables the radio if stolen. It's not flush with the dash.

This stereo does NOT fit my 2002 VW Golf with the cup holders that are above the stereo and pop out. The cup holders actually rub against the front of the unit and will eventually scratch it. I'm replacing it with a single din unit which should solve the problem.

I also don't like how in general the unit protrudes from the dash a 1/4 of an inch and it is in a glossy black finish instead of a flat black matte finish like my dash. Both these problems seem impossible to fix with an aftermarket stereo.

Pros: I loved the color changing ability to adapt it to my car's stock colors. I loved the big buttons and big display.

Cons: I hate the cheap feeling of the buttons. I hate that this unit sticks out of my dash a 1/4 of an inch and therefore my cup holders rub on the front of the unit. I hate that some of my USB devices don't work properly in the unit probably due to power requirements for these USB devices.

I bought this unit to replace a low end Nissan factory CD receiver. The choice was based on (1) double DIN, (2) iPod control, and (3) simple UI. The double DIN fits in the dash relatively well using the Crutchfield supplied face plate kit. The iPod control works reasonably well also. Everything else about the unit is poor.

The AM radio reception (college football anyone?) is much worse than the factory unit. Same for the FM reception. The sound quality is worse. The power output is worse. The gloss plastic front panel with embedded buttons is terrible. The knob is so flimsy it feels like it will fall off if I go offroad. The sheet metal is tissue thin. Worst of all though is the user interface. They got everything wrong, including basic things like displaying the clock when the radio is off. Cycling through the inputs is annoying. On almost any radio today the presets can be AM or FM, but not on this unit. You need to go to the AM source to get to AM presets and FM source for the FM presets.

I think I may put the factory CD receiver back in and ship the JVC back to Crutchfield.

There just have to be better double DIN solutions out there, so save your time and avoid this one.

Pros: The iPod and MP3 inputs work as advertised.

Cons: Performance falls far short of basic OEM unit.

Really nice car stereo if your looking to upgrade your factory tunes. I put this in an 11 year old Oldsmobile and it works out great. I wold have easily given this system 5 stars except the "mounting kit" that was sent with it was really bad. I had to set both receivers next to each other and "modify" the installation kit to work. Crutchfield usually does a great job matching things but after about an hour of trying to follow the really terrible directions, I threw them away and was on my own. Even the "side" mounts had to have new holes drilled in them as the kits "slots" wouldn't match up with the new receiver. In general, great tunes...really terrible mounting kit.

The included installation package was helpful (wire harness adoptor - greatest invention..for my other vehicle I spent 2 days upside-down sodering wires under the dash instead of sitting in front of the TV connecting wires, also included antenna adaptor - who would have known I needed one? the entire install was completed in under 4 hrs (had trouble removing old deck - factory screws were real tight and hard to remove. You may find the same product on ebay for $10 less but you won't get the support so its well worth it. Deck sounds great...nothing fancy but definitely better that my stock deck. I liked that this unit had a USB port and you could change the display color to match the dash color. However after several months of use the XR610 died. The cd part worked for ejecting the disk. The time was able to be displayed. Nothing else worked. I sent the unit to be repaired under warranty. I received the unit today (09/12/2011). After hooking the unit up I found out the same problem existed. The sensitivity of this unit was also poor, compared to other units I have owned from Sony or Pioneer. I understand that any company can have a bad unit but to pay shipping to and then from the repair facility and still not have a working unit is inexcusable. The person I spoke to suggested I send the unit back, but that is like throwing good money after bad. I have no faith that it will be fixed. I will have to look for something else.

    Great Radio espically for price

I bought this radio with my dad and he loved the way it looked. I thought it was gonna be no good due to the price and once we installed it which only took 30 minutes I loved it. It allowed me to keep a sleek sexy look in my 1991 Acura Legend and change the color to better go with the gauges in the car or if i wanted to match the interior of the car.. This radio is great its the best iPod control i ever had with any radio. Every other radio u have to constantly push a button to scroll the songs when on this one you can use the big silver knob on the radio to scroll through just like the ipod itself. Another thing is does anyone else have a problem scrolling through the radio stations? its like the radio takes over and doesnt stop or it wont let you pick the certain station you want. other than that all in all its a great radio with a nice black look to it. It looks excellent on and off and so easy to install im sure a kid could figure it out with no directions.

Ordered this Monday received it Thursday via ground. Everything came as described. This unit went in to a '97 Nissan Maxima with factory Bose system. Wiring was straight forward with the Scosche adapter and the harness from the unit. Adjusting the gain was simple as pie. I hope my bride will enjoy it, there is much more functionality with the JVC than the tired old Bose system. Sound quality is plenty good enough and I imagine she will have fun playing with the back light colors. I still have to finish trimming it out as it was not dead on fit in the stock chasis but that is small potatoes.

    For 2004 Venture Van

Written By Johnson, Charleston, SC on Tuesday, August 30, 2011

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced factory 2 DIN radio in a Venture van. First off, you're going to need the GM Onstar GMOS-01 Class II Interface (which is offered at half price) when you replace this unit in this model van. I thought I could circumvent it, but had to cave in to keep the chimes, accessory power, etc. The JVC fit perfectly when following the directions with the supplied mounting harness. The first thing noted was the FM sensitivity. Using the scan function, I picked up more radio stations than I knew existed in our area, many of them were 80-100 miles away. All were static-free. Pretty dang good for a non-HD radio. The iPod worked as described. The one thing to be aware of - the name of the song will scroll OR the name of the album with the artist will scroll. My Kenwood in my truck scrolls the song with the artist. I wish the JVC did this because the album is no big deal to me. The auto dimmer didn't work with this unit combined with the GMOS-01. It should have, as the factory radio dimmed and there were connections for it on this unit and the GMOS-01. I turned the dimmer ON in the menu so it's now subdued all the time, else it's pretty bright at night. The color change option is also nice to have. It's relatively easy to setup and is easy to use. Overall - for the price, I would purchase again.

You are going to be amazed at this hands free device. I am using the HTC EVO and it matched up with the JVC beautifully. This unit has a very nice EQ and other functions, but you will not be disappointed. Now as far as the color scheme, many of the reviews say that some colors do not work in sun light and I say . . . . GET OVER IT AND CHANGE TO ANOTHER COLOR! ! ! ! There are many other functions and the menu can get complicated to use but once you get the hang of it, it starts to become second nature. Just mess around with it for a little while. You're not going to learn this device in a day. GREAT DEVICE ! Thanks Crutchfield !

Using the wiring harness provided by JVC and then the harness used to keep your warning bells, the hook up was fairly flawless. Did the wiring on the kitchen table and it was practically plug and play. However, the steering wheel control adapter was a little more involved. I was on the phone with tech support and it took a while to find where to plug into the wiring harness. Once that was done it was easy programming. Now looking at speakers and amp to increase performance of the new system. Love the IPOD controls on the stereo.

Ok, I studied 3 different diagrams for install provided to me. Wiring was cake, the install was tuff in my 2008 Grand Marquis LS. The tech guys were a little unsure of why my deck wouldn't fit. Finally got it installed and it works beautifully. Cranked it to 20 with doors closed and used "dynamic" sound preset and WOW! Installed 4-5x7 Boston Acoustics S85's before deck install. Deck didn't go all the way in on top but I'll have to live with it. Deck has lots of options and I think this combo works well. Because this deck can't be removed once installed(without removing your dash), I hooked up both outs and the remote lead in the event I install an amp/sub or 2 more speakers. Good idea I thought. Now I can tell people what not to do/or do for this deck in a '08 Grand Marquis probably better than the tech's!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this JVC 610 in a 05' Silverado 1500 crew cab, primarly for 3
reasons, 1) I didn't want to modify the support bracket behind the stock head
unit, which you would have to do with many of the other aftermarket head units.
this also lets me return to the stock GM radio
    2) Because it is a 2 dinn head unit, it mantained a very nice stock look, as if it
was made for this dash, it also limits the amount of "dash kit" plastic that
shows if it were a single dinn unit.
    3) I wanted to update so I could use an I-pod / I touch with usb connection.
This unit did all of these things very well, and the ability to change the colors of
the display and buttons turned out to be a nice "bonus", you can preset daylight
and night time colors so you can really see the display nice in sunny conditions
and tone it down at night so it's not the main attraction (or distraction) of your
I currently have stock speakers, and it drives them with plenty of power, and
sounds better than the GM head unit, however, I'm sure a set of new speakers
    will make it shine.
Installation was a breez, with NO modifications to truck dash or original wiring,
all modifing took place with the supplied dash kit and wire connecting the GM
adapter harness and radio harness, then it's just pluged in to the truck
I'm very happy with Crutchfield and their service, and this JVC unit does
everything as advertised, I feel it's a great unit for the price.

about two hours, not bad. I was a little nervous about sound quality because of
other reviews but it sounds just as good, if not better, than my factory stereo.
The only thing I was slightly bummed about was that while driving during the

First off, great customer service as usual! Super fast shipping (I got my
shipped email with tracking number less than 30 mins after placing my order).

Installed super easy with the supplied wiring harness adapter in less than an
hour and I took my time. I had ordered this unit both because I wanted to fill up
thedash opening and not have a pocket and I figured that I could get a close
color match to my factory gagues and my aftermarket Prosports mounted in the
stock clock location and I was correct!

The menus are very easy to use and navigate; programming color settings and
EQ is very simple (I like how you can set the unit to one color scheme when the
light switch is "off" and a different color scheme when the light switch is "on")

This unit made my stock speakers sound much better (considereing the stock
head unit on a 2004 WRX puts out about 5-8 watts RMS....) let alone the sound
quality difference I got when I installed 4 new pioneer speakers I had also

    The only two things that I felt could be improved on this unit are;
    1) a rear USB port so that iPods can be left connected without as much fear of
    2) The rectangular quad-button on the lower left-hand of the unit's face feels
cheap and the up and down buttons dont realy do anything.
Those are two very small issues compaired to how many awesome features
    that this head unit has

    Pretty Good radio

Overall its a pretty good radio, easy to install, good to program and the sound
is pretty awesome when compared to the stock stereo of my car which is a nissan
altima coupe 08, I do have minor gripes though, the fact that the radio doesnt
showes up the time when turned off kills me, its a basic function these days,
USB functions are pretty good, however the folder seek time on a USB and MP3
folders is kinda slow, Loud function is too hidden to consider it a quick
function, other than that, is an awesome radio, especially for the price...

This was the perfect compliment to the car we are giving our 16yr. old
daughter. Great price, ipod controls, and she can customize the colors. Very
easy install with the provided kit.

    Great for my needs

Just needed to replace my broken stock unit. Good looking unit and installed EZ in my
2005 Nissan Frontier . The screen is extremely EZ to read with large letters. The buttons
for everything are absolutely fantastic - very good control without much groping. CD
controls are exceptionally EZ to use without losing sight of traffic. The reception is
fantastic with the HD add on. The quality of sound is greatly improved using the stock
speakers. You really get the bang for the buck with this unit. Used their install card, did
not want to do it myself. You cannot get a better price since they send the entire
equipment you need at no extra cost. Again, you cannot go wrong buying this set. No
problems in setting up, EZ menu and variable colors and clock

Only One Wish For This Radio

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this radio in place of the Panasonic Monsoon radio that developed
keypad issues in my 2007 Saturn Sky.

I love the ability to reconfigure the background color. That addresses the
single biggest gripe I had about the factory radio...the amber background color
    washed out in bright sunlight.

I can live without the speed-variable volume of the factory radio. I miss the
Radio Data Service (RDS) display of the factory radio a little bit.

I wish it were just a little bit louder in my car. I have to crank the volume
knob up to 35 or 40 out of 50 to hear the radio when I'm driving at highway speeds.

Receiver works excellent. The ability to change the backlighting to match the vehicles
lights is a real plus. Sound is terrific, much better than my factory stereo that I replaced.
The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that when using HD radio, if the HD
signal is not strong enough, the radio will switch back and forth between HD and SD
constantly. This is very annoying because of not only the difference in sound quality, but
there is usually a delay between one signal and the other, so you keep hearing a 2 or 3
second overlap whenever the radio switches. It would be much better if you could just
tell the receiver to always stay on one signal for a particular station and not switch back
and forth. I know you can do this, but every time you change the station, you have to tell
the receiver to stay on a particular signal again. Kind of annoying. Other than that
    though, the receiver is great.
