A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound. JVC's Arsenal component speakers bring out the subtle details in your music, yet offer the high power-handling capability that you need in a high-performance system. Cast aluminum frames use JVC's own heat transfer technology to keep things running cool even under the most extreme conditions. Hemp/glass composite cones The Arsenal CS-ARS650 component system features a low-profile 6-3/4" woofer that fits into a wide variety of speaker openings, including many 6-1/2" locations. Woofer Size: The woofers in this component set fit both 6-3/4" and 6-1/2" openings. The screw holes on the frame follow the standard 6-3/4" pattern. In order to install them in 6-1/2" speaker openings you must either drill new screw holes or use the included multi-hole adapter rings. The adapter rings allow installation in many standard 6-1/2" applications, Ford 4-hole 6-1/2" applications, and specialized 6-3/4" applications. Crossovers: The outboard crossovers have jumpers offering three tweeter output options; flat, -3 dB, and -6 dB. The inputs and outputs are screw terminals that will accept bare wire up to 12 gauge. The included woofer and tweeter wires have quick slides installed. Each crossover also has set screw terminals for a 12 volt DC input which powers three internal blue LEDs. The 12 volt illumination input is optional, it doesn't affect the operation of the crossover. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. I have a 1997 GMC K2500 Suburban that had a component woofer and tweeter setup in the front doors so I bought these as replacements. They sound great, I was hoping for a bit more bass but I guess I'll just have to break down and buy some Subs! The install was pretty simple, the woofers slipped into the factory opening, I just had to drill new mounting holes, the tweeters didn't look like they were going to fit into the factory location without major modification so I just went with the sail panel inside the door behind the mirror. I mounted the crossover just below the arm rest mount and between the door panel and the door. The (2) Crutchfield supplied harnesses are made to connect straight to a regular non- component speaker so I had to butt splice them to some of the spare speaker wire to feed the crossover.
