Tuck a pair under your eaves and they'll pump out the tunes to keep everybody smiling and swaying at your next cookout or pool party. We also have some "rock" speakers that blend seamlessly into your landscaped lawn or garden. Put great Polk performance to work wherever you want it. The Atrium 45 offers great sound, thanks to its 3/4" dome tweeter and 4-1/2" Dynamic Balance woofer. And the rugged, weatherproof design meets or exceeds stringent military specifications for full exposure to the elements. That means you'll get years of great sound from these speakers, wherever you put them. The included mounting brackets add complete placement flexibility. Features Weatherproof: The rugged, mineral-filled polypropylene enclosures not only feature rust-proof hardware and grilles, but also meet or exceed stringent military specifications for full exposure to the elements. Unlike many other "outdoor" speakers that require sheltered locations, the Atrium45 speakers can be mounted anywhere, even out in the open. Woofers: Each speaker uses a mineral-filled polypropylene Dynamic Balance woofer for clean midrange and deep, accurate bass. For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround. Tweeters: Each speaker has a 3/4" metallized Polymer composite dome tweeter. The tweeters broadly distribute high frequencies to cover a large area with high-fidelity sound. Mounting Brackets: The included mounting brackets add complete placement flexibility. They allow you to rotate the speakers by 90 degrees after they've been mounted, letting you direct the sound to different areas as needed. If the speakers are mounted vertically, the brackets allow them to swivel side to side. If the speakers are mounted horizontally, the brackets allow them to swivel up and down. 5-Way Binding Posts: The gold-plated 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs. IMO there is no loss of highs or lows for being outdoors and actually the lows are pretty impressive for a speaker of this size, very clear and pronounced. I'm only powering them with a JVC 20 watt car HU so take into consideration they're 8ohm speakers and I'm losing a bit of power but they still sound incredible. Of course the only place I would purchase them is from my friends here at Crutchfield. Excellent!! Was this review helpful? Yes | No 3 out of 5 Decent Outdoor Speakers Written By DougMac, Middle Georgia on Sunday, August 08, 2010 I bought these for our pre-wired screened in porch. Mounting was a cinch, 2 #10 screws for each bracket, then banana plugs into the outlets I installed when we built the house. It took maybe 15 minutes, including getting the ladder. The sound is decent for outdoor speakers with good smooth highs and better than expected bass. The speakers are in a relatively small plastic enclosure and get pretty boxy sounding if there's a lot of mid bass. It's just the nature of the beast. If you're used to high quality speakers, the limitations of these speakers will be glaringly obvious. At the price point and as used as background music for parties, they are a good deal. Crutchfield service was excellent, the order process was smooth and they shipped out fast. I'd give them another point if they weren't so boxy sounding in certain conditions. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Definite Upgrade Written By Jon0, Marcellus, MI on Saturday, August 07, 2010 Hail damage trashed my Posh deck speakers, and after listening to a variety of brands at a local shop I chose these. They sounded better than ones costing twice as much! Rich bass outdoors is a blast, and the military-spec design gives me confidence for the next storm. Crutchfield service and support just seals the deal! Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Great Value Written By B.Sailor, Georgia on Friday, July 09, 2010 Very quick shipping. Great speakers for the money. I'm using them on my pool deck and I am able to get a quality sound all over the backyard. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Great sounding speakers! Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Polk Atrium 45 Written By km, Piermont, NH on Monday, June 28, 2010 I bought these for my husband as a Father's Day gift- he was thrilled to open them up. The hard part was fishing the exterior walls for wiring, that is a given. Once he had the wiring in place it was a cinch to attach the speakers and turn up the volume. They sound great! We have them under the eves, horizontally mounted, rotated slightly downward. They sound great sitting on the deck and way out into our back yard. We have almost no trees around and are surrounded by hay fields. Very happy with them at this point. Neighbors have not complained yet. We hope they withstand the test of time & weather as well as they sound. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Polk Audio Written By JOE, Monroe, OH on Monday, May 10, 2010 These speakers sound so good, I bought 2 pairs. After researching the internet, I returned a set to a local store due to price. I decided on the second set when I saw Crutchfield's price. I installed one set for my rear surround and the other as an outdoor set. These sound just as clear as the old bookshelf's. I even look to purchase a Polk center channel and woofer to complete the set-up. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Great Speakers Written By Joy, Midwest, Illinois on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 We recently added a sunroom on to our home and wanted to be able to pipe music into the room from an amplifier in different room. We purchased the Polk Atrium 45 speakers in white to blend in w/the light colored walls. My husband found them easy to install. They look great on the wall and the fact that they swivel is a very nice feature so one can aim them the direction of choice. For our needs, in a 240sq foot room with a slightly pitched ceiling, they seem to be just perfect. The sound quality is great with enough base and treble to make most all music sound fantastic. We have had them a couple wks and have enjoyed using them every day. We look forward to many years of service from them. If you need speakers for a similar situation --you won't be disappointed w/these Polk speakers. 5 out of 5 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? They sound great in both places. I like to hear smooth jazz, new big band sound (ie. Michael Buble') and my wife likes new country. These sound good for all of them with enough bass to satisfy my listening expectations. (I run these on my Denon AVR 2808CI.) 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Polk Atrium 45 Written By Gail, Sanford, FL on Thursday, January 29, 2009 I'm absolutely delighted! I mounted these speakers outside by our pool just underneath the porch roof. The sound is so much better than I expected. I'm the dedicated music lover in my household and I can tell you that these speakers deliver a very clean, crisp, and clear sound. Much of the listening I do out there in the pool area is of satellite radio but I did notice that when I play CD's the sound quality is even better. I couldn't be happier. For the money, I believe this was a very good investment! 14 out of 14 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
