The Polk CS20 creates a life-sized center image and anchors dialogue and sound effects to your TV's screen. Polk carefully designed the woofers and tweeter using laser testing to help identify and eliminate resonance points. The acoustically inert MDF cabinet fights internal vibrations that can compromise performance. It all adds up to smooth, accurate sound with movie soundtracks and multichannel music sources.

The CS20 is uniquely designed with an angled top, so you can invert the speaker for placement on a low shelf to direct the sound towards your listening area. And a woodgrain vinyl finish with stylish piano black sides give this speaker a warm, refined look, making it an attractive addition to just about any room.

Mix and match this center speaker with any of Polk's TSi series floor-standing or bookshelf speakers. Add Polk's satellite speakers and a subwoofer for a complete surround sound system.

Your home theater's most important speaker

The center channel speaker is the workhorse in a home theater system. It has to reproduce clear dialogue and special effects that keep your eyes and ears glued to the movie action. A high-quality center speaker is a great investment for any surround sound setup. Try to choose one that's as closely matched as possible to your front right and left speakers, so that as sound moves across the front stage, it stays seamlessly realistic.

Polk Audio TSi CS20

Written by: Gerald, TX from Texas on December 17, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the Polk Audio TSi CS20 for my Polk Audio TSi400, which I used for some time and once temporary connected to my Polk Audio CS2 Center Channel speaker from my other set of speakers. I spent really some time to search the better Center Channel speaker, and found this speaker. Crutchfield was the only one who carried the CS20 at that time. My feeling was, the CS20 could be better than the CS10 and CS2. Thus, I ordered it. Indeed, it works much better than my CS2.

The service was great. The shipping was very fast.

Pros: Beautiful sound.

Cons: No.

Better than I expected for the price! Delivery was fast, three days coast to coast. I am using it with a pair of Polk TSx220's, they go together very well. Sounds much better tan a soundbar and I can use the system to play decent music as well.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this speaker after reading several reviews the most noted comment that struck me was that you could hear everything that was said down to a whisper ! It is a true statement, my old center channel which I thought was great an older Realistic (comparable to a CS10 in speaker size) really lacked in this area. The CS20 is an excellent speaker and is timbre matched to my TSi 500's I have as my front speakers!!

Pros: Quality, Sound , Price

Cons: None

Purchased a 25c and this TSi cs20. I like the way this TSi fits better tht the 25c. The lower frequency is decent, and really good for the price and quality. the crossover I use with is is about 40 Hz.

Pros: Size, lower frequency response.

Cons: Extreme highs aren't like a Klipsch. That COULD be a con

Pros: Clean looking. Great sounding. Looks to be well made.

Cons: It is a bit large.

An Excellent Center Channel Speaker

Written by: Chas from Jacksonville, Florida on July 30, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very pleased with this speaker. It is crisp and clear making dialog very easy to understand. It also does a very good job at reproducing music when using a multi channel setting on your receiver. The build quality is impeccable. The size of the speaker is impressive. You need a speaker with sizable drivers to get quality sound. This speaker does not disappoint. It is light years ahead of those small center channel speakers that come in package deals. I purchased the cherry finished model. It has a very upscale look to it. The black lacquer sides give it the finishing touch.

Pros: Crisp, clear sound. Reproduces music exceptionally well. Impressive size and build quality. Cherry finish gives an awesome look. A lot of speaker both in sound and quality for the money.

Cons: None than I can think of.

Finishing touch to my system

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Needed the Polk center speaker to complete my Polk audio system. The CS 10 is available here locally but I wanted the CS 20 and found it at Crutchfield. Best price found anywhere and fast shipping. CS20 is all it is rated and advertised as. Knew the speaker was on the large size and made sure it would fit before I bought. Matched with TSI 400 fronts and TSI 200 backs with Polk 12 inch sub powered by a Denon receiver. Will be the last system I will ever need to buy.

Pros: Deep rich sound

I found this beautiful Polk center speaker on Crutchfield, when i saw the price drop i could not believe it and i didn't even hesitate to buy, i wanted the black version but they had the cherry version only and i don't regret it because i was amaze with the looks of it! i recomend this speaker to anyone who wants a clear sound, there was a huge different from a pioneer i had that is a 3' speaker and they where missing sounds for some reason, as soon as i install this puppy everything in the movies sound how was suppose to be meant to be!!! funny part is that, as soon as the UPS delivery man gave it to me in my hands he said, " you are going rumble and fall in love with this baby's' he told me he own the cs20 and the csi400 and he said that i had made the best choice of my life without paying to much money, plus was free shipping and came over to Puerto Rico in only 2 days!!!!! amazing! anyways get it!!!!! ;D

Pros: Amazing Chrystal clear sound and bassy voice witch is awesome! , beautiful cherry finish, solid 6-1/2 speakers with a beautiful 1" Dynamic Balance silk dome tweeter. 10/10 highly recommended.

Cons: NONE!!!!! is way to perfect to have Cons period! :P

Polk Audio TSi CS20

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this center speaker in the outlet section as a "Scratch & Dent" for the fraction of the original price thinking a couple of scratches maybe. When I received the product it looked like somebody intentionally dropped it on all four corners. It's all cosmetics and fortunately my setup hides the flaws. This is a GREAT center speaker and produces so much more then I had anticipated. It matches well with my Polk Audio TSi200 speakers. I would DEFINITELY purchase this product again.

Pros: Great producing sound

Cons: Size. Make sure to get the dimensions first before considering this product to make sure it will fit your current setup.

Do yourself a favor and match this awesome TSi CS20 center channel with the TSi 200 speakers and you will have great sound to your home theater. I was blown away with the power and robust sound that come out of these speakers when paired together. I almost wondered if the other speakers mattered since these do such an awesome job. Nothing compares at the price - Do yourself a favor and POLKIFY your home theater!!!

Pros: - Incredible Robust full sound quality with beautiful full midrange and lows with a little tweet - Great Cabinet look very professional and display nicely. - Can't go wrong with this unit.

Cons: Absolutely none... Just trying to decide between the cherry and black cabinet...I love the cherry cabinet.

This is a great center speaker. It has plenty of depth to it and really makes a huge difference when watching movies. I have expensive font channels and was hesitant to pair this center with my fronts. I know polk is a great brand but was just unsure how it would match up. Well, it sounds great. At this price point, there is no reason to buy the CS10. Well, other than space limitations.

Pros: Sound quality Build quality Aesthetics

Cons: Size

Great Center for TSi Polk Line

Written by: Electro from Fort Wayne IN on June 24, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, this is a good center channel speaker. I tend to always see a bunch of reviews that never explain their system setup so I'll start there:

TSi400 Fronts CS20 Center ProSub 1000 Subwoofer

I currently only have a 3.1 setup. This center channel does very good with the two TSi400s. It was definitely a significant improvement from just having the two fronts and the sub. With the two TSi400s, this center speaker is the way to go.

Pros: Matches the TSi line of Polk Audio perfectly. The large 6 1/2" speakers really bring out the growls I like to hear in metal music such as Parkway Drive.

Cons: There are two positions you can place this speaker in. One is straight and one is angled. I'm not a fan of the stick-on feet they supply with this. I would prefer built-in rubber in all positions in case I would like to ever change the setup. I have not used the stick-on feet because my setup is still in limbo so I can't say how hard they are to remove.

Written by: John K from Fort Myes, FL on May 14, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Hard to beat this center channel in this price range if matched properly. Am using this with a Denon AVR2313 and all Pol system (TSi500's, PSW125 sub, and OMW5 surrounds), and sound quality is excellent. Major upgrade from small Energy Take 5 center I was using previously. This one is not straining at all with the 105 watt per channel receiver, and voices etc. are clear and clean.

Pros: Great sound, beautiful cabinet

Cons: This thing is big---about 23"W x 8"H x 12" deep counting posts, so you'll need some room for it!

Everything is so loud & vibrant. I have re-watched certain movies and have heard certain noises that i didn't hear with my first center channel. It's actually made my entire surround sound system way better! I want to watch my entire collection of blu rays all over again just because of this center channel! Only con is the actual size of it! I thought it would be smaller, but it's actually quite large.

Pros: Clarity, Clear even when volume is low

Cons: Size of actual Center Channel

Clarity Beast

Written by: KJ from Boston on April 18, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This speaker sends such clear sound - I keep thinking the sound is coming from my other speakers! It is essential while watching TV because most of the audio comes from the center channel. In movies, this speaker delivers and really balances the audio. The only negative is the size of this beast. I mean, wow - it is A LOT bigger than you think and you'll realize this when you try to put it in the center position.

Pros: -clarity -sound -price -quality

Cons: -size -size -it is tall, wide AND long. The tapered rear means you cannot put anything on top of it...

Great Center Speaker

Written by: Mel Y from Hi on March 27, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this speaker about 2 weeks ago. The sound is very clear and has great bass for a center channel speaker. I have adequate room for this monster so space wasn't an issue. This speaker replaced an Energy 4" center that made a world of difference. I got this paired up with Polk TSI300 for the main speakers, RC60I and RC85I for the surrounds. The Klipsch sub rounds out the 7.1 system. The CS20 made listening to music sound much better due to the 6 1/2" drivers that help my TSI300's run the mid and lower bass. I was thinking about the CS10 but after reading other reviews decided to step up with this guy. I know this was the right choice for my needs. I ran an audyssey setup with my Onkyo receiver that made my system come to life. Had to tweak the center a little because most of the voices come from there especially when watching movies. If you have the it! Thought Crutchfield made a mistake when the UPS guy handed this box to me......maybe a subwoofer? NO......just the CS20....HA HA!

Pros: Clear sound, nice cabinet finish and great bass. Great price point.

Cons: Big if you don't have the space.

Written by: Josh from Corpus Christi, TX on March 26, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This center channel speaker is incredible. I got it to go along with my TSI300 towers and it blew my mind. I've never heard such clear dialogue and other sounds in a movie before. I'm very impressed. I almost got the CS10 but thought I'd go a little bigger since they center channel is the workhorse for movies.

Pros: Amazing sound quality, can handle a full range of frequencies, not just the mids highs. It's well balanced (for my ears anyway) and it's a good looking speaker too. The polished ends really look classy.

Cons: This is a big center speaker. This isn't necessarily a con, but if there's a specific place you'd like to place a center channel speaker, I'd recommend paying close attention to the dimensions and double checking if it'll fit.

Center Stage

Written by: AlleyO from Mission, Texas on January 15, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It certainly is the largest and best center channel speaker that I have ever seen or heard or owned! It is a speaker set that deserves its place at the center, as it does its job extremely well. You can built your surround system around this speaker. Missed dialogue in movies is a thing of the past.

Pros: Without a doubt this is the best center speaker you can by for the money. It could make even a cheap sound system sound much better. You can built a great system around this speaker box. It's sheer size alone will enlist positive comments, then its performance will do the rest. The fact that one surface of the cabinet is slanted means that the box can be mounted either high on the wall or low, and the speakers can still be aimed at the listeners. The wood grain and color is beautiful.

Cons: If hanging this speaker either from the ceiling or wall is your plan then you had better have very strong brackets. Even with knowing the speaker enclosure size it really doesn't hit home that it's so huge, until you actually open the box and lift it out.

A Blockbuster

Written by: Nick T. from Aston, PA. on January 9, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Polk CS 20 is the best center channel speaker I have ever owned. Not only is the clarity of the mid-range and high frequencies second to none, but the price is unbelievable for what you get. The sheer weight of the speaker shows you this is no toy, but the ease of installation and setting the level of sound at your amplifier with your other speakers is almost seamless. HD movies, radio, and CDS can put the speaker through its paces and shows it can handle any level of audio without distortion and helps to completely envelope you in sound. Finally, dialogue in movies and on TV is so crystal clear that even older people with modest hearing loss can hear everything.

Pros: Very clear dialogue, and middle and high frequencies. Solidly built like a tank No distortion at high volumes

Cons: This is no toy. It is heavy and big and fits well with TVs of 40 inches and larger

First center channel I've had, paired with polk tsi 300 and a psw111 sub. Sounds amazing, voices are very clear.

Pros: Sounds amazing

Cons: Size. Seriously, at 23" wide and 7 3/8" high, this thing is huge. I had a heck of a time finding something my wife and I could agree on :).

I was so hesitant to get this center, I had an old Martin Logan center and the dialogues were so dull. Once I had this replaced, so much clarity in voice and overall sound quality has greatly improved. The one disadvantage for me was the size. I had to clear up an entire rack to place this beast.

Pros: Awesome sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I Love all my new Polk Cherry Finish Speakers. (Also got the Polk TSi 500 Cherry Towers.) This is my first Center Channel Speaker though. For years I got by with some good bookshelf speakers from Axiom (now my Surround Speakers) and their Sub. I have noticed a big difference with this Center Channel Speaker and the Towers. It really does help having a good Center Channel Speaker for the voices and things in that Channel. Also, with my Yamaha RX-A1000 Receiver turned up way too loud (gotta be careful with the ears) during the Miracle of The Ark scene from Raiders of The Lost Ark recently, there was absolutely no distortion of any kind. So I now have the loudest, clearest, warmest, smoothest, least distorted sound I have ever heard in anyone's house, ever.

The color of the finish is not too red, more of a golden cherry wood finish, and the way they're built, they are stunningly beautiful with the grilles off. They actually look better in person than any photo I've seen!

Pros: Absolutely Zero Distortion when turned up extremely loud (with the Yamaha RX-A1000 Receiver). Stunningly Beautiful with Grille off, and matches the Polk Tower Speakers perfectly. Just the right size for the top shelf of a large TV stand.

Cons: None

This is what you call a value speaker, and I don't mean its chintzy. What I mean is they give you everything you want out of a quality speaker and do it as efficiently as possible to result in the lowest price. I couldn't ask for anything more for what I paid, an excellent bang for your buck. It may not be professional quality, but I may not be able to tell the difference, so who cares. It sounds great to my ears. The ordering process was easy. Rhonda was very helpful. I got a scratch and dent model and couldn't even find any visible imperfections. You can order with confidence from Crutchfield.

Pros: Great sound - crisp and clear

Cons: Large, Bulky, Heavy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the Energy Take Classic 5.1 and the little center channel did the system no justice. 90% of your sound comes from the center channel and I needed to do something. The Polk TSi CS20 is large and weighs nearly 20 lbs, but I put it on a Center Stage stand right on top of my 65" plasma and it rocks! No looking back. I also have Polk Audio in the car, and in the master bedroom...they've never let me down. Crutchfield offered no shipping and the lowest price on the market. Amazon didn't even come close!

Pros: Clearity, Nice sound, Crisp, Well built, No distortion with my Pioneer Elite VSX-51 receiver

Cons: Size is big and heavy, but worth it.

Polk Audio TSi CS20

Written by: Rob from Fresno, CA on May 15, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had no idea how infinitely important a quality center channel speaker was until I listened to the TSi-C20. My previous center channel was a satellite from a 5.1 HTS in a box, and it sounded ok, until I hooked up my JBL Studio 190's, which absolutely nullified all of the other satellites, particularly the center with their much bigger, clearer sound. Voices during movies and some songs were especially nonexistent. The TSi-C20 has alleviated all issues entirely. When I hooked this speaker up I had to turn the volume down from about -20 to -30 and my music was still louder but best of all - much, much clearer. It really produces a bridge of high quality sound between my tower speakers. I knew there was a gap in sound in my HTS, but I had no idea how immense it was, but it's been filled entirely by this speaker. Due to my narrow frame of reference concerning other center channel speakers, I'll have to concede that this review is less about the TSi-C20 itself than it is about stressing the importance of a quality center channel speaker. Pick up a good center speaker, any good center speaker that's comarable in size and power handling to your towers or bookshelves and you'll be glad you did.

Pros: Sound, Price, Aesthetics

For the price, you can't buy a better center speaker. Fair price for this speaker is $220, so at this price your getting a steal. No one else has a price even close to this. I haven't put this through the extreme amount of testing I usually do with my other speakers but I can already tell this was a worth it buy. From the testing I have done, the Highs are extremely clear and the mid is solid and unwavering. It handles music with ease and with the few movies I have tested it with ( Iron Man, Star Wars 1,2 & 3, The Matrix) the voice quality was impressive. It provided a full body of sound. The build quality was as expected from a Polk Audio product, great and it looks very modern as well with the black and grey. Overall, I look forward to enjoying this center for years to come.

Pros: Price, quality and performance.

Cons: None found here.

I am a huge Polk fan. I've got a pair of ancient RT12B's that were purchased in the early 80's. I will probably be buried with them. Bought a set of smaller Polks for the rear surround to replace some "junk" speakers, then added this CS20 about 2 weeks ago.

I talked to the tech people at Polk about what center speaker would best go w/ the RT12B's and the CS20 was their first recommendation followed by the CS10. But you can read below where many CS10 buyers wished they'd bought the CS20 upfront- so that's what I did.

The center speaker really helps with dialogue and also broadening the sound stage with pure music- there's no "hole in the middle" with my speakers pushed out a little more than average anymore.

Looking forward to the arrival of my new Onkyo TNXR709 receiver on Monday.

It used to be (back in my college days of the late 70's) that Crutchfield was about 10% higher priced than it's mail-order competitors. Not finding that to be the case anymore. I really appreciate their great articles on setup and their independent testing as well.

Long live Crutchfield. Long live Polk!

Pros: Sound quality, price/value ratio (typical Polk), excellent Crutchfield service!

Cons: That I had to wait so long to get it.

monster speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just received this speaker from Crutchfield today. Hooked it up to my less than awesome receiver and the sound was fantastic. This speaker is a monster. I put in Heaven and Hell Live at Radio City Music Hall and turned the volume way up. There was no distortion and the sound was clear, I was actually afraid to turn it up higher and I like my music loud.

Solid Performer

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A solid performer that looks and sounds well above it's price point. Likely more solid than the cs10 so worth shopping for the right price. Sounds good and improves a lower end system and could probably hold it's own if used in a higher end setup.(being used with only a Pioneer vsx 1020) At the right price it will be money well spent.

I've wanted It For So Long!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This center speaker is essential if you want to hear the dialog coming from your HDTV. I originally owned the CS10 center speaker but it wasn't loud enough. it isn't the fault of the speaker, rather the fault of the mix that the movie engineers choose to make on the movie coupled with the low volume output from my cable company. I've never heard so much mumbling in my life. The large 61/4 woofers in the CS20 speaker addresses this problem. Yea!

I'm using the following Polk speakers as my setup: TSi400's as my front left & rights, the CS20 as my center, TSi100's as my surround left & right, and the OWM3 as my surround back speakers.

My receiver is an Onkyo TX-NR708.

I could never afford this speaker without the sales price at Crutchfield. Thank you Crutchfield.

Good Deal

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The CS20 gives a full range of pleasant sound to the center channel. It deserves 5 stars when compared to speakers in this price range $169. However, it does not give the crisp highs like the Klipsh horned tweeters. Good sound is a personal preference. You should listen to speakers with music or movies you like before purchasing. They do sound different.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product has made me very happy indeed. It sounds cristal clear and has transformed my entertainment experience. I used to have a very small center channel and the sound was just that...small. Now the speech on movies has been enhanced with this center channel. I was able to get this product at a very nice price and free shipping to Puerto Rico...right at my front door. I like Polk Audio products, and I like Crutchfield's service. I am a very happy customer indeed!

Clear sound with no discernible distortion. An excellent value for any home theater
system. I wish I had made the purchase sooner.

Great sounding center channel speaker. Also great complement to the other
Polk speakers I am using in my 3-D home theatre system. Very crisp and
clear. Great visual appeal with the cherry finish. My only advice is to carefully
measure where you will use this speaker since it is a bit larger than some
center channel speakers--but sounds much better as a result! I am very happy
with the speaker!

Polk CS20 Center Channel Speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased the CS20 center to match with TSI 400 mains, TSI 200 surrounds and a
PSW 125 sub. The CS20 definitely focuses the dialog with crisp high's as well
as good midrange. The speaker sounds very good with music as well as movies.

The footprint of the speaker is rather large. I made a shelf to place it above
my 46" Hitachi RPTV which works well. Speaker can be mounted below TV as well.
Definitely recommend this speaker if you have the space for it.

Great speaker, sounds amazing. It is rather large though so make sure you have the
room. If you have the room and want a speaker of this size this one sounds terrific.

Great speaker at a great price

Bought a "scratch and dent" to upgrade my old Polk center channel speaker and
the only thing scratched and dented was the box. Speaker looks and sounds
fantastic. Very nice cherry finish. Clear, powerful sound. Speaker is bigger
than I thought though....

Driver Technology

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized: Using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the speaker structure and cabinet design for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.

High Efficiency Design: Compatible with practically any AV receiver, the center-channel speakers produces sound that is open, spacious and clear, even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers.

Bi-Laminate Composite Woofers: The center-channel speaker features two 6.5" bi-laminate composite (organic fiber) dynamic balance drivers which is light and stiff for deep bass response and low distortion. The multiple smaller driver configuration is capable of better detail than one single large woofer. This design also projects sound over a wider area, so there is a broader "sweet-spot". For high performance and durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk dome Tweeters: The center-channel speaker features a 1.0" silk dome dynamic balance tweeter for detailed highs. Each tweeter features mylar bypass capacitors in the crossovers to extend high frequency response and improve detail and transparency.

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 48Hz-25kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 58-24kHz.

Enclosure Design

Quality Built Cabinets: The TSi speaker cabinets are extensively braced MDF with ¾" thick baffles and have pewter accents, piano black end caps, and a removable black grille. All models are available in a choice of black or cherry wood-grain vinyl finishes.

Narrow Baffle Geometry: Narrow baffle geometry is a design that creates a sleek looking speaker with great sound. First the high quality cabinet is slender and tucks away easily in your room. The smaller-diameter speaker components are lighter in mass, translating to clearer sound.

Flared Ports: All TSi speaker feature Critically Tuned Flared Ports. Flared Ports minimize port noise ("chuffing") and ensure good low frequency extension with low distortion. With Flared Ports, TSi speakers reveal realistic, natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass. The TSi center-channel speaker uses a rear-firing port.

5-Way Binding Posts: The center-channel speaker has a pair of gold-plated 5-way binding posts for a superior connection to your AV receiver.

Mounting Options

Placement: The center-channel speaker should be placed directly above or below your television. The TSi series center-channel speaker is magnetically shielded for safe placement near your TV or video monitor.

Rubber Feet: The center-channel speaker comes with four self-adhesive rubber feet so it will sit securely on your stand or shelf.
