Crystal-clear dialogue. Subtle on-screen sounds. Powerful effects. That's what you can expect from Polk's CS2. It's the ideal center speaker if you're putting together a Polk Monitor home theater speaker system. The CS2 features a 1" Dynamic Balance® dome tweeter and dual 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance woofers. The woofer cones are stiff and lightweight for rich sound and low distortion. You'll love the way this sturdy speaker anchors the movie action to your television picture.

The CS2 is voice-matched to all the speakers in the Polk Monitor line. Team it up with the Monitor 60 or Monitor 70 tower speakers for an impressive front soundstage in a large-room home theater setup. Or match it to the Monitor 40 bookshelf speakers for convincing home theater in smaller rooms.

Center of home theatre

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Polk CS2 finished my home theatre system. Had originally bought the Pro 600 system had a good sound but lacked some definition. First I added Polk Monitor 60's now we had a much bigger sound and put the Pro 600 as surround backs. The Pro 600 center was now the weak spot sounded more broadcast than open and musical, the sound didn't match what I liked about the 60's, smooth full and linear. Once I wired the CS2 the three fronts had a seamless presentation. I'm running the Sony STR DG820 , 110 watts Sony Blue Ray 350 and a Sony LCD 52 Screen. It's not TV it's cinema in my home. The musical quality when listening to CD's also has been a home run also whether it be rock or acoustic the clarity and punch is there. This center speaker is big physically but it fit on the shelf below my screen i flipped so the projection is sent slightly upward toward the listening and viewing area the couch. At low or high volume clarity is always there, big full sound is present at even levels.

Works Well

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent Product. I researched many surround systems and Polk is always the top rated.
I am using as center channel in a dolby digital 5.1, and sound is loud and clear. I paired this with ceiling mounted Polk RC80i's for the front left/right and rear left/right, and for football games it sounds like you are sitting on the 50 yard line!

One word of caution - this is a fairly large speaker - I have installed it inside a built-in and hid it behind speaker cloth, but be sure to measure your space prior to purchase, and be sure it will look good in the place you plan to install.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a set of Polk speakers. Monitor 70's in front, CS2 in middle and 4 Polk in ceiling speakers (RCi 60's) for surrounds. Also I have a PSW 10 sub, withwhich I'll be adding another of the same. Together, this system is awesome sounding. I have a basement room, about 650 sqft, and this speaker really fills the room. It works great for positioning the voices/sounds that are centered on the screen. Also, it's 6.5 in speakers are the same size as all the other Polk mid-base speakers that I have in the room. They handle my Onkyo 100W per ch/7.1 power just fine. @ no volume level did I hear any clipping. (except for that PSW10 sub, who's 50W power is just a little short in such a large room). the only downfall of this speaker is it's size. I'm building my own enclosure, but if I wasn't, this speaker might be a little large @ 8in tall and about 22 inches wide.

Superb Center Speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this center speaker because the dialog of movies with my original center speaker was unclear. Wow, this speaker solves that problem! I can't say enough about the quality and depth of sound present here. I recommend it highly as an excellent way to upgrade the original center speaker that comes with a "system in a box."

Great Sound!!!

I bought this Polk CS2 center channel speaker to replace the one that came with my Polk surround speaker system. I must say - the difference is amazing. Brings the whole sound stage to a more lifelike natural experiance.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Big, strong, well made, sounds great. It is everything I expected. I have no room in for a sub, or surrounds, so I am running a 3.0 setup with this center and a pair of Monitor 60s as my L and R speakers.

I run the home theater audio and the TV audio through the speakers and everything sounds great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

From the minute I hooked up my speaker to my Denon receiver it has been nothing but a pleasant experience! Whether I'm watching a movie or listening to music the speaker delivers the sound with a clear cut punch! The speaker sounds great when paired with few Polk Audio book shelf speakers for a great home theater surround sound system. This speaker gets my 2 thumbs up and I'll definitely recommend it to others. Great Job guys and thanks again Crutchfield for the prompt accurate service........ Raf.

Polk Audio CS2

Written By Tony, Fort Worth,TX on Friday, October 31, 2008

This speaker is AWESOME. I currently have two Polk Monitor 20 tower speakers as my front speakers and I just hooked up the CS2 today. The volume almost doubled! This center sounds so clear and at full volume has very little distortion, almost non-existent. Great frequency response and crisp sound. I HIGHLY recommend this speaker.

Polk Audio CS2

Written By Mr.Allthat, NH on Saturday, October 04, 2008

I bought this center channel to replace a bookshelf I had been using for center duties. The CS2 is a semi-bright and very clear center which lets the vocals cut right through. I was very impressed with its sound quality. I did try it with the monitor 40's I'm using as surrounds. With a sub it would be a great sounding setup, however I don't own one. Currently it is paired with a set of 12's and they go together wonderfully. You only need to turn up the center by 5 or so decibels. This is because the Polks are rated around 90 dB and the 12's are 96+ dB. Also my system runs of a Denon avr-1705 which is only 75 watts x 7. I am upgrading to a Denon avr-2809ci. I hope to see a significant improvement in sound quality and a slight volume boost.

Lastly the finish: I love the cherry color, it is beautiful and matches my stereo console and flooring. I am not too fond of the silver face behind the grill, but I didn't want to pay for the next series up. The silver does match my 57" and my cable box.

This center speaker will blow you away!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This center channel speaker really completed my sound system. I had 2 monitor 40 speakers a PSW12, powered by my Sony STR-DG500. The two monitor 40's were having trouble producing crisp sound at very high volumes. I decided to purchase two more monitor 40's and opted for the CS2. The center channel added so much more voice clarity and crisper sound at high volume and the 6.5" drivers really help to produce hard hitting bass. This speaker will handle 175 watts, let me tell you at about 100 watts this thing will blow your ears off! I have not heard one bit of distortion from this speaker.

The only minor complaint I have about the speaker is the shape of the slanted box. My plans were to have my computer monitor on top of the center channel, but due to the slanted top, I had to make a metal stand to support my monitor.

All in all this is one heck of a speaker and is well worth the price, you won't be disappointed.

Great Spealer

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a great addition to my sound system, having listened to many center channel speakers and being unimpressed I decided to try this one... wow it sounds very nice... placed next to my huge front channel speakers and using some nice surround speakers this center works excellent. The vocals are amazing and the large woofers provide punchy base... only downside... price... expensive but if you want a very nice speaker to complete your system buy it.

center channel to make a difference

Written By Serge, Philladelphia, PA on Sunday, May 29, 2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Polk CS2 is a center channel speaker that can make a huge difference in your sound system. When I upgraded my 5 channel speakers to Polk, the most pronounced difference was in the center channel. Perhaps it was the change from 4" drivers to dual 6.5" drivers, or perhaps it was some secret of engineering. Either way, most of us use the center channel most. Whether watching television or movies or listening to music in Dolby Digital. The center channel is worth the money. Voice reproduction is most of what you hear while watching movies, or television. It is the core of a surround system.
The Polk produces excellent reproduction and will bring reality to your living room.

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Polymer Composite Woofers: The speaker features two lightweight, yet stiff Bi-Laminate composite woofers with good damping, giving you high efficiency, excellent bass, and low distortion. For high performance durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk/Polymer Tweeter: The speaker has a 1" fabric/polymer dome tweeter that provides clear, detailed highs. The tweeter uses a heat sink on the Neodymium magnet for superior heat dissipation, power handling and reliability.

Acoustically Inert Cabinet: The speaker cabinet features all-MDF construction with internal bracings that virtually eliminate sound-muddying resonance.

Reversible Design: If the speaker must be positioned below ear level, you can turn the cabinet upside down, allowing the drivers to fire upward.

Port: There is a single critically-tuned port opening on the rear of the speaker that has low port noise for increased and extended bass response.

5-Way Binding Posts: The gold-plated 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Magnetically Shielded: The speaker is magnetically shielded, allowing you to place it on your television without distorting the picture.

Frequency Response Note: The overall frequency response is 55Hz-25kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 60-24kHz.
