Polk Audio CSi3

John Sokolich from USA on 11/25/2012

this is what makes the difference in any surround sound system, without a good center channel speaker you won't be able to enjoy true sound.the csi3 has definitely proved to be the best choice for this task and when complimented with front channel speakers and subwoofer of the same breed(polk audio brand) you couldn't ask for more."awesome"

Pros: Very responsive to high and lows, crisp and clear, very nice looking.you should get one.

Cons: NONE ...THAT I KNOW!!!!

Great Sound!

Really Great Sounding Center Channel

Andrew F from New York City on 6/14/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This CSi3 center channel is an excellent match for my RTi4 Polk Audio speakers. The sound compliments my AVR system really well especially with my Harman Kardon AVR 1650 Receiver. The price I paid was quite reasonable and the delivery came in 2 days with free shipping. It was my first purchase from Crutchfield and after the order came I went ahead and ordered three Monster M850 HDMI cables also.I'll probably be a repeat customer.

Pros: Great sound quality and many connection options.

Cons: None

A definite improvement over the Infinity center speaker i had. Wonderful highs, mids and lows especially since its teamed up with a Denon 1912.

Pros: Excellent clarity whether its music or movies. Would recommend to all that need a good center speaker. You get what you pay for. Don't settle for less.

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered the CSi3 to complete my system, already had the RTi8 front speakers. First from an appearance standpoint, this is a sharp looking speaker. Matches my towers perfectly. I already loved the sound of my system even though I didn't have a center-channel. Had I know previously what a difference this addition would make, I would have bought it long ago. The fullness and richness of the sound is amazing. Very happy I bought this.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have to tell you, I was very hesitant about going with such a large speaker for a center channel but with some brackets it fit just over my plasma and does not look as big this way. The sound is amazing, I went from an Onkyo 7.1 channel package, the reciever is great bu the speakers left something to be desired. I put this speaker in the wimpy cneter channels place, WOW the difference is amazing I hear everything adn the mid bass provided is great, and not too much tweeter like from amny other center speakers. I don;t knwo why some people have an issue with this becuase the deatil is incredible adn this is matched with two polk Ti100 bookshelves as my fronts, incredible differnece A+ design and sound just make sure you use good qaulity wiring.

Pros: Mid bass, broad frequency range, easy to saound match, looks awesome.

Cons: Sort of big but if you knw what your doing you can figure it out.

sweet thing

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Recently purchased some RTi4's to upgrade my surround speaker and I am going to add the CSi3 as my rear center to complete my 6.1 system. These are replacing the Bose cube system. What an improvement!!! Have Polk RTi8's as my fronts,CSi3 center, PSW505 SW, RTi4's in the rear and another CSi3 as rear center. Hope the neighbors move.

Pros: I have owned this center channel speaker for about 2 yrs now and have never been disappointed with its performance and the cherry wood is impressive also.

Cons: Absolutely nothing!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this a couple weeks ago to improve the quality of the vocal element from my center channel. I have been very pleased with the performance of this unit for movies. I have not been impressed with its abilities as a component in all-channel music output - but did not expect much in that regard. It is also a very attractive in the cherry finish.

Great center channel!

MarkD from Knoxville, TN on 1/28/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Polk CSi3 is a great center channel speaker! Dialogue is very clear, the treble is crisp, and there's a surprising amount of bass too. It works especially well if you already have other Polk speakers, as this speaker will blend in seamlessly with them. The real wood finish is also very nice and makes the speaker look more expensive than it really is. Highly recommended - grab one while you can.

CMan2007 from Beaufort, SC on 12/20/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the CSi3 to replace my Sony center and also purchased the RTi4 bookshelf speakers to replace my front L/R speakers. Also purchased an Onkyo SR607 to replace my 5+ yr old 5.1 Sony. The best purchase yet for my home theater. I now use the Sony fronts for my high front for 7.1. Movies couldn't sound more real and music couldn't get any louder. I've heard Bose systems in houses before and I think its a lot of bark with not much bite. Polk Audio has made some spectacular speakers and the CSi3/RTi4 combo really talks to your ear. The voices in movies are deep and rich and with the volume up a little more than a quite conversation you can here all details in a movie or any music.

Paired the CSi3 with 2 pair of RTi4s and a PSW110 and everything, TV, stereo or DVDs (even video games) sounds great. My 17x24' room is filled with amazing sound.

Cons:

Beautiful looking and sounding

KO from Minneapolis, MN on 12/19/2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced a mid end home theater in a box system with a high end Denon amp, the CSi3 in the center, Rti4 for the front L/R, FXi3 in the rear, & a PSW10 sub. Voices are very clear and accurate with the CSi3 and I have been unable to distort this speaker in any movie I've tried. I debated on a CS2, but it did not match the RTi series and the CSi5 was too deep to fit in my home theater setup. I had a chance to hear the CS2 before I bought the CSi3, and the CSi3 is every bit as good as the CS2. I was afraid the 5.25" speakers would not give the depth and range of the 6.5" models, which is technically true, but I could not see a speaker as big as a CSi5 on my wall. This is the best sounding speaker for the money available.

Cons:

Clear and bright

EduardoB from Amherst, NH on 10/15/2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm using this with a pair of RTi70s and a PSW505 subwoofer for home theater. This speaker adds great dimension to the overall audio track, delivering crisp, clean sound. I really appreciate how you can tip it upside down to face the speakers up, which enables me to place it in a shelf just below the television. (I really don't want to have the center channel speaker above the television.) Nice cherry cabinet, too. Looks great! Nice price.

Cons:

Great match to the Rti4

mike from Hawaii on 6/5/2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had this speaker for about a month now. Its powered by a Yamaha rxv-2500 (130watts x 7).
The Csi3 for a center seemed like a good deal and it looks good on top of my 57" sony
it sounds ok. the lows are there but sound hollow and the highs are a little screechy like fingernails on a chalkboard (makes some voices to be annoying)
it doesn't distort at high volume, but distorts at a lower volume than the rest of my speakers. even with the ypao set up. I took a 5 1/4 driver out of the enclosure just to see if there was a crossover. there is one and some plastic filler (should have probably used different material to fill the enclosure to deaden the hollow sound of the enclosure)

Just finishing hooking up this little beauty and it sounds amazing for the price.
The Movie dialogue that this center reproduces is amazing compared to some of the others I have listened to in the $400 range.
If you dont have the power for a bigger center, this is the one to have.

Superb entry level center .

Jeff from Calif on 3/26/2005

I have the CSi3 in a small bedroom HT setup . This is a very nice entry level center that puts others to shame in and above its price range . Quality is outstanding with an excellant real wood finish . Just the wieght of this center alone shows its quality at 20-22lbs . For the price/quality and clear sound , this center is very hard to beat . I have black center and its is very very nice looking but the cherry finish is flat out GORGEOUS (wish I had the cherry instead). Highly recommend the CSi3 .

Cons:

Crisp sound

Mark from Morganville, NJ on 2/21/2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After researching speaker information for my system I decided on going with Polk Audio. This CSi3 center channel offers crystal clear sound specifically with great highs and very good lows. This held true when I turned the volume way up and pushed it; very crisp the whole way through. If physical space is an issue, be cognizant of the size.
Overall, I am very pleased with this speaker and would recommend it highly.

Features

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Polymer Composite Woofers: The speaker features two polymer composite woofers for smooth wide-range response with low distortion. For high performance durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk/Polymer Tweeter: The speaker has a 1" silk/polymer dome tweeter that provides clear, detailed highs. The tweeter uses a heat sink on the Neodymium magnet for superior heat dissipation, power handling and reliability.

Acoustically Inert Cabinet: The speaker cabinet features all-MDF construction with internal bracings that virtually eliminate sound-muddying resonance.

Reversible Design: If the speaker must be positioned below ear level, you can turn the cabinet upside down, allowing the drivers to fire upward.

Port: There is a single port tube opening on the front of the speaker for increased and extended bass response.

Anti-Diffraction Grille: The floating anti-diffraction grille minimizes grille diffraction for spacious, 3-dimensional imaging.

5-Way Binding Posts: The gold-plated 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Magnetically Shielded: The speaker is magnetically shielded, allowing you to place it on your television without distorting the picture.

Note

Frequency Response Note: The overall frequency response is 55Hz-27kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 65-26kHz.
