WITH ANY HDTV SYSTEM HOW CLEAR THE DIALOG IS REPRODUCED IS BASIC TO THE ENJOYMENT OF THE DVD OR CD SELECTED. IF THE VOICES ARE NOT CLEAR YOUR NEVER GOING TO FULLY ENJOY YOUR SYSTEM. THIS MEANS THAT YOU BETTER HAVE A QUALITY CENTER CHANNEL IF YOU WANT YOUR SYSTEM TO PERFORM IT'S BEST. MY WIFE AND I ARE NOT AS YOUNG ANYMORE AND HEARING CLEARLY BECOMES AN IMPORTANT ISSUE WITH HOW WELL WE ENJOY WHATEVER MOVIE, OR CD WE SELECT.
I RESEARCHED ALOT BEFORE I PURCHASED ALL POLK AUDIO VOICE MATCHED SPEAKERS FOR MY SYSTEM. THE CSI5 I FEEL IS THE MAIN SPEAKER I HAD TO ENSURE WAS CLEAR AND BOLD FOR US TO FULLY ENJOY OUR SYSTEM. IT'S EVERYTHING I WANTED IN A CENTER CHANNEL. THE VOICES ARE CLEAR AND THE STYLE IS RIGHT FOR OUR SYSTEM. I'D RECOMMEND TO ANYONE TO CONSIDER POLK AUDIO'S CSI5 CENTER CHANNEL.

Good all around sound

So I decided to upgrade my Sony SS-V130 cubes and SA-W303 sub to some bigger/better speakers. After many hours of research Polk stood out as the speaker of choice. Here was the planned setup. Front 2: RTi8's; Center: CSi5; Rear 2: RTi4's; and Sub: PSW12. After installing this center channel I was amazed! This is one serious speaker! It's HUGE and produces a lot of sound! The cherry wood is amazingly beautiful and adds that extra "high quality" look to the speaker, I love it. I've already said it produces a LOT of sound, but, after 25 days (no joke) of trying to tweak my Yamaha HTR-5890 receiver to make this speaker sound just perfect, I had to give up. It produces perfect midrange, mediocre to poor bass, and slightly above average highs. It's perfect for anyone looking to have a full "all-around" sound. What I learned was that my ears like the cube sound much better (Bose type speakers) that's to say I like the highs and upper mids coming from one speaker and the mid-lows and bass coming from another speaker. Again, it's great for giving you the feeling of "all-in-one" sound, but to me that all-in-one sound seemed a little muffled no matter how I tweaked my system. The voices were not clear enough and other highs seemed to mild/muffled. I wanted to hear clearer sounds with crisp distinction between the sounds. If your like me and upgrading from a cube system, be sure to listen to this before buying it, or make sure to keep your box for the 30 day return policy Crutchfield offers (which I did and they were super friendly about it). By the way I used this only for home theater, and if you get it, bi-wire, it makes it sound extra sweet!

i bought this speaker (here) after hearing the competition (including lsi) at a big box store. there is no better one in the clarity and seperation of the sound by instrument, voice, etc. at this price and power level. i voice matched it with rti10 and rti6 for surround and SACD (at crutchfield's suggestion) no subwoofer, this carries a lot of bass. it is great to hear the soundstage effect of the singer's voice, like they are standing directly in front of you. the subtle nuances you will hear in music you thought you knew are stunning at any volume level. yes, lsi have a wall of sound, but you have to step up to bigger amp, etc. and i would say a place in the country so as not to disturb your neighbors. always buy from crutchfield, its the best in service, advice, selection.

Very nicely matched to the Monitor 70's. Very good quality for the price. You will not go wrong with this speaker.
