Driver Technology

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Polymer Composite Woofers: The speaker features two 5-1/4" polymer composite woofers for smooth wide-range response with low distortion. For high performance durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround and an acoustically inert stamped driver basket.

Silk/Polymer Tweeter: The speaker has a 1" silk/polymer dome tweeter that provides clear, detailed highs. The tweeter uses a heat sink on the Neodymium magnet for superior heat dissipation, power handling and reliability.

Frequency Response Note: The overall frequency response is 55Hz-27kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 65-25kHz.

Enclosure Design

Acoustically Inert Cabinet: The speaker cabinet features all-MDF construction with extensive internal bracings that virtually eliminate sound-muddying resonance.

Port: There is a single port tube opening on the front of the speaker for increased and extended bass response.

Anti-Diffraction Grille: The floating anti-diffraction grille minimizes grille diffraction for spacious, 3-dimensional imaging.

Connections

5-Way Binding Posts: The gold-plated 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Mounting Options

Reversible Design: If the speaker must be positioned below ear level, you can turn the cabinet upside down, allowing the drivers to fire upward.

Magnetically Shielded: The speaker is magnetically shielded, allowing you to place it on your television without distorting the picture.

Customer Q&A

10 questions already asked

Q
Could I use this speaker as a subwoofer paired with Polk VT60 ceiling speakers?
steve  Mar 20, 2019

A
The CSi A4 should not be used as a subwoofer, it's recommended as a center channel to deliver a comprehensive range instead of blasting a deep bass frequency. I'd recommend either the Polk PSW110 or PSW10 in the same comparable price range, depending on your preference.
stefan  Mar 20, 2019
A
No. This is meant to be a center channel speaker. It has excellent clarity but is lacking the bass of a proper subwoofer.
thomas  Mar 20, 2019
A
I wouldn't count on the lower range within this speaker, while it picks up the mid to high range beautifully.I would suggest a powered sub that will suffice room size and lower register for total ambience
joe  Mar 20, 2019
A
No not at all... This is a center channel speaker for dialogue.
dan  Mar 20, 2019
A
I do think it would work well at all for a sub wootEnter
ken  Mar 20, 2019
A
I wouldn't recommend it. You will not be happy with the result
russ  Mar 20, 2019
A
I wouldn't recommend it. It isn't deep enough. It sounds great and it's huge. But I wouldn't go less than an 8imch for any sub.
buddy  Mar 20, 2019
A
It is not a subwoofer and can not be used as one. The frequency does not go low enough. It is a good center channel speaker.
jonathan  Mar 20, 2019
A
You would be better off using it to split firewood
adam  Mar 20, 2019
Q
Would this be a good match for the RTiA5 floor standing speakers, or do you need to move up to the CSiA6? My cabinet is not wide enough for the A6 so hoping to go with the A4. Thanks.
chris  Jan 14, 2019

A
Yes, this should work fine.
russ  Jan 15, 2019
A
I run the CSiA4 with a set of RTiA9s and think they pair nicely. It's a great center and have no complaints with my current setup. I was also short on space, and while the A6 is technically a superior speaker.. matching with the RTiA5 would provide you a good balanced sound w/o a doubt.
stefan  Jan 14, 2019
A
I love my A4 but if you can afford the A6, I'd go with that. I have absolutely ZERO complaints with the A4 but I wish I'd gone bigger. It's a fantastic, fantastic speaker but if you can go bigger and have the space for it, I'm sure the A6 will be better.

curtis  May 19, 2018

Oh yeah they pair up perfectly Great Sound I love it sounds like I'm at the movies

Q
Would this be a good match for monitor 60 ii floor standing speakers?.

A
I don't see why not, most of the Polk speakers are supposed to be timbre matched unless you go with something lower end.
mike  May 20, 2018
Q
Would this be a good match for the RTiA7? I don't have enough space for the A6.

A
I would think it will match as well as the A6.
russ  Apr 25, 2018
A
Yes it is a direct match for the RTi speakers
jonathan  Apr 25, 2018
A
Sorry, I looked at the RTiA7, but I don't know a definitive answer. These Polk center speakers are fairly large, so be sure the AF fits where you want to place it. IMHO, it WOULD be a good match. Clarity and sound is great. BP
robert  Apr 25, 2018
A
Yes - excellent choice
anthony  Apr 25, 2018
Q
I have a smaller media/theatre area. I have installed your RCi 65 in wall speakers for the rear and was wondering what would pair with them for the fronts. I like the flexability of the Owm3's or I could use the Rci 65 again. Also need a center channel. What do you think of your CSiA4 and would all of this pair ok on a 5:1 system?

Thanks for your question! For a more personalized recommendation tailored to your needs, preferences and budget, you would be best served contacting an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Q
how would it sound standing on its end,my center shelf is only 11" wide?
mark  Oct 12, 2015
1 answer
A
You have asked an interesting question. So, I tuned my speaker on its end to learn how to answer your question. The best answer is no however, since I have several small items standing in front of my speaker more of the sound comes through into my room when it is standing on end. The sound projection is less restricted but only because my small objects are not in the way of the sound any longer.
george  Oct 14, 2015
Q
Does this center channel include a wall mount?
donald  Aug 15, 2014

A
It has two holes in back to mount to wall no specific brackets with speaker
michael  Aug 16, 2014
A
No, there is no wall mount option. You will need to install a shelf.
cynthia  Aug 16, 2014
A
No, it doesn't.
tian  Aug 16, 2014
A
No, but it's an excellent center speaker.
sheila  Aug 16, 2014
A
no
william t  Aug 15, 2014
A
No, it us a shelf speaker. Don't know if they might have a wall mount for it but mine does not. I recommend the speaker.
gary  Aug 15, 2014
A
No wall bracket, but the speaker lugs are offset and recessed so that you could attach one. If I was going to put it on a wall I would set it on a small, decorative shelf. Fortunately I have the tools with which to make one.
maurice n  Aug 15, 2014
Q
The shelf for my center speaker is only 10" deep. Would this one sound ok with the back of the speaker against the back of my cabinet?
steve  Feb 19, 2015
11 answers
A
That shouldn't be an issue as the back is sealed. Mines actually on a bottom shelf so I turned the speaker upside down to direct sound upward into the center of the room~
christopher  Feb 21, 2015
A
It shouldn't really affect the sound. This is an enclosed speaker and it sounds and looks great.
anthony j  Feb 20, 2015
A
Thanks for the quick reply!
steve  Feb 20, 2015
A
Thanks Edward!
steve  Feb 20, 2015

My A4 Cherry sits on my fire place mantle which is 12" deep and I have it all the way back against my stone wall. I am impressed with the sound that I get from this center channel. The sound will be directed straight toward the listening area.
ronald  Feb 20, 2015
A
I also have a narrow shelf for this speaker. I don't believe you will have any problems. It's a great speaker for center channel.
leslie  Feb 20, 2015
A
Absolutely, because the bass port is in the front and all the sounds are coming towards the listening area. This center channel speaker is awesome!
doran  Feb 20, 2015
A
I feel placing the speaker in the back of the cabinet would degrade the sound quality. With the speaker placed just inside the opening,at the edge of the shelf you will be able to enjoy the quality of the Polk speaker. That's just my opinion.
gene  Feb 20, 2015
A
Yes, I am using this as a center channel Speaker mounted in a sliding drawer in my cabinet. It is approx 10" deep & just tall enough for the speaker. I am using it with a pair of Polk Audio Towers in the front & Mirage Speakers in the back. The sound is excellent & I am very happy with it.
edward  Feb 20, 2015
A
i believe so-mine is in a cabinet with only a few inches to spare and it sounds great
judd  Feb 20, 2015
A
It comes in a solid heavy box I think it would be fine , mine sits in a cabinet and it sounds great!
