The in-line crossover allows only the appropriate frequencies to pass to the tweeters, while built-in protection circuitry guards against tweeter overload. You can flush- or surface-mount the tweeters with the included mounting cups.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install these tweeters in the factory locations.

Q
If my Chevy Trailblazer doesn't have factory tweeters is there a way I can still wire these in?

Yes you can. Find a location where u want to mount them and place your crossover behind the door panel. Connect the tweeters and the speakers on the designated -+ of the crossover.

I would recommend using Polk's db5251 if it will fit as it includes 5.25" main speakers with crossovers and tweeters as a system approach. The trouble with using the tweeter by themselves is the highs won't be directed to them without the crossovers. More expense but not a waste of money. The system is on sale too! Good luck.

Yes. Wire them to front speakers but be sure to use the bass blockers included with the tweeters

Q
What does cutting the yellow wire loop on the cross over do? Does it reduce distortion even more?
jordan  Apr 29, 2016
1 answer
A
Cutting the yellow wire loop reduces the tweeter's output by 3dB. I suppose this could also reduce distortion as well, but I believe it's main function would be a reduction in "brightness". Personally I'd leave it be and live with it a while - if the tweeter seems like too much you could cut the wire and reduce the output. Hope this helps. By the way, I didn't cut mine and I've been very happy. I believe you are more likely to distort bass speakers than tweeters.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe with the basis 6 speaker sound system. Are the db1001's a direct plug and play substitution for the factory front tweeters using the in-line cross-over?

For additional details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

Q
When mounting the tweeters in the supplied flush mounts, can the small screw from the metal bracket be screwed into the back of the tweeter to hold it in place? Or does it just snap into the plastic cup? Or how are the tweeters held in place for a flush mount.

Man it's been too long since I put them in to be of sure. But if I remember correctly the tweeter snaps into the supplied flush mount cup. The cup has to screw to the supplied bracket behind the panel you flush mount into. You have a few degrees that you can angle the tweeter in the flush cup. To get it right to that sweet spot.

I have a 2002 pt cruiser with polk audio in front and back, just need to add the dash speakers. I was looking at the polk audio db1001 1" tweeters. Is there a bracket or mount that you sell that can be used for my install?

I brought the polk audio db1001 1inch tweeters for my 07 Tacoma and they work great. The tweeters comes with mounting brackets but i had to get on taco tunes to buy brackets to bolt the tweeters on. I uses the tweeter cups and the taco tune brackets. (Note if you use the cups put three pieces of electrical tape to make a tight fit.) Hope this helps. I never put speakers in a pt cruiser. Good luck man.

This comes with 2 different styles of mounting brackets. You should be good to go.

I put these in the dash of my Mercedes G500. The speakers come with a plastic holding bracket. This did not work in my G , so I cut the factory bracket from the factory speakers and glued the factory bracket to the new Polk bracket to make it work. I love the speakers. Good luck with your install. Alex G

I installed my Polk tweeters in a 91 Toyota pickup. I'm not sure about your specific installation, but these tweeters do come with surface mount and flush mount hardware. I installed mine flush mount which did require modification to mounting area..ie: drilling holes. But everything I needed for the mounting was in the box, brackets, cups, etc. They do an excellent job, sound good!

Jonathan, The db1001's allow two methods of mounting: you can either use the supplied external brackets, or, as I did on a 2013 F150, the door pillars allow a flush mounting also. Only problem is that you have to use a 2" hole saw for the opening. They are great add-on tweeters. You will not be disappointed.

Q
I have a P65C sound ordinance component system and would like to swap out the tweeter for this. Any issue connecting this tweeter direct to the sound ordinance crossover?
mike  Mar 12, 2014

A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The Polk tweeters have a built in crossover on them so they won't be compatible with the Sound Ordnance crossover or component set. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
