Good music becomes great when you hear it through Polk's db Series car speakers. Polk engineers use laser imaging to determine the ideal combination of speaker materials and design to eliminate distortion. The resulting technology produces speakers with smooth frequency response, sharp detail, and the ability to play music at high volumes without strain.
Polk's db461 speakers feature 4"x6" woofers made from a polymer/mica composite and durable rubber surrounds that won't fall apart under stress from heat, moisture, or time. Liquid-cooled 3/4" silk/polymer dome tweeters use powerful Neodymium magnets to deliver precise high-frequency reproduction, enveloping you in bright musical detail. The built-in two-way crossovers keep the high and low frequencies flowing to the proper drivers for seamless, efficient audio.
All db Series speakers feature stainless steel mounting hardware. Whether you've got a factory radio or aftermarket stereo, these efficient speakers will spice up your daily commute. And Polk certifies their db Series speakers for marine applications, so they're a great choice for your boat, motorcycle, or ATV.

I replaced some other speakers with these and couldn't be happier. I have these matched with the 5.25 version along with a Boston Acoustics 10 inch sub in my 2004 Jeep Wrangler. The sound is amazing! Crutchfield delivered them quickly along with free brackets and wire harnesses. My head unit is a Kenwood Media Player that I plug my 80g iPod Classic into. To anyone reading this review. It's possible to get good sound in a Jeep. Thanks Crutchfield for supplying my sound!!
Pros: Excellent sound, extra gear to help with the installation, saving money by doing this myself. Fast shipping, correct order, great tech support and follow up via email.
great compact speaker with built in tweeter. good clear sound!
Pros: built in tweeter.
Amazing sound !! Better than what came in my vehicle by far.
Pros: Amazing product with awesome support!!
Rich clean sound. Perfect for my 04 siliverado
Pros: All good
These sound great as replacements for my blown dash speakers. Great volume on stock radio, but I'm sure they would sound even better with an amplifier.
I picked these speakers for their sensitivity since they're being fed by the factory head unit and I haven't been disappointed. The sound is clear and distinct--every nuance is discernible. The baffles that Crutchfield recommends for my installation location (the c-pillars in a 2013 Silverado regular cab) do seem to improve the sound. At the very least, a little weather stripping between the mounts and the sheet metal should be used to cut down on vibration in this location.
Pros: Sensitivity, clarity, volume even from a low-powered factory head unit.
Cons: None so far.
These had a little less bass than the stock speakers but highs and voice are much clearer. They were about 4dB louder, measured at the speaker, over stock using the factory GM radio at half volume.
Pros: Better high's and improved voice.
Cons: Actually, less bass than stock.
I replaced my stock speakers in my jeep wrangler with these. Sound is much better. They look to be well built.
Bought these along with some other Polk's to replace the stock speakers in my Jeep Wrangler. Huge upgrade, fit perfectly. Easy install. As usual, Crutchfield sent all the little extras needed for my vehicle for free.
Pros: Great deal for the money. Easy install.
They sound great huge improvement over factory
I had a pair of 4x6 Kickers and they didn't sound very good in the extended cab doors of my pickup. I have 6 3/4 in the cab doors. I installed a pair of scratch and dent that I got at a REALLY good price. They complete my sound system in my truck and perform beautifully.
Outstanding ,easy install ,instant and excellent sound quality difference !
Pros: Easy install perfect fit for the truck
Great Speaker for the price. Was a easy install and sounds pretty good
Pros: Great mid and highs
Cons: Bottoms out on the bass
Easy to install, very good sound, great for rock and roll.
Pros: Awesome treble and mid sounds
Cons: Can't handle heavy bass
These were easy to install - took less than a hour to install in read doors of 2002 GMC Sierra. For a relatively small speaker, I'm very happy with the results. I still have to do some final tweaking/tuning of the amp feeding them, but in the meantime, the head unit controls are more than adequate. Huge difference over the stock paper-based OEM units. I expect these to last better too.
Pros: good value & performance.
Cons: none yet.
The OE speakers in the back doors of my '06 Silverado were barely listenable. They were mushy/muddy, lacked definition. Already have component spkrs in the front doors. Having gotten accustomed to clear, articulate high quality home speakers, & Kenwood & Infinity speakers (also from Crutchfield) in my Toyota, I knew I could do way better with some aftermarket spkrs. I read the customer reviews on a number of 4X6" that would fit the door panels of my truck. All the reviewers of these Polk spkrs agreed the db461's are some of the best sounding, marine certified & more efficient (91db 1W/1M) high quality vehicle spkrs in this size. After installing & living with them for a couple of weeks, I wd agree with the customer reviews. They are clear, detailed, & well defined. It sounds better everywhere in the cab of this truck now, They complement the component front door spkrs. very well. (They lack bass, I didn't expect much from 4X6's.) These are my first Polk spkrs., but won't be my last.
Pros: Sound great, installed easily.
Cons: Lacks bass, nothing a small subwoofer wouldn't cure.
These are excellent speakers with crisp, clear highs and solid mids! Located in the rear doors of my vehicle, they deliver the rhythm sound needed to allow the front speakers to take over the leads. The construction is SOLID. The rear doors are open/closed often and so I installed these speakers with the optional foam baffles to help absorb some of the shock when the doors are closed. I chose these speakers to withstand the elements, and as of now, I'm very impressed with the SOUND!
Pros: Durable construction, clear highs, sturdy mids.
Cons: None so far.
Great sound in a small package!!!
Pros: Easy mount.
I have a vintage Porsche 993/911 Carrera coupe and the OEM Nokia rear package shelf hi-fi speakers finally vaporized and needed to be replaced. I looked at, and purchased 4 different brands of 4x6 and plate speakers before I purchased the Polk's. By far, these speakers are the clearest, cleanest and punchiest of the lot. They have turned my old Porsche system into something pretty special. I am using no outboard amp -- just the power from the factory stock Becker CDR-210 head unit. Sounds fantastic. The Polks are paired with Focal 5.25 component door speakers.
Pros: Very affordable, robust build quality, sensational power handling and sound.
Cons: Bottom mount on the Porsche deck may require some modification to ensure correct fit.
I installed these in a 98 Jeep Wrangler....Love the sound and the installation was simple.... Would recommend these to all my friends!
Pros: Installation simple
Cons: None so far!
Put these in an 04 Wrangler Limited. Way better than stock, and by placing the tweeter in the center rather than off to the side, you get a larger speaker cone for the mids/lows. No speaker this size is going to give you booming bass; its just not possible. However with the factory sub in the console, these things really clear up the sound and make your tunes sound great. They are very efficient and I couldn't be happier. With the adapter it took about 15 minutes to put them both in.
Picked these up to replace the existing stock units that had finally failed. These new speakers are amazing. While the lows are minimal, the mids and highs are very crisp. Very, very happy I made the move.
Pros: Easy to install, great sounding
Great front speaker on 1981 Vette. Nice sound, handles 45 watts just fine and just drop in fit.
Pros: great sound drop in fit with no alterations and stock factory grill--PERFECT for 81 Vette
These are great speakers fit right in my single cab 96 chevy truck with no issues. sound great matched up with the 61/2' polk door speakers my ride sounds good again.
Pros: Buy them there a great replacement
These speakers are clear sounding; I'm using them with an Alpine CD player. Installation was extremely easy. They appear to be well-bulit & fit the vehicle ('02 Chevy Silverado 2500HD extended cab) perfectly. I also used the speaker baffles that the sales advisor recommended. The baffles are *Awesome.* Crutchfield sent everything needed for a perfect installation experience. Sales advisor was incredible- very knowledgeable.
Pros: Very clear sound. Price was excellent. Crutchfield instructions was exceptional.
These speakers are great! Fit perfectly in my truck. 2001 GMC Z71 extra cab. I'm using an Alpine CD player with a power pack and component system. Additionally I have a 10" powered subwoofer that fits under the back seat. This system works great. Most importantly the customer service is hands down the best!
Great sound easy installation in the rear doors of a 2000 GMC K2500
Pros: Great sound Great Value Easy installation
I bought these to replace the aging paper speakers in the front of my '06 Wrangler. I decided not to use the supplied adapter rings to mount the speakers as that left a wide open space behind them and that seemed to make the bass suffer a bit so, I reused the original enclosures (after I modified them) and the speakers are now so much better than stock!
Pros: Excellent sound quality
Great 4x6 speakers to compliment the db651s I installed earlier in the doors of my 2011 GMC Sierra. The combination provides crisp highs and generous clear bass. All words in the music on my MP3 devices are clear and distinct. I highly recommend the db461s especially when combined with the db651s!
Pros: Price and quick delivery
Awesome sound in my truck now.
Cons: Wasn't free :)
Bought these as a direct replacement for the factory speakers in our 2006 Silverado. Most people will tell you that no one makes a good 4x6 speaker. I have to say that I was pleasantly suprised with the sound from these. Not bad and a huge upgrade from the factory speakers.
Pros: Good sound and easy to install.
Cons: None so far.
These little speakers pack a punch!
Pros: Sound awesome! Excellent replacement in my 04 Silverado
Sound quality is good. Would by Again.
Better than factory but far from anything special. Have good power going to them, but the speakers just can't push out undistorted sound. Unfortunately, I am limited to this size in the vehicle application (Jeep).
Pros: Marine rated (good for a jeep that will get wet)
Cons: Sound quality better than stock, but not great.
Good, economical replacement speakers for the front of a Jeep. Very easy to install. The supplied wiring harness & directions made the process very easy.
Pros: Good sound quality. Easy installation.
They replaced the 1999 factory speakers along with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X796 head unit. Sound improved but didn't get the depth and clarity I was hoping for. Granted, these are small speakers but I was hoping for a better sound - maybe I was just expecting too much. Fair speaker and fair price.
Pros: Better than stock.
Cons: No bass.
Quality shows in this speaker. It's very efficient and a very good replacement over factory speakers
Pros: Direct fit and Great sound for my Silverado.
Bought these to replace the rear speakers in my 2005 Chevy Silverado. Had to drill 1/8" holes for screws to mount, but other than that, installation was simple. Crutchfield is second to none in customer service, even sending detailed and pictured instructions on how to install in your specific vehicle. I won't buy auto sound from anyone else! The speakers sound amazing compared to the old ones. I also bought the 6 1/2" Kenwoods for the front door speakers... also outstanding sound.
I bought these for my 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500HD to match the Polk db651 speakers I bought for the doors. The sound from the stock stereo is great now. Prior to installing these, you barely heard the rear speakers but now you truly have the cab filled with clear sound. I also purchased the baffles for the speakers that are inexpensive but well worth it. I didn't want to change the stereo or add an amp and these speakers have really met and exceeded my expectation.
Excellent speaker for the price!
Polk speakers always have great imaging and great highs that are not harsh. Bass is decent for such a small speaker. They do lack some midrange
Installed in the dash on 1999 S-10 blazer. Same quality of sound sound and volume as Alpine S series I have in my other truck. 4x6 will fit in a Blazer if you shave the mounting hole about 1.8 inch around factory speaker plate location and only takes about 3 minutes per speaker. Good value and will work great on low power factory radio.
I am still using the factory C/D player with digital encoder, so my expectations are low. The speaker baffles were installed with these speakers in the rear corner posts of a regular cab truck. All fit easily, couldn't fit any bigger speakers there. I would say a bit too much high end frequency response. (tinny) But have to accept a small speaker package due to tight installation area. I did install bigger units in the door panels that worked out well. I give a 4 because of low bass response. A big improvement from the original speakers, especially for THD at any volume including AM talk radio. Would recommend if you are looking for a good value, ease of installation, and hopes of upgrading the over all bass using some other unit else where in the truck.
These speakers fit just fine and they sound great, too. Big improvement over the original Delco dealies that were replaced.
I gave these Polks 4 out 5 stars only because they're not super high-end speakers. But they're definitely worth the money, and are really a good value, in my opinion.
Got 'em hooked up to an Alpine 9884. With Kickers in the doors, I'm ready for some tunes!
For a 4 x 6 the sound quality was suprisingly good. The speakers look cheap with its stamped steel basket and I had concerns about distorting the basket as I tighened it in place of the factory 4 x 6. I am running these off an Apline CDA-9886 head unit. I would definatly recommed these as a replacement 4 x 6 speaker. They were much better than the Infinity's I bought for the rear. The sound is crisp just not qite as full as I would like, but then again there not 6 1/2" compent speakers either. Over all very good for the price. I am going to purchase the XTC 4"x6" Speaker Baffles to see if that helps bring out some midrange to warm the sound up a little.
Sound better than the Alpines I bought for the rear. I think I blew one of the speakers though and/or it came loose from its housing in the door panel so I gotta check that.
These things can serve all sorts of purposes. They are small enough to be
crammed into the tight holes of older-model GM trucks, which is no easy
feat using more effecient plate type speakers like the Polk Momo MMC460
which normally have larger magnets. Their size and marinized properties
also make them ideal for installing on golf carts inside the storage bins.
Produce good, clean sound that can hit a pretty high volume before
distorting, though not ideal for amplified systems.
These are a pretty decent pair of speakers. They are budget friendly, and are an easy way to upgrade your stock speakers. I used them first on just aftermarket h/u power (22 watts rms) and they aren't very pleasing. I then purchased an Alpine MRP-F250 (40 watts rms x 4) and they sounded great. They aren't the best of course but a good speaker nonetheless. I have owned these, Infinity Kappa plate 4" x 6"s and Polk Audio Momo plate 4" x 6" speakers. They have some midbass, and they have a tweeter which is always a good thing. IMO, if you're considering buying a pair of these speakers, pay $20 more on this site to upgrade to the Polk Audio Momo plate 4" X 6"s. These are better than the Kappas because the Kappas run at 2 ohms, which gives you more power, but a great deal more THD (total harmonic distortion).

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.
Woofer Cones: Each speaker features a Dynamic Balance polymer/mica composite mineral-filled cone. The cones are stiff and lightweight for big sound and low distortion.
Butyl Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use butyl rubber surrounds.
Kapton Voice Coil Former: The low-mass, 2-layer Kapton Voice Coil former is lightweight for high sound output. Kapton's high melting temperature (725°F) ensures high power handling and longer reliability.
Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeters: The 3/4" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite tweeters provide clear, detailed highs. The tweeters use neodymium magnets.
2-way Crossover Network: The built-in 2-way crossover network sends the appropriate frequencies to each driver for cleaner sound and better imaging.
