Overview

Our take on the Polk db570

When it comes to sound in your car, you like it powerful, yet smooth. Polk built the db570 speaker for high efficiency, to deliver the big sound you're looking for, but with the refinement of speakers usually costing much more. This 5"x7" speaker combines a polymer/mica composite woofer with a rubber surround to keep the bass crisp and clean. You'll enjoy the lush high-frequency tones of the liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite 3/4" dome tweeter.

Instead of the simple high-pass filter found in most car speakers, a built-in 2-way crossover network sends the appropriate frequencies to each driver for cleaner sound and better imaging. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

1998 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I already had some polks from a few years back...I had been very happy with those and I just wanted to upgrade those plus my back two factory speakers for my Ford F-150... I was happy with the sound, especially with my new Clarion receiver I just purchased as well...polks always a great replacement very happy with my order...

Great Speakers

Written by: Derek from Arlington, TX on March 30, 2008

I bought these speakers to replace the stock 6"x8" in my '01 F-150. They sound great!! The highs are much clearer at high volumes than the stocks were. The reason the speakers get a 4 of 5 stars is because i could only secure two screws, due to the fact that two of the holes don't line up. If you are on a budget, but want to get some aftermarket speakers with some power, go no further than Polk db 570's.

Bad Tembre

Written by: IGO from Las Vegas on March 14, 2008

I wanted about 6% rear fill in a moderately extensive set up in my new Mazda3 Hatchback. At 100 watts rms per channel up front, a component set of Polk Audio db5251 does the job. I bought the db570 hoping for timbre matching with the front and I am powering them with an old Kenwood 50 x 2 amp. Gain and attenuation at the HU draw most of the SPL up front but there is a nagging presence in the rear and I can't EQ it to mimic the front speakers. These speakers, though I didn't expect the exact same quality, sound like mud compared to the front and they actually detract from the overall listening experience. They get a two because this is a higher end install and I expect in a less extensive system they would fare much better with the other gear. They gotta go.

2004 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed these speakers in 04 F-150 Super Crew and it sounds great over the factory speakers. I ran a Bose wave radio demo CD before the install, then again after, and the difference in sound over factory is incredible. As far as installation, the side tabs on the front speakers had to be bent to allow the speaker to recess into the hole in the door mold, and only 3 screws lined up. Only 2 screws line up on the rear but still secured. Don't spend any money on radios, amps, or woofers until you install these speakers; you won't need them!

The speakers sound fine and are well priced. They didn't quite fit my Escort and I think the way I made them fit probably affects the way the sounds negatively. The mounting holes didn't line up with the stock brackets.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these after looking at a set of Infiniti Reference speakers and talking to several folks. The agent at Crutchfield also said these would sound more natural and with the price of these... wow. I can't get enough of these speakers and the enhanced quality of my sound. From talk radio to rap to heavy metal, the bass and highs come in at amazing clarity. You won't be disappointed in these. Delivery was right on time and allowed me to install them on the same day I received them. I will certainly order again from Crutchfield.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to upgrade my factory rear speakers. These things sound great and fit in the factory locations perfectly. The sound is much sharper from these. There is not much bass from these speakers but if you want bass then get a sub. Great bang for the buck, even better if you are looking to replace factory speakers.

2006 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just ordered these from Crutchfield, they came quickly and well packaged as expected. The installation instructions from Crutchfield were dead-on, and the included wiring harnesses made the install very easy. However, I will say that these are recommended as a direct fit for the Ford F-150, and while they do fit in the factory opening well, you can only get 2 out of the original 4 screws into these speakers. If you put one in the top left and bottom right, it holds it nice and tight but there is no way to get all 4 original screws back in without some type of modification. Other than that they are a huge improvement over my factory speakers (which were just terrible, Ford, in case you're listening). Next up from Crutchfield is a new head unit to really make these sound great!

I bought 2 pair of the Polk db 570 and replaced the door speakers of my 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer and I am very pleased with the results. I am using a Kenwood 8403 to power these speakers and they are holding up well. I kept may factory head unit and ran a MTX Re-Q and everything sounds great.

The stock speakers in my F150 were terrible. Bass was muddy and the highs were muffled. These Polk speakers did the trick. I'm very happy still using the stock head unit because these speakers allow me to listen at a higher volume without any distortion. For the price you really can't beat them.

Excellent Factory Replacements!!

Written by: olimadart from Jacksonville, FL on July 4, 2006

I replaced my factory junk speakers with these. I have an 04 Expedition and needed louder clearer sound and I had heard nothing but good things about Polk audio so, I bought them. I was impressed by the clarity, however, I was still running a factory radio with no amp so it wasn't loud enough. I purchased a 5-channel Kicker amp and two Fosgate P2 12s and built a down fire box for them. Now it sounds fantastic. I could not ask for more.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 2005 Ford Focus ZX3 (S) with the Shaker500 head unit fom a 2005 Mustang. First I tried the Infinity Reference 5010cs speakers (see that review) and I lost 1/2 my output power. Since I got these from the Crutchfield website, I called and spoke to a representative and he recommended the Polk DB570's.

They arrived just days later, were 1/2 the price, far easier to install and actually had better bass responce than the Infinitys. They work VERY well with the Infinity BassLink Subwoofer, and may even suite your needs without a subwoofer!

Highly recommended for stock factory deck owners who want better sound, more base and clear highs. Great speakers! 5 stars for the money (shame I missed the sale!).

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install: 2000 Ford Taurus SES Sedan - Pioneer DEH P4800MP Head Unit. (Audiobahn AS50Q components in front, Polk Audio DB570's in rear) powered by Profile Baja HA1040. Subs - Dual 10" JL Audio W1V2's powered by JL Audio 250/1.

Pros: Work well both as mids and two-ways. I've currently got these babies wired through a Profile amp delivering 80W RMS on 4 channels. With the PA db570's on the rear channel, bass boost set to mid, and the LP filter adjusted correctly, these suckers pump out quite an earfull. I was extremely impressed with how clear the separation of the highs and lows were even with the bass boost enabled. Mounting was a cinch, of course, thanks to Crutchfield.com and the free speaker wire harnesses.

Cons: Still working on that one. I guess my only problem off-hand would be the price. For Polk 60W RMS speakers, seems a little high. But I'd paid it anyway so no matter! Worth it!

Overall Opinion: Clear, separated sound at a rather affordable price! (duh...it's PA right?!?) As always, install and setup are super-simple with the help of Crutchfield.com!

Once again, you guys help me prove why you are the best at what you do! Thank

2002 Ford Focus
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I tried both these Polk db570's and the Infinity Reference 8012cf's to replace the factory speakers in my Ford Focus wagon, but I hardly noticed an improvement in sound quality. I tried them with an amp thinking then I'd notice the difference, but no. I ended up finding that a pair 5-1/4" 3-way Kenwoods carried the highs, mids, and higher lows much better than either of the 5x7's I tried. I'll be cutting holes and using spacers if necessary to put 6x9's in the rear doors to carry the mid-lows, and I've got a small sub for the deep bass. I don't recommend replacing your 5x7's in a Focus with these speakers.

I feel these speakers are a litte more natural or vocal sounding. There not BRIGHT speakers at all and they deliever clean tight bass. But they sound great paired up with my KFC-X680's with a MTX 3404 @ 65 watts. It really balanced out! I would just recommend to run these as rear fills like everyone say's in their reviews. Not bad for the $$. Aloha!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all I hooked up these speakers with a Pioneer 45W receiver in an F-150 Crew Cab. The bass is what you would expect without a sub woofer and/or a much higher powered receiver. The lower and middle mid-range is a little muddy but ok. The high end is ok and defintion/imaging is pretty decent. They are efficient and will definitely make some decibles. Definitely a big step up in sound quality from the basic factory system that was in the truck when I bought it. Most people who listen to it think is is a pretty good setup. My main stuggle is that I have an incredible sound system in my house, so this setup is limited in comparison. I think the reality is that you have to spend quite a bit more to make a reasonable jump up in sound quality. If you are looking to get a decent set of speakers relatively inexpensively, then these are probably good ones for you to buy.

2002 Ford Thunderbird

Based upon other comments from satisfied buyers on the Crutchfield website, I puchased a pair of Infinity 6812's (door) and a pair of Polk 570's(rear deck)for my '02 Thunderbird. I can honestly say that the 6812's are the best sounding speakers (using the factory head unit) that I have ever heard. Bass response as well as highs are outstanding. The Polks are not near the equal to the 6812's (in my application) and appear to need more power to provide better sound.....although the Polk's have a high sensitivity ratio they do not seem nearly as efficient as the Infinity's. I'll be replacing the pair of Polk's with another pair of Infinity 6812's soon.

I took Mack from Long Island's advice and paired these up with a set of Infinity References, and WOW, it is a dynamic duo. These do EXACTLY what 2-ways are supposed to do; good highs, great mids, and excellent bass. I am gonna add a set of 10" subs for when I'm feelin' the need to make some noise, but you can bet the remote power-on wire for the subs will have a toggle switch in it, because these Polks paired-up with a set of fronts that deliver superb high-end give you AMAZING full-range sound.

Simply put, these are the best sounding 2-way speakers that I have heard. I installed these in all 4 doors of my ford focus, even though crutchfield said that they would fit, and have them running at their full 60 Watts RMS on a pioneer amp. I could not be happier and will have these speakers for as long as I have my car.

Good Bass Speaker

Written by: Mack from Long Island, NY on August 31, 2005

I have a 2005 Ford F150 supercab, and I needed new speakers. This speaker was the ONLY one that could handle the bass of the music that I like (house). However it only gets a 4 out of five because the highs are not that great. I am using a factory ford deck, and these sound pretty good. I recommend buying these only if you plan to not buy a subwoofer. If you have a sub already, it doesn't make sense to buy these.
I would also recommend that you don't buy the second set for half off, instead spend the extra 50 bucks and buy the infinity 5 by 7 6812s. the highs are super crisp and would be a great 1-2 punch for your stereo. I did that for mine and mine sounds great. I hope this was helpful to you readers.

As soon as you pull the speakers from the box, you'll notice the quality of manufacture. They installed easily into my 05 Sport Trac (they fit just fine in the front and rear doors). The clarity is excellent with well defined mid-range and low-end bass. They produce enough bass that a subwoofer really isn't necessary for the average listener. High end treble is clear but not quite as good as Pioneer or Infinity. Overall, the sound is excellent with just the factory head unit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I hooked these up to a 20W RMS Panasonic deck, and was not at all impressed with the maximum volume. I could turn the volume all the way up and, while I would expect the bass/mid-bass to get very muddy (which it did), I would also expect the trebble to hurt my ears (which it didn't). I don't doubt that they would sound much better with an amp, but if you are running only deck power, I suggest buying a speaker that has a lower RMS maximum. I'm going to try the Kenwood KFC 5708, and see if they are more efficient at this power level.

I wanted a nice speaker set-up for a low price. I made an excellent decision with these. Whether powered by the receiver or an amplifier, these speakers are awesome. Much better with the amplifier though because you get more volume. Even at high volumes there is little to no distortion. These 5x7's have excellent bass response, excellent mid-range response and excellent highs. My ears don't even really get much of a ring from these speakers. They definitely out-perform my old Cerwin Vega set-up. Unreal!

I have them running off my older model Clarion head unit (not to amp) and couldn't be more happy with the clarity and range they provide, very crisp highs and mids, I found exactly what I was looking for with this product.

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Marine Certified: Polk db Series speakers are built to withstand exposure to moisture and UV rays, so they work well in boats and cars.

Woofer Cones: Each speaker features a Dynamic Balance polymer/mica composite mineral-filled cone. The cones are stiff and lightweight for big sound and low distortion.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use butyl rubber surrounds.

Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeters: The 3/4" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite tweeters provide clear, detailed highs.

2-way Crossover Network: The built-in 2-way crossover network sends the appropriate frequencies to each driver for cleaner sound and better imaging.
