Polk 5x7 in Van

Written by: Chuck M from San Lorenzo, CA on April 10, 2016

1996 Chrysler Town and Country
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My door panel had an oval for only a 5x7 speaker and would not accept the 6x8 / 5/7 speakers. The DB571 speakers were a tight fit with the recommended speaker baffles. But with crushing the foam of the speaker baffle around the speaker frame, the speakers did "fit". Too bad Crutchfield did not have a replacement mounting bracket to replace the factory 5x7 bracket. Then Crutchfield would have alternatives to the new standard of rating 6x8 speakers as fitting in a 5x7 hole.

Pros: Speakers sound good.

Cons: Nothing that relates to the speakers.

Polk Audio Speaker Replacement

Written by: Frank from Belmont, NC on April 7, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My wife bought a pair of these speakers as a Christmas gift. I complained that my front speakers sounded a bit blown to me. Because of lots of other projects going on I didn't get to install right away, that's when I noticed my rear speakers started to sound them same way, so I ordered another pair. I made time this time to install all four speakers at once and glad I did. Installation of the speakers themselves was fast and super easy. Taking off the door panels without damaging them took the most time for me. These speakers made a big difference to my audio system. I recently installed a Pioneer FH-X721 receiver, this paired with my new Polk speakers have me driving happily down the road listening to some great tunes from my music library.

These speakers are leaps and bounds above the factory speakers I replaced. WOW!!!! With the new stereo cranked all the way up, there was absolutely no distortion and frankly extremely loud. My ears hurt, but I had to test their effectiveness.

Pros: Excellent sound

Cons: Mounting holes were ever so slightly off from my OEM speakers, but were within specs and were definitely mountable. Love the sound.

1997 Mercury Cougar
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

From the second I took this set of speakers out of the box. I was overwhelmed by the precise attention to detail and quality that was put into this speakers manufacturing process. I almost thought I made a mistake buying the other set of speakers which were pioneer, as opposed to going with a second pair of these polk. However, together the sound was exactly what I was aspiring for. These polk gave an eloquent reproduction of sound at nearly every level of volume. If your not worried about the heavy bass people for some reason expect out of door speakers then there are a perfect choice. The bass was less than I thought would be there, with that said the clarity blew me away and made up more than enough for it. The pioneers gave me the bass I was looking for and complimented this pair perfect.

Pros: Exceptional clarity and sound reproduction at every volume level. Marine use certified and high level quality engineered.

Cons: Somewhat lack of bass response but if your end goal is to put subs in then that point becomes moot.

The price is right, and these speakers solved my problem. My factory Ford Escape speakers lacked clarity, and I could not hear certain background vocals. The install of these was very simple, and as promised by Crutchfield Sales Support I can very much hear the difference. I didn't need an amp either so I'm thrilled.

Pros: Works great, good price, easy install, amp not required

Cons: The install steps didn't specify that I would need to tape the cable to the inside of the door during the install or else the window rubs. I wish I had known this to save me time.

Wrong Aproach

Written by: Igo from Nevada on May 25, 2015

OK, here's a review of these speakers installed in a Mazda 3 in 2008. Overdue? Maybe, but there is a reason. I have a 100x2 RMS amp for up front and a 50x2 for the back door speakers. In 2008 I decided to use these Polk speakers in the back door because they were rated at 93db for efficiency and for a 5x7 they claimed to reach down to 52hz frequency. My reasoning was that I could get as much wallop from the 50x2 amp as the 100x2 up front with better component speakers. Wrong way of thinking. Instead I ended up moving the sound stage and imaging almost completely foward and barely heard these speakers for anything more than ambient sound. A good thing. Well my 19 year old subwoofer finally died and I found myself re-examining my aging system while trying to trouble-shoot the old sub. I moved the fade to a neutral state between front and back and discovered these back speakers greatly degraded the overall system sound. My determination? Something has to give when you try to squeeze 52Hz out of a 5x7 speaker and 93spl just doesn't come out of a speaker this size without a great deal of loss of voice coil control. So, yep, after 8 years I am trying a set of 88db efficiency 6x8 speakers only rated to 80Hz. And this time I am only relegating the new speakers to ambient duty as their principal function. Summary: The old Polk 571db simple ran muddy in modest lower throws with apx. 70hz thru 140hz notes pretty much stepping on each other rather than being defined, separate notes.

Pros:

Cons: I've been a Polk fan for many years, these were just a miss.

I bought this for my 2004 F150 super cab. I am pleased overall, but I expected a bit better low end. The highs are nice and much improved over the single come stock speakers. I think my problem is the stock head unit now. In retrospect, I might have waited and bought some thing higher end as part of a complete system, but for the price for four of them, I'm happy. The installation was amazingly fast and easy!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Finally decided (after owning the truck for over 2 years) to replace the poor quality stock (Sony system with GPS) door speakers. My only regret is that I waited this long to do it, very pleased with the quality of these Polk speaker and with the excellent instruction provided by Crutchfield it was a snap...only took about 10 minutes per door. Great high end and good low end, can turn it up to my favorite rock and country tunes, or listen to talk/news radio with no vibration or cracking noise. I debated over a couple of different speakers choices and the agent at Crutchfield did a great job of explaining the pros and cons of the various choices i had narrowed it down to.

Pros: Excellent high end reproduction, crisp clean sound

Cons: Simply that I needed to re-adjust the bass and treble after the speaker replacement, it still left the bass sounding a little disconnected/flat, but was able to modify the stock Sony sub with some fiberfill to help give it more depth. Sounds outstanding now!

1998 Ford Ranger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered these speakers expecting a great sound. Polk did not disappoint. Though they say they fit my 98 ford ranger, and they did, the did so a little awkwardly. The highs sound crisp and clear, the mids come through great, but the lows.....ehhhh. I was hoping for some deep tones. They do produce some rich lows, however, if you are going for bass, you need a woofer. These speakers don't thump, they sound a little distorted when I try to push them, but when I tone it down a little the sound is amazing! A great choice if you want to replace a blown speaker or some factory insets. I really couldn't be happier with this product. The install was a breeze! Total install time took me about 10 minutes. Worth the money.

Pros: Crisp Sound, good highs and mid range

Cons: Bass response isn't all that great, awkward fit

I installed 4 speakers in my 2005 Ford F-150 FX4 Supercrew two weeks ago and were an instant step up from the stock speakers. The front two fit perfectly, and the rear two took a little more effort making a few adjustments to the frame to make them fit. Just installed a pioneer head unit with these speakers, and I have no regrets. The midranges are excellent; the low bass lets its presence be known and shakes the mirrors a bit. Overall great quality for a great price!

Polk Audio was on sale at the time I bought these and in addition to the numerous good reviews, I went ahead and purchased two sets (required for my 2003 Expedition). They definitely sound more clear than the stock speakers. The speakers unfortunately didn't fit perfectly, but by using some gardening shear scissors I was able to cut off the two loops at the tips of the speakers. I also had to drill two holes as only two of the side mounts matched up with the stock holes.

Pros: SQ way better than stock.

Cons: Doesn't fit perfectly.

Cons: The pros here is that I didn't take the opportunity of researching these speakers sooner. That to me is the con here.

The Polk db571 is an amazing upgrade to factory Ford 5x7. In my case, the foam surrounds had all but disappeared from age. Installation was virtualy painless.

Pros: The marine certification and rubber surrounds are an ideal choice for a work truck. But the improvement in fidelity, clarity and efficiency is the real payoff.

Cons: The plastic spacers provided to keep door trim off the surrounds are simply taped to the speaker frame, and have the potential to vibrate. I used a vinyl & rubber adhesive to glue the spacers firmly to each frame before installing.

Great Sound - 2012 Ford F150 Super Cab

2012 Ford F-150 XLT
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Crutchfield adviser Cooper suggested these speakers, Polk Audio db571, to match up with my Pioneer AVIC 900BT. I took a long time to decide, having thought the Infinity Reference speakers would be better. I trusted Cooper and went with the Polk Audio speakers. I did however completely cover my doors with dynamat sound deadening material. This was suggested in another forum and was well worth the investment. The sound is crisp, full range and has a surprising level of punch. The equalizer of the Pioneer received allowed me to fine tune the speakers for my personal preferences. I initially installed one speakers and tested to see if it sounded better than the factory speaker and was disappointed. I did the same after installing the second speaker and was not impressed. After installing the third speaker I was thinking maybe I won't send them back. When finished with the complete install of all four speakers I was amazed at how good they sounded. After adjusting the equalizer I was completely sold on the fact that these were the best speakers in that size for the money I spent. The speakers were on sale buy one pair, get the second half price.

Pros: Crisp highs, full range sound and surprising level of punch to the base. The speakers were a breeze to install and the adapters worked perfectly. I would highly recommend the Dynamat material

Cons: May need hearing aids eventually! The speaker sound so good I'm playing them more often and louder than usual because they sound so good.

the polk speakers I purchased work very well. I had upgraded the factory stereo with a pioneer from Crutchfield. they recommended the polk and other speakers as a upgrade from factory. what a difference. the factory would distort but not the polks. they where on sale which is even better. install was eazy. had to remove two tabs on each speaker to make them fit. a 5 min. job with a pair of end nippers not a problem at all. I am happy with everything I have purchased from Crutchfield. they sell good product and there install sheets are eazy to understand. I will keep buying.

Definitely a better sound than what I had in my 2001 F-250. When I pulled the panels, the speakers I pulled out were Eclipse, not stock, and these sounded WAY better than them. Powered through an aftermarket Pioneer head unit with no issues. Install was simple. After I had everything hooked up, it did leave me wanting more bass, but overall very pleased with the speakers. I had to cut and crimp the provided speaker wiring harness, but I assume that was because the previous owner of the truck had installed aftermarket speakers.

These 5X7 speakers were extremely easy to install thanks to Crutchfield's excellent instruction sheet with photo illustrations coupled with the freed wiring harness adapter. I disconnected the factory tweeters in my Ford Fusion when I did the install and I'm so glad I did because the Polk's more than picked up the high end they were putting out. They sound is so smooth and detailed coupled with my Pioneer deck and Alpine power pack amp I know they will provide me with many years of listening enjoyment.

Excellent clarity to these speakers. They have great punch and performance while playing everything from Classical to Heavy Metal. High frequencies are awesome, and very crisp. The mid levels are very specific, and the speakers don't muddy a track in any of the songs I threw at them - you can hear the music as if each bandmember had his own speaker within the speaker. The low frequency tones are clear and do not hum, but rather thump, bump and kick effectively. I have a $150 price range Kenwood Receiver powering these Speakers, and play off a USB.

Pros: Crisp well executed sound - resolution is EXCELLENT. Remnd me of themon Kardons in my 2013 ML.

Needed to buy speakers because 1 of the factory spaekers in my '06 F-150 was dying. Was only going to buy 1 pair of Alpines but it happened that Crutchfield had a buy one get one half off sale on the Polks so I got 2 pairs of them.. Was told by the customer service guy that there would be a big difference in sound even though I'm using the factory head unit. There wasn't. There was a very slight improvement in bottom end but the highs are harsh and strident and there is a large hole in the mid range. Either these are not very good or the factory speakers aren't that bad. I'm disappointed in their sound especially considering that I have a full set of large Polks for my home theater system and couldn't be happier with those. Maybe everything would improve with a new head unit or an amp.

Pros: Decent low end for this type of speaker

I just purchased a new ( to me ) truck. A 1999 F 150 super-cab. It had already installed an aftermarket receiver. It's a Alpine CDE-102, sounded really good. My Dad thought it was the best system he has herd in a auto before. I thought it was lacking just a bit, it was good I just thought it could be a little better. I thought the speakers were factory and thought aftermarkets would make it sound like I wanted. Didn't know exactly what I wanted but I knew a good place to look. (Crutchfield ) after surfing the site looking at all the what fits in my truck I still wasn't sure I was looking at punch from a e-mail ad , so I called the adviser hot line. the Adviser ask several questions my music and how I liked to listen and recommended these speakers. I received them in 2 days. I removed the door cards and found kenwood tri-axles. "Oh crap" not factory speakers!. Well I bought these might as well try them. Thanks Curtchfield adviser I could not be happier. these are clear and crisp. the highs and the mid-range is right there. can't wait to get my sub in now thanks again.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Vast improvement over stock. Not what I would consider audiophile quality, but considering I am using the stock factory head unit, and no amps, subs, ect. I am satisfied with the sound - for now. Install was fairly simple, thanks to the instructions Cruthfield supplied with the speakers. If Crutchfield can stand a little constructive criticism, one of the first steps in the install instructions is to remove the cover behind the inside door handle, to access the bolt, but all the sheet shows is the cover already removed. It does not give a clue HOW to remove it! I found you need to get behind this cover on the lower left corner, while holding the handle away from the door, as if you were opening it, with some sort of hook type device, and pull sharply. I have an old window moulding clip removal tool that worked perfect for this. once I figured this out, the rest was fairly simple. I would recommend connecting the power window switch, and make sure everything is out of the way from anything that moves BEFORE you reinstall the door panel. I used cable ties to secure the adapter cables to a factory harness inside the door. Interesting observation, I think I may have figured out why the stock speakers sound so bad. On the speaker magnet of the FORD speaker, it reads, plain as day "MADE IN CHINA". Sure am glad I bought American! These must have cost Ford all of 80 cents each!

Pros: Price, if you get the buy one - get one half price deal. Seem to be made from quality materials. Installation instructions included - for your vehicle.

Cons: Not a "perfect" fit. Had to use some creative screw angles to use the factory holes, or you can redrill two of them.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers were replacements for the ones in my 2002 Mercury Villager Van (pause for laughter). This is the second set of Polk Audio speakers that I have purchased from Crutchfield for two different vehicles (the Jeep were outstanding!!) . They were initially paired with a set of 4" Polk Audios but after pulling old rear speakers found that 2 sets of 5" by 7" in the vehicle were needed. Swap was a phone cal away and couldn't have been smoother! This was no fault of Crutchfield but with a vehicle built by Mercury and Nissan (more laughter) they changed size without notice. Interestingly, the front speakers used a front adopter from Ford and the rear from Nissan. Wire cutters please.. Also when installing two of the holes have to be drilled to make them speakers fit. Directions provided were helpful but not perfect (see above Ford Nissan comments). I added a Sound Ordinance amp sub combo. This sounds great with Kenwood system. Very happy with stereo but the Ford and Nissan combo made it somewhat difficult to install. See review for steering wheel controls for further details on that. The fact that the factory stereo, with cassette was not even listed by Crutchfield as existing-customer service again unbeatable...Sweet ride!

Pros: Great sound and weatherproof. Also on sale!

Cons: Buy some posi-taps and keep them around. Very handy when splicing. Also get some panel tools. Makes everything sooo much easier! Worth the cash because once you start buying from Crutchfield your stock systems will be on e-bay and you'll want their stuff in all your cars!!!

An awesome speaker for the money. Sounds great, the highs are chrisp and it has enough base. Teamed speakers with a Kenwood KDC-X596, no extra amp. When I ordered them I did not realize they are "marine use" approved. Although they are installed a truck, not a boat, humidity should not effect them over time. The speakers appear to be well made. I listen to mostly country. My 23 year old son put them through their paces with the stuff that 23 year olds listen to and he was also impressed. He thought I paid more than they sell for.

Pros: Great sound. Got a buy a pair, get a pair half price deal, so they were a good value.

Cons: Although they were the same size as the original speakers, the holes did not line up. I had to elongate the holes to use the existing screw holes. Not a big deal but added some time to the install.

The speakers went in like a dream and sound great with moderate bass and treble. most music sounds better than the original speakers. I did notice, however, that when playing music at higher volumes, the bass will flatten a bit and the treble will give off little chirping sounds if it is set too high. I'm not sure if this is the speaker or the OEM stereo so I want to be fair about this review. I am a long time fan of Polk audio. Physical quality of the product was excellent, as always. And Crutchfield is just the best at instructions and adapters, hands down Awesome. if you are listening to standard stuff, these are great replacements. If you intend to seriously rock out, I'd look into a preamp and splitting out the sounds.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are a fantastic option for replacing factory speakers. They may seem a little expensive compared to others but they are well worth it. These speakers were installed on my 2003 Ford Mustang and they sound great. Highs and mids sound a lot clearer and highs sound brighter. Bass does seem a little disappointing compared to the factory speakers, but the bass is so much cleaner. Playing some classic rock with these makes it seem there is an actual bass drum somewhere in the car. These speakers would also be an excellent choice if you are planning on installing a sub. Please note that they are 5x7 speakers and not 6x8. Most Ford vehicles use 6x8 speakers (for what reason I can't figure out. Not too many 6x8 options in the aftermarket). These speakers will fit into the factory locations but in my case I was only able to use 2 out of the 4 factory screw locations. These speakers come with self tapping screws so you can fix that if you have the space. I did not have the space to do that so I installed the speakers with 2 screws. They seem to hold just fine and there is no rattling.

Not going to blow anyone away, but provides the best sounds of any door speakers I have heard With Crutchfield providing extremely easy installation instructions and wiring adapters, you cannot go wrong with purchasing with them. O and did I mention that Crutchfield provided easy installation instructions with pictures? Had 4 speakers installed in my f250 in under 1 hour...

These speakers are decent, better than the factory that's for sure, good bass and the clarity appears good. I replaced the rear factory set out of my Ford F150, but now I am debating if I will replace the door speakers with the same brand. Apparently, both speakers on my passenger side (front and rear) were blown, so I can't really tell until I replace the front door speakers, if this brand will suffice. The install was very easy, more difficulty with the truck moldings if anything but all else was smooth.

Installed 2 sets of these in front and rear openings of 2005 Mustang. Running off an an amp pushing 50watts rms to each speaker, with the low pass filter set at 100, it only took six months to blow 2 of them. This is considered "field wear" and is not covered by warranty, despite the amps power being rated well within Polk's stated zone. When they did work the produced sound was rich and clear. I tuned them only to produce mid/high freq.s which they did well.

Instructions are so simple to understand. With the supplied wiring harnesses I replaced the front speakers in 15 minutes and the rear speakers in about 25 minutes. The sound...awesome, but then again, with Polk Speakers what else would you expect! You simply can't do any better than Crutchfield or Polk!

I have a 2011 F150 XLT. Crutchfield advisor recommended these and after reading the reviews here I pulled the plug. I do not have a single regret. Factory speakers seemed muddled. I had Polk in my previous vehicle and loved their sound. These do not disappoint even powered only from factory HU. Plenty of sound which is crisp and clean. I know the system would sound better adding a subwoofer but even without they still put out some nice bass. Certainly will not shake the windows but enough for my ears. I may add a sub later but will play as is for a few weeks then decide. Very nice cost/performance combination. Highly recommend.

Great Replacement to Stock

Well, I had a little issue. One of my speakers came DOA, but I didn't notice it until almost 20 days after I installed them. The woofer was not attached to the tweeter, so the tweeter was getting 65Watts and was just garble. I called Crutchfield, and within 2 days I was all set. They sent me a new one, I sent them the broken one and didn't have to pay a thing. These speakers make some sound! I put these into my rear door speakers(I don't sit back there so I didn't notice the tweeter was busted right away) and they do sound amazing! They hit from low to high very well and everything in between. If you are looking to just replace your door speakers this is a great start!

I purchase 4 of these speakers as a replacement in my 98 F150. prior to this purchase I had Pioneer TS-A6872R in the front that replaced my dry rotted factory speakers. Now 1 year later my rear speakers have suffered the same fate. This time I wanted to replace all 4 with the same speaker. I'm glad I did. These Polk speakers are so much more pleasing to my ear. To describe the sound in comparison to the pioneers, the mid -treble sound so much cleaner and the bass, although not as strong as the pioneers, sound much more controlled. While I will admit these speakers would be better paired with a sub, I still love the overall sound MUCH better...especially considering I'm using only my head unit's power. Thanks to Scott for the recommendation.

I replaced my 08 Superduty speakers with these and what a difference it made. Because of the crossover built in, there is no need for an external crossover. It does a pretty good job seperating the highs and lows. Even though they are not enclosed, they sound surprisingly good and strong, even in the low range. They are definitely not subwoofers, but if you want to hear clear, loud music, these speakers are highly recommended.

Definitely an upgrade from stock in my 2010 F150. Improved clarity, very nice high end for the low price. I don't think any more expensive speakers would sound better since I'm using the stock head unit, no amp. No base to speak of but that's to be expected from a 5x7. I plan to add a small sub for some base, but even without a sub these are pleasent to listen to. Install was easy with the free bonus stuff from Crutchfield; the detailed directions and the free connectors. The speaker mount holes did not match up with the ford, but it only took 2 minutes with a drill to widen the mount holes.

I purchased 4 of these speakers to upgrade the stock speakers in my 210 F150 supercab. best money I could have spent. the previous truck had an after market radio but since this truck had an integrated radio that was not possible. the speakers made the stock radio sound better than I could have ever expected. I have other Polk products including exterior deck speakers so I knew that they could tolerate the elements. I strongly recommend this product. One thing: make sure to secure the harness that is provided so they do not get caught in the power windows. I had one come loose and some simple plastic ties solved the problem.

I purchased these as replacements for the stock speakers in my 2009 Ford Escape, and they did not disappoint. The mids and highs are considerably better now. The bass is also improved, albeit modestly, but I have a subwoofer for bass anyway. Despite their very high efficiency rating, they are definitely hungrier for power than the stockers. I"ve had to turn up the volume on my Pioneer head unit by about 6 levels on average. (But volume goes up to 62 and these things still get LOUD by 40 or so. Plus I could always add an amp.) The necessity of turning up the volume also meant I had to turn down the gain on the sub's amp a little, to maintain the sub's desired output; no big deal. Installation went smoothly with no complications of any kind. Ultimately, I'm quite satisfied with the performance of these speakers. However, I'm not giving them five stars, because they won't blow you away. But they are a noticeable and pleasing improvement at a reasonable price.

I installed a set of the db571 in the front doors and rear pillars of my 97 Ford Ranger pickup. They're classed not to fit my truck but they fit very nicely. I also ordered speaker baffles for the front doors and a new Kenwood HU. I installed the speakers first as I wanted to hear what they would sound like with the factory HU and all I can say is WOW! I've had Polk speakers for years in my home and different vehicles and these are why I keep purchasing Polk. For a 2-way speaker the highs are very clear and the bass response from this 5 x 7 is incredible, not sub-woofer sound, but very, VERY impressive. I HIGHLY recommend these Polks. Once I hooked up the new Kenwood they came to life even more. I also have the Sound Ordnance BP-8 sub on back-order which I'll review once I get it and I also plan on adding a 4-channel amp in the future. I have reviews on the Kenwood and baffles as well. As always, Crutchfield is the best customer service business I have EVER dealt with. I emailed them several times about various gear and they always respond very quickly and professionally. I found these speakers to be very smooth overall. The silk/composite tweeters are very appreciated by the ears. The respose is very natural and the speakers can take pretty much whatever you throw at them. They may be 60 watts rms per speaker, but they perform as if they were twice that. Still, I think they could be a bit louder, I'm definitely going to take a look at polk's mobile monitor series with higher wattage rating. By the way I'm running them off a kicker zx 350.4 amp and a kenwood kdc-mp435u. System sounds great! I listen to abrassive music such as metal and rock mostly so I have to be picky to get a clean sound.. If you love music loud and clear!!!!, buy silk domes! and moreover buy Polk audio!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2003 Explorer w/ stock radio, no factory subwoofer Time used 12 hours Tested w/ CD "Slippery When Wet" by Bon Jovi (fav. album ever) Summary: The speakers provide a much cleaner and crisper response than the factory speakers at mid and high ranges. There seems to be some lower response loss. The lower frequencies are coming through cleaner, but not as prominent. This may be due to factory speakers providing a "muddier" output in the low areas. Overall, I like these speakers. Pros: Excellent high-end and mid range response. Very clean sound throughout the frequencies. Cons: Really close fit, not "exact". No instruction on what the black rings were used for. "Perceived" some loss of lower frequencies from stock speakers. Story: I decided to swap the factory speakers for these as part of a stereo upgrade for my X. I found these locally and visited the store. I tested these speakers on their wall of speakers against others in the price range. My test consisted of running the head unit with a flat EQ on a local radio station. Other offerings sounded similar. I then switched the head unit to a preset "rock" EQ. These speakers came alive with response. The other models did not sound as good with this EQ setting. Of the models in the price range, these sounded the best. They came with black trim rings taped to the speakers. Crutchfield said these are not needed for my installation. Crutchfield's installation guide and telephone assistance is excellent.

Upgrade for my 02 F150 ext cab. JVC Mobile HD Radio Receiver/CD Player w/ iPod-Ready - KD-HDW10 I mainly listen to Rock and country, on occasion R&B and Hip Hop. That means this review is geared mostly towards Rock and Country. These speakers are so much better than the factory speakers. What I wanted out of my new speakers was better/louder sound that did not distort when cranking up the tunes. That's exactly what i got on 95% of the music i have listened to. The other 5% there was some distortion at the upper limit but turning it down just a little fixed that. Ive bought and installed a few speaker upgrades for my vehicles throughout the years and in every case I found myself wanting (not needing) more bass. I don't necessarily want to rattle the windows I just want it to HIT HARD at the right time. That would be my only (whats the right word) grip about the speakers. On some songs you don't get that Kick I like. Im no expert, probably this is the case with all setups similar to mine, after market HU and aftermarket speakers. Maybe more expensive speakers will give you that kick 100% of the time(does that even exist on a budget?) , i dont know. But those "better Speakers" cost waaaay more than what i paid. Maybe adding a amp would help in that aspect. Over all i am very satisfied with my purchase Ordered on Wednesday, they shipped ground that day, arrived Friday. Installed 4 speakers in just under 2 hours. They even included instruction that were very helpful!

2003 Ford F-150

I purchased these speakers while on sale with a Pioneer DEH-P7000BT CD Receiver. I recieved the speakers first and installed them in my 2003 F-150 with the stock head unit. What an amazing upgrade. I was able to hear sounds in songs I wasn't able to before. I broke them in for a while when I was waiting for my aftermarket headunit. I recieved and installed the deck about 3 weeks later (It was on backorder) When I finally got the deck in I cranked up the volume. The low-end distortion is very noticeable at high volumes. I'm ordering a Blaupunkt 210a to handle the low end, I'm hoping it will fill out the rest of the sound. I'd definately recommend these speakers to someone wanting more mid/high definition. If you want clarity at low end, a sub is almost a must. 4/5

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i hooked these up in a 2004 mustang in the doors and in the rear deck. They replaced the speakers in the Mach system with a aftermarket Pioneer Premier head unit. im running all 4 on head unit power and i have them limited so they wont try to play to low of bass. they fill in the highs and the mids very well without being too shinny or bright sounding. i bet they would osund alot better with a
