DB571 speakers

Written By Chuck S, Colorado on Sunday, May 31, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install and greatly improved sound

Pros: Good value and quality

Cons: Supplied screws were too short

Great for the price

Written By JCool, Connecticut on Thursday, May 28, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The price is right, and these speakers solved my problem. My factory Ford Escape speakers lacked clarity, and I could not hear certain background vocals. The install of these was very simple, and as promised by Crutchfield Sales Support I can very much hear the difference. I didn't need an amp either so I'm thrilled.

Pros: Works great, good price, easy install, amp not required

Cons: The install steps didn't specify that I would need to tape the cable to the inside of the door during the install or else the window rubs. I wish I had known this to save me time.

Polk Speakers For 2008 Mariner

I love these speakers, great sound. Much beteer than the factory installed speakers.

Pros: Great quality sound. Easy installation

Cons: They were not a perfect fit, one of the screw holes was a little off center.

Wrong Aproach

Written By Igo, Nevada on Monday, May 25, 2015

OK, here's a review of these speakers installed in a Mazda 3 in 2008. Overdue? Maybe, but there is a reason. I have a 100x2 RMS amp for up front and a 50x2 for the back door speakers. In 2008 I decided to use these Polk speakers in the back door because they were rated at 93db for efficiency and for a 5x7 they claimed to reach down to 52hz frequency. My reasoning was that I could get as much wallop from the 50x2 amp as the 100x2 up front with better component speakers. Wrong way of thinking. Instead I ended up moving the sound stage and imaging almost completely foward and barely heard these speakers for anything more than ambient sound. A good thing. Well my 19 year old subwoofer finally died and I found myself re-examining my aging system while trying to trouble-shoot the old sub. I moved the fade to a neutral state between front and back and discovered these back speakers greatly degraded the overall system sound. My determination? Something has to give when you try to squeeze 52Hz out of a 5x7 speaker and 93spl just doesn't come out of a speaker this size without a great deal of loss of voice coil control. So, yep, after 8 years I am trying a set of 88db efficiency 6x8 speakers only rated to 80Hz. And this time I am only relegating the new speakers to ambient duty as their principal function. Summary: The old Polk 571db simple ran muddy in modest lower throws with apx. 70hz thru 140hz notes pretty much stepping on each other rather than being defined, separate notes.

Cons: I've been a Polk fan for many years, these were just a miss.

These Polk Auio bd571's are installed in a 2012 Ford E250 service van. The reciever is a JCV KW-R910BT I believe rated at 22 RMS. These speakers work and sound very good with this combination.

Pros: Price, sound and ease of installation. 20 minutes.

Cons: None yet.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in a 2013 mustang. Sounds great. Only downside was speaker bracket was buil into stock speakers so I had to improvise and make my own. Worth it.

Pros: Great midrange and highs

Cons: Not the best base but subwoofer was added so that is negligible.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this for my 2004 F150 super cab. I am pleased overall, but I expected a bit better low end. The highs are nice and much improved over the single come stock speakers. I think my problem is the stock head unit now. In retrospect, I might have waited and bought some thing higher end as part of a complete system, but for the price for four of them, I'm happy. The installation was amazingly fast and easy!

Excellent factory replacement choice

Written By Michael C, Wichita, Kansas on Thursday, April 09, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Finally decided (after owning the truck for over 2 years) to replace the poor quality stock (Sony system with GPS) door speakers. My only regret is that I waited this long to do it, very pleased with the quality of these Polk speaker and with the excellent instruction provided by Crutchfield it was a snap...only took about 10 minutes per door.

Great high end and good low end, can turn it up to my favorite rock and country tunes, or listen to talk/news radio with no vibration or cracking noise.

I debated over a couple of different speakers choices and the agent at Crutchfield did a great job of explaining the pros and cons of the various choices i had narrowed it down to.

Pros: Excellent high end reproduction, crisp clean sound

Cons: Simply that I needed to re-adjust the bass and treble after the speaker replacement, it still left the bass sounding a little disconnected/flat, but was able to modify the stock Sony sub with some fiberfill to help give it more depth. Sounds outstanding now!

Nice Mids, So-so Lows

Written By Tino, Gulf Shores, AL on Monday, February 09, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered these speakers expecting a great sound. Polk did not disappoint. Though they say they fit my 98 ford ranger, and they did, the did so a little awkwardly. The highs sound crisp and clear, the mids come through great, but the lows.....ehhhh. I was hoping for some deep tones. They do produce some rich lows, however, if you are going for bass, you need a woofer. These speakers don't thump, they sound a little distorted when I try to push them, but when I tone it down a little the sound is amazing! A great choice if you want to replace a blown speaker or some factory insets. I really couldn't be happier with this product. The install was a breeze! Total install time took me about 10 minutes. Worth the money.

Pros: Crisp Sound, good highs and mid range

Cons: Bass response isn't all that great, awkward fit

Great Speakers!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed 4 speakers in my 2005 Ford F-150 FX4 Supercrew two weeks ago and were an instant step up from the stock speakers. The front two fit perfectly, and the rear two took a little more effort making a few adjustments to the frame to make them fit. Just installed a pioneer head unit with these speakers, and I have no regrets. The midranges are excellent; the low bass lets its presence be known and shakes the mirrors a bit. Overall great quality for a great price!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Polk Audio was on sale at the time I bought these and in addition to the numerous good reviews, I went ahead and purchased two sets (required for my 2003 Expedition). They definitely sound more clear than the stock speakers. The speakers unfortunately didn't fit perfectly, but by using some gardening shear scissors I was able to cut off the two loops at the tips of the speakers. I also had to drill two holes as only two of the side mounts matched up with the stock holes.

Pros: SQ way better than stock.

Cons: Doesn't fit perfectly.

These speakers are a very nice upgrade over stock paper speakers. There is SIGNIFIGANTLY more bass and the sound is much clearer overall, even with the stock head unit. These were put in a 1999 F250 work truck that has a very lame am/fm receiver, very basic. The sound quality has dramatically improved.

Pros: Vastly improved sound quality over stock speakers, Good price

Installed these speakers in a 2007 Ford F150. The instructions and the wiring harness made everything easy. Only took half an hour. The sound is a vast improvment on the stock speakers.. Bass is very clear and loud . The gold color of the speakers looks great through the grille on the doors. I would reccomend these to anyone looking for better sound even with my stock receiver( which I plan to upgrade next.

Pros: -Solid construction -Great value for price

Cons: -Can't rotate/direct tweeter

Yes this is the ticket for real quilty some when you really want to hear everything that's going on in listening to your music. I've also noticed the fact that these speakers are built pretty durable as well as performance in their output of sound Quility. You can't go wrong using these speakers to get the job done with sound Quility.

Pros: The pros here is simply sound Quility and the durability of the overall construction of these speakers. Now did I mention the Quility!!!

Cons: The pros here is that I didn't take the opportunity of researching these speakers sooner. That to me is the con here.

Polk Delivers Again: Replacing FLM 5x7 Econoline Speakers

Written By ChazMan, Falls Church, VA on Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Polk db571 is an amazing upgrade to factory Ford 5x7. In my case, the foam surrounds had all but disappeared from age. Installation was virtualy painless.

Pros: The marine certification and rubber surrounds are an ideal choice for a work truck. But the improvement in fidelity, clarity and efficiency is the real payoff.

Cons: The plastic spacers provided to keep door trim off the surrounds are simply taped to the speaker frame, and have the potential to vibrate. I used a vinyl & rubber adhesive to glue the spacers firmly to each frame before installing.

Great Sound - 2012 Ford F150 Super Cab

Written By Dave, Williamstown MA on Monday, May 19, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Crutchfield adviser Cooper suggested these speakers, Polk Audio db571, to match up with my Pioneer AVIC 900BT. I took a long time to decide, having thought the Infinity Reference speakers would be better. I trusted Cooper and went with the Polk Audio speakers. I did however completely cover my doors with dynamat sound deadening material. This was suggested in another forum and was well worth the investment. The sound is crisp, full range and has a surprising level of punch. The equalizer of the Pioneer received allowed me to fine tune the speakers for my personal preferences. I initially installed one speakers and tested to see if it sounded better than the factory speaker and was disappointed. I did the same after installing the second speaker and was not impressed. After installing the third speaker I was thinking maybe I won't send them back. When finished with the complete install of all four speakers I was amazed at how good they sounded. After adjusting the equalizer I was completely sold on the fact that these were the best speakers in that size for the money I spent. The speakers were on sale buy one pair, get the second half price.

Pros: Crisp highs, full range sound and surprising level of punch to the base. The speakers were a breeze to install and the adapters worked perfectly. I would highly recommend the Dynamat material

Cons: May need hearing aids eventually! The speaker sound so good I'm playing them more often and louder than usual because they sound so good.

Cons: would have liked fuller sound.

I replaced my factory speakers in my 2003 F-150 supercrew (2 pair 5x7). I also have replaced the factory deck with a Pioneer DEH-X6600BT. I am running a Zapco 4x75 rms amp. These speakers sound exceptionally clean and crisp. Considering they are 5x7 coaxial speaker they are well worth the money. For what I am using them for they work great. Not sure how they handle lows since I am running a crossover. Didn't buy them for lows though. I would recommend them for a factory replacement any day.

the polk speakers I purchased work very well. I am happy with everything I have purchased from Crutchfield. they sell good product and there install sheets are eazy to understand. I will keep buying.

Definitely a better sound than what I had in my 2001 F-250. When I pulled the panels, the speakers I pulled out were Eclipse, not stock, and these sounded WAY better than them. Powered through an aftermarket Pioneer head unit with no issues. Install was simple. After I had everything hooked up, it did leave me wanting more bass, but overall very pleased with the speakers. I had to cut and crimp the provided speaker wiring harness, but I assume that was because the previous owner of the truck had installed aftermarket speakers.

I wasn't happy with the factory speakers in my 2011 F150, so a friend recommended Crutchfield. I went to their website and found many after market brands to choose from. I called and spoke to a salesperson who helped me narrow down what I was looking for and offered suggestions. The Polk Audio db571 speakers easily installed and sound great, especially for the price. I am very pleased with the quick delivery and overall experience with Crutchfield! I have already recommended Crutchfield to my friends and family.

Pros: Easily installed without needing adaptors to mount.

Cons: None

great sound

put these in a 2008 Mazdaspeed3 GT front and back doors, these sound 100x better then stock. They dont really have that much bass but thats ok because Crutchfield sells them and Polk Audio makes them. Easy install fit like a champ, no mods needed.

Pros: sound great

I purchased four of these Awesome OEM replacement upgrade speakers! They sound better than the OEM speakers on my new Ford F150 XLT and run perfectly with the Ford sync and OEM amp.

Pros: Great buy.

Cons: None as of yet, but don't expect any.

Excellent Value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent clarity to these speakers. They have great punch and performance while playing everything from Classical to Heavy Metal. High frequencies are awesome, and very crisp. The mid levels are very specific, and the speakers don't muddy a track in any of the songs I threw at them - you can hear the music as if each bandmember had his own speaker within the speaker. The low frequency tones are clear and do not hum, but rather thump, bump and kick effectively. I have a $150 price range Kenwood Receiver powering these Speakers, and play off a USB.

Pros: Crisp well executed sound - resolution is EXCELLENT. Remnd me of themon Kardons in my 2013 ML.

Cons: Mounting Brackets required modification to fit application. No big deal...

big improvement over the stock speakers, especially with a new stereo. I installed the speakers first, so I had a good reference point of just the speaker replacement, and they do sound much better than stock.

Excellent replacement speakers for OEM units that had rotted. Sound much better than originals ever sounded even with the original head unit.

Pros: Fit, sound, and ease of installation

Cons: Be careful to avoid interference with power window action.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Needed to buy speakers because 1 of the factory spaekers in my '06 F-150 was dying. Was only going to buy 1 pair of Alpines but it happened that Crutchfield had a buy one get one half off sale on the Polks so I got 2 pairs of them.. Was told by the customer service guy that there would be a big difference in sound even though I'm using the factory head unit. There wasn't. There was a very slight improvement in bottom end but the highs are harsh and strident and there is a large hole in the mid range. Either these are not very good or the factory speakers aren't that bad. I'm disappointed in their sound especially considering that I have a full set of large Polks for my home theater system and couldn't be happier with those. Maybe everything would improve with a new head unit or an amp.

Pros: Decent low end for this type of speaker

Cons: No mid range, harsh highs

A must for an upgrade to factory speakers. Works best for me w/ a sub.Running this off a 5 channel amp w/Polk Audio separates & JL stealth box

Pros: Good upgrade from factory speakers, good power handling.

Cons: Not enough bass, need a separate sub. But sounds really good w/ the addition of a decent sub & fine tuning.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers immediately gave a noticible improvement over my factory speakers, which is what I was trying to accomplish since buying my 2010 truck.

Pros: Very easy installation, exact instructions for my truck, sound is what I was looking for.

Cons: After installation, needed to remove door panel again to turn one speaker around because a speaker wire was pulled out when the power window was rolled down.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just purchased a new ( to me ) truck. A 1999 F 150 super-cab. It had already installed an aftermarket receiver. It's a Alpine CDE-102, sounded really good. My Dad thought it was the best system he has herd in a auto before. I thought it was lacking just a bit, it was good I just thought it could be a little better. I thought the speakers were factory and thought aftermarkets would make it sound like I wanted. Didn't know exactly what I wanted but I knew a good place to look. (Crutchfield ) after surfing the site looking at all the what fits in my truck I still wasn't sure I was looking at punch from a e-mail ad , so I called the adviser hot line. the Adviser ask several questions my music and how I liked to listen and recommended these speakers. I received them in 2 days. I removed the door cards and found kenwood tri-axles. "Oh crap" not factory speakers!. Well I bought these might as well try them. Thanks Curtchfield adviser I could not be happier. these are clear and crisp. the highs and the mid-range is right there. can't wait to get my sub in now thanks again.

Pros: good crisp highs and mids. very clear

Best bang for your buck!

I bought a 06 F150 and couldn't stand the factory 6x8 speakers. These things sound great! It has perfect highs and decent mids. They rival anything I have heard for clarity. Perfect for what I wanted.

Pros: Highs! Clarity!

Cons: None

Good for what I have.

Great speakers for price and brand. Got buy one second 50% off. Boston makes clean sound without distortion. Not going to blow out windows but clean and crisp. Running off factory deck till satalite radio contract done. Going to power with aftermarket deck soon. These speakers need power to show full potential(like most aftermarket) but make a difference with crappy factory unclean power. Not as dynamic as infinity but alot less expensive.

Pros: Cleans up factory "buzz" great bargin.

Cons: Need clean power to show full potential

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A clear upgrade from the Factory speakers in my 2001 F-250 Crew Cab. Perfect fit to the stock locations, and with the included wire harness adapter from crutchfield, I had 4 speakers installed in 45 min. Not a lot louder with the factory deck, but much clearer.

Pros: Great mids and highs with no distortion

Cons: I dont have enough wattage yet to reallyget all these speakers have to offer.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Vast improvement over stock. Not what I would consider audiophile quality, but considering I am using the stock factory head unit, and no amps, subs, ect. I am satisfied with the sound - for now. Install was fairly simple, thanks to the instructions Cruthfield supplied with the speakers. If Crutchfield can stand a little constructive criticism, one of the first steps in the install instructions is to remove the cover behind the inside door handle, to access the bolt, but all the sheet shows is the cover already removed. It does not give a clue HOW to remove it! I found you need to get behind this cover on the lower left corner, while holding the handle away from the door, as if you were opening it, with some sort of hook type device, and pull sharply. I have an old window moulding clip removal tool that worked perfect for this. once I figured this out, the rest was fairly simple. I would recommend connecting the power window switch, and make sure everything is out of the way from anything that moves BEFORE you reinstall the door panel. I used cable ties to secure the adapter cables to a factory harness inside the door. Interesting observation, I think I may have figured out why the stock speakers sound so bad. On the speaker magnet of the FORD speaker, it reads, plain as day "MADE IN CHINA". Sure am glad I bought American! These must have cost Ford all of 80 cents each!

Pros: Price, if you get the buy one - get one half price deal. Seem to be made from quality materials. Installation instructions included - for your vehicle.

Cons: Not a "perfect" fit. Had to use some creative screw angles to use the factory holes, or you can redrill two of them.
