Polk is a speaker company, first and foremost — experts in designing and building speakers that give you top end performance, even at middle-of-the-road prices! And check out the cutting-edge looks, too — textured woofer cones and MOMO-inspired, wheel-style grilles add the right touch if you're customizing your ride.

The db650 6-1/2" speaker combines a polymer/mica composite woofer with a rubber surround to keep the midbass crisp and clean. You'll enjoy the smooth high-frequency reproduction of the liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite 3/4" dome tweeter. And, instead of the high-pass filter found in most car speakers, a built-in 2-way crossover network sends the appropriate frequencies to each driver for cleaner sound and better imaging. Don't limit these speakers to your car — they've passed tough environmental testing that certifies them for marine use as well.

They wear out..

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound great when they are new. I bought mine in 2007. They just blew yesterday. Both pairs I have are now dead. The rubber surround split on the woofer and now it rattles. I also have a pair of polk dvc12's I hope they don't suffer the same fate. Never buying polk again. Gonna save and spend my money on higher end speakers next time.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent choice. Sound is very crisp and clean. Bass is acceptable, in some previous reviews the bass (or lack of)was one of the only low-points to this model. I have yet to find a song that made me say "I really wish there was some more bass right there". Not an issue in my book, and besides, that's what subs are for.

I am completely satisfied with this purchase and install was incredibly easy with the parts Crutchfield provided.
Once I get my subs and new Pioneer DEH-P5900iB head unit installed I will be golden.

Thanks again Crutchfield!

A bit disappointed...

Written By Eric, Ewa Beach, HI on Monday, September 03, 2007

I'm a full aftermarket system kind of guy and I'm usually tearing up my car before I even get home from the dealership. All of my past cars have been redone with high-end gear, but I decided to keep it "factory" looking with this new Altima I just bought. So, I just added a sub/amp combo and I'm replacing my factory speakers with the Polk's because I had Polk seperates in my previous car and loved them.

I just installed one side with the DB650 and left the factory Blaupunkt 6-1/2" on the other (it was not recommended but it did fit with a little modifying and drilling). At first, I was a bit disappointed because I noticed that the Blau played much louder than the Polk did. After finishing up the install on that one side, I sat in my car to compare the two. I started to really appreciate the Polk much more although it played about 5 notches lower than the OEM speaker.

The quality and workmanship of the Polk's are first-class. The sound is very warm and pleasing. It doesn't have that high tinny sound you usually get from factory speakers and the vocals are pretty accurate.

I give it 4 stars because the volume leaves a little to be desired IF you're running it off of a OEM stereo. The sensitivity is listed at 92db but the volume is really lacking. If you have at least 40 watts going to them, they'll sound absolutely wonderful. As a matter of fact, I'm sure they'd sound great with even 25 watts. Pick up a pair because for the price, you can't go wrong!!

Purchased these speakers recently to run with a new Pioneer deck - they sound AWESOME!! The Pioneer spits out around 22wRMS, and it's more than enough to thump these speakers> Crystal clear highs, almost concert-hall sounding in my truck, and 05 Dakota. No trouble with the fit or supplied speaker brackets.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these in the rear doors of my 2006 hhr replacing the stock units. Boy what a difference!! The bass response isn't quite as good because the adapters don't cover the factory cut out. I was told by the salesman about that at the time of purchase though. And the highs are incredible. I plan to run a 4ch amp soon and install a dynamat speaker kit to fill in the gaps. Great product!! Even greater technical support by the sales team here at Crutchfield!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When my factory front door speakers developed a buzz, I started looking for replacements, and decided on the Polk DB's based mostly on the reviews here...good decision!

Installation was easy, with the supplied adapters and wiring connectors...taking about an hour to complete...Wow, what a difference! I popped in a CD of my favorite Creed track (Six Feet From the Edge), and couldn't believe the change in sound quality.

My truck has been modified with an aftermarket cold air intake, and a Magnaflow exhaust system...the resulting exhaust note is pretty aggressive. The DB's, driven only by the factory head unit, easily cut through the road and exhaust noise, and deliver great mid-high range, and pretty good bass (but isn't that what subs are for?). I'll be ordering another set for the rear doors today!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers because of the great reviews and I've read through all of them before I decided to order these great sounding speakers considering I'm only running these off my Sony CDX-F7710(black edition) and a set of 10" subwoofer on a customize enclosure in the trunk...and after you let it break in...they sounded even better.
As a replacement for my 2 year old Sony speakers on my Civic front door. Installation was smooth thanks for the installation kit that came with my order. The speaker bracket fit perfectly not until I re-assemble my door cover (that's when the problem comes in)the door cover would not close it was too bulky so I end up not using the bracket and mount the speakers on a wood bracket.
I was going to order another set of these to replace my rear deck even though Crutchfield suggested that these speakers wouldn't fit when I ordered the first set.
About two weeks later, I saw these speakers on a discontinued sale and bought it, what a steal.

I'm only rating this 4.5 stars just because of the bracket, but I would recommend these speakers and thanks to Crutchfield and all the GREAT REVIEWS.........

As expected from Polk

Bought a set of these to replace the factory Blaupunkt duel cones in my 07 Nisan Frontier Crew Cab rear doors. As with my last set of Polk DBs (in my last truck) they sound great (driven to 50 W RMS with a Sony XM-4S amp.) Install with the Crutchfield suplied master sheet and adapters was easy ( although I did have to open the 3 mounting holes a touch with a file/drill bit.) Sound is clean and warm with decient mid-low/mid base. Lots of bank for teh buck with Polk DB's.!

I bought these speakers to replace the stock speakers in my 2007 civic. They sound very good still using the factory head unit. The Highs and Mid range are extremely clear. The only drawback i have is that they do not have a lot of bass. The bass there is clear, but it is not that loud. I'm going to put a small subwoofer in the car soon, so it doesn't bother me. All in all, a very good product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have the 2006 Honda Civic SI and I purchased these speakers to replace the front and back factory speakers. The sound quality is excellent considering I am running these off the Sony BT-500 head unit. I can not comment on the sound quality of these speakers if they are hooked up to an amp and crossover (That is next). The Rear speakers took a little customization but nothing more than a few hours and some plywood and a jig saw wouldn’t fix (I can not blame that on Crutchfield they didn’t say it would fit the rear deck.) Front Speakers worked great mounting instructions where excellent.

Would buy these again and wont buy anywhere else but Crutchfield!!!!

Great price for what you are getting.

These are very good sounding speakers and you can't beat the price or Crutchfields service. I put these in a 2004 Dodge Quad cab with the Polk 690's and a Pioneer 4900 stereo and can't believe how much better this setup is compared to the stock system. I liked them so much I bought another pair of 690's and 650's for my sons new dodge he is also very happy. Thanks again Crutchfield.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my first time buying Polk speakers, but I can honestly say it won't be my last! The Polk db650 speakers on an amp sound amazing! I am running a pair of these in the rear of my car off of a Profile AP740 60Wx4 RMS amp and the sound quality is incredible! For starters, there IS a good amount of bass to be found in these speakers. With all the new local laws focusing in on people blasting there favorite American Idol singer around town, it is almost pointless to go for a sub around here. So I decided to do what I hope that guy blasting his subs down the road will do and go for better interior sound quality... sound quality for the people INSIDE THE VEHICLE!! Anyway, the bass is nice, but the mid and high range are also incredible. I highly recommend these speakers, especially if you get an amp to match. You will probably be surprised, and most like still have some cash left over for all that gas you will be buying as you drive aimlessly to enjoy your new purchase!

Let them break in and you'll love them

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought as replacement for factory speakers along with a new Sony head unit...at first they sounded terrible, clear on the high end but nothing else. After about 2 weeks and an extended road trip the sound is amazing. At least one reviewer pointed out that you need to let these break in for a while before passing judgment, and I have to agree there. Maybe the surrounds are a little stiff right out of the box. At first I thought I'd have to buy a sub, but these provide plenty of bass for my tastes.

98 Integra GS Coupe

Written By Jim, Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, July 05, 2007

Man this is a huge difference from stock speakers. I'm driving a 2 door coupe and the clarity is amazing. I have these hooked up to a infinity 4 channel amp in series (last 2 channels are bridged for sub). Each channel is rated at about 111rms so divide that by 2 and it's about 55 watts to each but since it's in series about.... maybe 40 or so watts to each speaker and it's very very clear at high volume i only have the gain on my amp at half to protect my hearing. Grab a sub and your set the bass on these isn't astounding i have a high pass filter on and i'm loving these.

I'll be ordering another pair to round out the package but even with the two installed now I can easily hear the stereo over the outboard even at speed!

I don't know how 94 people could average a 5-star rating for these speakers. I got mine today (a full day earlier than expected--thanks Crutchfield!) to replace the front door speakers in my 07 Civic... I've never been so disappointed with replacement speakers. I read that the bass might be lacking a bit, but since the factory speakers are so boomy I wasn't worried. Boy was I wrong. These things sound like a decent clock radio next to Honda's factory speakers.

I'll be sending these back.

I have a 2006 Pontiac Torrent and I ordered two pairs of Polk speakers; db650 (for the front) and db525 (for the rear) to replace the factory units. I installed a Sony Xplod CDX-RA700(52x4)head unit to power the speaker and I cannot be any happier with the sound I get from this setting. The sound of the Polks come out clean, crisp and loud. Compared to the factory sound the new sound these Polks poduce, is light years better. I greatly recommend these speakers to those wanting a great sound without cutting a hole in their rear pocket.

Written By Alex, Cary, Nc on Thursday, June 21, 2007

I have an 93' Acura Integra. Ive been looking for nice speakers to replace the 3 way on the back deck and the stock front door speakers. After looking for a while i saw the Polk db 650's. Reading every review i could i found that the only thing people complained about was bass. I bought 2 pairs of these speakers. It was on a thursday that i sent in the order and expected them sometime the next week, but instead crutchfield being on top of things got them to my house saturday afternoon(2 days later). These being the first speakers i ever put in a car, it went very smoothly. I was surprised on how easy it was. The only draw back was that i couldnt use the grils that came with the speakers on the rear deck. A little strip of plastic was in the way. But they were easy to cut out with a utility knife. I have an Alpine CDM receiver, nothing special. I would advice everyone to let the speakers run half power for 30 min before cranking it all the way up to let the speakers "loosen" up so they are broken in. After doing so i cranked them up, and dang did they make my ear drums ring(this is without an amp). They made the rear view mirror shake and my neighbors clearly aware i had got some new speakers. Dont listen to what other people say about the bass, ITS CLEAR, ITS CRISP! I am obsessed with bass, and even these pleased me. If your looking to kill your ear drums then go ahead buy a subwoofer, but if you want clear, clean, crisp bass, then these are the speakers for you. Also the tweeters are amazing.
Very very happy with my purchase.

Great job crutchfield, your amazing!

These speakers have FINALLY solved the dilemma of what will fit in my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited AND sound good! I tried Pioneers with the stock receiver and YUK! I installed a Pioneer deck and still, YUK! I got wise, read some reviews, and ordered these Polks and WOW! Bass that I can hear without distortion and mid and highs that work, too. If you need 6-1/2" speakers, I recommend these highly.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are the best 6 1/2s I've ever heard, including my set of Eclipse components. A few EQ tweaks and they sound phenomenal. I was afraid the tweeters would be harsh not being pure silk but they're just right. Sound unbelievable on just head unit power. Decent bass and midrange as well. Excellent value. Now, if Polk wouldn't have discontinued these for the DB651 which won't fit in my car.

These fit perfectly in my Honda Accord.

Great speakers at a great price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these after putting in a new headunit (Sony 410u) and realizing that my old speakers were just thrashed. Saw that these were on sale and had rave reviews so I decided to treat myself. Free shipping (coupon code) and no sales tax and a nice price!

Construction is top notch. Yes, they're made in China, but not on a cheap/no quality control line. These are NICE speakers - they don't feel, sound, or look like junk no name speakers. It is interesting that they wove the wires on the spider instead of running them up to the cone, then to the voicecoil. I don't know if it affects the performance, but it does make the speakers look clean. There is an inductor in-line with the main speaker to perform the low pass filter/crossover. You don't see that on cheap speakers.

Installation went well, these were drop in replacements in my doors for my old 6-1/2" speakers so I was done with the install in about 5 mins for both sides. I didn't use the grill that came with it, and may actually end up using my old grills - I don't want these to be a target for a thief.

How does it sound? Great! Highs are not harsh like the piezo and other metal dome tweeters. Bass is nice and tight but I do have the bass turned up a bit on my headunit to compensate for my car's poor acoustics.

Now I just need to find some 6x9 enclosures for my rear speakers and I'm set!

Replacing the stock speakers in a '06 Toyota RAV4. They sound AWESOME. These speakers produce crisp highs, seat pulsing bass. I run these with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X491 stereo and a Profile AP740 60W x 4 Car Amp (all from Crutchfield). I highly recommend these speakers. One note: Installation was a pain because the '05 Toyota RAV4 stock speakers were riveted in place and had to be drilled out (BUT, well worth it!).

Replaced the stock speakers in 07 Civic. Great improvement over the stocks, as expected. They play well through the stock amp, but would certainly do better with a higher powered one. Bass is pretty good for a speaker this size. Mids are well done and highs sparkle without being overly bright.

Great speakers for the price. I bought these to replace the factory speakers in my 1997 Chevy C1500 and I am more than satisfied. Crutchfield has hooked me as a customer with their fast shipping response and their Customer service.

As a relative neophyte when it comes to car audio, I gotta say the master sheet was a life saver. I generally don't like doing exploratory surgery on my truck. The master sheet made it easy and the brackets (with some modifications) made installation easy.

Crutchfield, with all the extras that you load an order up with, you've got me as a dedicated customer. Keep up the good work.

Awesome speakers

Written By Malcolm, Sandston, Va on Wednesday, April 11, 2007

These speakers are amazing. Great highs, mids, and even lows. I don't know why people say the bass is not great. Sure, they don't punch like subwoofers, but they're not subs. The bass from these makes my rearview mirror shake and i can definately feel the music. I can't wait to see what they do when i hook an amp up to them. I have a Pioneer 4800 hooked up to these currently. They sound great. I would buy a second pair for my rear deck if they fit. It's not worth it to mod my car so that they will. I do not know what I could say that has not already been said. These are great speakers. There are two things that I would like to comment on. First, remember that these are quality speakers and require a break in period. And second, this is where I may be able to help some people with speaker selection. Before you buy a pair of speakers based on what size fits you car, go out and pull the door panels or check the back deck on your car or truck. Sometimes you can install a larger size speaker in the holes than what was there. My truck's door panels called for a 5 1/4 and I was able to put 6 1/2 speakers in the holes as a direct fit, even the screw holes lined up. I think that almost always it is better to use the 6 1/2 over the 5 1/4 speakers in what ever brand you buy. Most of the time the cost is the same, and a lot of the time you will have a larger selection.

The sound is crisp. Paired with a powered subwoofer, and the proper amplification - these speakers have really high resolution sound. It's like the first time you try really expensive headphones. Great pair of speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the stock door speakers with the Polk db650 speakers in my 2000 Dodge Neon. This was my first attempt at installing door speakers, and I can say that it was a breeze. The adaptors that Crutchfield provided worked like a charm, as well as the adaptor wiring kit.
I am giving these a 4 only because they really show just how muddled the rest of the stock system really is.
I have stock speakers in the rear deck, and on the dash, as well as a stock head unit. The Polks produce the same sound level as the rest of the system, only they sound clear and bright, while the others are muddy.
At some point I will be replacing the rest of the speakers with Polks. I was some what concerened with the Bass output. but those concerns went away when I installed them. They almost put out as much bass as the stock 6x9's on the rear deck. These are wonderful replacement speakers, and I highly recommend them.

Great highs, great midrange, and decent bass.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You can't beat the sound of these for the price! I am a musician and am very picky with my speakers. I cannot stand to listen to an unbalanced stereo system.
These speakers sound great at any volume with any type of music. They are crystal clear, and have great midrange which seems to be impossible to find these days in aftermarket speakers.
I am running these off the Panasonic 8303U deck w/ 17watts rms. An amp would make these sound amazing.

If you want bass, get a sub. If you wan't great sound quality, buy these speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had my db650's installed in my '99 Audi for just about a year now, and i can't say enough about the quality and sound that these Polks produce. I have 2 db650's mounted in my rear passenger doors and 2 mounted in the deck lid. I also have a pair of Polk db400's (4" inch) and a pair of Polk db1000's (tweeters) mounted in my front doors. All of these speakers are being pushed by a Rockford Fosgate P4004, wired in parallel, at 100w RMS per channel, and believe me they rock!!

I was afraid to push the db650's more than the recommended RMS rating, but i figured if they could handle 180w peak, they could handle 100w constant. I wasn't disappointed!! I haven't had a lick of problems pushing them hard, and the sound they produce is amazing.

Superior high's and mid-bass are evident, and as mentioned in other reviews, these speakers are not meant to produce bass or boom. That's what subs are for, so bear that in mind when purchasing. With that in mind, these speakers are the best of the best and i would recommend them to anyone.

If you are looking for a set of speakers to compliment your existing system (w/subs), or are simply looking to repace your worn or blown OEM speakers; look no further. These Polks are for you!!

Don't be afraid to push 'em.....

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently used the db650's to upgrade the front speakers of a '00 Corolla. Paired with rear polk db675's, Alpine cda-9851, and a bazooka bta-8200. The output of these speakers are crisp and clear....even at high volumes. Would definitally recommend these speakers to anyone.

Side note: Easy fit in the front doors with the supplied speaker adapter from Crutchfield, but once you've drilled out the rivits that held the factory speaker on, the supplied screws are too narrow to catch on the sheetmetal. Self tapping screws will do the trick. Alittle extra work was well worth the sound quality of the db650's

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After I blew out two of my factory speakers, I overhauled the sound system with 4 of these babies, as well as a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP head unit and Kenwood KSC-SW1 subwoofer. The first thing I put in was the speakers, so I can verify that these alone produce crystal clear sound, esp. the highs. They handled bass better than the factory speakers, of course, but I knew I wasn't getting the full effect of my CDs. Also, I kept the factory radio equalizer flat, and that was just fine for these speakers. I later added the head unit and subwoofer and could not be happier with the final results. Also, it's pretty important that you get some Dynamat--I just got the basic speaker kits, which are only 20 bucks for each set of speakers. This definitely had an effect, as I installed the speakers first without it, got some pretty serious rattling on a few select tracks (I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant). Then I took my doors apart again and put on the Dynamat. Pretty major difference, and much less rattling. But only after putting in the subwoofer and using the high-pass filter with the Pioneer unit did I eliminate all traces of it. For you music fans out there, one of the best CD's I found to test a sound system is "Parts in the Post" by Plaid. Great electronic music that covers pretty much all frequencies (many in isolation) so you know what to expect out of your system.

Excellent speakers

These 6.5's speakers are replacing TS-1670R's from pioneer and they sound amazing. Big difference in clarity and bass response. Again you must realize that these speakers are not meant totally for bass so don't expect a major thud without a subwoofer. However these are very very clear and have enough punch to deliver good sound. This in combination with an Alpine 9856 headunit makes an amazing sound combo. But don't forget the 6x9's thats a different review..

Replaced the OEM speakers in my 2007 Subaru Forester with Kenwood iE series speakers. Sound was slightly better but well below expectations. Upgraded my receiver to a Kenwood DPX701, with XM satellite radio. Some additional improvement but the sound was reminiscent of the Japanese transistor radios of the '60's. Installed Polk bB series speakers front and rear and presto, outstanding sound performance. Excellent definition, tight base and smooth high frequencies. Units are very well constructed and, with the assistance of adapters supplied by Crutchfield, the installation was a snap. Do not pass up these speakers.

A great speaker for the right listening style

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got four of these and I power them solely with the Pioneer DEH-P3800MP. I got them specifically for the Polk name, sensitivity and silk dome tweeters. The Pioneer is 22 watts RMS and it powers them sufficiently. I've not had the amp past 90% and the listening level is as loud as I'd ever need. I use a sub and dedicated sub power amp, so I can't really speak for the bass response of these speakers - well, at least I can't speak for their ability to thump. But what I can tell you is that they are smooth. The mids and highs are exactly what you'd expect from Polk. Silky. Nothing harsh. I was previously running a pair of 15-year-old Pioneer 3-way 4x6's in the back of my car and while the 4x6s were good and probably a bit louder, they were just too harsh for my taste these days.

These Polks won't win a crank-it-up competition and if your goal is to burn off your own eyebrows with searing treble, look elsewhere. But if you want smooth, silky, rich highs and balanced mids, these are the ticket. More like a fine home system than a powerhouse car stereo - which was just what I was looking for.

These speaks lend themselves well to adult alternative music such as Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Peter Gabriel. They also do well with Jazz (the classic trio style, I can't speak for smooth jazz). I'd guess they'd do well with classical too. I've noticed a really nice response to vocal harmonies. I ALMOST run my system with a flat EQ. Altho I do run the lowest level of "loudness" processing the Pioneer preamp creates just to add a little extra punch to the system.

One word description of these speakers - silky

Wow is that a 6 1/2

Written By Robert, San Antonio,TX on Saturday, August 26, 2006

Wow, when I hooked these up to my Panasonic CQ-C8803U with the new T class digital amp capable of 31x4 watts RMS they really pumped out the bass. They sounded punchier than some 6x9's I have bought in the past. For such a small speaker they really crank out the sound. Again, the only thing that is holding these speakers back is lack of a stiffer cone, other than that, a great buy.

Kudos to Polk and Crutchfield

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers at a great price! Especially valuable if you are not planning to use dedicated amplifier.
Sound improved dramatically from my factory-installed speakers and at $80 install price (with all adapters provided by Crutchfield free of charge) this is a great bargain. Installer was very impressed with the sound quality (he sells Pioneer speakers and did not have much experience with these Polks).
Crutchfield is terrific as usual. Delivered to my door in less then 24 hours after ordering with free delivery (I live on the East cost). Also, less then 5 minutes after ordering I got a call from Sales Rep letting me know that I had a $75 coupon that I completely forgot about and that Crutchfield would go ahead and deduct it from the final price.
High notes are so clear now that I would need to readjust from what I was used to :-) Bass is good and clean - but do not expect from 6.5'' speakers to shake your car.

No regrets

I wanted to upgrade from the stock stereo in my 2003 Toyota Highlander. I bought a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP and am completely satisfied with the results. Great sound, especially cranked up. I give up long before the speakers do. Sound quality is exceptional. I wish I would have made the upgrade long ago.

You will NOT be disappointed in these speakers!

i have just installed 2 pairs of these in my 91 subaru legacy and i am very happy with the sound , really top notch when paired witht he pioneer reciever i installed as well. bass is good and tight , and the soft dome tweeters are fantastic , very smooth and not shrill at higher volumes like a lot of the metalish tweeters.

The Choice for Speakers

Written By Mat, Orange County, New York on Monday, August 07, 2006

After being extremely satisfied with a pair of Polk db6500's in the front doors of my '98 Dodge Dakota regular cab, I felt the need to replace my rear speakers. A few short days later, I had a pair of these behind my seats, what a perfect way to compliment my 6500's. The lack of mounting space in my truck forced me to buy this non-component pair of speakers over the others, but the sound is just as crisp and clear.

The bass from both sets of speakers is not up to par, for rock music and low speed driving, it's noticeable and ideal, but to impress a female, not the greatest. A sleek Kenwood KSC-SW1 is next on the credit card to fill in the bass gaps, but once all together, the system couldn't be better.

I installed these speakers in a old fiberglass bass boat along with a Sony CDX-GT10M Marine receiver and I was pleasantly surprised. These are some great speakers for the money and I'm thinking of buying a couple more. The fish will be dancing, thanks Crutchfield for a great product, super fast shipping and the product reviews. The reviews where very helpful when choosing these products.

Awesome speakers

Written By Mike, Bradenton, Florida on Monday, July 17, 2006

As I started to work on my car 92 Honda Accord I noticed all of the factory speakers were blown due to being 14 years old. I looked at sony's, kickers, and other cheaper speakers but everyone said that these were the way to go. I put one set in the front doors and 2 in the back deck. Just on the power provided by my Pioneer deck they rocked. The bass kicked in good and the highs were awesome. This is all without an amp so i don't know what they'll do with one. My only problem was that the harness for my pioneer deck came with a wire in the harness that was not stripped. Luckily customer service said that they would send me a check if i fax them a receipt.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great! The highs are incredible and the lows are pretty decent too. I'm not into sound systems with deep bass so these speakers are perfect for me. If you want deeper bass, then you need a subwoofer.

Installation was OK in a 2006 Toyota Highlander. The brackets fit perfectly for the rear doors but not for the front doors. I had to drill a extra hole on each bracket so they will fit perfectly. I have 4 of these and paired them with a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP and all I can say is that I'm very impressed.

As usual Crutchfield rocks! They are #1 in Customer satisfaction.

2006 Outback Sport Install

Written By christopher, New Orleans, LA on Monday, May 29, 2006

A little redundant by now, but these really are great speakers. My head unit is the Alpine CDA-9857 and with that driving the speakers (no amp required) I am hearing highs and mids that were completely lacking with the factory "premium" sound package. The lows are there but lack punch, but my Kenwood KSC-SW1 sub is taking on that duty. Thanks to lessons learned installing Polk's 400 in the rear doors, installation was relatively quick, despite having to remove the entire door panel.

This buying experience was fantastic! Thanks to the great installation instructions and free kits, I had these speakers in my Sierra in about 45 minutes. I could not believe how easy the installation was and how terrific the speakers sound, only problem is now my rear (stock) speakers sound horrible so I will be replacing those also. I highly recommend these speakers and Crutchfield!

I got this hooked up to my 2001 integra and all i can say is WOW!!! these are hooked up to my pioneer DEH-P6800MP and it powers it quite nicely. the best part is ordering it from here which included wireing adapters which utlizes the stock wireing which makes the installation quick and easy. The reason i ordered these was because they were the most reviewed and everyone said they liked em, so i gave em a try and it was well worth my money spent. Great price and everything. Great speakers

Written By fendernut14, Rochester, NY on Sunday, April 09, 2006

Great speakers definitely a bargain at the price they're being sold for. I put these in my 97 s-10 ext. cab, and so in that small space i've got 6 speakers surrounding me, and the polk's definitely add some bass and sound quality over the old ones i had. If you want deep, deep bass, so everyone around you knows what you're listening to, you'll want a sub, but for 6 1/2 inches, these are great.

Awesome highs

Written By Steve, Stow, MA on Sunday, March 19, 2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I first installed these speakers in my 05 Civic, I noticed they weren't as loud as the stock ones. I'm running these off of an Alpine 9847 deck pushing 18W per channel and the RMS on these speakers is 6-60W, and my stock RMS was like 15, so thats why they weren't as loud. But, when you turn these up, the mids, and especially the highs sound great, and don't lose anything. However, the bass does distort quite a bit at high volumes. I don't know if thats because I don't have an amp, or thats just the way these speakers are. I have two Alpine Type-E's running of an Alpine MRP-M350 so with the bass turned down, these speakers sound great with the subs to compliment them. If want good bass and don't want to buy subwoofers, then these speakers arent a good choice. But if you have an alternative choice for bass, these are great.

Double check application these may fit!

Written By Steven, Newark, DE on Tuesday, March 14, 2006

This is my second pair of 6-1/2" Polk speakers. The last ones were GXRs and were very good, these are great!

Take the advice of other reviewers, and give these speakers a chance. They sound a bit brassy when brand new but after an hour or so of use really develop. You need to break them in but man once you do they are great, and sound excellent with just the power of your head unit, I can't imagine what they would sound like powered by an external amp.

NOTE: Double check your vehicle fitment. Crutchfield said these wouldn't fit my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. They fit in the rear perfect. They require drilling two mounting holes in the front and are tight against the door panel but they fit fine with zero vibration. You will need to buy some extra small crimp on spade connectors for the negative terminals of these speakers to connect these right.

Perfect for application

Installed in the soundbar of my wrangler and what a difference over the factory speakers. Its highs to midbass are perfect. If you want strong bass from these they are not for you, but when paired with components in the front these in the mid and a sub for the back...everything together is amazing. Highly recommend these units.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After reading all of the reviews here and on Polk's website, I bought 2 pairs of these for my 2005 Civic Si hatchback. I had decided to go subless in this install to retain all of my valuable cargo space, and wanted speakers that would play as low as possible and still fit my car (without modification). I was a little skeptical about not having an aluminum dome tweeter because I like clean, bright highs (because that is all I have ever had, long time memphis audio user all the way back to when they were aria) but my doubts have faded. I am blown away at the soft clarity and crispness of the silk composite and the bass response is far better than what I expected. They won't play sub bass but are rated down to 40hz. Running off of a pioneer premier head unit at 22x4 continuous(can't believe they sound as good as they do without an amp), and nicely eq'd, these things are great. I am converted to Polk forever.

Excellent upgrade from factory speakers

Written By Midiman, Boynton Beach, FL on Thursday, March 02, 2006

I inherited a 2002 Honda CRV from my wife (after I bought her a brand new van). The factory speakers in this CRV make my ears hurt every time I had to listen to them. I blindly purchased two of these db650s to replace the front speakers. I didn't read any reviews nor did I do any research. Lucky me. The result was so amazing that I purchased two more to replace the rear speakers. I am particularly impressed with the full, crisp bass that these produce. This is the first time I've attempted to install speakers in my car, and Crutchfield's step by step instructions made it such a breeze. I definitely recommend these speakers (and Crutchfield).

These speakers are phenomenal ! They hit every note. They are pretty good with bass too. Better then I've ever had. It COULD use a 10" sub to accompany it. But, really no need. just get these speakers instead of looking at all the A+ reviews. GET THEM !
