Our take on the Polk Audio db6501

Good music becomes great when you hear it through Polk's db Series car speakers. Polk engineers use laser imaging to determine the ideal combination of speaker materials and design to eliminate distortion. The resulting technology produces speakers with smooth frequency response, sharp detail, and the ability to play music at high volumes without strain.

Polk performance

Good music becomes great when you hear it through Polk's db Series car speakers. Polk engineers use laser imaging to determine the ideal combination of speaker materials and design to eliminate distortion. The resulting technology produces speakers with smooth frequency response, sharp detail, and the ability to play music at high volumes without strain.

Polk's versatile db6501 component speaker system features 6-1/2" woofers made from a polymer/mica composite and durable rubber surrounds that won't fall apart under stress from heat, moisture, or time. Liquid-cooled 1" silk/polymer dome tweeters use powerful Neodymium magnets to deliver precise high-frequency reproduction, enveloping you in bright musical detail. You can surface- or flush-mount the tweeters with the included swivel-mount cups. Just aim the tweeters so they broadcast toward your ears, creating a powerful stereo image.

External crossovers direct the right frequencies to the tweeters and woofers to maximize their performance, and their housings let you hide all wiring for a clean, professional look. These speakers feature stainless steel mounting hardware and muscular ABS grilles that will add a stylish touch to your car's interior. And Polk certifies their db Series speakers for marine applications, so they're a great choice for your boat, motorcycle, or ATV.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Great Entry Level Components

Written by: JP from Waianae, HI on May 2, 2016

2015 Scion xB

I need to begin this review by saying that prior to purchasing these speakers I had a set of Focal Polyglass V2's. However, after selling my truck and purchasing my new XB I realized that I needed more sound to be happy. This time around, I did not have the same budget as I did on my truck so I had to do some research in putting my system together. To save monies I decided to go with these Polk components for the fronts and Polk 651s for the rears. I spent most of my monies on a JL Audio Stealth Box, Kenwood Excelon 393 head unit, and an Alpine PDX V9 5 channel. I can confirm after a couple months with the system that the components put out a very neutral sound. Like some have said on here, the tweeters may be a bit harsh if left on the default setting so you may want to switch it to -3 dbs. The highs are not as bright as my beloved Focal's but they are still clean and clear. The mid-bass does not pound as much as the Focal's, but you can still hear the music the way it was meant to sound. Listening to hip-hop you can hear every drum snare, keyboard sound and lyrics come out clear. Guitars and drums come out clean in rock songs. EDM sounds wonderful, and when cranked up, I feel like I'm at a club. On their own, you won't get much bass, especially if you have a High Pass Filter setup on your amp. You will need to pair these with a sub to get a more rounded sound. Overall, I must say that I got great sound quality for great price.

Pros: + Very neutral and clean + You can hear the music the way it was meant to sound + Great bang for your buck

Cons: - Not as bright or punchy as more expensive speakers - Need to adjust crossover to -3db if you are using an amp - I miss my Focal components, but not as much with these Polks

Fast delivery from Crutchfield (as usual). Install was easier than normal because of the included speaker and wiring adapters. If you're driving around with those crummy factory speakers make the upgrade. You won't be disappointed!

Pros: Solid bass, clear midrange and smooth highs. Just what I expect from Polk component speakers.

Cons: None I can think of.

Fits in the door panel replacing original Speaker. You will have to fabricate your own mount out of 1/4 and 1/2 inch MDF. No biggie. Tweeter fits fine in the door fin. Great sound and a definate upgrade!

Pros: Sound, ease of installation, Price

Cons: Nothing I can think of. If only they made mounts like the rear.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I researched extensively for speaker options for my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. I finally settled on the Polk db6501's (along with a Clarion XC1410 amp and a Blaupunkt GTb 8200 A subwoofer). They sound great! (You do need a universal backstrap for each tweeter.)

Pros: Sound great Reasonable price Woofer fits great

Cons: Need a backstrap for each tweeter (but very easy to do, just be sure to order them)

In a word - Awesome!

Written by: David from san antonio, TX on March 2, 2016

Installed in a 2003 Maxima. Was able to use the factory (Bose) speaker brackets, no modifications necessary. The real challenge was getting new speaker wire run through the car panel and into the door. I was able to feed the wire through the wiring grommet in the door and then added a heat shrink sleeve and tucked the wire behind the rubber door seal. Combined these with the Alpine 445U (very compact) amp and hid it in the console. Also added Kicker 40CS54 5.25 coax speakers for the rear doors (also fit the factory brackets with no modifications) and...wow! The combined set up is amazing. I didn't know what great sound was like until I had all of this installed. I also have an 8" Kicker sub and Kicker mono amp (thanks, Crutchfield!). The Polks offer very clear sound from the tweeters, which I have set to 0db at the crossover, and also offer very rich bass. I also can't believe the amount of volume that the little Kickers can handle. Overall, all the speakers complement each other amazingly. I'd dare say this is a perfect speaker/amp combo.

Pros: Very rich bass, clear tweeters, clean sound all the way up to as much as I can handle without blowing my eardrums.

Cons: None!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these in my '08 Audi A4 and I have to say that with an aftermarket Kenwood Excellon stereo using the internal amp, they sound amazing. The imaging and balance is better than I expected. One note: Initially, they sounded tinny with no low end. They take a little while to break in, in my case it was about 30 hours of listening. After that, they opened up and sound very natural. Crossover was fairly large and difficult to locate in my door panel. I have the DB651 also but these sound so much better.

Pros: Great sound quality. Price. Looked like good build quality.

Cons: Remember that it has a fairly large crossover which must be placed somewhere.

2008 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been a Polk Audio customer for at least 20 years from home, auto and portable. Always been satisfied. There are better items available, but for a price. Installed the 6 1/2 separates in my 08 taho and 05 saabaru 9-2x. It wasnt night and day difference as expressed by others what it was,,,, a clarity revelation. Both cars have kenwood 2din head units no extra amps. The stock speakers produced more bass at the expense of clarity and frequency. These separates produced highs that aren't cut off and mid bass that opens and breathes. After at least 40 hours of use the speakers became more musical (meaning they sounded less harsh and more instrumental) out of the box a tad disappointing but give some time, even your stock speakers needed time to break in. I could hear detail in both cars I didn't hear with the stockers. These do rob you of low boomy bass but bring you tight mid bass. Unless you somehow have a midbass subwoofer in your door; you will want a sub for the low notes. Even a simple under the seat model for less space robbing. I bought a kenwood KSC-SW11 under the seat for the taco and a Blaupunkt GTb 8200 A for the Saab. Both do the same job the blaupunkt is deeper and less boomy. Both units take up little space and keep the paper in your wallet. Can you find better than these items, absolutely, break out the credit card and spend till you hit the limit. Hope this helps make a decision. Not a 5 star because nothing is perfect for the price.

Pros: Good clarity, very musical, great midbass sound.

Cons: If its a con, need a sub for the lows. Very few door speakers hit low notes that a dedicated amplified speaker would.

Good for the money, but that's it. I have i them connected to a 100w rms per channel pioneer amp. They play loud but get very harsh at the higher volumes. I can't comment on the lows as ib have a sub that takes care of that.

Pros: Good value

Cons: Harsh at higher volume

I purchased and had them installed into a 2013 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax. As a first time owner of components I just knew that that was the way to go. And man am I happy. The mids hit hard with out distortion and the hi's are crystal clear. Still need and want to compare with other amplified components. Totally satisfied with they though :) Just purchased the Polk DXi6501's and looking forward to comparing the two.

Pros: Very good price and outstanding performance.

Cons: Grille looks funny so, just used the factory grill.

2006 Tundra Access Cab (Premium Sound without JBL)

Written by: Scott from California on October 6, 2015

The tweeter fits perfectly, using factory tweeter bracket. Bend down the small piece of metal that holds the original tweeter wire (which you won;t need), to make sure the Polk tweeter can't move towards bottom of the door - fits like a glove. However, the woofer does NOT fit the factory woofer housing. The Polk-supplied speaker brackets do not fix the problem - they line up with the woofer, but not the factory housing. I purchased the majority of my system from Crutchfield, but had these speakers from a prior project. It is a close fit, but not close enough. Not sure if Polk has changed the supplied speaker brackets, but they do not fit.

2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers 6 years ago in my 2000 Silverado extended cab pickup. These fit into the doors with a little modification. Instead of using all the provided connectors, I decided to solder all the connections for the best possible sound. With a great amp and crossover set, these front speakers provide EXCELLENT clarity, EXCELLENT, crisp highs and mids. I am using foam baffles purchased from Crutchfield and have sealed and taped the plastic sheeting in my door down to alleviate any vibration. After 6 years and 150,000 miles of use, one mid failed and I loved them so much,I purchased another set. ...had to de-solder and re-solder, but very happy!

Pros: Clarity, highs, lows

Cons: One mid failed after 6 years of constant use... if you consider this a con

Written by: Colton S from Alabama on September 16, 2015

Crutchfield says that these do not fit a 2004 Mini Cooper, but I took a gamble and got them anyways and figured I would modify them to fit. Turns out these are a perfect fit straight out of the box, lions up to factory screw holes and everything. Just remove the oldd and and score these right in. Crutchfield really needs to change that it says they don't fit, but other than that great product!

Pros: Sound great

Cons: Crutchfield says they will not fit 04 mini but they do

Crutchfield response on September 22, 2015 We reviewed our OutfitMyCarT tool, and it actually shows these Polk speakers as a fit in the front door locations using a bracket or some possible re-drilling of the screw holes. They are not shown as a fit for the rear panels, due to the lack of clearance under the factory panels.

Excellent with a few caveats

Written by: Seth from Florida on August 27, 2015

Picked up these speakers along with the db651 coaxials on the recommendation of a Crutchfield advisor. The advisor recommended an Alpine MRV-F300 4 channel amp (50W RMS x 4 @ 4O) to power them. I must say that to really sound great, these speakers require a lot more power. If you can't give them the 100 watts they need, you'll be leaving some sound on the table. I ended up bridging my amp to give 150W RMS x 2 @ 4O and the difference in sound quality was huge. I ended up just letting my head unit power the rear speakers because the fronts sound soooo much better with the additional power. One issue that I ran into during my installation is that the crossovers can be sensitive to picking up noise depending on where in the vehicle you place them. I initially had mine in the front kick panels but I noticed that when my headlights came on a faint buzzing could be heard---even when the speaker wires were disconnected from the amp! The crossover was the culprit. I relocated it and the noise is gone.

Pros: Great value, smooth sound.

Cons: Need lots of power to really shine, crossover is sensitive to induced noise.

2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I own a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. I found a dealer to install these, even though he doesn't carry the Polk Audio brand. He asked a couple times why I don't want the Rockford Fosgate/Kicker, or other brand speaker (which he sold). He also wanted to sell me a subwoofer. I told him these have better specs. He was unimpressed. I have Polk Audio front and rear matched up with the new high power Sony receiver. When the installation was done, he turned up the volume for a test run. At 100% volume, he began to smile and his eyes got wide. He said "Man, is this clear. It sounds great!" I told him he should start selling Polk Audio and he responded "I probably should." We both agree, I do not need a subwoofer. I can't imagine why people would spend more money to buy lesser speakers? Look at the specifications people. These are amazing speakers with top notch materials and they are marine approved. Good thing with the top off of the Jeep. I had Polk Audio in my last Jeep and will continue to buy Polk Audio as long as they make the best speakers on the market.

Pros: Best frequency response I could find in a 6.5 inch round. Top of the line materials. Excellent power handling. Marine rated, which is great for having the top down. Excellent sound (clarity and quality). Not that I care, but they look great as well.

Cons: Not one.

Written by: rottboy - 2015 Honda Fit LX from Hawaii on March 29, 2015

Installed Polk DB-6501 components last Oct., 2014 after taking delivery of our 2015 Honda Fit. Coming from the wife's Lexus RX350 equipped with the factory M. Levinson system, I knew my sound requirements would be unhappy with the stock Honda sounds like that of my previous '08 Fit. Wanting to maintain the OEM HU (reverse park camera integrated to HU screen), upgraded the audio components with an Audison processor, a Kenwood 4 channel Excelon amp and a Kenwood powered sub. To get the maximum results, installed sound-deadened (using MLV, CCL, CLD tiles) since the whole interior was taken apart to do wiring simultaneously. It took me two weeks working a couple hours daily. In the end, worth all the effort. With the OEM HU retained, the steering controls including phone controls are maintained. Sound difference however, is astounding!!! Every instrument can be clearly heard as well as distinct separation from L-R + F-R. My only advise would be to use a decent amp to power the Polks to achieve its potential. Using the power from any factory OEM HU would be giving these speakers an injustice. If wanting to upgrade the cheapo factory speakers, your better off to buy more efficiently rated speakers (cheaper-10 to 30 watts). Supplied speaker brackets need a bit of minor modification doable with a Dremel to make them fit the Honda's factory holes. No sheet metal drilling was required. Driving this little eco sub-compact is now extremely pleasureable both city & hwy.

Pros: - easy install - defined highs, mids

Cons: - needs a decent power amp - tweeter is pretty sharp but can be toned down through the crossover

Awesome set.

Very Efficient But Sound A Bit Hollow In My Application

Written by: sirbOOmdotcom from United States on January 26, 2015

These are clearly MUCH more efficient than my stock speakers. I bought these due to a combination of price and efficiency. I have the doors deadened and sealed and both the tweeter and woofer are in the door as close to the stock speaker grills as possible. I guess I'm used to the high-end speakers in my other vehicle or maybe it is the, let's be honest, cheap PPI ION amplifier (hey... it's a commuter car, I don't want to dump money into it). They are louder than stock on the same power but they sound almost the same as stock - there really isn't much (if any) improved detail or air. The midbass is tighter and a teeny but more plentiful, but vocals sound a bit unnatural - the word "plastic" comes to mind when I think of how vocals sound. Alas, there are nice things about these. They're shallow and fit in 2006 Kia Spectra doors (after gutting the stock speakers) like a champ. The tweeter was a pain to put in the stock location but I got it in there because I'm the man (and I think the stock location for the tweeter is partially to blame for what I'm missing in this speaker set). I wasn't provided mounting screws, which was annoying, but everyone has some screws at home so no big deal. Overall, was it worth it to install these? Well, sure... the stereo is louder and tighter overall better... just not hugely so.

Pros: Shallow Depth Tweeter is Not Harsh Acceptable Midbass in Deadened Doors

Cons: Tweeter Is Too Mild, Actually Vocals Sound Hollow/Not Natural Sound Out of Phase Sometimes but Aren't

My son and myself installed these speakers in the front doors of his VW Passat and, wow, huge difference in sound, the car has a factory sunomi head unit which sounded ok, we had planned to get newer head unit later but after hearing these system with these speakers I think we will just wire a control wire to the cd chager input and get another pair of these speakers for the rear doors and a powered sub in the trunk for his hip hop and rap

Pros: good mid bass easy to install great high end sound

Pros: Sound quality is great!

Cons: tweeters are difficult to install if you don't have a place for them but the hardware makes up for it. One of the tweeters had a rattle and seemed blown right out of the box but it was quickly resolved by Crutchfield! (Great customer service!)

These speaker sound great no amp installed yet. They sound awesome, removed the bose speakers from my GMC Sierra and placed tweeters on the original site on the pillars. I have Alpine 6 1/2 type S in the rear. It took some modification to place there as I had to cut the inside of the bose tweeter cover for the back to be flush but it was well worth the effort for better acoustics. A new head unit is the works (I'm thinking the Kenwood DDX471 HD) and will be pushing them with a 4 channel Alpine I currently own.

Pros: Clear sound. Great quality.

I just blew my passenger side speaker, and I was bummed, because of the price I paid for these. Then, as I was looking up the warranty info, I remembered that I'd actually blown one of these Polks right after I bought it. I have an amp, bridged to 90w RMS per channel, with the gain set to about nill, and an Alipine HU I purchased here. After reading several reviews here about build quality on the Polks, I realize it's not me; it's them.

I found the Polk speakers to be of excellent quality. The speakers were competitively priced. I was unaware of what I was missing from the tweeters until these were installed. The supplied speaker mounts and wiring harnesses were priceless. However, the Crutchfield team is truly awesome with their support. They were there to help even on the 4th of July.

2007 Chevrolet Silverado (New Body Style
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers for my 2007 NNBS Silverado because I heard the DXI series at a BB. Read the review online and many people rave but say you need to amp them. I have not amped them and let me say that they sound fantastic. Much better detail, accuracy and clarity over the stock Silverado speakers. I did put in Dynamat around the opening and sealed much of the door. But these speakers are so pleasant to listen too. Not over bearing with the tweeter, just a smooth sound. Woofer puts out some great mid bass. Some people feel it lacks, maybe for hip hop..but I think it puts a nice bottom end to most music. If you are on the fence about these speakers, just go with your gut and buy them. You won't regret them at all.

Pros: Great speakers! Cannot imagine getting better sound

Cons: Crossover was a bit tricky to install due to size but I made it work.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really like these speakers! I didn't find them too bright for the music I listen to (rock, blues, country and some classical). The bass is slightly lacking, but not overly so, in my opinion. I have a Kenwood Excelon head unit with lots of adjust ability but no external amp or subs (for now). The difference between these and stock paper cone speakers is probably why some people thought they are 'too bright'. You will hear so much more of the music that it was lacking before, and it might just come down to tailoring the sound with your preset, or manual equalization of your head unit. If you run these with a stock head unit and don't have much adjustability, by all means step up to an aftermarket unit. I run these in the front of my 99 Tacoma extended cab with the Polk coax 651's in the rear. I love the sound of Allison Krauss through these. I really agonized over the placement of the tweeters, but ended up putting them in the sail panels and really enjoy the sound. If you like more bass heavy music, add a sub, you would with any speaker, Overall, for my listening tastes these were a great choice!

Pros: Huge improvement over stock speakers, exactly what I was looking for.

Cons: Slightly light in the bass, but still pretty good

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love these 6.5's. Once you supply them the power they want, the are beast! The tweeters on the other hand are killing me! It doesn't matter what volume level, or what gain setting on the amp I use. They are shrill/very bright. It's driving me crazy trying to get these tweets to sound right with the rest of the system. I have the -3 db set on its crossover and that helped but not near enough. Turning the gain on the amp down helps but then you lose the power the 6.5s crave. I'm at loss with these tweets.

Pros: The 6.5's are amazing for this price point when supplied the power they want.

Cons: For my ears...These tweeters suck!! I may just have to replace them.

What a difference from factory '07 Ridgeline speakers... arrived on time and installed the woofers in less than an hour, thanks to good directions, wasn't all that impressed at first (I still hadn't installed the tweeters) and after getting a few extra little things to install the tweeters I did a custom door integration rather than fiddle with the dash and door connectors and after powering up and a few minutes of "tuning" with the stock head they sound AMAZING! Mid range in crystal clear and tweeters sing the highs like nothing else! I don't want to get out of the car now!! Looking to order second pair for rear doors and custom mount those tweeters too, they are a little quieter than factory speakers (as expected) but can easily handle a large amp install, bottom line I love these things!

Pros: Absolutely amazing Mid range and Highs, Tweeters have a "modern" look that fits in well, as well as flush or surface mount options

Cons: No real cons, installation was easy, they don't sound "good" they sound beautiful.

I paired this 6 speaker system with the Sony MEX-8T3100P CD receiver. (Please see my review for that product for more details.) These speakers work well with the receiver. There is a separate pair of tweeters! The bass is thumpring (if you like that sorta thing.) The balance is great. No bad words for the speakers. I installed the speakers in my 1998 Dodge Durango. An almost 1000% improvement over my old partially working speakers (1 front, 1 back.)

Pros: The speakers sound amazing. I get all 3 levels clearly. The tweeters provide a clear sound and they are mounted on my door. There were no separate tweeters with the factory setup. My installer cut a hole in the door especially more the tweeters. Very glad I made the change. These value speakers work especially well with my receiver. Even with the installation fee, they are still worth the value.

Cons: There are none that I can discuss.

These speakers sound incredible. Couldn't be more happy with these Polks. They sound crisp and clear full range at all decibel levels. I installed them in a 2002 Subaru Forester, they have a manufactured place for the tweeters in the front door moldings. I was questioned the fit of the tweeters until I got the door back together and wal-ah.....perfect fit. I would recommend these speakers to anybody! I would also agree with the previous reviewers, these speakers need more power than a standard deck output and spend the money on some kind of sound dampening material for the doors. I bought a product from Meijers called Scoche (half the cost of dynomat and its the same thing). I matched mine with a 45 watt RMS amp: Kenwood KDC-X996 Alpine KTP-445U

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these a few years back, they were working fine for about a few months then they decided to develop a crackling/distorted sound from the woofers. Called Crutchfield, gave them the specs of the amp used, headunit etc, nothing out of the ordinary and they sent out a new set. Swapped them out and they were good for the rest of the year. Last year they exhibited the same crackling at soft/loud volume levels. Too late for an exchange from Crutchfield. I'm so put off with the entire purchase, I could not with all honesty recommend these at all. They are currently being powered with a JL Audio XD 700/5. What's ironic is the pair of DB coaxials I have in the rear of my car are working just fine. Something about the DB components fails far too soon. First and last set of Polks for me. If I could give these no stars I would.

Pros: Higher wattage, seemed to be built well enough to give years of trouble free service.

Cons: Crackling sounds, failed crossovers/voicecoil. Poor runtime and fail just after the warranty expires.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my second set I purchased but I haven't installed yet. This set (4 total) are heading into a 2000 TA. The first set I used to replace all 4 door speakers in an 08 Avalanche. I have them hooked up to an old school Lanzar 240s amp with the gain at about 75%. They are crisp and clear until you have the music way up - up at unsustainable listening levels. They handle the power and I had to turn the gain on the crossovers down for the tweeters because they are producing ear piercing highs. Bass is OK, could be better but for what they are - they are good enough. The sub takes care of the boom. No problems with speakers - been in the truck over a year and they get abused every day with the music up during my commute. Don't know how they will hold up as competition speakers but I guess I will find out once they get installed in the TA

Pros: Crisp and clear until way past RMS, handle lots of abuse

Cons: Ear piercing High's if you don't adjust the crossover properly.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have mixed feelings on these speakers. I have gone through 3 sets. I purchased them a couple of years back to install in my 06 Chrysler 300C. I am powering them with a D450.4 amp. I have 12" subs on 2 of the channels so really wasn't looking for these to produce a lot of bass. I ran them with the gain on the amp almost completely down. One of the woofers quit working and Crutchfield was outstanding. They sent me a replacement set so I could change the whole system or just the speaker that blew. A few months later another speaker blew again and once again Crutchfield was great. I thought they were blowing due to fault of my own. I run my system HARD. This time I adjusted the high pass filter on my amp and headunit to pretty much take out all of the bass going to the components. That worked good for a year and then out of no where, both of my tweeters quit working. What the world???? This happened just outside of my 1 year warranty so I am out of luck. I am going to replace them with 3.5 speakers. As much as I am trying to find fault in myself for running my system so hard, I am having a hard time doing that.

Pros: Good sound, easy installation. Great customer support from Crutchfield.

Cons: Reliability. Every component of the system has broke at one time or another with the exception of the crossovers.

Amazing when used what they are intended for!

Written by: Nate from Salem, Or on September 10, 2012

There are a few things people need to realize. I have read reviews where people are not happy because there is little bass out put. These speakers are meant to be used for more of a mid-bass and highs, sound to ACCOMPANY a sub or subs. You wont get power bass out of these since they are not designed to do so. Other people say they sound terrible when run off of their head unit. They NEED to have an amp. Also, it is possible to damage speakers by UNDER powering them, as well as over powering. That all being said, I have two sets of these in my 93 4Runner in all four doors, powerd by an Alpine PDX 4.100 amp. I have run them for over 5 years now and they still sound amazing. Great mid-bass and clear crisp highs. I am also running one Kicker Comp VR 10" sub in a slotted box, powered by an Alpine PDX 1.600. This combination works wonderful for all music types, and is not overkill in any way. It was very reasonably priced for the quality. Sorry if this is a rant or too long, but people need to know things like this before spending money, then being upset or disappointed. These speakers are wonderful. I have been in the car audio business for over 18 years now, and these impressed me.

Pros: Everything is well done and sound great when properly powered.

Cons: None

Replaced some Pioneer component speakers with these in the front doors of a '09 Accord. The Polk speakers cost $90 more, but you really get what you pay for. I'd recommend forking out the extra money if you really value sound quality. These speakers bring out every little nuance/detail from your music. I would not buy these speakers without buying an amp that provides adequate power. They need proper power to do them justice. I am running them through a Sound Ordnance M4100 amp and they sound amazing. Also would recommend installing Dynamat in the front door panels...it creates a great bass response. Before the Dynamat I had no bass.

Pros: Awesome clarity/detail.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

OK, the first set was in my GF's 4Runner. It sounded so good I immediately ordered a set for my Wrangler JK. Actually made a more noticeable, remarkable difference in the Toyota, but that is likely due to the crappier existing speaks. Vocals, guitar, and hand claps in live recordings that I've never heard before!

Pros: value clear highs separation, presence

Cons: none

Fantastic Speaker when powered correctly

Written by: RaulH from Clawson, Mi on July 9, 2012

I have these speakers coupled with an Alpine MRX-F30 amplifier and holy cow can they hit! Extremely clear vocals, bass is very tight and punchy, just what I expected. Now, I truly understand what good bass from a component speaker can sound like. Anyone saying these cannot produce bass does not have enough power to them. They Love power.

Pros: Outstanding speaker for the price, sound as good as speakers costing three times as much!

Cons: None.

Not too bad...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not a bad set of components. The bass is completely missing, but the accuracy of mids and highs is much better than the stockers these speakers replace. I am hearing things that I've never heard before in my music. I strayed from my usual Infinity purchases to try these Polks, and while they aren't fantastic enough to do it again, I am not too disappointed.

Pros: SQ accuracy, adjustable crossovers (although I use 0db; -3db cuts too much out and +3db is too harsh)

Cons: Serious lack of bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased my first pair from Crutchfield and installed them in a 07 Subaru Impreza. They sounded great for a week then started to distort at any/all volume levels. Crutchfield was great in shipping a replacement set out to me, which did the trick. Unfortunately that only lasted for about a year and now they are exhibiting the same distortion and any/all volume levels. Two times is enough for me to look elsewhere. The quality isn't there. Tweeter screens come loose and fall off in extreme heat during the summer.

Pros: Handles higher wattage.

Cons: Prone to failure, distortion, crackling. Tweeter grill's come loose in summer heat and fall off.

Great speakers for the money

Pros:

Cons: Not the problem with the speaker but I had to fabricate a bracket to be able to install the speakers. The bracket that Crutchfield supplied did not work. I gutted my factory speakers and mounted the bracket that Crutchfield sent to the factory bracket. In the end all worked great.

Great factory upgrade, ideal for most.

Written by: Kaltenberg91 from Wisconsin on May 25, 2012

Have owned these for a couple years and use them every day. They are a great upgrade from factory and give a rich clear sound. When used with a subwoofer at low to moderate volume they have a really balanced sound. After some time and occasions where I cranked them higher than normal listening volume they've began to show some wear. Still sounding great at normal volumes they begin to distort more rapidly than before as higher volumes are reached. Overall great speakers, and definitely cant complain with the price. Don't buy your gear anywhere besides Crutchfield, they give you everything needed to make installation quick n easy.

Pros: Very clear, crisp sounding speakers. Best you can buy for the cost.

Cons: Lacking bass (as far as 6.5" components can go) High volumes had shown "wear" on the speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So I got these and was a little surprised by the wait. They were very light but like mentioned in the other review do not let that fool you they are LOUD. However they are a little on the Scratchy side. I have these in the front and back powered with a Hifonics 4x100 rms channel amp. In the back they sound very crisp and clear and don't have the ear irritating Scratch. Though in the front they do have an annoying high pitch scratchy sound when vocals or really anything is played at high volume. I figured that the reason this was because the tweeter was closer to my ear then on the back. So If you get these make sure u put the tweeter pretty close to the mid.

Pros: pretty solid for the price and really loud.

Cons: could have more bass but whatever I have subs so it takes care of that. Much rather have gotten the DLS Ultimate UP6i but because of the buy one get one half of i went with these.

I bought these to replace my front factory speakers in my 02 Z71,and let me tell you they sound great and all i"m running for power is a new kenwood cd player thats 50 watts,I cant wait to hear them with a amp.they were kinda hard to put in the crossovers i had to mount under the dash, and the factory tweeters were alot bigger than the polks so I tore the old tweeters apart and used the old mounts to mount the new ones on..took me and 2 other guys 2hrs but well worth the time..great speakers with a great sound make sure you have a amp to push them to get the best sound out of them..I would recomend these to anyone that want a great sounding speaker without breaking the bank..

I really enjoy the dynamics of this speaker. My old songs sound new again. It does take some ingenuity to install these properly. But that's what Tech supports is for.

Pros: Looks slick. Great value

Cons: The crossovers are bulky and take some planning out as to where to mount them and how to do the wire runs.

They sound way too harsh. The tweets are annoyingly piercing. The mids aren't clear and almost non-existent. My factory speakers sounded better than these. I'm powering them with a polk audio pa.1100.5 amp. I have the Polk mm6501s in the front and they sound 10x better. They're much warmer, have decent bass coming out of the woofer, and the tweets sound very detailed.

Good for everything except rock

Written by: musicfan145 from Atlanta, GA on June 22, 2011

I purchased two sets and I have used them in several configurations. As others have said, they really need some amp power in order to sound good. They also require some experimentation in order to get the best sound. My findings were: - The mid-bass is great if you don't choke it off by sealing them off in a set of speaker baffles, especially the "low profile" ones. (These are marine certified, so you don't have to worry about protecting them from water.) - As another reviewer mentioned, they don't do well reproducing rock electric guitar tone. Definitely better for jazz, classical, and even hip-hop and techno. - The highs can be a little bright, but they are definitely not as harsh as the hard dome tweeters from Infinity. Be prepared to experiment with tweeter placement, aiming, and treble equalization in order to get it just right. (I found that I actually liked them better mounted low, near the woofer, than I did on the sail panels.) Also, I should mention that I put one set of these in a boat, and they are heading into their third summer. Driven only by the head unit, they play loud enough to hear over the (inboard) engine, but they do get distorted at high volumes. Other than the weakness in rock guitar, my only complaint is that the install hardware quality could be better. Probably not an issue for most people, but things do tend to get bent/broken/worn over the course of multiple cycles of installing/uninstalling/moving the components.

Great bargain; tons of bass when amped

Written by: kontai69 from Vacaville, CA on April 20, 2011

I bought these speakers and installed them in the front doors of my 2011 Honda CR-V. I was immediately impressed (maybe even surprised) with the build quality and finish of these inexpensive speakers. They also come with stainless steel hardware, rigid spacers, and speaker wires. Nice touches! Driven by just the factory Honda headunit, the sound quality is noticably improved over the factory speakers. The bass is a little tighter and the treble has more sparkle and detail (have the treble output set a 0db on the xovers). There is also more spaciousness to the sound. However, with the factory headunit, the sound lacked dynamics and impact, especially in the bass. I soon installed and powered them with a JL Audio amp and Audiocontrol LOC. With the sub channel turned off and the bass boost on the LOC turned up, the bass output is unreal...super strong and loud. Again, keep in mind that I dampened and sealed the doors with Dynamat which helps with the bass output. The overall dynamics are also noticably improved by amping them. In short, I highly recommend these speakers. They sound great and are really a great bargain.

I have four of these speakers in my 2003 quadcab Dakota. They are powered by a JL audio 500/5. It is a match made in heaven. I think you should leave your crossover at zero. If you have a great amp and headunit they will clean up nicely. Keep in mind that these pups need power to reach the level of quality expected from polk. The tweeters produce very clean and deatiled highs. You will hear things in the music that you have never heard before. The mids are give excellent bass or perfect mid level bass depending on your amp settings. You can't go wrong with these speakers! HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!!

Replaced the front speakers in my '04 GTO with these speakers. Easy swap out, since the factory system had hidden tweeters already in the dash. The instructions provided were precise enough to get it done without a hitch. My factory speakers sounded dull and it was hard to understand speach over the normal road noise. Bought for my '97 Subaru Outback (project car); driving the speakers with Alpine HU w/plug n play amp. I've been pleasantly surprised with the quality of these speakers. Great range and an exceptional value. Installation was quite simple since Subaru already had the tweeters in the sail panel. I put the crossovers in the door w/no problems. For you Subee afficionados, the "universal" mounting bracket for the subwoofer isn't - you'll have to drill new holes to mount the subs. As I pretty much blew my budget (replaced the whole system), I decided to forego the dynamat or equivalent. Big mistake! I've got distortion in the subs with some of the music but, more to the point, the clarity and range of the setup is so good that I want to enjoy the speakers to their fullest by adding sound dampening. I'll be adding dampening material soon. I'd buy again and highly recommend.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sounding component speakers! I installed these in the front doors of my 2000 Toyota Tacoma extra cab. I mounted the crossovers in the kick panel and the tweeters are high on the door. The sound quality is great! The highs are crisp and rich and the woofers hit solid. I got the dynamat speaker kit and the woofer sounds tight in a good way! The only complaint I have is that the tweeters seem to get harsh too quickly at higher volume levels. I realize that high volume and distortion do this, but I was hoping the distortion or harsh level would be a little later on the twist of the volume knob. I am running a Bazooka 65w per channel @ 4ohm amp. Perhaps if I had spent out a little more on the amp I may could get what I am after. Enough about the negatives. These are great sounding speakers and I don't think you can go wrong with them. One unique thing that I can report on that may be of help to someone trying to decide on these versus the cheaper Sound Ordinance components is the fact that I got the S/O for the rear of my extra cab. Since the tweeter and woofer proximity from my ears are very similar to the Polks and they are powered from the same Bazooka 4 channel amp, I think I can give a fairly accurate "Apples to Apples" report of the difference in sound quality. My summary - the Polks sound like $200 speakers and the S/0 sound like $100 ones. The Polks are worth the extra money, but the S/0 will not let you down if you are on a budget.

I have always used Boston Acoustics components in my vehicles in the past, but from the way these Polk db 6501 components perform, I may have to rethink that loyalty. I had to stick to a pretty tight budget this time so I chose these speakers to handle the highs and mids, and I have been pleasantly surprised. The tweeters are very smooth and easy to listen to at a high volume, and the woofers are loud, accurate, and seem to handle a good amount of power without complaint. The included hardware makes installation a snap, and the crossovers are somewhat small and easy to conceal. All in all, I have to say that if you don't have six or seven hundred to drop on your door speakers, these have no ability to disappoint. After reading the reviews here on the Polks db6501's it appeared they would be just what I was looking for. I made the purchase along with a bunch of other goodies including a Kenwood KVT-614 DVD Receiver. The Polk's were to replace my factory Infinity 6 1/2's. I installed the KVT-614 a week prior to attempting to switch out the speakers. I did it this way on purpose just so I would get a better taste per the speaker sound difference in a comparison. The Infinity's were just a 6 1/2 only speaker being driven off a very small factory amp which delivers only 7-8 watts per each speaker. And as you know the Polk db 6501 package is a complete component setup. I only replaced 1 rear door speaker and set fader to put everything to the rear speakers. I have to admit it was at this point I was disappointed. The Polks did not play as loud at low and mid-range volume. However they did out perform the Factory Infinity at the high end level. I then realized if I wanted to be serious about the sound I was after with the Polk's I would need to by-pass the factory speaker wiring and add a larger amp. I did just that with the amp being a 50 watts per channel alpine. And boyz let me tell ya, the Polks performance now was simply AWESOME! The Polk's come with plenty of replacement speaker wire. Use it, and add a little juice (power) and you'll be blown away as I was!

Why Crutchfield has not placed these in their Signature Series, I have no idea. I bought these to replace the pair of Kenwood KFC-P708 that had blown after only 4 months, expecting them to be equivalent due to similar price tags. I was so wrong. Driven by an Alpine PDX 4.100 amplifier, these speakers produced so much bass, I could no longer discern my JL Audio 10W3v3 subwoofer (driven from an Alpine PDX 1.600) from these. To top it off, they hit clean and tight from the very first thump. Once I installed sound deadener in the doors to rid of new-found rattles, these speakers nearly brought a tear to my eye. Already in love with my Polk Audio Home Theater System, I am now a Polk Car Audio enthusiast for life. These speakers are the reason I am replacing my JL Audio 10W3v3 with a Polk SR104-DVC subwoofer.

I recently purchased these to upgrade my Chevy Colorado's terrible stock system. My plan was to pair these (front) and a pair of db 651 coaxials (back) with a Kenwood Excelon KDC- X794.My plan was to use deck power only and eventually add a sub. Well let me tell you, these things are so awesome I am no longer in such a rush to add the sub. No kidding, and remember I'm only using deck power. What I first noticed upon installing these speakers was incredibly smooth sound. Very silky highs, great definition and superb balance up and down the spectrum. Flat eq was tremendous, but when I engaged the bass boost in the Kenwood I heard more low end than I ever expected out of any 6.5" speaker driven with such relatively little power. I run the db crossovers at neutral tweeter level, added just a little high end in the head unit and bingo: sonic nirvana.I will still move forward with my sub plans, but fear not: these speakers, with a good head unit, are just fantasitc and at a price that cannot be beat. I found myself driving around today just so I could enjoy the sound quality.

After reviewing several competing speakers (Boston Acoustic, Infinity, etc) I decided to go with the Polks. I have them hooked up to a JVC amp that was part of a special here on Crutchfield, giving each side 100w RMS. These speakers love the power! I wouldn't recommend installing these to be powered only by your aftermarket headunit, but as long as you have a good 100w RMS or more they will reward you with excellent sound! The tweeters produce clear but not too bright highs, and the mids put out decent bass as can be expected from the 6.5" size. I'll be adding a 10" sub to fill in the missing lower bass, but for now I can finally enjoy great sounding music in my Corvette! Thanks goes to Crutchfield for being the best site to order car audio, bar none!

These are the best speakers I have ever owned. They replaced my factory speakers and added tons of clarity to my music without losing bass. They aren't as good as having a sub but, I wanted to add a good system to my civic without losing space. So, having subs just wasn't an option i wanted to go. I tried several other speakers before settling on these. Everything else sounded good but lost a lot of bass compared to factory. These were a perfect balance. I paired these with an alpine CDA-9886 head unit and the alpine KTP-445 power pack. I used scosche speaker adaptor brackets instead of the ones supplied. The Civic had tons of room at the opposite end of the door behind the panel to mount the crossover. The tweeters will not fit in factory locations in a 06+ civic. The tweeters are much larger than factory and wont even fit in the hole in the dash without cutting plastic and doing some modification to the old tweeter grill. I didn't want to risk cracking the dash or cutting supporting plastic that might make it crack or warp later so i mounted the tweeter on the door. These tweeters are awesome even at the -3db setting they were extremely bright.

Replaced Infinity reference components in 2005 Camry, what an improvement. The infinitys are ok, but there's something to be said for a silk dome that Polk has that Infinity does not. This is my third set (bought Polk before for wife's Mazda Tribute) and by far for the money these are leaps above the factory speakers and the Infinity reference series. As for the setup, I have them running off of 4 channel 50 rms Rockford fosgate amp with an Alpine MRP-450 running my MTX dual 12s (paralleled) in a sealed enclosure. Combined this creates a rich sound without the holes that many other systems have on the road. I like to hear the mid range tones and natural highs with comparable bass to make every song sound as it should, regardless if it's rock, rap, or top 40. Also, Crutchfield provided everything to make the install very easy.

I bought these for my 2005 S2000 despite crutchfield's claim that it will not fit, I was able to make it fit by simply using the included plastic spacer. Check some of the online forums for installation tips. A trip to the hardware store is necessary for several mounting screws since the OEM speaker mounting screws will not fit. When I was comparing the OEM honda with these speakers, I did not think that it was going to sound that much better because the size and weight of the magnet/speaker was only slightly larger/heavier than oem. When I powered it up though, the sound was 10 times better that stock. I am only using a pioneer DEH-P5000UB head unit and I like the bass it produces even if I turn it up. Unfortunately, I have a convertible so the interior cabin is noisy on the freeway even with the top up so there a bit of distortion if I turn it up really high. An amp would probably do these speakers justice.

These fit in the rear deck on the 330Ci if the original speaker mounts are used to hold them in. The sound is fantastic and when complemented with the 5.25s in the front, sound incredible. The 6501s give a slightly better response than the 5.25" on the lower end but that's to be expected. It's a shame the door panels on the BMW won't accept these in the front doors. Imaging was accomplished easily by setting the tweeter gain on the crossover for the fronts as float and on the rear, -3 db. This gives very good results.

Sounds like a Concert!

In a 2001 VW GTI VR6: Huge increase of clarity and accuracy powered by a Infinity 475a amp than my stock monsoon speakers powered by the head unit. This my best purchase I made in my life. Pro: Clear, Clarity, and accuracy. Now I can really hear what my mp3s sound like. I might have to use cds because mp3 were only 128kbs to 320kbs quality. I can only turn it up so far, because my ear will hurt, but I can turn them really high but have to step out of the car though and jam out to the music. Cons: Do notice a hiss when nothing is being played. I don't know what would cause this. but disappears when i have my music is on. Putting them in my car was somewhat easy install had to fab my door tweeters and the back ones also. I used the brackets to install the woofers that came with the speakers. Won't to bad to install though. I would definitely reccommend this to anyone. You might want to install a sub, because i have a 15" kicker L7. Also these speakers are louder than the L7. Thats a big plus i was afraid that they wouldn't be loud enough, but they sound perfectly with the L7. I heard they need alot of power, but my amp is 75w rms x 4. So they are loud enough for me.

Best Possible Speakers

Written by: alexander from nj on April 6, 2009

2004 Honda accord coupe: Just put these bad boys in a few days ago and i will say they are absolutely phenomenal. These are the best speakers I have every had without a single doubt. Before putting in these components into the front of my car, i was running infinity kappa's 50.7cs off of an alpine MRP f300. The difference between the infinity and these is night and day, I was always all about infinity but have been instantly converted to polk audio. One word of caution: these speakers require a great deal of power. At max gain with my kenwood head unit all the way up i hear zero distortion but the speakers are still lacking power ( getting 50watt/channel) and my alpine amp is not enough for these. A good, powerful amp is an absolute must for these

I had Kenwood components in my Silverado. Did not like them. Replaced with JBL's coaxials, did not like them either! Decided to go with these Polk db6501's. BEST CHOICE I EVER MADE!! Absolutely PERFECT balance. Great highs as well as lows. Easy installation. You will not be dissapointed!!

Amazing speakers very happy!

I got these speakers to replace the front 6.5" Bose components and the 6.5" in the rear quarter panel in my 03 Infiniti G35. I had to costom mount the tweeter in the panel, but man am I glad I did. I have to say with the 2 sets of DB6501 6.5" on one set of 5.5" DB5251's to replace the 6x9 slot the SQL is amazing. I cant speak for the speakers by themselves, but the 3 sets of DB's pound just as heavy as my sub. I installed all at once before listing to the sound is why Im saying that. I want to make sure you understand you will need a subwoofer to make the complete sound stage but the bass it clean and responcive. I am using my Pieneer 4 channel 600 watt amp pushing 75watts RMS to the 6.5"and 60watts RMS to the 5.5" they can only be played just a little over half volume before its to loud to even sit in the car. Thats no exzageration. Let me add that there is not a single bit of distortion from these speakers AT ALL. That is my pet peave the people that listen to their speakers so loud they distort. Also dont spend this much money on a set of speakers and keep a stock head unit it makes no since. I have an Alpine 9874 HU it works make the SQL so much better. So all in all I give this series a 5 star rating amazing highs very strong mids. If you deside to buy these you will not be disapointed.

Great set of components

Written by: Anthony from Atlanta, GA on November 18, 2008

I've had these speakers for a couple years now. I got them for a Nissan single cab pickup. I figured with the lack of space for speakers in this truck, the components would allow a little more bass than 3 or 2 ways. I was right!! Hooked up to a 2-channel Alpine amp, these speakers sound awesome in such a small cab!!! You can get amazing highs from the tweeters and great lows from the woofers. Highly recommended set!! Of course Crutchfield is the best also. I've been buying from them for years and always get top-notch service. Thanks!!

Great Replacement Speakers in 00 Discovery

These speakers sound amazing, especially when compared to the factory speakers in my truck. The T-harnesses that were supplied made installation very easy as well. I would highly reccommend these speakers to anyone who wants to achieve fantastic sound out of their vehicle on just a speaker change. I've not managed to change the head unit yet but there is a night and day difference from these speakers to stock. I took the easy way out and just used factory wiring and factory crossovers. I'll replace the wiring and crossovers when I add an amp and replace the head unit. As a side note, these will fit in the rear doors with no major modification (had to drill holes in the door panel to mount speaker) Installation went very smooth.

Great Sound for the Budget Conscious

Written by: Douglas from Bloomington, IL on August 29, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The bass response is tight without being muddy. The tweeters are bright, but not piercing or scratchy, and are easily dialed down with the crossover switch (-3db, 0dB, or +3dB). I have them loaded in the front of my 93' Camry sedan, and I'm happy with the purchase. Even without an amp or an impressive deck, I'm pleased with the clarity of the sound reproduction, and likewise I am not disappointed with the accuracy of the bass at higher volumes. For the budget conscious, these are a perfect addition to a starting a modest, reference system. db6501s will not reproduce the boom or thump one would expect from a sub, but the 6.5" woofers adequately punch lower frequencies (~150hz to 200hz), accentuating the beats of hip-hop, electronic, and rock. The woofers also add a rich organic/ analogue depth to more stripped down acoustic sessions. However, these woofers are midrange speakers, and are not meant to replace or occupy the sound-space of subs (<=200hz). As I've stated, if you are budget conscious, and/or leery of starting off with a bulky, bass/amp package, these are a modest addition. However, I do recommend eventually complimenting these speakers with a tight 12" sub to round out the over bottom sound.

Fantastic Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these to replace a nice pair of aftermarket full range speakers that just didn't sound right. My advisor recommended these over the Polk MOMOs because I was driving them with my head unit and the db's have higher sensitivity rating (thanks Ziggy). The mid/bass speakers were a straight swap in the doors, and the tweeters replaced factory tweeters. The tweeter opening in the door needed to be enlarged slightly with a dremel tool which was easy. I located the cross over units at the top of each kick panel to have access to the treble switches. The install took a little longer then I thought because of the cross overs, but wasn't bad. Once installed, I set my sound levels, adjusted the Blaupunkt Thb200A sub, and went for a test drive. By the half mile mark, I had a *huge* grin on my face, and I'm thinking "...ok, now that's more like it". There was an enormous improvement in sound quality. The speakers are so clear and transparent, and the imaging is amazing. My HU is a Pioneer 50Wx4 and it handles the db's well with volume settings maybe 15% higher than before. I love these. Negatives? I can now tell that some of my CDs are not as well produced as others, and I want to stay in the car even after I get home.

Decent speakers for the $$

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pros: These speakers sound pretty good, especially if you are upgrading from a factory setup. They offer a decent amount of mid-bass with surprising clarity and complement my 10" Kicker Solobaric well, which says a lot since Solobarics tend to be more on the low end of the frequency range. Don't buy these expecting to get a ton of bass by themselves though (which is usually the case with separates anyway). The highs are quite clear and give a nice "edge" to styles like techno and hip hop, but are not as well suited for rock, metal, etc (distortion guitar doesn't sound as good as other speakers I've heard). Cons: There is one flaw in these speakers, and unfortunately it is one big enough to knock the rating down to 3 stars. I've owned these for 2 months now, and no matter how much I try, I can't get rid of a certain frequency from the tweeters that seems to pierce your ears. For example, in some songs, whenever the singer sings a word with an "S" in it, the "sss" rings considerably louder than anything else. The speakers tend to hit that frequency where it hurts just right. I've owned many car speakers and I've never had any with a harsh frequency like that. If you buy these, I would recommend a head unit with some sort of EQ or high frequency control. On the Alpine CD-9884 you can change the center of the high frequency, which helps a lot, but doesn't quite solve the problem completely. Besides that though, they do sound good the majority of the time.

I currently have the speakers powered by the amp in my Kenwood head unit and I can't say I'm as impressed with the sound I am getting... YET. The mid and high frequencies are very good, but I am really lacking any kind of decent bass at all. I plan on solving that soon with the Sony XM-4S amp. (The only small 4 channel amp I can find) I have high hopes that putting a bit of wattage behind the speakers will help resolve my low frequency problem.
