Enjoy thunderous bass on your next movie night

Looking for bass you can hear and feel? The Polk DSW PRO 600 fills your room with deep, solid lows, thanks to a 12" woofer and potent 250-watt amplifier. This advanced subwoofer features Polk's exclusive Feed Forward™ technology, which reduces audible distortion without limiting volume. You get quick, precise response throughout the sub's entire frequency range, even at ground-shaking volume levels.

Built-in room position equalizer for smooth bass

The PRO 600 also includes the Polk Room Optimizer™, an ingenious feature that lets you specify the location of your sub with one of four options — corner, mid-wall, in-cabinet, or mid-room. The Optimizer then automatically equalizes the sub's response to ensure smooth, clean bass from that position. You can easily access this function, as well as the volume control and phase switch, with the included remote. Removable feet let you position the PRO 600 for either front-firing or down-firing operation, whichever you prefer.

Why add a powered subwoofer?

A powered subwoofer gives you bass you can feel as well as hear. Our customers love the depth and impact their subs add to music and movies. We hear comments like "it brings out sounds I didn't know existed in discs I've watched a million times." Powered subwoofers aren't just for big bass that rattles your picture frames; they can also deliver tight, accurate lows. If you haven't shopped for a powered sub in a while, you might be surprised at how small they get. Look for an ultra-compact model if you want to tuck your sub away under an end table or in a corner.

These Subs are outstanding

Written By Bob, California on Tuesday, July 13, 2010

These are by far the best subwoofers I have ever own or used and I have owned quite a few. I bought 2 of them from Crutchfield. I really like Crutchfield's service and their great support. By the way, these Polk subwoofers work superbly on "Auto". There is No "lag time" at all. On "Auto", as soon as a bass frequency "hits" the subs they turn on and STAY ON. If there are No bass frequencies for 15 minutes then they silently turn off (standby). Believe me, these Polk subs put out the DEEP BASS. They are very clean and very dynamic sounding. I am really happy that I bought them. I have had them now for about 3 months and it was one of the best "buys" that I have ever made.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Want to thank Crutchfield for doing what they do best "Customer Service" and Polk Audio for having such great products. I unpacked this beast from it's box, it was a lot bigger than what I thought, and very heavy. I have a 23' x 25' room, at first I didn't think this sub would make that much difference to my system. But, I was surprize after hooking it up and popping in the DVD "Transformers". I could not believe how much difference this was making in the low end. I would mute it then turn it back on, all I can say is "WOW"! The only thing I can really say that I wish it had, is that it came in cherry. The black is nice, but I like the cherry on my other Polk Audio speakers. You will have to move it around to find the sweet spot for your room. Once you find that spot, watching tv is nothing like you heard before. If you want a great sub at a great price, this is the one.

Stout offering from Polk Audio

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Here I am reporting in after almost 2 months of ownership. Dedicated media room about 12x20 and this unit can be felt throughout the house. Do not underestimate this sub! It does have a slight lag when the power is set to auto to detect input sgnal, but luckily no major solinoid click that I can detect. Definitely requires some effort to get placed optimally in your room, but is well worth the effort. If Polk once had a reputation for lesser powerful subs, I say this particular model disproves the naysayers! Only problem is light night watching requires me to enable "night" mode or else the Mrs. will miss out on her beauty sleep.

Great Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Packs quite a punch! My one complaint is the volume settings. There should be a better way of telling what the volume is other than counting the blinks of the blue light. The room optimizer does a fair job optimizing the sound for the room placement. Overall I am satisfied with the sub.

The sub performs quite well with my Polk LSI15/LSI7/CLSI system....The
remote control is a very handy feature....I have the subwoofer placed on a
side wall, I set the speaker to side wall, easy as that.....

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After years of having a 100 watts 8" and 100 RMS watts 10" sub. This sub make me hear every movie and TV programs much better. With the remote feature i could change the sound on every incoming source. When listen to 5.1 it shake my theater seats. It make scene more realistic. I finally found a sub-woofer to my satisfaction.

Very Accurate and Powerful

Written By Daniel, Chicago, IL on Thursday, February 21, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I added this to a pair of Polk RTi 8 speakers and am now completely satisified with my sound. It is tremendously powerful and has great frequency response.

I listen to all types of music from country to rap. My favorite artists are Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Kanye West, 2 Pac, etc. The sub EXCELS at reproducing even the lowest notes when listening to rap, and I am equally impressed with it's sound when reproducing the kick drum and punchiness of a rock band such as Buckcherry, Daughtry, or Creed. It is very accurate and sounded as if I was at a live soundstage at a smaller venue.

My only problem now is that I need a more powerful receiver to power my RTi 8's so they can keep up with the DSW 600! I currently have the DSW at about 60% on the volume control and am still experimenting between my receivers crossover for the sub at 100hz or 120hz. I also need to do some more experimenting with the phase control (4 positions on this as opposed to most subs that only have 0 or 180).

Product Research

Driver: The Polk Audio DSWPRO600 uses an 12" Dynamic Balance composite cone driver for deep, accurate response with low distortion. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer utilizes a rubber surround.

Klippel Optimized Woofer: By using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk is able to optimize the woofer's motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for the best possible performance even at extreme listening levels.

Class D Amplifier: The subwoofer is powered by a high-current Class D amplifier producing 250 watts RMS/500 watts dynamic power that supplies clean power for loud bass and a wide dynamic range necessary to recreate a life-like experience in your home. The efficiency of a Class D digital amplifier translates into high-power, and cool, reliable operation with low distortion.

Feed Forward Distortion Suppression Technology: This technology maximizes acoustic output as it reduces audible distortion. Feed Forward is a zero latency system that maximizes dynamic output of the subwoofer system without relying on slow responding feedback techniques. What you'll hear is quick, precise bass output with minimal audible distortion, even at loud volume levels.

Enclosure: The DSWPRO600 features a bass-reflex enclosure with non-resonant MDF construction and internal bracing for deep bass impact with superior detail and accuracy. The subwoofer's enclosure is finished in a sating black but can be painted to match your room decor.

Downward Radiating Slot Port: The DSWPRO600 features a downward radiating slot port which lessens turbulence, noise and distortion. The result is deep, clean and accurate bass.

Video Shielded: The DSWPRO600 is magnetically shielded for placement near video monitors. You should still allow at least 18" of space between your subwoofer and any tube television. LCD, DLP and Plasma TVs are not affected by magnetism.

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response for the subwoofer is 20-160Hz, and the -3 dB frequency response is 25-125Hz.

Repositionable Feet: The DSWPRO600 features repositionable rubber or spike feet which allow you to orient the subwoofer on its "back" to turn it into a front-firing woofer when you want to hide the subwoofer away in cabinets. There is an optional woofer grille (model # 107DSW600G, sold separately) available when the subwoofer is used in a front firing application.

Note: The remote control may not operate when the subwoofer is place in a cabinet with the driver facing into the room. If this occurs, adding an IR repeater will enable the remote control to communicate with the subwoofer.

IR Wireless Remote Control: The DSWPRO600 comes supplied with a credit card sized IR wireless remote control which operates the following subwoofer's controls - Volume, Mute, Phase, Night and Polk Room Optimizer. All commands are sent to the subwoofer via IR control. The IR receiver is located on the front of the subwoofer when the subwoofer is its downward firing configuration. There is a blue LED behind the woofer's logo badge which blinks to confirm the subwoofer has received and responded to the remote's instructions. The LED feature can be turned off.

Note: The subwoofers crossover setting must be set using the controls located on the rear panel of the woofer.

Polk Room Optimizer: The DSWPRO600's remote control incorporates the Polk Room Optimizer (PRO) feature. The Polk Room Optimizer feature allows you to place the subwoofer where you want it in your listening room. Based upon the four most common room placements for subwoofers, the Polk Room Optimizer maximizes sound quality for you, smoothing out the bass response that a particular room placement creates. There are four push-button room equalization presets on the remote that correct for room boundary effects for typical room placements: "corner," "short wall," "long wall" and "mid-room."  The result is great bass performance no matter where you place your DSWPRO600 subwoofer.

Night Mode: Night Mode compresses the dynamic range of the woofer's output, so you hear low-level bass detail at lower volumes.

Volume Control: The DSWPRO600 has a push button volume control to adjust the volume of the subwoofer relative to the other speakers in the system. The volume is adjustable from 0 to 40.

Phase Switch: The subwoofer's IR wireless remote features a phase control which allows you to select 0-degrees (normal), 90-degrees, 180-degrees (reverse) or 270-degrees. This control enable the subwoofer to blend more seamlessly with your main speakers. If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, using the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass "attack."

Low-Pass Filter: The DSWPRO600 offers a continuously variable low-pass filter, adjustable from 60-160 Hz.

3-Way Power Switch: The subwoofer has a 3-way power switch on the rear panel. You can select "Auto", which turns the unit on automatically when an input signal is received and off 15 minutes after the signal stops; "On", which keeps the unit on and "Standby", which turns the unit off. The LED power indicator glows green when the unit is on, red when the unit is off and yellow during standby mode.

LFE (Unfiltered) Input: The DSWPRO600 has a gold-plated mono RCA LFE (Low Frequency Effects) input. This input should be used when connecting to a receiver with a filtered subwoofer output, such as those found on most home theater receivers (check the receiver's owner's manual). The LFE input bypasses the subwoofer's built-in low pass crossover.

Note: If the receiver's subwoofer output is unfiltered, you should use either the left or right Line Input of the subwoofer.

Line (Filtered) Inputs/Outputs: The subwoofer has gold plated left and right RCA Line Level inputs. The inputs are for use with electronics featuring unfiltered "Pre Out" jacks (Example: a separate pre-amp processor with a separate amplifier). It may require "Y adapters" to connect the left and right outputs of the pre-amp processor to both the subwoofer and the power amplifier. The line outputs allow you to send a filtered signal to a power amplifier to drive bookshelf speakers.

Speaker Level Input/Output: The subwoofer has 5-way binding post connections for front speaker level input and output. The subwoofer's low-pass filter takes the low frequencies (based on the setting of the filter) and sends it to the subwoofer. The speaker level outputs send a filtered signal to your connected speakers.
