Poly Cone: The DXi series subs use a durable polymer composite cone. The cone is both lightweight and rigid, and will withstand the harsh automobile environment.

Butyl Rubber Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant to extremes in temperature, humidity, and exposure to sunlight for excellent long term reliability.

Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized: For a driver to reproduce complex sounds accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and manner in both directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Break-In Period: Subwoofers will achieve optimal performance once they are thoroughly broken-in. To break in a new DXi sub play music through it for 20 to 30 hours at moderate levels.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box Volume: Polk recommends mounting this woofer in a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 0.66 cubic feet.

Ported Box Volume: Polk recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 1.25 cubic feet using a 4" diameter x 12" long port.

Bandpass Box Volume: Polk recommends a bandpass enclosure with a 0.80 cubic foot sealed rear chamber and a 0.85 cubic foot ported front chamber with 4" diameter x 9" long port.

I am purchasing 2 of these to replace old 10s and the box is .96 cu ft per chamber. Will these subs still sound good or do I need to replace/ rebuild the box?

It'll still sound great! I have mine in an old Rockford fosgate box with a kenwood 1100 watt amp bridged & it pounds like mad

They should work well, if the screw holes still provide a nice sealed, tight install. If not, turn the sub so that you can make new screw holes in between the old ones, and fill the previous holes. For a nice tight seal. If you have a good seal you should be able to push the sub in, (in a sealed box) and it should take a few seconds to rise, not instantly snap back.

I recently purchased 2 Polk audio dxi 10s and I was wondering which box I should that will make the bass really slam, a sound ordnance sealed box or a ported box. They will be connected to a 1000 watt lanzar 2 channel class d.There going in a 2000 saturn sl1?

I would guess it depends on what type of music you listen to. I purchased 2 of these subs and received a free sealed sound ordinance box with them. I have them hooked up to a 500w class d alpine mono amp bridged and am extremely satisfied with the tight bass. I couldn't choose which box since it was free but I listen to all types rock plus some rap. Obviously you are pushing much more through these than me in my '01 Cavalier but I think you could go either way. Look up in Crutchfield what the difference is between the 2 but I think you get a tighter punch through the sealed.

I used this speaker in a large metal locomotive model. I used a ported box. It works very well, and I've had many complements from the system.

I'm currently using them in a freeair install and they sound awesome...... Very good subwoofer for the money highly recommend them .... They hit hard n tight at 50Hz

Hey Ray. I bought a Sound Ordnance BB102-75S Double 10" Sealed Box .76 cu.ft. because I prefer slightly less but tighter more well defined bass. If you simply want the most bass get a ported box.

Don't use the lanzar amp it will not sound god at all. You should buy a sound ordinance m-1500 amp. That amp sounds so good hooked up to these subs and slam nice. Now this amp will tweak down to 2ohm load by it self so you just need to hook the subs in the box positive red and negative black. And the amp does the rest so no crossing wires in the box. It has been a great setup so far. I used a sealed box but depending on what you listen to you would go either way. I think it hits deeper notes ported and higher notes sealed. So if your looking for the mirror to come off get a ported box. Good luck.
