Go ahead, circle the parking lot till your favorite song is over. Polk Audio's DXi Series subs will make you want to hit "repeat" so you can hear it all over again. Polk uses a high-tech approach and ideal materials to create subs that will add serious impact to your tunes.
Exacting standards — precise engineering where it counts
The DXi 1240DVC 12" sub features a stiff polymer composite cone and sturdy large roll butyl rubber surround, so you can ride the bass wave for years to come. Engineers at Polk analyze drivers in motion to ensure that cone movement is even and precise, so you'll get impressive thump with minimal distortion. Polk also uses laser imaging to craft woofer cones that are perfectly balanced to resist distortion-causing resonances.
The dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to wire your system to draw maximum power from your mono amp or to hook up multiple subs safely. Pair this sub with the right amp and enclosure, then strap yourself in for a serious low-frequency ride.

Features
Dual 4Ω Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.
Polypropylene Cone: The DXi series subs use a durable polypropylene cone. The cone is both lightweight and rigid, and will withstand the harsh automobile environment.
Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.
Klippel Optimized: For a driver to reproduce complex sounds accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and manner in both directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.
Break-In Period: Subwoofers will achieve optimal performance once they are thoroughly broken-in. To break in a new DXi sub play music through it for 20 to 30 hours at moderate levels.
Enclosure Compatibility

Bandpass Box Volume: Polk recommends a bandpass enclosure with a 1.0 cubic foot sealed rear chamber and a 1.15 cubic foot ported front chamber with 4" diameter x 12" long port.

Replaced a JBL sub with comparable RMS @ 4 ohms. All else equal, this subwoofer provides a cleaner bass and a punchier thump. Definitely recommend for the price, can't go wrong with Polk quality and sound.
