Good upgrade over stock

Upgrade to my 2012 Toyota Tundra dash speakers. Easy switch. Very happy and satisfied w/ results. Glad I did it.

Pros: Clear sound and slightly louder.

Cons: Minor mods (trimming) needed to fit, but worth it.

Sound great in the factory dash locations. Add appreciable highs and image nicely. Very smooth.

Pros: Nice highs and upper mids. Provided with bass blockers.

Cons: No wiring provided.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great little speaker. Much clearer and more defined sound over stock dash speakers in my 2013 Dodge ram1500 quad cab.

I was confused by the accessories included with the speakers. (Large capacitors maybe?) needed soldering somehow? Regardless i hooked these guys into the system directly. (not having a soldering iron or many tools as i have just moved here.)

I would suggest using some bass blockers with these speakers. It appears the dash speaker signal is not run through a crossover in this vehicle. and while they handle full range signal, they arent made for bass. and i think it would be better just to remove the excess work from them. I will be adding bass blockers when i go ahead and get a soldering iron.

Pros: Beautiful Polk quality high and mid range speaker. Clear well defined reproduction of audio.

Cons: Require soldering iron to use included parts.

I installed these in my 2006 Dodge Durango to replace the stock dash speakers. My truck has the stock Alpine stereo system without navigation. These speakers made a big improvement on the sound of the stereo.

Pros: Crisp highs. Big improvement over stock speakers. Cant go wrong at this price.

Cons: Maybe a little too crisp at first. Nothing an EQ wont solve.

3 1/2 inch Polk installed in a BMW Z3

Written By Anonymous, Fremont California on Wednesday, December 04, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Clear bright and easy to install. The BMW Z3 is a challenge to improve the sound quality. This small speaker with small cut out and minimal depth made for an eash install below the seat belt harness reels. Certainly there is minimal base but.these are primarily used to fill mid range and voice. The do/the job very wel, allowing reasonable listening with the top down at freeway speeds. I definitely recommended these for the little Z, sometimes you want to listen to more than just the motor and wind.

Pros: Easy fitment

Cons: Minimal base.

Very easy replacement for dash speakers on '87 Chevy K5 Blazer. Once order was placed online, I received a link to the installation instructions. Received speakers the next day. Box contained speakers, adapters, bass blockers, and wiring harness adapters. Installation was easy. We installed the Bass Blockers (easy to wire) and the sound is great!!! Highly recommend.

Pros: Installation instructions were vehicle specific.

Installed the Polk Audio DXi 350's in my 2007 FJ Cruiser's rear D Colums, gives great sound for the dollar. Remove factory bracket, use two 1" self tapping screws with two 1/2" rubber stoppers behind speaker to raise up. Fits behind factory grill after trimming the plastic shield with razor. 15min per speaker. MM691's in front doors and DXi 1001's in dash. Kenwood Nav Head unit and Polk Audio PA D4000.4 amp. Worth every penny!

Pros: Great bang for the buck.

Great, smooth sounding speakers. The tweeters could stand to be a little louder, but nothing an eq adjustment can't fix. Excellent speakers, especially for the price at Crutchfield.

Pros: Great sounding. Very smooth sound, especially for being in the dash aimed right at the windshield.

Cons: The tweeter could stand to be a little louder.

Just what I was looking for!

Written By David S, N. Texas on Sunday, September 29, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a way to get a little more sound quality out of the sound system in my 2008 MX-5 Miata. My setup consists of: Pioneer X930BT Head Unit, Rockford Fosgate Punch PBR300X2 amplifier under the drivers seat, stock door and rear speakers and a Sound Ordnance B-8PTD under the passenger seat. I've been pretty happy with the sound from the factory door speakers, but the rear speakers contributed very little to the over all sound of my system.

The goal was to add a little more volume and perhaps a crisper tweeter sounds. Based on a recommendation, I ordered a pair of the Polk Audio DXi350 these from Crutchfield. I already knew some modifications were in order to make these fit my car. The Crutchfield web sight indicates these speakers "does not fit". It's because the frames of the new speakers are slightly bigger and will -not- drop into the holes in the metal mounting bracket. In order to make them fit, I had to remove some metal...making the holes about 1/4" wider overall. I used a Dremel cut off wheel and a little patience to do this part. I smoothed things out with a Dremel grinding wheel and the wire brush on the bench grinder.

Once they were in place and all wired up, I feel they achieved my goal of rounding out the sound of my system.

PS: Members of the forum can read my in-depth installation review (with pictures) here.

Pros: Big Magnets, Quality Construction, Separate Tweeter

Cons: None that I saw.

very happy!

These speakers make a HUGE difference in my 2010 Ram 1500 (stock stereo - upgraded head unit). It took about 15 min to install the pair but I couldn't get out of the truck for over an hour afterwards because I had to listen to them. The improvement over the factory speakers is really impressive, I'll be installing another set in my wife's jeep this weekend!

Pros: Greatly improved sound, perfect fit, great value for the money. Crutchfield included wiring adapter made the install really simple.

Cons: None that I can find.

Im really impressed with these speakers. I have them installed in my 2007 Altima. Right now im driving them with my head unit and they are really loud for their size. I bought these after a crutchfield tech recommended them to me. I recommend them for anyone looking to upgrade their factory speakers!

Pros: Great sound, quality material at an affordable price!

Cons: May require some custom fabrication depending on your vehicle mounting location. Also the tweeter needs alot of depth to fit behind the factory grill. I had to do use my dremel to make them fit, but they are well worth it.

Replaced the tweeters in the dash of my son's 1995 Volvo 850. These dropped right in, and sound great. Huge improvement. Great voice coil / magnet structure gets those little cones pumping more mid / low that a speaker this size should be expected to.

Pros: Polks. 'nuff said. Solid construction, great low mass / hi rigidity cones.

Cons: none.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these with reward points for free. I added these to dash of 2008 Dodge Ram WITHOUT Infinity system. Crutchfield says they don't fit, but that is incorrect. The brackets are already there and these fit nicely, you just then need to run your own speaker wire. (Recommend wiring in series.) These add a nice up-front presence to the music from the low door mounted speakers in front. A previous reviewer complained about a lack of bass, but, Duh, these are 3 1/2 inch, basically a mid-range and tweeter, without the woofer. Polk even supplies capacitors to use as bass blockers to filter out anything from 200 hz down.

Pros: Add a nice up front presence to music over just having the door mounted speakers

Cons: none so far.

I put these in the dash of a '72 Cadillac convertible, the only speakers in this car. They give plenty of sound at a decent quality. By decent, meaning as good as it gets without other speakers to provide bass, etc. They are some serious bang for the buck.

Cons: The instructions may be hard to follow for someone who has never done car audio before.

Great upgrade in 2011+ Sonata

Written By Greenbean, Phoenix, AZ on Sunday, June 16, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used these to replace the anemic stock "mid-level" dash speakers in my 2011 Sonata. It states that these do not fit. But if you re-drill some holes in the speaker mounting tabs and cut a 1/4" off of them, it can be done with no other cutting/interference to the vehicle. The magnet may rub on a piece of sheet metal under the dash but a couple of layers of electrical tape should avoid any rattles. The 92db level makes up for the 4ohm vs. 2ohm on the stock. In my application the supplied base blocker were not needed, but the wire adaptors were great. I ordered these late on a Monday, the free shipping had them here by Friday and I was smiling by 9:00am Saturday! The sound quality vastly superior to the stock units and the imaging is now how and where it should be. For $30 you can't go wrong with these!

Pros: Excellent for a true mid-tweet application.

Cons: Large magnet for my application.

These speakers are clear and that's about all I can say for them. They are completely overpowered by the Polks I installed in the rear and with the bass blockers installed, they are basically little tweeters. I had no choice since the car ( a '59 Thunderbird) didn't have room for anything bigger.

Pros: small size, clear sound

Cons: No mid range at all.

Fantastic replacement for stock dash speakers

Written By Ragtop, SF Bay Area on Monday, May 13, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

WOW!! What a fantastic deal on a fantastic speaker - and with Crutchfield's install guide and speaker adapter wires it was much easier than I thought. I have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring Convertible with the "upgraded" (HA-HA) infinity sound system. I replaced the door/rear speakers within one week of getting the car back in 2006, but, I had convinced myself that the dash speakers sounded fine - truth was I was not anxious to pull the windshield top-trim, A-Pillar trim and dash front-trim just to get to the factory speakers. But, after I installed my new head-end from Crutchfield I decided it was time to take the plunge. With the Crutchfield guide, and some careful work (and a little help/advice from my neighbor) I got the factory speakers out (the foam surrounds were totally rotted out) and got the new speakers in and working. They sound GREAT! All kinds of mids-highs I was not getting before. I highly recommend these speakers!

Pros: Unbelievably LOW price and great sound.

Cons: None

While these units are listed as a "does not fit" for my vehicle in speaking to the technical representative at Crutchfield it was revealed the dimension that was the concern was the height. It was only 0.1 inches too high. Since the in dash speakers are housed with a plastic grill cover I decided to see if I could fit the DXi350s with a minor modification to the back side of the plastic grill. As it turns out the grill is flexible enough to allow the DXi350 to fit with out modification. There is a very slight bow to the grill but not really noticble. If this is not acceptable one could easily modify the back of the grill with a Dremelor or similar tool to allow for the required clearance. The DXi350s make a very noticable differnce to the frequency responce compared to the stock BA Premium speakers that were replaced. The OEM speakers do not have a true tweater . They are just a 31/2 inch full range cones. I have owned Polk Momos in the past and been impressed with the Polk natural sounding speakers for automotive use. They have none of the sizzle and boom that other units seem to be designed to deliver. The Polks are more like high fidelity designed for automotive use. These units exhibit the same characteristics. Crutchfield is offering these at a great price presently.

Pros: Smooth extended high frequency characteriistic of Polk silk dome tweeters. Comes with free adapater to harness to allow easy "plug and play' installation.

Cons: None at this time.

Great Purchase!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used these to replace my stock Toyota FJ Cruiser dash and d pillar 2 1/2 stock speakers. The sound quality is a world of difference, much clearer, louder, and really completes the experience with the Polk sub-woofer and 6 1/2 Polk speakers I added to my truck as well.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speaker was used as a replacement for a center channel in my car. Much higher quality than the paper one it replaced, Which would split on the seam causing an very annoying flutter. I have always found the instructions , faceplates, adapters and speaker connectors very convienent over tha years as a customer.

Pros: Polk quality

Cons: Have not found any yet

Polk Audio DXi350 dash speakers for 2012 Ram Truck

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Extreme clarity and need minimum power, very efficient speakers. I replaced them first and these 3-1/2" dash speakers sound better than the factory 6x9 door speakers! Crutchfields instructions were a great help for how to do the replacement. Very good model specific instructions. And the wire adapters they threw in the package made it easy!

Pros: Clear, efficient

Cons: none

Good quality Polk with small size fitment

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Compact speakers make big Polk sound. They were somewhat impressive for only a 3.5" speaker, you really can't ask for much more from a speaker so small. I'm pretty impressed with their clarity for being a middle of the road replacement in the O.E. location in my Dodge Ram.

Pros: Very affordable, no fuss easy install in a Ram 1500

Cons: No faults here

Good little speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not bad, not much midrange as they are small speakers, but the highs are fairly smooth and they come with bass blockers which is nice, well constructed, some of the better sounding 3.5" ive played with

Pros: Smooth highs, comes with bass blockers

Cons: The tweater protruds past the mounting surface, if your mounting them to a grill to drop in your gonna have a problem, youve got at least 3/8 inch you have to make up on the mounting surface. Midrange is a bit lacking, but to be expected from small speakers

It takes a little while to break in, but once they do break in, they sound amazing. They and another set of polks in the rear made my car sound like the front row seat at a live concert.

Pros: Great sound

Cons: None

A 100% improvement over factory Kicker 2 way Dash Speakers!! The lows are just incredible as well as both mid and high range, which to me are superb. I would DEFINITELY recommend these speakers to anyone that wants to have the audio in their car or truck rivalrying that of a home audio system!

Fantastic Sound

In my PT Cruiser these fit very well. The sound coming from them balances the other Polk speakers I have installed from Crutchfield. Great job to all of the reps that helped me put my system in place.

Sounds Great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound great, especially for a 3.5 inch size. The mids and highs are superb and stand up to my expectations. Also very easy to install in my 1983 300D. They just popped into the old speaker's slot.
