Go ahead, circle the parking lot till your favorite song is over. Polk Audio's DXi Series speakers will make you want to hit "repeat" so you can hear it all over again. Polk uses a high-tech approach and ideal materials to give your tunes an exciting new edge.

Precision woofers showcase your music

The DXi461 speakers feature 4"x6" polymer composite cones that are lightweight and stiff, so they can create a big sound with minimal distortion. Polk analyzes their drivers in motion to ensure that cone movement is even and precise. Polk also uses laser imaging to craft woofer cones that are perfectly balanced to resist distortion-causing resonances.

I'm sure they are great speakers. Polk is known for that. But not really working out that great for me. I bought these for the pillars in my truck, and I'm disappointed. The base response isn't really that great. I've ended up having to adjust the fader on the head unit to about 70% to the front/door speakers. It's not like i listen to base heavy music. I'd replace them but the hassle of taking them out isn't worth it....yet.

Very good speakers for the money. Clarity is good and even bass response is decent for the size and placement (rear column in a Silverado.) Better than I was really expecting considering the budget system I was aiming for in a work truck.

Pros: Good sound. Clear Highs and Mids Decent Bass response

Cons: None

Sounds Great

great sounding little 4X6" speaker, used the XTC cups too for better sound

Pros: good quality and sound

Cons: plastic ring taped to front of speaker needs to be removed for behind panel install, otherwise it will vibrate and probably fall off over time.

Good little speakers

Very good replacement for stock speakers. They sound great with my stock head unit and go well with the 6.5" polk's that I put in my doors. Clean and crisp audio

Pros: Sound great with stock head unit.

Cons: None

I was surprised by the quality

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced my aging Bose factory speakers from my 1991 Cadillac Brougham D Elegance with these 4x6 speakers. They sound amazing. Polk Audio lives from speakers only, and it shows. The highs were clear, and the lows are booming

Pros: Price, fit, construction

Cons: I have no cons for these speakers, they are that good.

Speakers completed the enhancement provided by the front door replacement speakers (Polk Audio DXi651 s). Great value

Pros: Sound quality, Crutchfield's knowledgeable staff, free installation bits

Cons: Drilling holes but not much of a con - only mentioned due to the incredible ease of front speaker installation. I installed both front door and rear door speakers in right about an hour. Very easy overall.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I mounted these speakers in the rear pillar of a 2000 Silverado. The speakers have a very flat sound. I have them connected to a Clarion CZ302 and no amp, which could be the issue. They might sound better with more power. I put Sony XSGT1638F speakers in the doors and they sound much better than the Polk's.

Pros: - Easy install...needed to drill 4 holes to mount. - Crutchfield Support

Cons: - Flat sounding

Good speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in my 1996 Chevy Cavalier convertible doors. It fit the factory molded plastic housing but I had to cut out some of the webbing in the housing due to the location of the terminals and the capacitors. No big deal, still plenty of material left in the housing. Speakers sound good.

Pros: Nice speakers

Cons: Have to modify existing housing.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the front dash of a 95 Blazer, and couldn't be happier with the sound. Very smooth vocals, with none of the harshness or sibilance that I remember from my last set of speakers with metal tweeters from many years ago. They were too quiet running with factory wiring from my aftermarket head unit, but a small 50 watt per channel amp brought them to life. Very impressed with the mid bass from such small speakers.

Pros: Clear vocals, surprisingly good mid bass.

Cons: Needed an amplifier to really shine.

good Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced these speakers with Polk MMC460 these have been in my truck for over 10 years had to replace them because the plastic framing gave way due to closing of the door, the new speakers work very well and hit nicely with 45 watts amp. they provide a balance sound

Pros: good speaker, metal frame no complaints

Cons: no cons so far and lets keep it like this, Polk Audio is a very nice brand

Replacement was easy, didn't quite fit flush with original speaker covers (too thick on flange). Had to grind down mounting bracket for speakers to fit as best as they could.

Pros: Much better than stock!

Cons: Not plug and play but not too hard to modify

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had first ordered 4" round speakers for the rear doors, my mistake. They were quality but not very luod. The people at Crutchfield walked me though the return witch cost $10.00 (that's fair) and I ordered the Polk DX 461. Super happy. They rock. My 2004 pick up has the stock Bose deck and up graded Polk speakers, real happy!

Pros: Good clean sound that fills the cab nicely.

Cons: None

Not bad, needs an amp.

They sound moderately better than what was in there, I'm sure they really need an amp to bring the full sound out. Every Polk speaker I've had has been great, and always needed an amp...

1997 Chevrolet Blazer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I`ve been out of the Car Sound System building process since the early 90`s, and although I knew Polk Audio put out some quality products, I wasn`t expecting much from the 4x6`s I ordered to replace my factory dash speakers in my `97 Blazer. Boy was I wrong. The bass response from these little monsters are enough that I`m holding off replacement of the other 4 speakers until I get brakes replaced(which is just a LITTLE more important than the sound system). Definitely would recommend these for your 4x6 replacements.

Pros: Terrific bass response for a small speaker, not to mention mid-high level clarity.

Cons: My dash won`t accommodate 10`s!

Product Research

High Efficiency Design: The Polk Audio DXi Series speakers feature a high efficiency design; meaning better sound and more volume using less power.

Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized Components: For a driver to reproduce complex sounds accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and manner in both directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Composite Cones: Each speaker features a Dynamic Balance, Bi-Laminate composite, polypropylene cone woofer. These composite cones feature tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio, resulting in faster transients and finer detail.

Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the speaker uses rubber surrounds.

Aluminum Dome Tweeters: Each speaker features a 3/4" aluminum dome tweeter for clear, accurate highs.
