Woofers
High Efficiency Design: The Polk Audio DXi Series speakers
feature a high efficiency design; meaning better sound and more volume using
less power.
Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a
proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what
combination of speaker materials create the least resonance. Eliminating
resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.
Klippel Optimized Components: For a driver to reproduce
complex sounds accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and
manner in both directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a
laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in
motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment,
and suspension to yield the best possible performance.
Composite Cones: The Polk DXi 5250 system features Dynamic
Balance, polymer/mica composite cone woofers. These composite cones feature
tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients and finer
detail.
Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved
durability, the woofers use rubber surrounds.

Soft Dome Tweeters: The 1" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer
composite dome
tweeters provide clear, detailed highs.
Neodymium Magnets: Each tweeter employs a light-weight neodymium
magnet for better efficiency.
Mounting: The supplied mounting cups allow you to surface or
flush mount the tweeters. The tweeters swivel in the flush-mount housings, allowing
you to adjust them for optimum imaging.

Crossovers
Design: The outboard Butterworth crossovers are 2-way with a
4 kHz crossover point; both the high-pass and low-pass output slopes are 12
dB/octave.
Tweeter Level Switch: You can adjust the output of the
tweeter to match a level appropriate to your vehicle or your system. On the end
of crossover (opposite the terminals) the switch can be set to -3 dB, 0 dB, or
+3 dB.
Protection Circuit: Each crossover has a built-in electronic
circuit that protects the tweeter from accidental overdriving.
Crossover Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are
screw terminals. The terminals will accommodate the included wire or spade
connectors up to 0.35" wide.
Mounting: There are two mounting holes in the base of each
crossover; the cover must be removed to install the mounting screws.
Crossover Dimensions:
- Width: 3.085"
- Height: 1.070"
- Depth: 5.040"
Marine Rated
Marine Certified: Every DXi Series loudspeaker is designed
not only to withstand the demands of a car's sun-baked climate, but corrosive
marine environments too. That means subjecting them to ASTM (American Society
for Testing and materials) scrutiny to ensure they are suitable for the marine
environment. Each speaker endures a series of grueling accelerated weathering
tests to see if it can stand up to a harsh marine environment; including
hundreds of hours of salt fog, intense ultra violet light, and temperatures
ranging from minus 40° C (-40° F) to +85° C (+185° F):
- Extreme Temp Test: cycles from -40°F to 185°F at 50%
humidity for 48 hours
- Extreme Temp Test at High Humidity: cycles from -40°F
to 185°F at 95% humidity for 24 hours
- Extreme Humidity Test: 140°F at 95% humidity for 54
hours
- Salt-Fog Materials Test: based on military
specifications for ASTM D5894 and Mil-Std 883 tests; alternates one week of
UV and one week of salt fog exposure for six weeks (1008 hours total)
- UV/Salt-Fog Whole Speaker Test: based on military
standard Mil-Std 883 Method 1009 8 test; UV and salt fog exposure for 24
hours
