Precision woofers showcase your music

The DXi571 speakers feature 5"x7" polymer composite cones that are lightweight and stiff, so they can create a big sound with minimal distortion. Polk analyzes their drivers in motion to ensure that cone movement is even and precise. Polk also uses laser imaging to craft woofer cones that are perfectly balanced to resist distortion-causing resonances.

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Better than stock, but probably need more power

Written by: justin from Montana on January 13, 2016

1999 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these along with a JVC Arsenal KD-R775S in a 1999 Ford F150. The highs and mids are way better than stock. They are very crisp. I have mixed feelings on the bass though. It really depends on the genre and song (with my setup at least). They seemed to distort and get muddy on certain heavy metal songs when the kick drums are going. But they sound pretty good with longer, steady bass from trance/chillout music. I don't run an amp or anything though, so that is probably the main problem (not enough power to run them properly I'm guessing). I don't want to knock them for my simple install though (and I'm still playing with the EQ settings). I bet these would be great with the bass turned down and a sub or powered sub was installed to handle the low end.

Overall, I'm satisfied though. They installed with ease. The holes lined up perfectly and I just used the stock speaker screws. They do sound way better than stock for the most part. I guess I was just a bit too optimistic on the bass, but I'll admit it is probably because I don't have an amp to help these out (and you can't expect much bass out of a 6x8 anyhow). I didn't try the stock receiver against them, so no comment there. I think my next step will be a powered sub to help with the lows. You can pretty much deafen yourself with the highs/mids, so no worries there (and it stays crisp even cranked in that range).

Pros: - Easy install - no modifications needed in 1999 F150 - Highs/mids are super crisp and clear - way better than stock - you can hear every note/instrument - Bass probably equals stock or better with just a receiver and no power adders - I highly doubt I could ever blow these with just an aftermarket receiver

Cons: - probably could use an amp or a sub/powered sub to help with the lows - not a huge issue, but I couldn't get the speaker connectors to "snap" into place with the stock wiring harness. The plug was slightly too long (unless I'm doing something wrong, but it looked physically too long). I just bound them up with some electrical tape, so no big deal - still a lot better than splicing wires together.

05 mustang shaker 500 upgrade

2005 Ford Mustang
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good choice for a upgrade from stock speakers tried them first with aftermarket HU. Sound was ok then chose to add a amp Rockford 300 series 50 rms and they really came alive, very happy now. Put them in a 05 mustang with the shaker 500 really helps to have subs for that extra punch, would recommend.

Pros: Good choice for a upgrade from stock speakers, very easy install Crutchfield is a great place to shop for equipment, great service and very good price

Cons: None really, if your looking for that low end punch get a sub and a amp on these makes a huge difference

Replaced all 4 factory speakers and head unit in 2008 Ford Escape XLT. Installation was easy and straight forward. Speakers do a good job of handling all range of frequencies. My daughter was very pleased.

Sounds great and the customer service helped me match these with the head unit so that I would have enough drive since I was not using an external amp.

Pros: They sound good in the highs and lows with good bass.

Cons: Installing in the rear deck panel of Mustang was really a pain since the side panels had to come out also. Door panels were not too bad with help of u tube videos.

I could hear the fingering of the guitar strings before the riffs. I'm impressed with the initial quality. I've only just installed them, I'll write more after a few months.

Pros: Great Quality, Very easy installation with Crutchfield's instructions, and great foresight on providing the trim tool and speaker harnesses. I didn't put a single scratch on my interior. The harness was something I was about to overlook until chatting with the online assistant, who reminded me it would be easier than re-soldiering. Thanks Again Crutchfield

Replaced factory speakers with these in a matter of an hour. As soon as we replaced the head unit and powered the stereo up you could hear the difference. Clear crisp sound and just enough bass to makes them ideal fit for this truck. Only replaced door speakers because we are adding a subwoofer in the back.

These are great speakers with the proper equipment. I had the factory receiver and had to drive them pretty hard to get nice crisp sound out of them. Once you cranked them up they sound great. Not so good a low volume. They need a amp or higher power receiver.

Pros: Sound great when you turn the volume up

Cons: They are kind of power hungry. Need a good receiver or amp to drive them.

I installed these speakers is the extended Cab portion of my 1997 F-250. I was looking for a pair of speakers that could produce a quality sound that would overcome the rumble of my diesel truck and maintain consistency while the volume was turned up. These speakers met my expectations and I would recommend this product to any future purchasers looking to get quality sound at an affordable price.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed a pair of Polk DXi571s in the back-of-the-seat location of my 2002 Ford Thunderbird. Nice compliment to a newly installed Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS head unit. Installation was fairly straight forward and made much easier with Crutchfield's Ford wiring harness adapter. Huge improvement over the factory speakers. Excellent midrange and highs. Very acceptable bass tones, especially from a rear forward facing speaker system. Very efficient speakers, and a lot of bang for the buck.

Pros: Simple installation into existing factory speaker system mounts. Terrific performance of mid and high range tones, very respectable bass performance. Overall, an excellent replacement for factory stock speakers, without braking the bank.

Cons: Nothing I've seen.

Polk Audio DXi571 Speakers

Written by: CQLink from Detroit on July 23, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

"Muddy" is the best word to describe the sound of these speakers. Before and after installing an Alpine KTP-445U Head Unit Power Pack these speakers sounded bad. Very disappointed. I've used Polk in numerous home theater applications and once in a truck stereo install. The Polks didn't sound good in the truck and I'm not sure why I thought they would sound any better in my car. Pass up even with a price drop. You can find better speakers in the $40-$50 range.

Pros: None.

Cons: Terrible bass response. Speakers sound dull and muddy. The clips Polk provides to mount the speakers into existing places in your door are worthless. Had to modify to install.

These are some very good speakers. I replaced all 4 oem speakers in my ranger with these and I'm very pleased. The low bass is very respectable, but mid bass, like kick drums, sound awesome. I listen to rap all the way through to metal, and these shine on rock and metal. I think these will be very sufficient for rap once I put an amp on them. Absolutely no buyers remorse

Pros: Double bass for days

Replaced a pair of blown MTX speakers in my 94 F150. It's a tight fit for just about any speaker, but I used a few washers to angle the magnet a bit for a better fit. 2002 Lincoln Continental
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound great and are a significant improvement over factory installed. Installation instructions do not tell you the "gasket" is not to be used. The holes in the speakers DO NOT align with all 3 OEM installation holes. You will have to drill your own new one or two depending on your retention desire. For me, 2 lined up, 1 did not. I ended up using 4 holes to secure the speakers since I wanted to ensure there were no rattles.

Pros: Great Sound

Cons: Installation instructions insufficient.

2002 Ford Ranger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

At this price point ($75) this is an excellent product. Perfect as a modest upgrade for OE speakers. In my Ranger I added sound insulation in the doors to prevent rattles in door when windows were open but that's a truck issue and not a fault of the speakers. I am driving 4 of these with a Blaupunkt Adelaide 130 Media Player and I am very pleased. It could use a sub for more "thump" but I am not needing that myself. Some report this speaker as being too bright but both the kind of music I enjoy and my 60 year old ears are happy with what I have.

Pros: VERY good upgrade from factory equipment and a well made speaker. Polk makes good stuff.

Cons: Could use a sub so that cone could be limited to what it really does very well: midrange. If you need to be thumped in the chest by your tunes either look elsewhere or add a sub

I had heard that the speaker upgrade to the sound system was the easiest place to start. There was nothing wrong with my stock speakers, but I changed out all 4. The sound quality is AMAZING! I listen to most of my music through the IPOD or IPHONE, but even when it is the radio it sounds great. It took about 90 minutes to do all 4 speakers. Well worth the time and the money. The instructions were straight forward and easy. On my next used vehicle purchase, I will use Crutchfield and upgrade the sound system ASAP, the quality is far superior to stock.

Great Sound Mid Level Speaker

Written by: B from South Florida on August 31, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound for what I would consider a mid level speaker. Covers a wider range of sound than most speakers in the same price range. I bought 4 for all the doors and as of now have them hooked to a factory head unit and its already a noticeable step up. As soon as I get a new head unit I know they will be even more refined.

Pros: Price, wide range of sound. Easy to install in factory openings.

Cons: If you are looking for a high end speaker look at a different model but this is more than suitable for a mid level Or factory upgrade.

Very hard on the ears

Written by: msw1 from Glendale, Az on July 14, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these for a 1999 Ford Expedition. The fit was perfect front and rear. They have a decent amount of bass for their size. Unfortunately, the tweeters on these speakers are awful. My adviser did tell me they were bright, but that is not the appropriate description for these. They are extremely harsh and gave both my wife and myself headaches after listening to them. My ears physically hurt after just 10-15 minutes at a moderate volume. I strongly do not recommend these speakers unless you enjoy an extremely bright, irritating tweeter.

Pros: Perfect fit. Decent bass.

Cons: The harshest tweeters I have ever experienced.

Product Research

High Efficiency Design: The Polk Audio DXi Series speakers feature a high efficiency design; meaning better sound and more volume using less power.

Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized Components: For a driver to reproduce complex sounds accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and manner in both directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Composite Cones: Each speaker features a Dynamic Balance, Bi-Laminate composite, polypropylene cone woofer. These composite cones feature tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio, resulting in faster transients and finer detail.

Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the speaker uses rubber surrounds.

Aluminum Dome Tweeters: Each speaker features a 3/4" aluminum dome tweeter for clear, accurate highs.
