Precision woofers showcase your music
The DXi 650s speakers feature 6-1/2" polymer/mica composite cones that are lightweight and stiff, so they can create a big sound with minimal distortion. Polk analyzes their drivers in motion to ensure that cone movement is even and precise. Polk also uses laser imaging to craft woofer cones that are perfectly balanced to resist distortion-causing resonances. These speakers also fit in many 6-3/4" openings and, since the frame's less than 2" deep, you can install them in many space-challenged vehicles.

Silk/polymer dome tweeters broadcast sweet sound
Rest assured, you'll hear every detail of your most enthralling musical moments. Each 3/4" silk/polymer dome tweeter brings out the high-frequency highlights in your music, and a proprietary magnetic liquid cools each tweeter so you'll get clear sound and excellent long-term performance. From an intensely quiet acoustic pluck to the most exhilarating electric solo, it'll be a very entertaining ride.

2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice replacement for the oem rear speakers in my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Crew Cap. Installation was little harder than the front speakers since the adapter didn't work. The fit guide also calls for 4x6 speakers for my truck which is incorrect. You have to use the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche to get the correct ones and you have to do some modifications to these speakers to mount them. 6-3/4 would have worked better. The supplied wire connecter worked great. Much better than the original paper cone speakers.

Pros: Good quality and price. Pretty good sound.

Cons: Could be a litter better with the bass output.

I found these speakers on eBay for $200 for the full set. When I got them I found out on of the voice coils was bent a bit. Fixed it and have been pleased so far. I'm running them off a pioneer premier gm-x644 amp with the gain crainked and it makes my ears bleed! I have had people confirm hearing me from half a mile away. They are super clear even at ear shattering levels. As to tony who said to use the brackets for the Saturn's, I just repositioned the speaker and used zip

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put a pair of these in as my door speakers coupled with a pair or Alpine SPS-610's in the rear deck and an Infinity Basslink in the trunk. These Polk Audios and the Alpines compliment each other PERFECTLY. I use an inexpensive Pioneer deck and a Kenwood 1000w 4ch amp. The sound from these Polks is absolutely amazing. Sure, they aren't competition-level speakers but if you just want to listen to your music at volume, these are perfect and produce near flawless mid-to-hi range sound. The Alpines will take care of the low-to-mid ranges for you. These FAR exceeded my expectations for a pair of speakers at this price and installation was so, so easy. An added bonus is they are beautiful looking speakers. Of course as with 99% of speakers, you won't see them once they are installed but when you first unbox them they are just pretty. And they have separate capacitors and crossovers which I had personally never seen in any non-competition speakers before. I also expected a little bit of rattle or vibration at high volume but they come with rubber rings that go between the speaker and the bracket to prevent this from happening. If you just want or need something as an improvement over your stock speakers, these are a great choice, especially if you run them off of an amplifier...and don't want/need to spend $200 on a pair of speakers.

I installed these in the front doors of a 2002 Yukon. Attached nicely with the plastic insert provided by Crutchfield. These replaced the stock paper speakers and component tweeters. I disconnected the stock tweeters and just run these. Sound is crisp and clear. Mids and highs are nice but hardly any bass which is ok because I'm getting the bass from the rear speakers.

Pros: Crisp clear mids and highs.

Cons: Bass response is minimal.

1996 Saturn SL1
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Alright, I will start with bad first. Unlike Polk's similarly priced DB series these speakers' tweeters can not be tilted. The other bad thing is Polk's sensitivity rating seems a little overly optimistic to say the least, and almost dubious. These speakers require noticeable higher power than stock speakers. So, if you are not planning on powering these with an amplifier (highly unrecommended) than be sure to have a head unit that provides a lot of power. Now, to the good parts. Tied for best aspect of these speakers is sound quality and power handling. These speakers provide a great full range sound (once you tweak the equalizer settings). Power handling, I am currently using a regular aftermarket head unit to power these speakers (not recommended) and they sound better at 75% volume than they do at 25% volume. Also, these speakers provide a "decent" amount of bass (for what they are) some might be able to get away without a separate subwoofer; but I highly unrecommend it. As much as Crutchfield goes on about buying good speakers first, I strongly feel if your stock speakers aren't physically broke (torn foam, ect.); then the best thing you can do for your sonic enjoyment is to add a subwoofer. Note: If you are putting these speakers in an Saturn S-Series; I found it easier to install the brackets into the car first then the speakers; because the speakers sit literally on top of the screws holding the bracket to the car. Also, don't be afraidd to buy scratch and dent.

Pros: *Sound quality *Power handling *Build quality *Cructchfield

Cons: *Tweeters can not be tilted *Polk's sensitivity rating is dubious

2002 Chevrolet Tahoe
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 4 of these to replace some factory front and rear door speakers in my 2002 Tahoe that were pretty shot. First off, installation was a breeze. The highs and mids sound great but I was a little disappointed with the bass. I don't expect ridiculous amounts of bass from a set of 6 1/2" door speakers (that's what a sub is for), but I expect better sound from them in the frequency range between my subwoofer and my mids and highs. I've installed systems in 8 different personal vehicles over the years and have yet to find a 6 1/2" speaker that meets my expectations for bass response, so that's why I stil rated 4 stars. It's as good as, if not better than most of the speakers I've installed, and the price is affordable. Some day I might have to try splurging on a $200 - $400 set of component speakers to see if they meet my expectations.

Pros: - Great price - Significant imrovement over stock speakers

Cons: - Bass response did not meet my expectations

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The stock speakers in my 1998 New Beetle had met the end of their life. Bought these (on sale!), installation was straightforward, and they sound great. I was initially intimidated by having to drill out the rivets holding in the stock speakers, but it wasn't hard at all. The new ones fit beautifully, thanks to the included adapter ring, and overall I'm pleased.

Pros: Bass is nice and punchy, tweeter is sharp. I realize they're not the fanciest speakers, but they sound a million times better than my worn out stock speakers.

Cons:

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound quality of these speakers for mids and highs is excellent. I would agree with others that they definitely lack bass but if you look at the specs that shouldn't be a surprise. In my opinion, these definitely need power. I wouldn't run them off a head unit alone, especially on a stock radio. I installed these a couple days before I put in my amp and subs and they sounded ok. This weekend I started running about 50 RMS to them with the x-over set to 70 Htz. The difference was night and day. With power you can crank these things with no distortion. I got these when they were on sale and dollar for dollar they are the best pair of speakers I've owned.

Pros: crystal clear sound

Cons: lack of bass response

Upgraded

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to upgrade the factory speakers in my '06 Cobalt which had begun to crackle and wear out. This is the first stage in my eventual total audio upgrade. I'm still using the factory stereo. The speakers are hooked up directly to the factory stereo without any amplification. There was a very obvious quality increase over the factory speakers. I'm getting a very clean, crisp sound. Crutchfield provided a complete instruction set which included pictures. The instructions were easy to follow and outlined literally every step necessary to complete the task. Whereas other instruction sets might say to remove the door panel, these tell you specifically where each screw and fastener is located and how best to access them. Additionally, Crutchfield provided factory wiring harness adapters as well as adapter plates for making a clean and custom installation. Those items came free of charge and made the installation considerably easier--no cutting or splicing required. This is less of a review of the speakers and more of a review of Crutchfield itself. The speakers fit and sould amazing. The technical support and additional parts and information provided free of charge by Crutchfield makes it foolish to go anywhere else. This level of service simply doesn't exist anywhere else, in any field, let alone car audio.

Pros: Shallow profile fits my car door perfectly. Wiring harness and adapter plate included by Crutchfield made the installation super easy and reversible, should I decide to remove the upgrades. Provide a very clear and crisp sound. Definitely a quality product for the price.

Cons: Even if I'm trying to be picky, I can't find one. Maybe it'd be nicer if the mounting holes on the speaker were radially symmetical. Hahaha!

2002 Dodge Intrepid
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are golden with high and mid range audio! I was hoping the low end would at least be on par with the factory speakers I took out. Not even close. There is very little audio below 50hz no matter the volume. At 50hz about -15db. At 75hz about -5db. These readings are taken from inside my Dodge Intrepid. Maybe in a ported or sealed enclosure they might be better but I can't hide my dissapointment in low end performance. I now have to rely on my 6x9s in back for anything below 80hz.

Pros: Extreamly good high and mid range performance.

Cons: No bottom.

Bought these on sale to replace the blown factory Infinitys. Great mids and highs, a little kick in the bass, but the mid lows and lows are weak. Installed with a Kenwood Excelon HU, so there's room to expand to a sub later to make up for it. Overall really good speakers.

Pros: On sale. Quick and easy install thanks to Crutchfield support and factory wiring diagrams.

Cons: Low freq is lacking depth under about 120hz. Still good overall sound.

Make sure you get the Door Trim Panel removal tool! That thing is a huge help. For those of you who have broken a panel clip in the past you know what I mean. Once you break it, its just broken! This tool got the job done without any breaks. These DXi650s went in with no problem. You get 8 screws; 4 for each speaker. Remember that! The mounting bracket has 7 holes so just use 4. With the adapter harnesses and the mounting brackets (you can put these together the night before) it just snaps right in. I was most worried about these speakers since I had to take the door apart but it went right in, easiest thing I had to do. No mods, no drilling. Sound is great. There is extreme clarity on highs. Once you turn up the volume the mids come more to life but turned down low it is more of a high sound. With a good sub it is just amazing. I did install the Polks first with the factory everything else. It was night and day improvement even then. Truck: 2001 Chevy 2500 HD Ext Cab Head Unit: MEX-BT4100P Speakers: Polk DXi460p & DXi650s Front Amp: Alpine KTP-445U Sub: Amplified MTX Thunderform (2x10) **Do get the door trim and panel remover tool! Pros: Super easy install Great clarity

Cons: Not a lot of base with these so consider a sub.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have two pair of these in a 2002 Silverado and LOVE them. They play very loud, and Crystal clear for mids and Highs, not much in the bass department but that is to be expected with aftermarket speakers, this lack of bass however is MORE than made up for in the clairity and Volume that they provide. At intial time of install I had a factory deck and they sounded very good, Replaced deck later with an Alpine unit and they sound AMAZING with it. I seriously reccomend the addition of more power using either and aftermarket head unit or an amp to really unlock the full potential of these speakers, you wont be dissapointed..... Price was great too.

Pros: Crystal Clear sound, Price and Volume

Cons: Lacks in Bass as compared to factory speakers but this is to be expected.

2000 Toyota Corolla
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been addicted to Car Audio since I was in High School, buying and selling pretty much everything from every manufacturer..I am 37 years old now. I recently bought a Toyota Corolla for my long, 45 minute commute to work every day....great on gas! After several trips to and from work, I came to the realization that the stock stereo system was not going to cut the mustard. The old tape deck/CD player separate pushing 4, paper 6.5 inch "speakers" sounded like AM radio all the time. My last couple vehicles had separates (Woofer with separate tweeter) setups, but I really didn't want to go through that hassle of running and setting these up again, so I decided on picking up some nice coaxials to just drop in. I knew Polk had a great reputation in the audio world and very much so in car audio. The DXi 650s Polks caught my eye because of their look, the built in crossover filters and because of the butyl rubber surrounds (a must for durability). The DXi 650s speakers were also very reasonably priced. I ordered 4 of these Polks and swapped out the paper speakers in the Corolla. I am only pushing these speakers with an Alpine CDE-141 deck at 18 watts RMS x4 (50 Watts Max x 4). I am blown away by the sound from these Polks. I have had and installed A LOT of speakers in my life and these have to rank right up these with some of the best. The highlight is the tweeters...they will make your ears bleed! Bass is a decent punch but don't expect the Earth to shake!

Pros: Great quality, attractive, built in filters, ear piercing highs.

Cons: Bass is only OK......its tight and responsive but will not shake your car. Would probably be better with an external amplifier or a plug and go amp like the Alpine KTP-445. If you want to boom, plan on a sub woofer setup....if you want tight accurate bass, these will work just fine, depending on how you tune your head unit.

Installed in a 2012 Tacoma in the rear doors. I am powering these via a Alpine KTP445U. They are crystal clear and great all around speakers. I was looking at much more expensive speakers but am glad that I went with these. My volume level has increased and I can turn the volume up to a point where it is unbearable to listen to without any distortion at all. The install was very easy and the fit and finish is excellent.. I highly recommend the Polk Audio speakers to anyone who wants crystal clear sound at a great price

First off I had a car audio specialist install these speakers for me since I know nothing about the brackets and how it all fit together. But these speakers are top notch in every way. I have a kenwood kdc-mp205 head unit which provides these speakers with good power. The highs and mids are crystal clear and the bass is very good for 6 1/2 inch speakers. I don't plan on installing a sub so I went looking for good speakers with bass and these deliver. The bass if turned all the way up, rattles my car a little bit and you can feel it against your chair and while driving around. I highly recommend these speakers to anybody.

Pros: Mids and Highs are crystal clear. The Bass is very very good

Cons: probably the install since it didn't look like normal install speakers (but I didn't do it myself)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ok these speakers DO NOT fit like the factory speakers did, first the additional mounts they gave with speakers is not even close to being aligned to the speaker pocket in door trim, speakers are offset now,Im not sure if this is going to be a issue with the bass or not due to the door trim is tight against speaker now..These speakers have a nice crisp sound, but not much at all for bass.I had polk audio speakers before and the sounded alot better then these newer style. I spent about 2 hours putting these in 2 rear doors of my crew cab truck. Next time I buy speakers I will just buy factory ,they are 100 times easier to install and a 1/3 of the time.

Pros: Crispness of speakers, the factory end plugs that go to polk speakers were perfect.

Cons: No bass, installation is too time consuming, compared to just buying factory speakers, speakers are now offset in the door trim, blocking some sound, maybe bass as well. Im not so happy with installation extras to put aftermarket speakers in.

Good speaker, bad instructions

Written by: Paul from Chicago, IL on January 26, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these Polk speakers to replace blown factory originals in a 2003 Honda Accord sedan. The speakers themselves seem to be good quality and the sound quality after installation is at least as good as the originals. Because the factory speakers are fairly shallow, these Polk speakers are also on the shallow side, but they have much larger magnets than the originals. Unlike the originals, they also have a center tweeter element, although this is not really very useful in my car since the extra high frequency sparkle is wasted at foot height, and that is why the Accord has dash mounted tweeters. The crossover electronics are mounted to the speaker frame near the connectors. I bought from Crutchfield because of their reputation for helping to select speakers that would fit the car correctly and work well in balance with the factory stereo, and even more importantly because of their installation instructions which are supposed to be detailed and specific to the make and model of car. However in this instance I found the Crutchfield instructions to be very brief and they left out some critical information, resulting in components of the car door being damaged due to incorrect disassembly sequence. After a week I still can't close my car doors to drive it and am waiting on new parts from Honda. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in my 1996 nissan maxima in july im running an alpine cde hd137bt head unit and until i recently installed subs these speakers got a workout. They have incredible low end to them i only played my music on 10 out of 35 on the volume and boosted the bass to 7 at 100hz with a medium bandwith setting and even then it would vibrate my rearview mirror a bit. Not only are these speakers loud but they're crystal clear you hear every note in the track.

Pros: loud, can shake mirrors if set right durrable, lasted 5 months being driven to the max with bass and still work phenominally now that my subs take care of the low end the clarity is unbelievable in a sealed car you could hear the music perfect from 50ft away

Cons: bit of a pain to install but that was bose's fault not polk audio's can't think of anything else

Great sound to replace dry-rotted speakers in my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Reasonably priced, quality speakers. Very simple installation with included parts. Had to drill one hole for each bracket but took about 45 seconds each. Great Crutchfield service, as expected. Thanks!

Pros: Good sounding speakers to replace dry-rotted ones. Installation package makes it very simple to install at home.

I bought these for my back doors for my Toyota Double Cab Tacoma. Crutchfield said they were just a hair taller than the recommended size (depth between door panel and speaker), and couldn't guarantee they would clear the door panel. However, I took a chance because I wanted to match my polk components in the front, and they fit perfect.

This is the second set of these speakers I have bought. Installed the first set in my '99 New Beetle, then had to replace the car with a '98 and unknowingly bought the identical set of speakers to replace the dry-rot OEM ones. Installation is pretty simple, sound is as good and probably better than the original speakers. A worthy replacement for the stock speakers, and am glad I bought them. Everything needed was in the package, which makes the install so easy. Add a powered sub and you have a really nice sound system.

2000 GMC Sierra 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2000 GMC Sierra 1500 single cab door speakers finally disintegrated. They just got old and needed replacing. These speakers fit PERFECTLY in place of the stock ones. With Crutchfields wire harness adapters and mounting adapters, there's no modifications to be made to anything. They literally snap in place. I did carefully remove the rubber spacers from the old speakers to put them between the adapters and the doors to give it some cusion and prevent any plastic to metal buzzes, but other than that, they went in extremely easily. And, of course, they sound WAY better than the stock ones. My stereo is the stock one, and I don't have any additional amps or anything. I'm sure if I did, they would sound even better. I coupled them with the infinity speakers behind the seats replacing the stock ones there too. I'm very happy with these speakers.

Pros: Extremely easy to mount with NO modifications.

Cons:

good speakers but a pain in the butt

Written by: Matthew T from Olathe Kansas on November 30, 2012

let me start off by saying these speakers are a pain in the butt to install, but after about an hour or so i finally got them in and the sound quality was very good but the bass couldve been better. im not that worried about the bass considering that i will be putting subs into the car but if you are looking for some speakers with good sound quality then get these. it has good highs and mids and okay lows. i havent had them long enough to say that much about them considering i just installed them today but overall good speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They sound great, but I really haven't had them long enough to hand out 5 stars. I have them on a high-pass filter and mids are much less muddy than the ol' factory speakers, and highs are nice and clear. You'll actually want to turn down the mid and treble settings on your EQ a couple notches from what you're used to if you've just upgraded.

Pros: High sensitivity and they play loud. I'm used to listening to metal at a slightly lower volume to avoid distortion from lesser speakers, and I kinda gave myself a headache trying these out.

Cons: Needed like .5mm more clearance where they meet my Honda Fit door panels, but I squeezed 'em in.

Just replaced the factory speakers in my new 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Big mistake, should have left the stock speakers in. I have previously owned a Chevy truck that I installed all Polk speakers in and it sounded terrific. These speakers were just really bad. The sound is way to heavy on the treble, so bad that I have to turn the treble all the way down to -10 just to be able to tolerate it. The bass is worse than the factory speakers. Am not sure what to do now. I want to return them, but I don't want to spend 2 more hours taking them out to send them back, then having to spend 2 more hours installing another option. Will probably just take them out and put the factory speakers back in. Really disappointed because I've owned Polk speakers before and loved them. This time, they are flat out terrible.

Pros: The price

Cons: Shrill overpowering highs, bass weaker than factory speakers I replaced

I have the stock Bose speaker system that came in my 06 Avalanche. I did not like the stock radio so I replaced it with a new Sony, but I noticed things still sounded "muddy" or like people were talking through a pillow. I am no audio expert so I used the online chat and talked to Jenny, which pointed me to these. I purchased these and just replaced my front door speakers. WOW what a difference! When I answer my phone through my car stereo (via bluetooth) people sound so much clearer (very crisp). My audio books that I play (also via bluetooth) are also very clear sounding. The base is waaayy better, you can actually "feel" the base now. I am now saving up to replace the "Bose" speakers in the back. There is no question in my mind that Bose car speakers are garbage because of the vast difference I noticed.

Pros: I got the Master sheet with my purchase which made the whole replacement process so much easier.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound really nice for replacing my 1999+ year model GMC truck speakers which had holes in them. They may not have quite the low-end bass that the originals did, but the sound quality is excellent. I CAN see where these would have a very nice bass response in the proper enclosure - as a vehicle door is not optimum. I installed the supplied adapter with the removed factory baffle behind it, then the speaker without the gasket. Probably no big deal but I would install the gasket if I were to do it over, as the supplied bracket worked outstandingly in my particular install. The depth looked a tad long but the door panels fit perfectly upon final install. I am 100 percentile pleased with this puchase and recommendation by Josh. Thanks! Don't know how you guys do it, but after logging in I find my purchase history is pretty much complete back to 1991!!!! Except for those awesome crutchfield (PPI) amps that you sold back in the day!

Even better, I can more easily distinguish the individual instruments within any music I listen to. They are slightly weak on the bottom end but, not regretfully so. I purchased these speakers since they were on sale and I was looking to upgrade my factory sound in my 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited. They're a huge improvement over the factory speakers (which were a joke). The adapter harnesses that came free with the order worked perfectly so I didn't have to tamper with my factory wiring at all. I didn't use the speaker adapter brackets because they weren't needed. My car has a factory bracket that I used instead (just required cutting the old speaker out of and drilling a few holes to mount the new speaker). These speakers were super easy to install and they sound great. I put these in with a 4 channel amp. I turned the amp all the way to zero across the board during the install. When I first turned on the stereo I was thinking, "Yeah that sounds alright." Then I tuned the amp and what a difference, it was like opening the door to a concert in truck. I installed these in the rear doors of my 2000 Dodge Durango, easy fit, and no problem at all. Up front I put in Alpine component 610PSP's. They are a great compliment to each other as the Polk pick up a bit more of the base. I'll be adding 2 Kicker 10's to this system with it's own dedicated amp splitting the power. Half going to each 10. These speakers will eventually be used to only pick up the mid's and highs. If you plan to use these speakers definitely get an amp to power them, your factory deck won't cut it, and you'll be glad you did.

Pros: Sound great, perfect fit.

Cons: I would have had to mode the door panlel to use the supplied speaker guard, but I want a stealth type system so not really a big deal.

I replaced my factory speakers in a 2007 Honda Accord EX with 4 of these on the advice of Chad, 2 for the front doors and 2 for the rear deck. The original rear deck speakers were 6x9's. The speakers went in pretty easy even though I had to go out and buy mounting screws for the front door adapters. Crutchfield said they supplied everything, but these were no where to be found. Once I got the speakers in I did notice more clarity in the mid and high range frequencies. But, the low frequencies were missing. These speakers are rated to reproduce frequencies down to 50 Hz. Looking at the factory speakers I know these should at least reproduce the frequencies of those. But, they did not. I guess the manufacturers and retailers want you to pay for more speakers (AKA subs) when you really shouldn't need to.

1997 Ford Escort
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I originally got these speakers to replace a worn out set of Kicker KS60's. The Kickers were really lacking in detail and I was looking for something more balanced sounding. These Polk's were one of the few speaker options that would actually fit in the front doors of my Escort without the tweeter stopping the door panel from going on and the Crutchfield adviser recommended them. They were better than the Kickers in the detail department but that is were the good news ends. They sound shrill to the point that I couldn't listen to some songs without wincing! There is something in the mid-treble that is really messed up and over-exaggerated on these speakers and no amount of EQ tweaking could fix it. They also have a big lack of warmth in the sound. I don't know if my my experience had anything to do with me running these off my Pioneer headunit instead of an amp but I really don't think it would have helped. I can't recommend these speakers to anyone, especially at this price. Now here is the kicker, I ended up replacing them with a set of Pioneer TS-G1644R which Crutchfield says won't fit in my. Guess what, they fit perfectly with no modifications. They are easily 10 times better than the Kickers and 20 times better than the Polk's for around half the price.

Pros: Look nice, well constructed, decent crossovers.

Cons: Sound quality

I don't enjoy leaving below-average reviews, but I've had a bunch of good speakers before, including polks, and these just didn't cut it. I think it was because I didn't have them hooked up to an amp (had them hooked up to a 20rms aftermarket jvc instead, but I also hooked up kickers, which were an improvement. Even without an amp, though, they should still be better than the factory; instead, they lacked any headroom whatsoever, not even an excuse for any. may try polk again, but unlikely. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Most of the reviews are favorable but a few. Now the negative review must be some young kid who wants to have bad hearing . I for one am very happy with my speakers. I have a 99 volkswagon passat. Now replacing the old speaker was a job in itself but well worth the sound quality. Im a 41 yr old male and i enjoy good sound that wont cuase me to loose my hearing. In the end the speakers are sweet and well worth the money.I bought 4 and im glad i did. I plan on buying more polk speakers after These and why because there good PERIOD!

Pros: Quality speakers with some thump.

Cons: Wish I bought these a year ago.I suffered through garbage factory speakers for to damn long.

Great speaker for the price. Sounds much better than stock speakers and install wasn't too hard. I had to drill new holes because there is no adapter for my install but wiring is a breeze with the included adapter. Just plug it in and listen.

Pros: Sound, quality, price

Cons: No adapter bracket for some applications

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in my 2002 Subaru Outback Wagon, running them off an older Pioneer DEH-6400. (22 watts RMS and 50 peak) Mid's and high's are crystal clear at low volume's. But if you try to crank them on deck power, they destort like mad, even after playing with the deck's eq, and many settings. To wrap it up, a great speaker, but don't even think about running them without a dedicated amp. After talking with Duke, I'm returning these for a set of Boston SE65rc's.

Pros: Brilliant High's, not tinny. Nice Mid's, very accurate reproduction.

Cons: You need an amp to run them any louder than a moderate volume level.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these to get better sound out of soundbar in my Jeep. I recieved with the brackets and mopar connectors. Thanks Crutchfield :Made everything simple. However i will say these speakers reach levels of clarity that i forgot exsisted. So far a good upgrade but they will show you how incredibly underpowered and terrible your front component set, and factory radio are.:( , now i just cant leave well enough alone and will be saving to Upgrade front components with the matching Polk dxi set and , next the infinity bass link II for a little boom in the trunk. and A new radio. Till then happy trails and smooth sound . Thanx Crutchfield for all the great tech support and staff.. Love my purchase great place to start. Now i can actually here my country when riding the trails with the top down......

Pros: Slim mount for limited space

Cons: ***only if installing in soundbar lightly fill around empty space or you will here dome light rattle..**** No cons at all with speaker set . POLK Audio Is everything you need for cramped space ....

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Polk Audio speakers are a great pairing with the Clarion CX201 head unit. The audio is clear and the bass is good for a standard four speaker system in my 2004 Subaru Baja. Easy to install and the adapters for the harnesses made life easy. Couldn't ask for anything better for the price. The speaker covers will look good if you can use them.

1997 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield needs to do more research into the kinds of wiring harnesses and speakers put into the various kinds of Mercedes. The instructions show an entirely different kind of speaker for the front doors, their picture suggests it's a two way speaker while the actual 6 1/2 in my door is a single mid-bass/full range with a component tweeter mounted at the mirror. Crutchfield listed that there would be no need for special wiring or connectors for the speakers and they were grossly incorrect. There is a two pin connector that is uniquely "mercedes" that is held in place by the integral speaker basket. There is no "modify the speaker basket" to mount these speakers as crutchfield suggested. The front door speakers are glued into their factory brackets in such a way that they effectively become one unit. There are no spade terminals that you can access to make use of the factory wiring with the new speaker. I wound up having to cut the connector from the factory speakers to patch to a pair of leads with terminals to connect to the after market speakers. The Scoche brand speaker mounting brackets are effectively garbage for this application. Tons of google searches provides very little information on how to actually do an install speakers in this vehicle. This is the first time I've been somewhat disappointed with crutchfield support or tech documents.

Pros: Good sound as with all Polk speakers

Cons: Poor install support on whether it would fit my application for the front doors of a 97 Mercedes E320.

Pros: great speakers

Cons: Did not really fit my front door speaker box in my 2003 Toyota Tundra Extra cab. Not happy with adaptor bracket took some customization. Should be not be listed as a fit for 2003 Toyota Tundra ExCab

2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these installed in the roll bar location of my 2011 Jeep Wrangler, paired with the Polk Audio DXi6500 component speakers up front (which are fantastic). I have a four channel amp powering the components and a sub, but for now I have the DXi 650s running off of the head unit for fill as they are mounted just above and in back of the front seats. Obviously I'm not driving them very hard but they do a nice job of enveloping the driver and passenger in sound. They sound great with no distortion, nice full range and clear highs. I would recommend the DXi6500s if budget and the project allowed for components, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these full range speakers to others.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced the 6.5" speakers in the doors and hatchback. Paired with a JVC KW-XR610 radio and it sounds great - heads and shoulders above the factory unit/speakers. The speakers are not amplified so they aren't even close to their upper working range. Decent bass, but really nice highs. Factory speakers had more bass, but less highs. Factory speakers sounded muddy. I have Polk speakers in my home theater, so I'm partial. Very nice for a speaker set at this price.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds good - far better than stock and at a good value. I find that the volume knob set higher to get the same perceived volume but the factory head can stil drive the system to the point that it too loud for me and starts to resonate parts of the Jeep into rattles and buzzing. These are that an adequate solution for my daily driver.

Good OEM replacement

Written by: Scott from Austin, TX on August 21, 2011

I replaced the paper OEMs in my Hyundai Sonata. They fit up reasonably well, but the brackets don't exactly match up with the OEM speaker bolt holes. I had to drill one hole for each speaker to get the brackets to work. Wiring harness supplied with the kit fit up well. The sound is very clear, with crisp highs and good power handling -- little (if any) distortion at full volume. There is absolutely no bass (which is an issue with the head unit, not the speakers), but I also installed a powered Bazooka bass tube behind the passenger seat, so the overall effect is excellent. Would recommend as a OEM replacement.

These speakers are in my 2011 Jeep Wrangler soundbar. They are being amplified by an Alpine MRP-F300 amp. They sound great. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great. They handle lots of power and sound clear and crisp and hardly any distortion. Not a lot of bass, but that is expected for a 6.5" speaker. It is listed as a "fit" for the front door speakers of a '98 Isuzu Rodeo but they do not fit. The stock door speakers are square shaped and the round Polk screw holes did not line up. Happy with the speaker quality, not happy I was lead to believe they would fit my car.

I replaced the factory speakers in my 2011 Honda Ridgeline with Pinoeer TS- G1643R speakers after replacing the head unit and installing an amp. I was very disappointed in the shallow sound of the Pioneer speakers so I replaced them with these speakers. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The sound is now full and sounds wonderful. Do not waste your money on inexpensive speakers if you want decent sound. Cheap speakers are loud, but they sound terrible. You can't go wrong with these speakers!

I picked these up to replace some Kickers that I bought that blew. These speakers sound amazing and the install process was really easy. I kept the grilles on because the tweeter hit against my stock grille. In a 1997 Jeep Cherokee these were an awesome choice because they are marine certified. The fact that water may or may not get into my door was a huge reason I bought these.

1998 Toyota Corolla
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased 2 pairs of Polk Audio DXi 650s speakers to replace OEM speakers in a 1998 Toyota Corolla. The difference is like night and day. I paired them with a Kenwood KDC- HD458U receiver. No matter what the source (HD radio, CD, MP3 player), they sound great. The sound is as clear at power level 1 as it is at around 30 (I don't actually know how high I cranked it) - and the speakers handled it with no distortion. If you want bass to rattle your windows - get a sub-woofer. But otherwise these do just fine.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I set out to replace two stock speakers in the front thinking that one was blown and I could hear the one flapping away, I went to three Stereo Installers with those prices in mind I was referred to Crutchfield from my brotherinlaw. I made the call and spoke with Ziggy he could tell that I was looking for more of a replacement speaker, looking toward a nice assortment we agreed on Polk Audio DXI650s fronts and since I was installing ( saving money ) DXI460 rears. Manual in one hand, Panel tool in the other all four panels off in minutes, looking at the factory plastic film that came unglued now I knew it wasn't the speaker. Reglued film reinstalled factory speakers, wow sounded real good, BUT the curiousity got to me, Factory out - Polk Audio's in - Factory Speakers went directly to the basement . Nice Bass equivalent but cleaner at higher volume, Mid range is so much tighter (solo guitars and vocals ) , Highs- I had to adjust that a couple of times and play with it since I kept the original tweeters also, making that four tweeters. The GM stereo had a few adjustments and automatic adjustments- pop, rock, jazz, country I tried them all. Thank you Ziggy and the Crutchfield Team it sounds Great !

Nice speaker and looks great, but the bass sounded ALOT BETTER in the store then in the door. My blown stock speakers have more bass then these, but the Polk in not made for low bass just mid. And it does that really well. Great sound up to about 3/4 volume from stock radio. I will be replacing the back speakers with POLK when the time comes. Over all I like them. Just need a sub now..........

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced worn stock speakers in 1995 Civic Coupe today. This was the first time I ever installed car speakers. Installation was easy. Took just 20 minutes. No alteration was required (didn't have to cut into plastic mounting). Just be careful with the terminal tabs on the speakers. They are a bit flimsy and bend easily. Hope they hold up over time. As for the sound, they are probably as good as the original speakers were when they were new, since those were excellent, albeit on the decline. The bass is just fine in this small car. Using them with the Kenwood KDC-248U receiver.

Awesome speakers. Insane high and mid-range, with surprisingly good bass as well. But you can't expect much bass out of a 6.5" anyways, so don't think I am endorsing any thump, you need a good sub for that. All in all a sweet speaker, have 4 tied to the stock H/U in my Wrangler and they sound great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed to replace a pair of Boston Acoustics and I was going to get the current equivalent but the Crutchfield rep pointed out that these were more efficient. Since they were a bit cheaper I decided to go with his recommendation. I have not been disappointed. These handle a lot of range and reproduce a nice, even musical experience. I hooked it up to an Alpine CDA-105 which seems to have a lot more power than the speakers need so I've had to be careful not to overdrive them but all in all they work great in my ancient Camry.

Features

High Efficiency Design: The Polk Audio DXi Series speakers feature a high efficiency design so less amplifier power is needed for more audio output, meaning better sound and more volume using less power.

Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized Components: For a driver to reproduce complex sounds accurately, the cone must move in exactly the same distance and manner in both directions of travel. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Composite Cones: Each Polk DXi650s speaker features a Dynamic Balance, polymer/mica composite cone woofer. These composite cones feature tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients and finer detail.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the speaker uses butyl rubber surrounds.

Silk Dome Tweeters: Each Polk DXi650s speaker features a 3/4" silk dome tweeter for clearer, more accurate highs. Each tweeter employs a light-weight neodymium magnet for higher efficiency.

2-way Crossover Network: The built-in 2-way crossover network sends the appropriate frequencies to each driver for cleaner sound and better imaging.
