About the Polk Audio LC265i
The LC265i is Polk's premier in-wall speaker. Taking advantage of the same advanced technologies that made Polk's critically acclaimed LSi loudspeakers so successful, it includes a high-performance tweeter and dual woofers for incredibly natural, sophisticated sound. And since the LCi speakers install directly into your walls, you can enjoy that stellar audio quality without crowding your room with bulky speaker cabinets.
The key to the LCi speakers' astonishing sound is their Ring Radiator tweeter the same tweeter found on ultra-high-end speakers costing $10,000 a pair. This specially designed 1" tweeter delivers smooth, extended highs all the way out to 26,000 Hz. Plus, it's swivel-mounted on the LC265i's front baffle, so you can direct the high frequencies toward your favorite listening position. And for maximum treble control, use the tweeter level switch to tailor the sound to suit your personal taste and room's acoustics.
The LC265i uses two 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance® woofers one handles the midrange while the other pumps out the bass. You'll marvel at the rich, warm, well-balanced sound. Polk's Infinite Baffle Tuning reinforces the low frequencies, taking advantage of the virtual enclosure of in-wall space for improved bass response. And Polk's exclusive Power Port venting cuts down on air turbulence and port noise for cleaner, fuller low-frequency tones. You can even use the wall distance toggle switch to flatten the bass response ideal for avoiding a boomy bass sound if your speaker is installed near a corner. That's a lot versatility for an in-wall speaker.
Careful design and sturdy build are a must for high-quality in-wall sound. Polk's Casket Basket® construction keeps the speaker's drivers in rigid alignment, and the dense, acoustically inert baffle virtually eliminates annoying resonance. The LC265i is rust- and moisture-resistant for safe use in bathrooms, kitchens, saunas, and even under outdoor eaves. Installation is easy thanks to the speaker's rotary cam design. (For new-construction installation, we recommend Polk's Performance Enclosure, sold separately, for the best possible in-wall sound.)
You can put together a complete in-wall home theater speaker system using the LCi speakers and a powered sub. Plus, since the LCis are voice-matched to Polk's LSi loudspeakers, you can mix and match in-wall and free-standing speakers to suit your listening space.

Features
Dynamic Balance Technology: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.
Subwoofer: The speaker features a 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance, mineral composite polypropylene subwoofer for deep, accurate bass. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer uses a rubber surround.
Midrange: The speaker has a 6-1/2" Dynamic Balance, aerated polypropylene midrange driver for clean, distortion-free midrange. The midrange driver also uses a rubber surround.
Tweeter: The speaker uses a 1" Ring Radiator tweeter for crisp, transparent highs. The ultra-light woven Ring Radiator Diaphragm delivers flat response, precise detail and overall accuracy. A High Frequency Waveguide prevents phase cancellations for smooth, uniform frequency response and wide dispersion. A Low Frequency Waveguide promotes laminar airflow between chambers to prevent air turbulence. This feature serves the same function as Power Port for Polk's bass systems. The ball-and-socket swivel mount lets you aim the tweeter in any direction to give you direct high-frequency control, resulting in excellent imaging even for off-axis listening positions.
Power Port: This speaker is equipped with Polk Audio's patented Power Port bass venting system. The Power Port was designed into the speaker to extend deep bass efficiency and definition.
Infinite Baffle Tuning: Infinite Baffle Tuning uses the virtual enclosure of in-wall space for superior bass response.
Moisture-resistant: Durable, moisture-resistant materials allow you to install the speaker in a bathroom, kitchen, sauna, even under outdoor eaves.
Timbre-matched: The speaker is timbre-matched to the Polk Audio LSi Series for seamless, enveloping imaging when used in a home theater system. You can mix and match any of the LCi-series in-wall and in-ceiling speakers with the LSi Series high performance floor-standing and bookshelf speakers.
Terminals: The speaker features gold-plated spring post terminals.
Controls
Accessible Controls: The LC265i features technology that can tailor the sound for performance in difficult or unusual placement situations. The following controls are located on the front panel of the speaker (behind the grille):
- Wall Distance Toggle: In-wall speakers excel when placed more than 2' from side walls. When the speaker is mounted closer than 2', the result is a "bump" in response between 50 and 200 Hz. The speaker has a Distance Toggle Switch circuit that flattens the response and tunes out the "boominess" if mounted closer than 2' from a side wall.
- Tweeter Attenuator: If the listening room is very reflective, with smooth sheetrock walls, hardwood floors, and non-cushioned furniture, the sound will overly "bright" and unnatural. In this case, you can engage the LCi -3 dB Tweeter Attenuator (select the "Cut" setting) to flatten the room response without hindering higher frequency response for warmer, more realistic sound and more accurate imaging.
Mounting Options
Installation: The speaker requires a cutout 7-1/4" wide and 19-1/4" high with a depth of 2-3/4" behind 1/2" drywall. Once the hole is cut, the speaker can be dropped in and the Rotating Cams can be tightened, allowing you to secure the speaker to the drywall without any extra assembly. If you will not be mounting the speaker in drywall, make sure the wall or ceiling material can safely support the weight of the speaker before installation; the speaker weighs approximately 11 pounds.
Paintable: The grille and flange can be painted, allowing the speaker to match any décor. A clear plastic paint mask is included to protect the "unpaintable" speaker parts.
Performance Enclosure Compatibility: An optional Polk Audio custom built LCi Performance Enclosure gives the LCi in-wall speaker the performance edge by hiding a complete, perfect-volume speaker cabinet within the wall before the wall is even completed. The LCi Performance Enclosure is specially constructed of high density MDF and fill material in a size that fits securely between wall and ceiling studs in pre-drywall construction. Adjustable brackets make pre-construction installation simple. Vibration-damping foam pads ensure rattle-free performance.
