The paintable, low-profile grille allows Polk's MC65 in-wall speaker to blend easily into the background.
Experience rich, room-filling sound from speakers that disappear into your surroundings. Polk's MC65 speakers install flush in your wall for a sleek, décor-friendly look. Use the 3/4" pivoting tweeter to precisely direct the high frequencies and really dial in your system's sound. The 6-1/2" woofer provides smooth bass and mid-bass. And this speaker's moisture-resistant design means you can use it in your kitchen, bathroom, sauna, or even under the eaves outside.
Install a pair of the MC65s for stereo music listening. These speakers can also work as the fronts, center, and surrounds in a surround sound system. The MC65s are voice-matched with the other MC in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, so you can mix and match.
An optional in-wall bracket is recommended for installing the MC-65 in a new home under construction.
Debated on whether to use these or round ones and maybe spend more money. The surround sound turned out great and at a great price point! Installantion was easy but be careful when you put the grills on or you'll bend them. Thanks Polk & Crutchfield
Pros: Quality Style Price
Cons: Sensitive grills
Great price, great sound and easy to install. Can't ask for anything better. Look create with the white grill they come with on a freshly painted white ceiling.
Pros: Easy installation and great sound. Aimable tweeter is a cool perk.
Quality speakers at a great price. Can't go wrong with Polk.
Great Product, Great Price
I bought four for surround speakers in a 7.1 system. Everything went very smoothly. The mounting directions and template provided worked well. The fit and finish are good. The speakers sound good in this application. I debated between the 8 inch version and the 6.5 inch version. I called tech support and they recommended the 6.5 in this application. Very satisfied.
Pros: Easy install. Good sound
These speakers are a great value for the price.
Installed these in our classroom and conference room and the sound is incredible. Installation was very straight forward and love the look/design.
Pros: Pirce, design, sound quality
Cons: None to mention
I purchased these Polk Audio in wall speakers to replace my old Sony cube surround speakers.
These speakers provide great surround sound, that surpassed those old Sony cubes. The directional tweeter allow me to aim the tweeters to suit my room layout.
Pros: Great price and great sound. Installation was straightforward, use the cutout, insert the speakers and tighten the adjustment clips to give it a professional look and feel.
Cons: One of the grates on the speaker had to be tweaked to get it to fit snugly into the frame.
I was on the fence about using these as rear surround speakers in a relatively small room. I decided to give them a shot and i'm very happy I kept them. Easy installation, just make sure you don't but them up against a 2 x 4 in the wall as they have arms that need to open up to grab the wall.
Overall incredible sound experience now watching tv. They offer a very clear full sound and I couldn't be happier.
Pros: Great price, nice sound!
Cons: Bigger speakers than I expected, but not a problem.
I bought these to replace a pair of no-name's that were installed by the previous owner. The old ones had decent bass but vibrated on low frequencies (i.e. Mr. Probz - Wave after Wave) and I decided on these (without any way of hearing them first) due to price, reviews and the fact that they have a suggested power range of 20-100 watts. I wouldn't say they have great lows (I always thought of Polks as having more mid-range than anything else), but I also no longer have the vibration. That being said, I'm also using these with a 20 yr. old Yamaha 50 watt receiver and considering going with the Denon AVR-S500BT which puts out a little more power at 70w per channel. One oddity: neither box came with any sort of specs: only the installation guide and template along with a registration card. Anyhow, I'll follow up if and when I upgrade to the Denon. Who knows, I may even add a sub.
Update 3.1.2015 Sorry for the long delay in updating this review. I purchased the Denon AVR-S500BT through a big box store since no other site had it in stock (not even Denon) and it was a big disappoinment: the lows were nowhere near my old Yamaha and both channels only worked on the stereo setting. Anyhow, maybe there was a "break-in" period for these Polk's, but I'm really impressed with them. The lows are much better than I thought, whether listening to .mp3's or streaming video. You can't go wrong with these, especially for the price.
Pros: Overall, a decent sound
Cons: Thus far, not great lows, but not horrible either.
This product has great sound quality and is a wonderful addition to our newly installed Home theater system. We love the quality, easy install, and price for the product.
Pros: price, product, quality, sound
Last year we built our first home and wired it up for sound, even the bathrooms. 17 of these MC 65s all around the house. Amazing clarity and length of sound waves. Big rooms, small rooms, all clear, crisp sound. I'm not kidding, being at my buddies house, (he put in a $7,000 system, mostly in ceiling speakers, no bathrooms, professionally installed, dead spots everywhere), mine sounds unbelievably better, more thorough, way more pure, and I'm in it for just over $1,200! Thanks to these superb speakers. (If you're doing a home wire, do your bathrooms too, you won't regret it).
Snoop Dogg to Celine Dion, these babies get it done. Mark Knopfler is king in my house. I was happy with the price point and clean rectangular look. And the name Polk, well, let's just say I was already a Polk fan, now I'm even more in love. Sioux hockey game sounds bleed throughout it every room.
The grill does need convincing to get seated properly, which could gouge a speaker if one isn't careful. A little bend here and there, they sit ok.
The aimable tweeters are amazing for filling gaps or ceiling bouncing. The ceiling bounce gives a full carry but there's nothing like a direct shot of tweeter to your senses. Every home is different. You choose the final sound.
Powering is the Sony Bluetooth Receiver I got during Christmas. Love it. Now anyone can play tunes over the house, even guests. Simple volume knobs in each room for isolation volume and impedence matching.
Pros: Love everything about them.
Cons: Speaker grill needs convincing.
I like the speakers sound is great. I however found the grills difficult to install. I feel the grills were not formed correctly.
Pros: Speaker performance
Cons: Grills do not fit very well.
I'm very pleased with these speakers. Great sound and clarity whether we're listening to music, or watching a movie. Although I left them white, they came ready for painting with the mask in place., which I thought was cool. I think they'd be a great complement to a surround system.
Pros: Versatile, good sound, good price point.
Cons: Haven't found any yet - they've met or exceeded my expectations.
Great front speakers for surround sound
Pros: Easy to install, great sound
Cons: None yet
We are enjoying our speakers. The sound is great.
Great quality speakers, just as expected since Crutchfield sells it.
Sound Quality is very good. Wall installation is very easy. Cool factor is very high. The frame and grill are difficult to paint and get an even finish but once completed look very good.
Pros: Great Sound, easy installation.
Cons: Difficult to paint to match the wall
I have these speakers on my deck overhang - they sound fantastic. I am planning on using them for my surround sound in my basement home theater.
Pros: Look great and blend fantastic with the ceiling. Sound crisp and have good bass as well.
Good product for installation in new construction.
Great in-wall speakers. I started out with 2, purchased 2 more and plan to purchase 2 more again to use on my covered patio for outdoor listening. I originally was going to put smaller speakers on shelves around my room but I am so glad to have seen these instead. They look great in the wall and the sound quality is excellent. Great value as well.
Pros: Sleek looking, good value
I was very satisfied with the overall performance of these speakers . They have better bass response than I expected and were very easy to install.
My install was fairly complex due to inaccessibiliy of certain areas of my hose. How ever the instal was a breeze in comparison to installing the silly speake grills. In the end a couple of mine dented but thanks to Crutchfield they were replaced
Pros: Sound, price and ease of install
Cons: The grills are very finicky and delicate
just installed with initial great results. Very ez to install and service and deliver were excellent. Uisng 3 as front and center speakers
Pros: ez install, exceptional support to select, fast delivery
I purchased four Polk Audio MC-65 speakers to use as my front and rear speakers in my surround system. They were simple to install, sound great. I used a Polk Audio 255C-RT as the center channel and a Polk Audio DSW Pro 660wi sub woofer. I am using a Onkyo TX NR818 receiver. This system was easy to install, Crutchfield support was awesome!
We're pleased with the sound these speakers give. The bass response is much better than we expected. Installation was straight forward and reasonable with the proper tools.
Pros: Non-complicated installation by the included instructions. The sound is surprising good for a small, in-wall speaker.
Cons: speaker grill is just a smudge too large, difficult to put in place.
Sotemunds great -using as rear in surround 5.1. Have Polk audio bookshelf speakers and center channel . these work very well wit sys
Pros: good quality. great sound
Cons: speaker grills are a real pain to install. they are just too tight. should re-design
Speakers look and sound great!
Speakers are amazing! I've had these for a month now and couldn't be happier. I have them hooked up to a sony str-dh740 as fronts. Sound great look great And were way better than I expected for the low price. I would recommend these to every one
Pros: Sound great, look great, installation was easy!
Cons: Haven't had any cons so far
Solid speaker I would have given it a 5 except the grill do not lock into place solidly
Pros: Good sound, great price and easy to install
Cons: Speaker grills do not lock into place well
I installed a pair of these in the eaves of my roof overhang in our back yard; they're about 30 feet apart on a house that is 70 feet long. The climate here is very dry, and the MC65's are rated for a humid environment, such as a bathroom, so I don't expect any issues with the environment. They are driven by a Grace digital radio, primarily so my wife can listen to NPR while gardening and I can enjoy streamed classical music from stations near and far. These speakers have great sound; it seems they like seeing the large volume of attic behind them in this sort of semi-infinite baffle installation. The bass is great, midrange is clean, the highs are crisp and well dispersed, and if you sit in the right area in the garden the stereo imaging is pretty good as well. The 16W/channel from the Grace radio is more than adequate to drive these to levels that would annoy our neighbors, so their sensitivity in this application is very good. I am very pleased with the MC65's.
Pros: Install was very easy: Select a location, check for structure, trace the template, cut and mount - very easy.
Cons: Can't think of any at this time.

MC Series: The Polk Audio MC Series in-wall/in-ceiling loudspeakers offer great built-in sound for multi-room listening. The MC Series features Dynamic Balance driver technology, an aimable tweeter, and polymer cone woofers, which ensures your music always sounds crisp and clear. The MC Series also uses infinite baffle tuning for excellent bass response, so you can install them in virtually any kind of wall.
Dynamic Balance Technology: Laser imaging technology allows Polk Audio engineers to see the entire vibrating surface of a driver and tweeter; they can actually see the resonance develop on the speaker cones-resonance that is the root cause of loudspeaker distortion. Being able to see the resonance develop, they then determine the Dynamic Balance of high-tech materials, geometry and construction that together effectively tune out the offending resonance. Exclusive Dynamic Balance Composite Material Technology delivers sound that is effortlessly clean and clear, even at lifelike volume levels.
Woofer: The Polk Audio MC65 in-wall speaker features a 6.5" Dynamic Balance Polymer Composite Cone for smooth wide-range response with low distortion. The polymer composite cone provides excellent damping and bass response while resisting deterioration. For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a rubber surround.
Tweeter: The MC65 in-wall speaker uses a 3/4" aimable silk dome tweeter with neodymium magnet for clear, detailed highs and excellent imaging even for off-axis listening positions. Aiming the tweeter toward your listening position improves imaging and detail.
Infinite Baffle Tuning: Infinite Baffle Tuning uses the virtual enclosure of in-wall/in-ceiling space for superior bass response.
Moisture-resistant: Durable, moisture-resistant materials allow you to install the speakers in bathrooms, kitchens, saunas, even under outdoor eaves.
Timbre-matched: The MC Series speakers are timbre matched to Polk Audio's freestanding speakers, such as the Polk Monitor, TSi, and OWM series; just in case you need in-wall/in-ceiling surround speakers to match your freestanding fronts.
Installation: Each speaker requires a cutout of 7.25" (W) x 12.75" (H), with a depth of 3.1875" behind the drywall. Each speaker frame has a width of 8.5" and a height of 14.3125". Once the holes are cut, each speaker is placed in the opening and the Rotating Cams are tightened, allowing you to secure each speaker to the drywall without any extra assembly. The cam extends 1.25" deep from the mounting surface of the speaker and will accommodate a drywall thickness up to 1.25". When the cams are rotated, each extends 0.8125" beyond the 7.25" cutout width. If you will not be mounting these speakers in drywall, make sure the wall or ceiling material can safely support the weight of the speakers before installation; each speaker weighs approximately 3.4 pounds.
Paintable: The grille and flange can be painted, allowing these speakers to match any decor.

The speakers are great. Excellent sound. I have them mounted in my walls. I don't see why they couldn't be mounted in the ceiling as long as you have free access to the area you want to put them (attic, etc.). Enjoy. [ WADIYAH Dec 16, 2013 ]
do not have other speakers like yours... can not help there, but ceiling mount should be no problem [ HARVEY Dec 16, 2013 ]
I am pleased with these speakers. They do provide a good clear sound. I did have these mounted in the ceiling without any muss or fuss. I give them a thumbs up. [ WILLIAM Dec 16, 2013 ]
Thanks Tim! [ Scott Dec 16, 2013 ]
I am not sure what the rm95 sound like. I am pretty particular about my speakers. For the money I think these sound great. Plus the other reason is that I did install them in the ceiling and they look good . Just make sure if you do install them in the ceiling to cut holes the exact size otherwise you will be patching sheetrock to cover up the gap. [ TIM Dec 16, 2013 ]
Thank you Brian! [ Scott Dec 16, 2013 ]
Thanks Charles. [ Scott Dec 16, 2013 ]
I can't compare to the other speakers. But yes, these do mount easily in the ceiling. Note the info in the directions related to angles and tweeters. Mine sound great in the master bath! [ BRIAN Dec 16, 2013 ]
Don't know about your specific Polk speakers, though I replaced some variety of Polk speakers (don't recall the model) and these sound much better. About mounting them in the ceiling, I don't see why you couldn't stick them up there. [ Charles Dec 16, 2013 ]
