Polk Audio's Mobile Monitor Series subwoofers bring out superior performance from lighter materials, so you'll get the impact you want without the extra weight of a conventional system. Advanced engineering and optimized components reproduce your sound with uncompromising accuracy, for low end that is rich and clear.

The MM1040UM 10" 4-ohm subwoofer handles up to 350 watts RMS. A copper voice coil and neodymium magnet motor drives the polymer cone with exceptional efficiency. The carbon composite basket features a "wagon wheel" design that resists flexing during heavy excursion, so your sub hits solidly without distorting.

Polk designed this sub specifically for marine use. It passes rigorous salt-fog and UV testing, and sports corrosion-resistant stainless steel input terminals. The sub is suitable for free air use, so you can mount it in a bulkhead or another suitable location without the need for an enclosure. Stainless steel mounting hardware is also included.

Features

Marine Certified Woofer: This Polk MM Series woofer is built to withstand exposure to moisture, salt water, high humidity, UV rays, and a wide temperature range so they work well in a marine environment, such as a boat. They also include stainless mounting hardware for corrosion and rust resistance.

Klippel Optimized: Using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the woofer's motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.

Polymer Woofer Cone with Butyl Rubber Surrounds: The Polymer Woofer Cones and Butyl Rubber Surrounds will not break down over time and will survive the rigors of harsh marine environments.

Copper Voice Coil and Polyamide Former: The High Temperature 51mm Copper Voice Coil and Polyamide Former withstand the most rigorous use while maintaining extremely low distortion for bass punch and output.

Carbon Composite Basket: The woofer's carbon composite basket is lightweight and will not flex during music audio peaks.

Input Terminals: Stainless Steel plated heavy duty spring-post input terminals will not corrode or tarnish and accommodate speaker wire up to 10 gauge.

Preconditioning Period: Mobile Monitor subwoofers will achieve even greater performance once they are thoroughly broken in. To break in your new MM subwoofer, play 20 to 30 hours of music at moderate levels.

Enclosure Compatibility

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: Polk recommends using this woofer in a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 0.66 cu/ft.

Q
I am installing the Polk 10" sub into boat. Should I fabricate an enclosure behind speaker? Ported or sealed? optimal cu. ft. ?

Put mine under the helm seat in searay 290 sunsport and it thumps.I had no other place to put it.And it looks sweet.Good luck. And it is not in an enclosure.

You should definitely make an enclosure for it to sounds its best. Sealed box is only .65 cu. ft. -listed right there on the bottom of the description. Ported would be much larger volume and not as smooth response.

This sub is free air you can port, seal or not. It sounds great. I installed this sub and two eight inch subs in saddle bags on my 2015 Can Am F3 Spyder and man does it sound good. The bass is nice and clean. I also use a set of 6.5 Polk Audio speakers for my highs mounted in kicker tower enclosures. Just make sure you have a decent amp to give it enough power. I use the Polk Audio 1600 watts 4 channel marine amp rated at 800 RMS which is more then enough to push 8 speakers. Hope this helps.
