Overview

Our take on the Polk Audio MM571

Polk Audio continues its tradition of making brilliant-sounding speakers in stylishly designed packages — their Mobile Monitor (MM) Series speakers look great and sound even better. Each speaker utilizes an extra-strong, extra-small neodymium magnet that saves space and weight, allowing these speakers to fit into more places in more vehicles while still delivering a full sound with lots of kick. Their lightweight carbon composite frames provide strong, flex-free support for the speakers' motor assemblies.

The Polk MM571 5"x7" speakers feature honeycomb-textured woven glass fiber composite woofer cones that respond very quickly for a clean, crisp, and powerful sound. Large voice coils — over an inch in diameter — give the speaker high power-handling capability and extended reliability. 1" silk dome tweeters add a sweet high end that blends perfectly with the low notes so your music stays in harmonic balance, from the electric bass all the way on up to the cymbals.

Important Note: These Polk speakers use a low-impedance design to pull more power safely from your car stereo or amplifier. This design is compatible with virtually all factory and aftermarket stereos.

I replaced the stock Ford speakers with these. A total night and day difference. The price was very good for speakers like these with a passive cross over.

Awesome sound system

Terry from Peoria, AZ on 10/14/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Back in April 2016 I purchased the Alpine CDE-W265BT along with the Alpine 500KTP445A, Polk 107MM571 front speakers, and Polk 107MM691 rear speakers. I love this combination. Using the EQ adjustments and the fader control of the CDE-W265BT and the awesome frequency response of the Polk speakers (deep solid bass, smooth midrange, and clear crisp yet smooth highs) I have been able to cause a four speaker system sound like it has a high power sub bass included. This 4 speaker system has the same deep rich sound quality as the Alpine powered 5 speaker system (45W x 4 head unit, 200W bridged sub bass) I have in another vehicle.

Pros: I am very pleased with all of the components in this system.

Cons: None

I replaced the stock Ford speakers with these. A total night and day difference. The price was very good for speakers like these with a passive cross over.

Pros: Price, quality, fitment

Cons: Needed a little extra wiring with the crossover but that's not really a con.

Worth it.

Nice, solid speaker. Fits like it should and sounds really good so far. Was kind of a pain to locate a place for the crossover box, but they are worth the hassle.

Pros: Sound and build quality.

Cons: Finding a place for the crossover box.

These were easy to install and have a great frequency range. However i have noticed a bit of mid range distortion. But to be fair that could be my stereo or amp.

Pros: Easy installation. Great frequency response.

Cons: Slight Mid range distortion

2004 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these 5x7's in a 2004 F150 SuperCrew without any modification, the fit was perfect. I'm using these in the rear doors for rear sound fill. Its a little early to tell but so far the sound quality is very good and a huge improvement over the factory speakers. I am powering them with a Rockford amp able to push around 50 watts/channel. I cannot compare or contrast the sound to others because I did not audition any other speakers. I'm happy with the purchase and would suggest a listen to these little guys. There might be better speakers for the money.......or maybe not.

Pros: Fit, finish, quality sound

Cons: Plastic frame

I use Polk speakers all through out my house. With that said and I had no reservations about buying Polk's for my truck. I replaced my stock system which sounded good but of course it wasn't good enough, : ) ... I installed the Polk MM571 in the front and rear and what a difference, crystal clear, sound with zero distortion. I am powering them with a Fosgate Punch P400-2 amp. Very pleased with this purchase and will provide reviews on the amp and the Sony XNV-660BT head unit.

Pros: Easy install, sounds great

Cons: None so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the two front door factory speakers in my 98 F150. These speakers sound great, I'm going to get a 2nd pair to replace the back speakers. These are not just plug and play in my F150 - having the passive crossover, it took a little extra wiring but nothing major

Great sounding speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound great once you get them in. For me it took a little modification to fit in the 5x7 hole in the Mazda 3 doors (The screws were in the wrong place). Didn't realize these came with a crossover but it didn't take me long to find a spot it would fit. They hit the highs well and the mids well too for a 5X7 speaker. Overall I'm impressed.

1996 Nissan Altima
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in 1996 Nissan Altima GXE without too many problems - some custom fitting required, but these are 1 of 2 5x7 speakers crutchfield says will fit my car. Had to saw off the ears' holes in order to get to fit into the housing and also had to drill some holes in door to get the crossover (I didn't realize it came with external crossover) to sit somewhere besides inside the actual door where the elements are. Speakers sound absolutely fantastic. I have them hooked up to a JVC KW-HDR720 double-din and even though it's not amped it still sounds amazing. These speakers really kick, especially at high volume. My doors vibrate easily. The highs are amazingly clear (had to turn them down a bit on receiver) and the lows pack punch. Might get more out of your investment if they're amped, but I'm perfectly content without. Highly recommend. Side-note: Crutchfield's directions for installing speaker in passenger door was non-existent and there were additional screws in less obvious locations compared to the driver's door.

Cons:

Wow!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just had these speakers installed in my 2011 Ford Mustang GT Coupe with Shaker 500/Nav. Replaced both front and rear and was immediatly impressed with how clean and crisp the sound from these speakers are. My old speakers did not produce highs very well, now I hear so much more now. These speakers are worth it.

Cons:

The best sound ever I have heard

Mark from Foley Al. on 5/16/2011

I have them in a 97 Ford F150 front doors and on a amp it is clean even turned up and I have to 10 subs the mid bass clean and mids and high so clean as well and money you pay for them I would do it again. very happy with them

Pros:

Cons:

WOW!!

Steve from Phoenix, AZ on 3/9/2011

I've heard alot of different 5 x 7's amped and unamped and these are the best I've found so far. I'm giving them 85 watts rms each and they have fantastic midbass for a 5 x 7. They actually make my doors and mirrors rattle when they'e turned up. Also they have great clarity and crisp highs with out being harsh. Worth every penny. Just remember they have external crossovers that need to be mounted and can be difficult to do in tight spaces. One last thing is that Polks always require a short break in period before they really start thumping. Make sure you amp these before you decide you don't like them, it makes all the difference in the world. The higher the power handling of a speaker the more necessary it is to amp them in order to make them sound good.

Pros:

Cons:

Clearly better than my factory speakers

Ford Ranger Sound system upgrade

Roy G from Chuluota, Fl on 1/23/2011

1998 Ford Ranger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just completed a total system upgrade in my Ranger...consiting of the JVC receiver, 4 new Polk MM571 2 way speakers and Sound ordinance powered sub B-8P...and I have to say I am totally impressed with how solid and clean this combination sounds! I did a ton of research and picked these components based on their specs, and it really delivers. The JVC receiver amp is impressive, pleanty of punch to drive the Polks, and I love the features, HD radio is fantastic, I pod input is great and the menues are easy to navigate. The sound quality and stereo stage is so dramatically improved, I want to continue driving around listening to tunes. the Polks deliver solid highs, great mids (drums have incredible impact and punch)and decent lows. I added the sub after breaking in the Polks for two weeks.....the 8BP fits nicely behind the drivers seat and delivers rock solid bass. Do not require a larger or more powerful sub for the extended ranger cab...pleanty of sound. I do recomment using the XTC baffles for the Polks...the sound punch does improve over no baffle

Cons:

Great Speakers!!!!

David from Chesapeake,Va. on 4/28/2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these speakers in my 2006 ford mustang and I love them. I still have the factory radio and the sound quality is just outstanding!!! I also installed them in the front of my 97 F-150 and wow the difference it made in the high end sound. only thing is that with the F-150 the window mechanism kept hitting the voice wire on the speaker. So I had to GENTLY bend the tabs on the speaker so they would clear. But well worth the time.

Pros:

Cons:

Great sound

Nathan from Mattoon, IL on 12/6/2009

These speakers are pretty good with the highs and mids. They do lack some bass. Please make sure to get an amp for these speakers, I am running these on my kenwood kvt-514 and i cant listen to them above 2/3 volume because they get staticy. i would recommend running the full 90 watts to these speakers to get their full potential. Overall these speakers are great they sound like there is a concert going on in your head.

Bought these for my New 2010 Mustang GT. Replaced all four cheap speakers that came with my Shaker500 Nav System. Can not believe how much it changed the sound. Blows me away every time I hear them. Sound stage is perfect. Bass is nice and tight. Very well worth every penny and more. Fit very easy and I highly highly give them top rating. Get all four if you have this car and you wont be sorry.

Almost a five-star review...

2009 Ford Ranger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased a 2009 Ford Ranger and two pairs of these speakers for front/rear installation. All documentation from Crutchfield indicated that these speakers would fit stock in both locations, however, they did not fit the rear stock location. I had to pay a local car audio shop to modify the rear location another sixty bucks to cut the heck out of my new vehicle. I was able to install the rear speakers along with the purchased baffles and these speakers did not sound anything near the same front installed speakers. Very "tinty" and almost no bass response. Removed the baffles and there was an improvement, but not as "punchy" as the front installs. I suspect it's a space/air flow thing... I am running the original factory installed head unit. I am about to replace with an Alpine I have my eyes on and I'm sure will have an improvement to the rear speakers. Overall, I'm very pleased with these speakers, but just a little disappointed that I had to pay extra to have the rear stock locations modified.

Great Sound From A Small Speaker!

2008 Ford Escape
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 2 pair of these speakers for an 08 Ford Escape. I put them in before the new head unit and they made me wonder if I wanted to replace the head unit. The factory radio sound great after the speaker upgrade. You will need to mount an external crossover box with these speakers, comes with speakers, I just used two sided tape from 3M on my install. As good as these speakers sounded with the factory radio, they became really impressive with the new head unit (Pioneer DEH-510UB). The clarity and the bass these speakers deliver are really amazing for something as small as a 5X7.

2008 Mazda CX-9
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these for a 2008 Mazda CX-9, put set in both the front & rear doors. WOW! these brought the factory stereo to Life, these very punchy speakers so take into condieration, your doors may rattle if you have anything loose in the door pockets. These are well worth the price. I heard the Infinity's but these just offered quit a bit more low end and the highs seemed a little sharper too. The Mazda CX-9 install is tricky but if you have some skills you get these in no problems.

Features

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized Components: Using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the woofer's motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.

Woofer Cones: Woven glass composite cones feature tremendous stiffness-to-mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients and finer detail.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use butyl rubber surrounds. The airtight rubber surrounds stand up to moisture, sunlight and extreme temperatures while allowing long excursion linear motion and years of reliable use.

Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeters: The 1" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite tweeters provide clear, detailed highs.

Neodymium Magnets: The speaker's neodymium magnets offer exceptional strength to performance ratio and is extremely lightweight.

Large Diameter Voice Coils: Large diameter, 30mm voice coils increase the speaker's reliability and power handling capacity.

Carbon Composite Basket: The speaker's carbon composite basket is lightweight and will not flex during music audio peaks.

Crossover: The speaker comes supplied with two separate 2-way crossovers; one for each speaker. Each crossover input 36" lead is terminated with tinned wire, and the two 20" output leads (one for the woofer and one for the tweeter) are terminated with female quick-slides. The positive woofer lead has a 0.250" female quick-slide and the negative woofer lead has a 0.187" female quick-slide. The positive tweeter lead has a 0.187" female quick-slide and the negative tweeter lead has a 0.110" female quick-slide. These quick-slides connect directly to the woofer and tweeter terminals on each speaker. The separate 2-way crossover network sends the appropriate frequencies to each driver for cleaner sound and better imaging. Dimensions: width = 3.515", height = 1.015", depth = 2.645"

Mounting: This speaker can be used in both 5x7 and 6x8 applications. The speaker's integrated mounting ring allows the speaker to be mounted in a 5x7 or 6x8 cutout.

Note: This speaker does not come supplied with grilles. You will need to use your factory grilles.

Marine Certified Woofer: Polk MM Series speakers are built to withstand exposure to moisture and UV rays, so they work well in boats and cars. They also include stainless mounting hardware for corrosion and rust resistance.

We would need your complete vehicle information (Year, cab size, trim package, etc.) to be sure, but, when available, we'll provide any mounting brackets and/or factory connector harnesses, free of charge, with your purchase of any recommended speakers for each location. You should see them added to your online shopping cart, automatically, when you add a recommended pair of speakers to your cart. I hope that helps!
