Polk Audio engineers the MMC Series speakers for championship performance — legendary Italian design firm MOMO makes them look great! These upper-echelon coaxial speakers deliver component speaker sound quality in an easy-to-install, stylish package.

The Polk/MOMO MMC525 5-1/4" speaker features a lacquered carbon-fiber woofer that provides the ideal balance of low weight and high rigidity. The woofer's Kapton voice coil former and flat Nomex spider contribute to high power handling capability. An airtight rubber surround stands up to humidity and heat for long-term reliability. The smooth-sounding 1" silk/polymer dome tweeter swivels up to 15° for direct, detailed imaging.

The vented cast-aluminum basket provides a totally non-resonant platform, so speaker output is uncolored. A high-quality outboard 2-way crossover ensures that each driver sees only the frequencies it was designed to reproduce. Dual nickel-plated terminals are provided for amplifying the woofer and tweeter separately. The speaker's low-profile and shallow depth allow easy installation in most vehicles. And you don't have to limit these speakers to your car — they've passed tough environmental testing that certifies them for marine use as well. Rugged ABS grilles designed by MOMO are included.

Replaced the 5.25's that came in my Bayliner. Driven by an Xplod Sony CDX-M30 head unit with no additional amp. Classic rock and Country both sound clean and crisp. Well worth the money!!!

These sound great in my Jeep roll bar powered by an MTX Thunder amp along with the 4x6 Momos in the dash. The price is awesome too. About 30% cheaper here than anywhere else. Clear, loud and tight.

Great Speakers

I installed 4 of these in my Pontoon. They sound great! Easy to install (my boat made it sort of difficult). They will distort once you pass a certain point of volume, but overall they are very clear and have average bass response. I will probably put bass blockers on them since I just put in a 10' subwoofer, but it is not a necessity. Put these in a car and I cannot imagine how great they will sound. Sort of pricey, but well worth the money.

Love them with all my heart. Took just minutes to install in Soundbar of Jeep Wrangler. Of course the Wrangler may be the most acoustically challenged vehicle anywhere -- these speakers provide the great sound with my Pioneer Head Unit.

Excellent Buy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers to replace the old Boss speakers in my cooler radio. I built this cooler last year (to float with us on tubing trips)with a Pyle 200 watt marine head unit with wired remote(mounted on the outside), a lawnmower battery, a 5 watt solar panel, and a voltmeter. It sounded ok with the Boss speakers, but at higher volumes it had some distortion. When I decided to replace the speakers, I had a hard time trying to figure out what to buy. There aren't a lot of marine speakers out there in a 5 1/4", not that are worth buying, and I didn't want to have to buy another pair next summer. The difference the Polk Momo's made is amazing, I highly recommend these to anyone needing 5 1/4" speakers for a car or boat. The crossovers separate the sound very well, and sealed in the cooler they actually have more bass than expected. An EXCELLENT BUY!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are by far the best-sounding pair I've ever owned. Impressive to look at, impressive to hold, and most importantly, impressive to hear. It is amazing how much sound comes out of them. No matter what type of music you listen to, they're fantastic. Their bass response could be a little better, but they aren't subwoofers. I have them in small, ported boxes, at least until I find to install them in my car. 20 watts RMS is adequate, an extra amp isn't really required. Fantastic, sturdy speakers, I would recommend them to anyone.

BEST SPEAKERS FOR HD ELECTRAGLIDES

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

INSTALLED THESE SPEAKERS AFTER USING THE db525'S IN MY 05 ELECTRAGLIDE STANDARD, VERY NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE, VERY GOOD OUTPUT, IT TAKES A LOT OF SOUND TO OVERCOME 70MPH AND STILL HEAR THE MUSIC, THESE ARE PROBABLY THE BEST ON THE MARKET FOR THIS PURPOSE. THE SPEAKER BRACKETS HAD TO BE MODIFIED, BEST DONE WITH A ROUTER, AND THE TWEETER MOUNT PUSHES THE GRILL OUT JUST A LITTLE BIT BUT IT IS NOT NOTICABLE NOR IS IT IN CONTACT WITH THE TWEETER ITSELF. WORKS GREAT FOR ME, AND WOULD RECOMEND THIS MOD. TO ANYONE WANTING TO GET MORE BANG OUT OF THE HD RADIO, I AM NOT RUNNING AN HD RADIO, BUT THE HD SHOULD PUSH THEM.

i have just purchased these speakers they replaced a set of pioneer 5 1/4's in front door and right away i could tell the differnce. i have them running off of a alpine mrv-f307 rated at 30x4 underrated gain only halfway along with pioneer 6x9's in rear deck together the system is great. the bass and highs that they reproduce are awsome. compared them with infinity kappa 52.7i model the polks were the best overall.

Features

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Marine Certified: Polk/MOMO Series speakers are built to withstand exposure to moisture and UV rays, so they work well in boats and cars.

Lacquered Carbon-fiber Woofers: The lacquered carbon-fiber cones provide the ideal balance of stiffness and low mass for the clearest, most detailed midrange performance, and lowest distortion, of any speaker in its class.

Rubber Surrounds: The airtight rubber surrounds stand up to moisture, sunlight and extreme temperatures while allowing long excursion linear motion and years of reliable use.

1" Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeters:  The 1" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite tweeters provide clear, detailed highs. The 15-degree swivel tweeter housings deliver direct, detailed imaging; instantly adjustable through the grille.

Cast Aluminum Baskets: Each speaker has a channel-vented, acoustically inert cast aluminum basket for superior stiffness and better heat dissipation.

1" Kapton Voice Coils and Formers: Laser-based, Klippel-optimized, channel-vented 2-Layer 1" Kapton voice coils and formers offer high heat dissipation and extreme power handling.

NOMEX Spiders: The strong, fire-retardant flat NOMEX spiders allow extended linear motion while providing highly reliable mechanical and thermal stability.

Dual Nickel-plated Terminals: Each speaker has dual nickel-plated terminals for component-like connections.

ABS Magnet Boots: Each speaker features a waterproof, anti-resonant ABS magnet boot, which is removable for installation flexibility. With the magnet boots installed, each speaker has the following dimensions:

  • Magnet Diameter: 3.033"
  • Depth as top: 2.624"
  • Depth as bottom: 2.765"

Crossovers: The 2-way crossovers have big components for better dynamic impact and transparency. Each crossover has the following dimensions: L=4.698", W=2.426", H=1.033".

Crossover Connections: Each crossover input lead is terminated with tinned wire, and the two output leads (one for the woofer and one for the tweeter) are terminated with female quick-slides. The positive woofer lead has a 0.250" female quick-slide and the negative woofer lead has a 0.187" female quick-slide. The positive tweeter lead has a 0.187" female quick-slide and the negative tweeter lead has a 0.110" female quick-slide. These quick-slides connect directly to the woofer and tweeter terminals on each speaker.

Specifications Note

ABS Magnet Boots: Each speaker comes with an ABS magnet boot installed, however, the Crutchfield database measurements were taken with the magnet boots removed. With the magnet boots installed, each speaker has the following dimensions:

  • Magnet Diameter: 3.033"
  • Depth as top: 2.624"
  • Depth as bottom: 2.765"
