Powerfully deep bass and crisp, soaring highs; if that's the dynamic combination you're looking for from a serious component system then look no further. The Polk/MOMO MMC5250 meets your auditory expectations, while sporting a sleek formula-car racing look.

Revel in the distinct low mids and penetrating bass produced by the woven carbon fiber woofers, and bask in the detailed upper mids and highs delivered by liquid-cooled silk/polymer composite dome tweeters. The tweeter's neodymium magnet saves precious space without compromising sound quality — and you can swivel the tweeter up to 15° for exceptional imaging.

The woofer's cast aluminum basket eliminates disturbing resonance. Durable rubber surrounds keep your system rockin' for years to come. And you don't have to limit these speakers to your car — they've passed tough environmental testing that certifies them for marine use as well.

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these because the price was right; on sale for less than half the original retail price. Installing the woofer and tweeter was easy. Trying to find a place to mount the bulky and not so easily accessible crossover was a little more time consuming. Frequency response on the high end will make all of the dogs in the neighborhood perk up and come looking for you. The lows/mids sound good. I have my amplifier that feeds them set to High Pass since my subwoofer does all of the low end work. Over all the speakers sound very good and are pleasant to listen to.

This component set is awesome. It was an easy install and extremely loud system. If you are looking for a component set polk is the way to go.

These speakers rock!!! Great mid bass, and a very smooth tweeter!! I have the 6 1/2 version and what a deal I got from crutchfeild!! I have 75 watts pumpin each component and it sounds flawless. I love that the high are not to harsh, however I have the crossover set to -3 setting. I highly recomend these especially for the price. Think no more just buy!!!!

Very clear

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these Polks to replace my stock front speakers in my 2004 Kia Rio Sedan. I have 180x2 at them and they are continuing to break in. They are becoming increasingly LOUD and clear at the same time. It sounds like I am at a concert when I turn it up. The first thing I noticed is the tweeters are very detailed high in the freq. range, and the whole set is crisp. The tweeters are in your face and a bit too loud even when I EQ it way down with -6db on the crossover. I imagine if I mount the tweeters on-axis (closer to the woofer), they will calm down a bit. I have them just sitting on top of my dash right now and the window reflections make them scream. Mid bass is crisp and pretty good, but I am expecting more once I deaden my doors. Overall a great speaker for the price, and I dont think you will be disappointed in this purchase, or even the new MMs, which I hear are very similar. Without buying a really expensive set, or larger (6.5, 7, or 8") you really cant top this smooth natural sound that can scream if you need them to. With my 12" woofer in back, The sound approaches my Sony tower speakers I have at home in clarity, and that set has a 1.5" cone tweeter, 3" midrange, 12" woofer. The Carbon Fiber cones are very very nice on the woofers and are rugged!

These speakers sound great with my Alpine MRP-F300 amp. These are some nice speakers nice tight bass and I bought the Polk Audio MOMO series 6"x9" speakers for the rear as well. Thank you so much crutchfield. The only problem I had was that the flush mount brackets were abused and used, but I called crutchfield and they sent out the brackets and they were here in 2 days. Great shipping.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the front of my Paseo. They are powered by a Profile AP740 amp. They sound great. The problem is I can't hear any noticeable improvement over the Kicker KS speakers I used to have. So three times the price for the same sound? Also, the covers for the crossovers are pathetic. They won't stay on. So good speaker, shame about the price.

These speakers made my 2001 Mustang sound so much better. The front speakers now are amazing with every kind of music I have listened to. Vocals are great as is classical music. I don't have much to compare them to but to me they sound great and I definitely recommend them. This is coming from the stock stereo and I can't wait to hear them after I add an amp. Great design too. Crutchfield was very helpful and I would order from them again.

Great Front Speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are mounted in the front doors of my 98 Acura CL and they
sound amazing. They are powered by an Alpine 9884 through a Rockford
Fosgate P450.4 pushing 98 watts rms. The tweeters were easy to mount
and look factory sitting right in the door. I have my crossovers in my trunk,
since I will be doing a completely custom install. These speakers are great
for the highs of any music, from hardcore rock to punk and everything in
between. I have a set of the 6.5's in the rear deck, and those aren't as
good as these. Would've been easy to hook up except for my custom
install. If you're using stock wiring, these would be a sinch, except for the
spacers required to keep them from hitting the windows. Other than that,
things went pretty smooth, except for the wiring as I have already
mentioned. Overall, these are great speakers and I absolutely love them.
I've been pushing them pretty hard now for a week plus, and they take
everything my Rockford can throw at them (gain is about 2/3 up, set at a
head unit volume of 30 before these things started distorting).

Wow ! (Installed in a 2003 Tacoma)

Written By frank, New Hampshire on Friday, June 06, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Amazingly clear. Like being at the concert. I was really blown away. And these are only 5 1/4 " ! My head unit (Pioneer DEH 5600) goes to 63 (volume) and I get to 58 until I get noticable distortion with most songs. Powered by a Blaupunkt THA275 Amplifier 75W x 2 : 200W x 1 4 Ohm Car Amplifier and filled with a 6 1/2" Bazooka sub.

The only bad part is now I have to remove my just installed Pioneers from the rear (again). The Polks blow them away and make them sound bad. I will replace them with some MMC570's to get solid fill. In fact I faded the rears competely out for now.

Easy install (some MINOR mods like enlarging the tweeter hole very slightly). A buddy heard them for the first time today. He just looked at me and said, "are you serious ??, wow, these things are CLEAR!". I would strongly reecomend an amp as these like and can clearly handle power. Super clear and crisp mids and drum symbols ..... Acoustic music will blow you away cranked up. Handles heavy bass well but they are not really designed for that and it gets obvious on HIGH volume.. get a decent sub to do that.

I am going to be deaf shortly ! I can't drive around with it low. The louder it gets the more you hear (backround vocals, etc) It's pretty cool..... A MUST....

upgraded Harley audio

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these to upgrade the sound system on my 07 Street Glide. I installed 6 drivers and 4 tweeters and the sound is FANTASTIC! Using the Sony Xplod 4 channel amp, the bass is very good for a small driver and the overall clarity is amazing at incredible VOLUME! This is a very affordable way to upgrade Harley audio without breaking the bank. I could not be happier with the system or the service I have received from Crutchfield. K

Great Speaker

Written By David, Big Island on Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are sweet!! These speakers replaced 5x7 Alpine type "S" components, and wow, what a difference. I am powering the Polk's with Rockford 400.2 amp sending 100 watts rms (formally powering the Alpines) and the sound is incredibe. Can't believe 5.25 inch speakers can sound so full, and loud.

Even though the Polk's are a higher end then the Alpine's my Dad's db series of Polk powered by his OEM deck sounded fuller and richer than my Alpine's being powered by an amp. I kept playing with my EQ, but couldn't get the fullness I was looking for. Never had to do any major EQ adjustments to get fullness out of the Polk's, just small tweaks to suit my taste. Also, these speakers were much easier to install than the Alpine's because Polk put quick connects between the crossover and the tweeters. Polk knows what there doing, and there speakers are amazing. Buy Polk!

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Marine Certified Woofers: Polk/MOMO Series speakers are built to withstand exposure to moisture and UV rays, so they work well in boats and cars.

Lacquered Carbon-fiber Woofers: The lacquered carbon-fiber cones provide the ideal balance of stiffness and low mass for the clearest, most detailed midrange performance, and lowest distortion, of any speaker in its class.

Rubber Surrounds: The airtight rubber surrounds stand up to moisture, sunlight and extreme temperatures while allowing long excursion linear motion and years of reliable use.

Cast Aluminum Baskets: Each speaker has a channel-vented, acoustically inert cast aluminum basket for superior stiffness and better heat dissipation.

1" Kapton Voice Coils and Formers: Laser-based, Klippel-optimized, channel-vented 2-Layer 1" Kapton voice coils and formers offer high heat dissipation and extreme power handling.

NOMEX Spiders: The strong, fire-retardant flat NOMEX spiders allow extended linear motion while providing highly reliable mechanical and thermal stability.

ABS Magnet Boots: Each woofer features a waterproof, anti-resonant ABS magnet boot, which is removable for installation flexibility. With the magnet boots installed, each speaker has the following dimensions:

  • Magnet Diameter: 3.045"
  • Depth as top: 2.562"
  • Depth as bottom: 2.698"

Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeters: The 1" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite tweeters provide clear, detailed highs.

Marine Certified Tweeters: Polk/MOMO Series speakers are built to withstand exposure to moisture and UV rays, so they work well in boats and cars.

Mounting: The supplied mounting cups allow you to surface- or flush-mount the tweeters. In both mounting configurations, the tweeters can be pivoted to "aim" their output for the best high frequency response and soundstaging.

Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:

  Surface Mount Flush Mount
Mounting Height 1.156" 0.246"
Depth 0.645" (screw depth) 1.107"
Frame Diameter 2.059" 2.505"
Cutout Diameter   N/A 2.157"

2-way Crossovers: The included crossovers include a 12 dB/octave, 2750 Hz high-pass filter for the tweeters and a 12 dB/octave, 2750 Hz low-pass filter for the woofers.

Bi-amp Inputs: The crossovers allow each woofer and tweeter to be powered by separate channels of amplification. A switch on each crossover lets you choose Single input or Dual input mode. In Single input mode, one channel of amplification is used to power the woofer and tweeter together. In Dual input mode, separate channels of amplification are used to power the woofer and tweeter.

Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each crossover has a 3-position switch that allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference. The switches may be set to "-6 dB", "-3 dB" or "0 dB".

Crossover Mounting: There are 2 mounting holes in the base of each crossover; screws to mount the crossovers are not supplied. The crossovers are not weather proof, so they should not be mounted in locations, such as door panels, that will expose them to direct contact with water.

Crossover Terminals: The crossover terminals are nickel-plated.
