Polk Audio engineers the MMC Series speakers for championship performance — legendary Italian design firm MOMO makes them look great! These upper-echelon coaxial speakers deliver component speaker sound quality in an easy-to-install, stylish package.

The Polk/MOMO MMC650 6-1/2" speaker features a lacquered carbon-fiber woofer that provides the ideal balance of low weight and high rigidity. The woofer's Kapton voice coil former and flat Nomex spider contribute to high power handling capability. An airtight rubber surround stands up to humidity and heat for long-term reliability. The smooth-sounding 1" silk/polymer dome tweeter swivels up to 15° for direct, detailed imaging.

The vented cast-aluminum basket provides a totally non-resonant platform, so speaker output is uncolored. A high-quality outboard 2-way crossover ensures that each driver sees only the frequencies it was designed to reproduce. Dual nickel-plated terminals are provided for amplifying the woofer and tweeter separately. The speaker's low profile and shallow depth allow easy installation in most vehicles. And you don't have to limit these speakers to your car — they've passed tough environmental testing that certifies them for marine use as well. Rugged ABS grilles (based on MOMO designs) are included.

Chevy Rear Doors

Written By Chevy Will, Richmond,VA on Thursday, January 19, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Polk momo's are the greatest, fitted in my Chevy Suburban rear doors, Old Polk DX's driver, the one's made with Kevlar in front, Excelon 815 head unit with factory 6 channel 20X5 1X25 low power amp sounds awesome.

Pros: MOMO's sounds great at all volumes. Crutchfield is the best electronics store to buy through, you get all you need to install, all the support for life.

Cons: There are none. maybe one, they arn't selling them any longer and i don't know how i was so lucky.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound pretty good, but were a bit of a hassle to install. They were supposed to fit my truck, but I ended up having to drill out the door panel in order to line up the screw holes. In addition my order came with wire harnesses that were supposed to fit my truck's, but didn't...so I wound up having to splice what I already had. All in all, an easy one hour job quickly turned into two and a half or three hours. I also had to call support and get the manufacture's speaker wire color codes...and they wound up being different from what support told me. Of all the purchases I've made with Crutchfield, I'd have to say that this was the only one I was somewhat disappointed with. The rest have all been purchases with very precise directions.

Used in Tower Speakers on the Boat

I needed to upgrade the speakers on my tower, but I did not want to spend a ton. These sound so much better than what I had. They look great too.

Great Product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just placed 4 of these in my 2000 Mastecraft Prostar 195. Significantly better than the blown out/falling apart Clarions that came with the boat. The are not the UM rated marine speakers but they are marine certified. They have a 3 year warranty and Polk Audio is a good product, hopefully they will last longer than the warranty. The sound is extremely clean, bass is good for a 6.5 inch speaker but if you really like alot of bass a sub would be necessary. If my tower speakers go anytime soon, I will probably replace them too with this product. Looking forward to alot of good music days on the water.

Great Sound Cheap Price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed a pair of these in some custom made kick panels in a 71 Chevelle and they sound great. running off of a 5 channel Boston amp. You cant find a better speaker for the price. Crystal clear sound and tight bass, you cant ask for much more out of a 6 1/2.

2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Rockin Again

Written By James, Benton Arkansas on Sunday, February 01, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These Speakers are the best you will get for the money and with the spacer rings it is a great fit for the Sierra model although they say the speaker wont fit, just center the spacer rings over the existing opening then mount speaker and angle the tweeter and leave the factory tweeter disconnected but in place. It is a little hard to get the Door panel all the way back down but it will go on for a tight rattle free fit, I mounted the crossovers in a open area just below the speakers. The factory speakers foam ring was completely gone on one side and rattling on the other side so needless to say a great improvement even with the factory head unit. The quality is what you expect from Polk. The service and documentation is what you expect from Crutchfield, but it will fit. Nuff Said

A perfectly Bright speaker

Written By oejeffrey, West Virginia on Thursday, January 29, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers to match up with the Polk MOMO Component speakers I have in the front of my Honda pilot. I personally like a very BRIGHT speaker and these deliver. They match perfectly with the components as they are basically the same set up, the speakers are the same as the components but the crossover differs slightly as you are not able to choose a brightness level with these.

These speakers are in need of a break in period and the closer you get to the break in period the harder you can push them without distorion.

Agian if you like a very bright speaker these are for you.

Audiophile Speakers for this price in 2007 Highlander Fits!

Written By shovel99, Atlanta on Saturday, January 24, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are audiophile quality carbon fiber woofers and silk dome tweeters... and sound fantastic..would be a steal at $150 and are to die for at this price. Great bass for a 6.5 all the way down to actual tested 60hz and out to 6k for the carbon woofer... the very finest material you can make an audiophile woofer from. $30,000 speakers use carbon fiber midwoofs. These fit my 2007 Toyo Highlander, advisor corrected the .03 inch "too high" from Crutchfield's computer. If you are not handy, use Crutchfield's Installcard, which for the price bargain you can get hooked up to an excellent installer. I chose a local shop in Atlanta, and they were top flight, to install a sony in dash receiver, and to install inside and outside Dynamat door kits on all 4 doors, a really bruising job if you do it yourself. Labor for the door installs was $125 per pair, and again worth it. Deadening the doors was absolutely unreal... probably cut the road noise in half. Do not miss this sale... get yours now!!!!

amazing quality

Written By nick, waco,tx on Tuesday, January 13, 2009

these are by far the best speakers someone can buy for the price. They are components mounted in coaxil with a pivoting silk tweeter.
I put these in my 1986 jeep cherokee. I had to do a little cutting, because my holes in my sound deadend doors are only for 5.25, but it was well worth it. They have great bass midbass, and incredible highs. If you buy these they will not let you down. Ohh yahh im also running these off of the alpine f250, which is also incredible.

No better speaker for your dollar

Written By ray, Denver on Sunday, January 04, 2009

These are in my door of my Nissan Frontier. These, along with a pair of 6 x 9 momos in the back boxes, are superior to any speakers you can purchase at under 200$. The crossovers are simple to install and ensure your music will not distort at high volume. Although best if powered by external amps, they will still sound better than any non-component speaker system you hook up to your head unit. ZERO distortion at high volumes.

Written By Paul, Dartmouth, MA on Monday, December 29, 2008

Great speakers! Some of the cleanest sound I've ever heard. I have 6 of these (3 sets) total paired with three 2-channel Rockford Fosgate Punch P325.2 amps. A Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X492 is pushing sound to these amps. Great combination overall.

Using a decibel meter, I measured this system's peak at 111 db but it generally hangs out around 107 db. This is the loudest you can get out of these speakers without hearing any distortion.

I will recommend these speakers to anyone. If you like bass though, make sure you get a subwoofer.

Polk/MOMO MMC650

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers for the price. They went into the sound pods in my '06 Jeep Rubicon. The speakers they replaced were significantly smaller, so the pods needed just a little bit of trimming. The crossovers fit inside the pods outboard of the speakers with no interference. I slathered the back of them with hot glue to keep them secured. In standard installations it wouldn't be an issue, but the included allen head screws were not long enough because of the recessed surface the stock speakers were mounted to. Simple enough to buy new screws, but it delayed my installation by a day.

Highly recommended for the application!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speaker. I just purchased a set of these speakers for my Searay boat to replace Clarions. The polks sound great. Hope they can outlast the clarions. Clarions could not take the heat & moisture and they were marine speakers. With the polks having the carbon fiber cone they should last. I will be buying another set to complete my exterior speaker replacement.

Kick'n Sound

Written By Tom, Alexandria, KY on Saturday, August 02, 2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these to replace stock Clarion speakers in my boat, which into the third season were literally falling apart. After replacing only the tower speakers I turned them on and they could be heard over the Clarion speakers while sitting in front of the Clarions! As I replaced each of the four pairs of speakers I fired them up to check operation, and wow, what a difference. The clarity and frequency response is beyond compare with the Clarions. Running a Clarion M475 head unit and two Clarion amps the sound kicks! I highly recommend these speakers as a must buy. As a matter of fact I am telling all of my boating friends that they need to upgrade to these baby's. Can't wait to get them to the water to see how they perform. I am sure that I won't be dissapointed.

Best speakers I've heard in a while

Written By Me, Chicago, IL on Thursday, July 24, 2008

I put these speakers in my 07 Speedster boat in the bow section and replaced the rear clarions as well. They are powered by a stock Clarion 475 head unit. All I can say is WOW. I will be installing the JL sub this weekend but it almost sounds as if it's already in. The bass sounds clear and undistorted while the tweeters are crystal clear. Very laud and precise driver. I'm sure it's mostly due to the inline crossover included but POLK really impressed me with this one. I would absolutely purchase these again.

Written By JESUS, gettysburg,pa on Tuesday, July 22, 2008

I purchased this set for my 07 electra gluide standard. They do a decent job for the money. I only found four little flaws. The first one is that the tweeter pushes out the original fairing grill a little. It's not a big deal most people can't even tell. The second is that you do have to cut the original harley plugs in order to connect the crossover. I think it's funny because Harley gives you about four diffrent plugs to choose from. The third is that you have bend the fairing support in order to make room for the bigger magnet of the speaker. Finally they start to get distorted at about 85 mph if your rinding in a pack. Not too many speaker can hold up to that kind of use. I would recommend also installing the foam baffles. The baffles give you a slightly better sound.I personally think they are great for the money.

Buy these speakers !

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these in the spring for my 30 ft SeaRay Sundancer.
After using them all summer I thought I could give a more objective review. They are AWESOME ! I run a Clarion 180 watt marine amp to these and the sound
is unbelievable. Not just volume, the clarity is over the top. We listen to all music genre's and everything sounds good. They are holding up VERY well to the elements as well. Don't hesitate for a second on getting these for a boat. Great job Polk and MOMO styling is awesome!

Home run front speakers!

Written By Anthony, Indianapolis on Friday, October 13, 2006

Very nice. Suprising clarity of bass and midrange, and of course the highs are impressive. Powered from a Pioneer deh-5800 alone these really push the envelope of sound quality.

Normally it takes a good 6x9 (I paired these with the 6x9 MOMO's) to get a full sound range in my experience, but not these. I've never heard fronts with such range and tone, and separation. Previously I had used the high end Pioneers for fronts in my last two vehicles, and considered those the gold standard for comparison.. but not anymore!

I had these installed professionally, and the tech took the time to separate the tweeter and essentially turn these into component speakers (I have a 2004 grand prix that came with a factory component location) so that certainly helps.

paired with a new head unit, I don't think anyone could possibly be displeased with the sound these polks create. thanks crutchfield!

Written By Wrangler90, South San Francisco Bay, California on Thursday, June 01, 2006

As I said, WOW. These speakers are amazing. Slamming these wonders into my Wrangler definitely gives it some flash. MOMO did a great job at making these speakers look rock solid, almost bullet-proof. There is now some incredible mids and even a big hint of bass in my system. The tweeters are awesome, giving you just the right balance to your entire system and as one guy said earlier, they are definitly not fatiguing. Of course for me they are not fatiguing because my car lacks a roof so most of my sound escapes anyway but with the right amp setup these speakers will fill your car, and in my case, the surrounding area with great sounding music. A++ for these.

The perfect speakers!!!!!!

Written By big daddy, Moscow, ID on Thursday, April 13, 2006

If you are looking for high-performance speakers that sound and look great then look no further. I added these to my toyota pickup after I blew my clarions and i'll never go back. These speakers have extremely high-quality sound and have really cool racing style to them! I can't believe how crisp and clear the sound is! Even when you blast your ears out on these babies they still sound real clear. The price is well worth it, trust me!

The Polk MOMO's are the most attractive speakers I have ever seen. Popping them in my rear deck have given my car alot of curb appeal. Not only do they look good, but they'll last a lifetime. I was amazed by their tough construction. When I had thse in my Fast-Furious wannabe 94 Altima I powered them with a cheap Clarion deck and distorted them at max volume all the time because I didn't know any better. When I grew up and decided to hide them underneath the factory grilles in my new car, the idiot installer dropped them in the mud. Now amped to an MTX Thunder pushing around 100 watts RMS a channel, they still sound great. I would compare the sound to heavily powered arrays in an arena. They sound big, but more importantly, they sound clear. Theres no distortion, they can handle a wide frequency range, and they have the clearest mids I've ever heard in a car speaker. The tweeters aren't overpowering and definately are not fatigueing.

Great Speakers for the price

Written By Will, Flemington, NJ on Friday, April 08, 2005

I bought the speakers after I blew my infinity 6002i speakers. I put them in the rear of my 95 Maxima. They sound amazing. I'm not currently amplifying them, and they still sound amazing, I've had people in the back tell me that they sound too loud sometimes and still sound ultra clear. I'm going to be aplifying them with a Pioneer amp and that will also amplify my Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 in the front. These are an excellant alternative to a component system

Written By Derek, Ephrata, PA on Thursday, February 10, 2005

These things are amazing!!. The highs are so incredibly crisp, and the lows are also great for only being 6.5" speakers. These are the best pair of coaxial speakers that i have ever heard. They are alos well worth the $170. Polk has obviously wanted these to last a long time, with a huge basket, rubber surrounds, and the carbon fiber woofer. They look sweet too! I have one complaint though; the crossovers are not much to look at. Also, make sure you have an amp to power them so that you can get the most out of these massive work horses.

best bang for buck

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent construction, outstanding performance for a 2-way speaker. The fact that the tweets are not covered by the mid grill helps attenuation. This is an outstanding design point helping this product perform more like a component set. I usually go with $800 BAs, the performance of these Polks was a pleasant surprise!
Accurate and precise, very good very good, I'm buying another set!

Specifications Note

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Marine Certified: Polk/MOMO Series speakers are built to withstand exposure to moisture and UV rays, so they work well in boats and cars.

Lacquered Carbon-fiber Woofers: The lacquered carbon-fiber cones provide the ideal balance of stiffness and low mass for the clearest, most detailed midrange performance, and lowest distortion, of any speaker in its class.

Rubber Surrounds: The airtight rubber surrounds stand up to moisture, sunlight and extreme temperatures while allowing long excursion linear motion and years of reliable use.

1" Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeters:  The 1" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite tweeters provide clear, detailed highs. The 15-degree swivel tweeter housings deliver direct, detailed imaging; instantly adjustable through the grille.

Cast Aluminum Baskets: Each speaker has a channel-vented, acoustically inert cast aluminum basket for superior stiffness and better heat dissipation.

1" Kapton Voice Coils and Formers: Laser-based, Klippel-optimized, channel-vented 2-Layer 1" Kapton voice coils and formers offer high heat dissipation and extreme power handling.

NOMEX Spiders: The strong, fire-retardant flat NOMEX spiders allow extended linear motion while providing highly reliable mechanical and thermal stability.

Dual Nickel-plated Terminals: Each speaker has dual nickel-plated terminals for component-like connections.

ABS Magnet Boots: Each speaker features a waterproof, anti-resonant ABS magnet boot, which is removable for installation flexibility. With the magnet boots installed, each speaker has the following dimensions:

  • Magnet Diameter: 3.682"
  • Depth as top: 2.657"

Crossovers: The 2-way crossovers have big components for better dynamic impact and transparency. Each crossover has the following dimensions: L=4.772", W=2.426", H=1.033".

Crossover Connections: Each crossover input lead is terminated with tinned wire, and the two output leads (one for the woofer and one for the tweeter) are terminated with female quick-slides. The positive woofer lead has a 0.250" female quick-slide and the negative woofer lead has a 0.187" female quick-slide. The positive tweeter lead has a 0.187" female quick-slide and the negative tweeter lead has a 0.110" female quick-slide. These quick-slides connect directly to the woofer and tweeter terminals on each speaker.

ABS Spacer Rings: In many Honda Accords and Civics, the supplied ABS spacer rings can be used to replace the factory mounting cups. Also, the rings can be used to fit the MMC650 speakers in a variety of import and domestic vehicles that accept 6-1/2" speakers, but have shallow mounting locations; the rings do not have a standard bolt pattern, so you may have to drill new mounting holes to use them in your vehicle. When used with the spacer rings, the speakers have the following dimensions:

Vehicle Fit:

  • Top Mount Depth (with magnet boot removed): 1.630"
  • Mounting Height: 1.720"
  • Flange Height: 0.960"

Basket Dimensions:

  • Cutout Diameter: 5.041"
  • Frame Width: 6.311"
  • Frame Length: 6.311"

Bolt Pattern:

  • Number of Holes: 4
  • Perimeter 1: 3.330"
  • Perimeter 2: 5.360"
  • Diagonal 1: 6.725"
  • Diagonal 2: 6.725"

Specifications Note

ABS Magnet Boots: Each speaker comes with an ABS magnet boot installed, however, the Crutchfield database measurements were taken with the magnet boots removed. With the magnet boots installed, each speaker has the following dimensions:

  • Magnet Diameter: 3.682"
  • Depth as top: 2.657"
