These pre-construction brackets are designed to hold either Polk's 265RT, 265-LS or LC265i in-wall speaker. Use the included wings to attach the bracket to wall studs before the drywall goes up. Polk provides brackets, gaskets, and all the hardware you'll need to do a quick and easy installation.

Helpful, but cheaply made

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First, don't use the screws that come with the kit. I sheared off three just trying to screw into a stud. Second, the plastic used on these brackets is very brittle - the first strap I tried inserting into bracket snapped. Lastly, simply mounting to a stud to the left and right of the bracket isn't strong enough, as the straps are very flimsy. I ended up adding braces above and below the bracket to mount additional straps. Nice to have for aiding in drywall installation, but very overpriced for what you get.

Would not have installed without it!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would not have installed the speakers without these mounting brackets. The speakers have clamps that turn and apply pressure to the rear side of the wall pulling the speaker tight to the outside of the drywall. These brackets stop the speaker clamp from simply crushing the drywall and rendering the wall useless to holding the speaker in firmly. They could mount a little better to the studs before drywall is put in. They stayed in place and the drywall installers knew exactly where to cutout and easily cutout around the mounting brackets with their rotary drywall cutting tool.

Pros: Keep speakers firming mounted. Help cut drywall exactly to size.

Cons: None

1 question already asked

If your drywall is already up, these brackets are useless for you. Just cut out holes in the drywall using the guide that comes with the speaker and install. [ Seth  Mar 04, 2015 ]
No. These brackets do not offer support. The drywall is the support. These are used so the the drywall installer knows where the cut outs will be. [ ROBERT  Mar 04, 2015 ]
I am not sure if u really need them, if the dry wall is already up. in my observation they do not give any support. It is a correct guide for the opening to be made. [ SIVA  Mar 04, 2015 ]
No. the only reason for the brackets is for the drywall installers to leave a hole in the wall where you want your speakers to be installed. The brackets provide no additional support outside of what the drywall does. Just make sure you have allowed enough room between studs to fit your speakers before you cut your holes. you should have a template for each of your speakers to do this. The brackets speed up installation in new construction tremendously and are a great product if you were able to purchase prior to drywall installation. [ James  Mar 03, 2015 ]
Tyler, up front, I'm not the expert on the use of these brackets. I wound up not using mine as I had some custom wall-mounted enclosures made from 3/4 MDF. These bracket are designed to be mounted between studs and allow you to precisely locate their placement before mounting the speakers. Also, these brackets function as mounting reinforcements for your speakers; your Polks are quite heavy and I would not recommend mounting them directly to sheetrock (although this is possible). Unless you can figure out some way to strengthen the sheetrock before mounting your Polks, I would suspect your best bet would be to take down some sheetrock, mount your brackets and re-rock. [ STANLEY D  Mar 03, 2015 ]
It's no problem! [ MICHAEL  Mar 03, 2015 ]
Tyler These brackets really only help the drywall installer locate exactly where you wish the speakers to be installed. Once the drywall is up they are not needed. I don't believe they offer any added support. the drywall is all that's needed. [ Charles C.  Mar 03, 2015 ]
You wouldn't really need to use these if the drywall is up already. These are more of a "placeholder" for new construction. [ jeffrey  Mar 03, 2015 ]
I would have to say no. The side braces are to be attached to the vertical studs. Drywall is then placed over the side braces and bracket. You then cut the drywall to fit the bracket. [ DAVID  Mar 03, 2015 ]
