Looking for the right combination of features in a subwoofer? Well, here's where big bass, great looks, and an affordable price come together! Polk's PSW303 boasts a 100-watt high-current amp, powering an 8" driver with a bass-friendly Hi-Roll Surround. This rounded foam surround allows longer driver excursion than on most subs, so a lot of air gets moved. The result? Tons of sound!

Also contributing to the quantity and quality of your lows is the PSW303's slot-loaded enclosure. By reducing port turbulence and distortion, the Slot Load Vent lets you hear bass that's dramatically full, yet impressively accurate. Other nice touches include this sub's extremely solid, yet compact, build, as well as its silver details and real wood veneer. The unfiltered LFE input, for maintaining 5.1 bass precision, is just another bonus. Bottom line? You've got the power you need for home theater, the precision you want in music, and a price that even the budget-minded can live with.

Why add a powered subwoofer?

A powered subwoofer gives you bass you can feel as well as hear. Our customers love the depth and impact their subs add to music and movies. We hear comments like "it brings out sounds I didn't know existed in discs I've watched a million times." Powered subwoofers aren't just for big bass that rattles your picture frames; they can also deliver tight, accurate lows. If you haven't shopped for a powered sub in a while, you might be surprised at how small they get. Look for an ultra-compact model if you want to tuck your sub away under an end table or in a corner.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the PSW303 to compliment a pair of powered M-Audio studio monitors for my smaller A/V system. The Polk sub far exceeded my expectations. The sub has plenty of power and sounds great. I was shocked at the improvement it made to the system. This sub represents a terrific value and I'm pleased to recommend it without hesitation.

Inputs and Outputs Notes
Warranty Notes

Driver: The PSW303 uses an 8" high excursion polymer composite cone driver for deep, smooth response and low distortion. For improved durability, the woofer uses a hi-roll foam surround.

Video Shielded: The subwoofer is magnetically shielded to allow safe placement next to TVs and video monitors.

Amplifier: The subwoofer is powered by a high-current amplifier producing 100 watts RMS/260 watts dynamic power.

Enclosure: The PSW303's solid MDF enclosure (including a one inch thick front baffle) suppresses enclosure panel resonance for distortion-free, accurate response.

Slot-Loaded Venting: The PSW303 features a wide, long, slot-load vent (approximately 8-3/8" x 7/8") to dramatically reduce turbulence, noise and distortion and significantly improve bass response.

3-Way Power Switch: The subwoofer has a 3-way power switch on the rear panel. You can select "Auto", which turns the unit on automatically when an input signal is received and off a few minutes after the signal stops; "On" which keeps the unit on until it is switched off, and "Off" which turns the unit completely off (instead of placing it in a standby mode). The LED power indicator glows green when the unit is on and red when the unit is off.

Volume Control: The PSW303 has a rotary volume control to adjust the volume of the subwoofer relative to the other speakers in the system.

Phase Switch: The subwoofer's phase switch allows you to select normal or reverse. If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, toggling the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass "attack."

Low-Pass Filter: The PSW303 offers a continuously variable low-pass filter, adjustable from 60-160Hz with a 24dB/octave slope. Note: When the subwoofer is connected to a receiver through the LFE input, the low-pass filter of the subwoofer is bypassed. The filter built into the receiver is relied upon to filter the subwoofer output frequencies.

Home Theater System: The PSW303 powered subwoofer perfectly compliments Polk Audio's RM6700 (or other RM-series) Home Theater speaker package. The RM6700 package, consisting of 4 identical front and rear satellites and a matching center channel speaker is available in black or titanium finish.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

LFE (Unfiltered) Input: The PSW303 has a gold-plated mono RCA LFE (Low Frequency Effects) input. This input should be used when connecting to a receiver with a filtered subwoofer output (check the receiver's owner's manual). The LFE input bypasses the subwoofer's built-in low pass crossover. Note: If the receiver's subwoofer output is unfiltered, you should use either the left or right Line Input of the subwoofer.

Line Inputs: The subwoofer has gold plated left and right RCA Line Level inputs. These inputs are for use with electronics featuring unfiltered "Pre Out" jacks (Example: a separate pre-amp processor with a separate amplifier). It may require "Y adapters" to connect the left and right outputs of the pre-amp processor to both the subwoofer and the power amplifier.

Speaker Level Input/Output: The subwoofer has spring clip connections for front speaker level input and output. The subwoofer's low-pass filter takes the low frequencies (based on the setting of the filter) and passes a full-range signal out to the speakers. This is the recommended method of connecting the subwoofer with a Polk Audio RM-series Home Theater speaker package and other "satellite" speaker systems.

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response for the subwoofer is 28-200Hz, -3 dB frequency response is 35-160Hz.

Weight: The PSW303 weighs 27 pounds.

Warranty Notes

Amplifier: The warranty on the amplifier is 3 years parts and labor.

Driver: The warranty on the driver is 5 years parts and labor.
